Look, I don't post a lot and the main reason is like 99.9% of you. When we're happy, you second guess things like a awesome review but after taking my cars over the years I promised myself I'd get this review done! Petty's Auto: 5 star service from the minute you step foot in till the minute you leave! I took my car for a coolent leak for which they installed new hoses and upon picking up my car , I barely made it on the on ramp that my check engine light came on. I took the car back to them and Andrew retrieved the code and told me cylinder # 1 is misfiring and just to do further tests , he wanted $290 since access to coils and spark plugs was restricted , to which I made the mistake of agreeing. Everything went terribly downhill from there. He end up misdiagnosing that injector on cylinder # 1 is bad . He wanted $800 to replace it without any guarantee that it will fix the problem. I decided that I wanted to get my car to somewhere else , so I paid up what owed and when I started my car , engine was totally busted and car was in undriveable state. When I told Andrew about what happened to my working car with just some misfire issue , to which he said cylinder 1 is dead now . I took my car to a different mechanic who within few minutes found that the entire right side cylinder bay was dead and it was just due to a diconnected cable that provides signals to injectors. Even the bolts to the manifold were loose. We connected the cable and engine came back to life and was working perfectly fine. I told him about the intermittent misfire and he reproduced misfire on drive test and was able to diagnose the issue to a bad coil. He replaced the coil and my car runs awsome now. These guys were totally scaming me to cough up $800 for something I did not even need and purposely jacked the engine to make me think that the cylinders are dead . I have never come across such dishonest kind before. STAY AWAY !! read more

I'll be honest I wanted to like the place, but the price for the service wasn't worth it. I really feel I got taken with their labor cost as the part was fairly cheap. I called around after having it done and many places like the Shell Auto repair down the road stated a price nearly in half for parts and labor. I gave 2 stars since they were able to fix it same day unlike a few other places that told me 3 days which was rather unreal. They called back quickly but I thought they could have spent a little more time explaining what exactly was the problem. They also gave me a list of other things that needed to be done but never wrote them down on their notes which made me question it. I'll update to 3 stars if my normal tech states what they said needs to be done. I'd honestly search elsewhere. I wouldn't say any shop in particular but I just would avoid Ibera Place auto shops and wouldn't be surprised if they all collaborated to keep costs high there. That's just my two cents. read more

I went to Pettey's Auto Service today and got my oiled changed on my 2005 Tundra. They did a great job and were able to change my oil even though I didn't have an appointment. I went to Rubio's for lunch and when I came back it was done! I know that going to a legit mechanic can be expensive for a simple oil change, but Andrew gave me a great price! It's pretty much the same as what those EZ Lube (ripoff) guys charge and with Pettey's Auto you don't have to worry about them destroying your car. I'll definitely be coming back and I would recommend that you go here for all your car/truck needs!! read more

Great shop with great people! I took my car here yesterday and was worried d that I maybe had a big problem on my hands. My dad recommended the shop to me so I knew I was in good hands. 8 months ago they changed 4 small led bulbs of my car. 2 plate bulbs and 2 marker bulbs. 3 of 4 bulbs are dead now. They not even last for a year. I regret so much trusting Justin and letting him sell me crappy chinese bulbs. I will never make business with this shop again read more

I was referred to Pettey's by a friend and I'm really glad. I brought my truck in with a dead battery, coolant leak, and a belt that needed to be changed badly. On top of that, I was going to be out of town for the entire week with hardly any cell reception. Andrew kept me up to date almost every day and my car was done within a couple days. I was expecting a huge bill but what I got was something WAY below what I expected. They saved me a ton of money by being able to fix my coolant leak with clamps. They swapped my battery and the belt with ease and the work Justin (the mechanic) did seems solid (so far). They finished my car so quick that I still had nearly a week left on my trip. Because I had so much time, they allowed me to keep my car in their parking lot until I was ready to pick it up. Needless to say, I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage by these guys. They didn't try to sell me air filters or any kind of extra services. I'll be coming here from now on. read more

I first came here when my Accord needed a new timing belt and some other minor repairs. They gave me the best price over the various auto shop and dealership quotes by far. A few months later, after my Accord ended up totaled (just my luck) I purchased another car and took it here to get it inspected the next day. The car had major issues with the alignment and emissions converter; repairs that would've cost a few thousand to make. Thanks to their findings I was able to return the car that day and avoided a very costly mistake. I take care of my cars. I was taking my Altima and Camry Hybrid to the dealers. I drive a lot and it was killing me. I found out about Pettey's Auto from some friends. What a change! And I'm not talking Spare Change! Andrew gives me great service, he gives me the straight scoop. For example; I purchased a set of tires from a local tire shop, NOT Pettey's the manager called me over to show me why I needed new struts, they had some oil residue on the shock. That was going to be $1400. I told the manager I would "get back to them". I spoke to Andrew Pettey, he said when you're due for the next service we'll check it out. He did and I saved $1400!! Yet another scam artists' location at Iberia Place. They know how to rip you off when you own a BMW. At the same time they have no shame admitting their incompetence. There is no lower mark than a single star. This place does not deserve any star. I had a simple repair of window regulator and a coolant warning light check. The "estimate" came with a call for ~ $250, which I thought was reasonable, so I agreed. Well, it was for just opening the hood as later the wise guy told me. The total was close to $500. The result: 1) replaced window regulator (no brainier because I asked for it up-front) - part cost $81, 2) "check" of the cooling pipes for leak. Nothing was determined, the light is still on. No kidding - the guy had guts to admit they checked what they could but cannot guarantee there was no "hidden" leak. I spent close to $500. Stay away from these people. read more

These guys are scam artists. They made a few minor repairs to my car and charged an OUTRAGES amount for labor. Then when I asked for an hourly breakdown of their labor costs they told me that "they don't charge by the hour, they charge by the job". I only brought it to them because they were close when my car started acting up, and after talking to friends with knowledge of the repairs that they made I wish I had paid to have it towed somewhere else.
