They did the job, however know that this is a 'no frills' automotive place. There's really no parking to speak of, I pulled up right in front of the lifts when I arrived and when I left, someone was waiting for my space. Don't expect a lounge with a couch, coffee, water, TV, snacks, magazines, a bathroom or kids' toys. There are 4 high garden chairs with ripped cushions with a small overhang, so you're exposed to heat or cold. There's a cafe next door or Lowe's across the street you can wander. It's probably better to be dropped off by a friend or be picked up by a ride-share after you've dropped your car off. There's no texting or web presence when making the appointment. Very informal, no signing an estimate beforehand. Friendly enough, although when I dropped it off, the man kept referring to 'a leak' and I said twice that I wasn't bringing it in for a leak. Quick service. Price was about what my dealer was going to charge, but I came here as it was closer and wanted to try somewhere different. Definitely a simpler experience than a dealer -- no surveys or annoying upselling or follow-up e-mails. I gave 5 stars as they obviously have a lot of fans and ultimately did what I came for in a timely manner and I was on my way. read more

I can call them, tell them what sound or issue I am having and before I even bring it in, they try and diagnose it...and most of the time I don't have to bring my car in, where "other" big brand chains wouldn't even give you the time of day! These guys are Honest, Quick and charge a Fair Price for great work! Mike Sr, Mike Jr, Bob & Ray have been keeping my used cars running for over 12 years now. Most shops charge a minimum hourly rate, but I have receipts for $8, $25 and many others under $50 which were NOT oil changes. They DO oil changes though and they WILL use your oil & filter & they WILL install parts you might find cheaper online if NAPA or local parts suppliers or the dealer wants to charge too much - I have saved over $400 buying one A/C part and $100's more buying parts online when local parts were too costly or an expensive dealer part was the only other option!!! - Master Automotive never tries to up-sell you a laundry list of random optional services, but they always inform you of any potential safety or wear and tear issues they notice in the course of your current work. These guys have provided golden service to me, my mother, my brother and now my daughters' & my friends cars & trucks too. If you are considering a used car or truck, Master Automotive has done inspections for me that provided valuable bargaining info that helped me make a smart offer on the vehicle. They don't do shuttle service or provide a rent-a-car but if you need those things, you can no-doubt also afford the dealer or other higher-priced repair shops. This shop is definitely worth a small detour, just for the peace-of-mind... ((As a sidenote, you should be aware that this shop has an active license with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair at www.bar.ca.gov even though the worthless BBB shows them having no license! I have to be honest, I have no clue when it comes to cars. Like NONE. Typical girl that could and would totally be taken advantage when I take my car to get repaired. I would probably nod, look terrified with tears coming down my cheeks. OK that may be an exaggeration, but honest truth it is a partly true. Car problems gives me anxiety because I am a smart girl but when it comes to cars I am dumber than a door knob. I have zero interest and my brain doesn't understand any of it. BF knows cars somewhat, but he's always had brand new cars. Never had to deal with car issues in his life. SO after a long few days of road trippin' up and down the coast our car literally barely made it to our drive way. The coolant was all gone and that scary light that comes one and flashes like you have 5 seconds to live came on. From then on if we dare turn on the A/C in the car it just died on us. I had to send texts to a few people and thank God one gfriend said she knew someone. She said her mechanic's shop is not in town, and it will be a drive...45 minutes away, but she promised the owner Bob is the most honest mechanic we would ever meet in our life. And I trust this girl's words and had the BF contact Bob ASAP. And from start to finish Bob was beyond excellent. He is not only a great and honest mechanic, he is a great human being. When you're in need of a car repair it is one of the most helpless feeling. We need our car in our daily life. We have also like everyone have dealt with our fair shares of not so honest mechanic who charged for work that your car didn't need, or "fixed" something that was not broken, and just simply lied while making you feel like you owed them a favor. Bob made us feel safe, and taken care of. Even stayed late so that he can finish the car before he closes for the weekend, so we wouldn't be without a car. And to boot he charged such a fair price. I have been taking all my vehicles to Master Automotive (vice the dealer) for close to 20 years (or since they opened). When Bob or Ray works on any of my vehicles, it is a peace of mind for me, the work is always "done right the first time", and the prices are more than reasonable. On a personal note, I do not feel that I am dealing with "a business" more like going over a friends house, I do not know if I could ever find another shop where I can just leave my vehicles. I am especially anal about Sara (2001 Z28) and who does work to her. With Master Automotive, there is never a problem about leaving her there till the end of the day. I met with Bob for a pre purchase car inspection and this guy knows his stuff! He helped me out a lot and saved me from buying a terrible car that was poorly put back together after an accident. If I had just gone with what I found on Carfax, I would have just bought the car! So Carfax is a great base to go off of when buying a car, but do not make a decision soley on what Carfax says. Another thing I love about this place and Bob is that it was free! Should he have found something terrible that he needed to inspect further, it may have cost a little bit. Honest and reasonably priced. I've been bringing my cars here for over 10 years. Many times they have done an inspection or something simple for no charge. Mike and Ray do great work and don't have a minimum charge like many other places. I've paid anywhere from $10-$600 for repairs here that would have cost $100-$4000 at other shops and the work wouldn't have been as reliable. These guys are the best!!! read more

I started taking my car to Bob and Ray just after my Escalade warranty ran out, and I have been very pleased. My car had a very rough ride for a year and Bob diagnosed the problem. His cost on new shocks was going to be over $500 each for just the parts, so he suggested I find some online and bring him the parts to install. What a great savings! I found them on Amazon for literally 1/2 the price. My car is now smoother than when I first bought it, so I'm guessing my shocks had been bad from when I drove it off the lot. The mechanic had my car running in a half hour, after extensive personal testing of the entire ignition system (autozone said ign coil was fine). Bob (and Mike Jr) saw a weak spark, and pointed finger at the ign coil! After replacing the coil she runs / starts great. If that hadn't fixed it, they were willing to return part and put labor towards the fix. Very experienced people! Used cars go here before you buy! read more
