Our family only takes our cars into Master Automotive. Ray and Bob have been working on our cars for almost 20 years. They're honest and offer a fair price. They also refer us to trustworthy businesses if required. We recommend them without any reservations. Make sure to call ahead for an appointment because they are very popular! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! After a few bad experiences at other mechanics, I'm happy to say I've found my place. Affordable rates and honest guys that don't take advantage of the fact that I don't know much about cars. Thank you for always taking care of my car, Ray! I appreciate you guys! read more

When it comes to Domestic cars, bob and Ray are the best!!! My son's 2003 Jeep Wrangler runs so smooth after my service. Had mice chewing on wires and hoses creating havoc. Thanks guys for honest and affordable care. I'll be bring my Escalade for a tune up soon. read more

Took my beater truck here to get a strange noise checked out. Bob was super easy going, flexible, and the complete opposite of pushy. He found a few problems with the truck and told me they would likely cost more than I may want to spend on a vehicle of little value. He left the decision up to me and wasn't upset or bothered in the slightest when I opted to not have the repairs done. I can't testify the quality of their work since I didn't actually have any done, but the professionalism and honesty displayed by Bob was enough to motivate me to write this review. I will definitely take vehicles in for repairs here again in the future. read more

Referred here by a friend who has been bringing both her cars to the shop for the past 7 years. What I liked most about the experience was the mechanics showed me all the parts that were replaced from my vehicle when I picked it up. It felt honest and first impressions mean everything. read more

My son's 2003 Jeep Wrangler needed some work done; water pump, timing belt, full tune up, and thermostat. After researching the local Poway shops, I decided to call Master. I spoke with Ray and immediately felt at ease with his honesty and bed side manner. After leaving the Jeep there for one day, I picked it up and had the pleasure of meeting Bob. I am so impressed with the down to earth courtesy of both these men. The price and workmanship A+!! This 2003 Jeep 4 banger stick shift runs so smooth. Appreciate the both of you for your honesty, skill, and all around bed side manner. I will be bringing my other vehicles soon. read more

What HONEST guys! I thought I blew a head gasket and they found something very odd, unique, yet a simple fix, and it just cost two quarts of oil and 30 minutes in labor - I know 8 other individuals that take all their cars to Ray and Bob and all of us highly recommend them. They have integrity! read more

These guys are the real deal. You'll be hard pressed to find a better mechanic for the service you get here. They do things right, efficiently and they charge what's fair. For the quality of work, you're getting a deal. Think of them as the mom and pop of car repair. They're the type of place that survives on providing fair and good service. If they didn't, they wouldn't be in business anymore. My father has been doing business with them for over as long as I can remember, and now, even though I live in Los Angeles, I still make the trip down to have them work on my car. read more

Friendly, honest, and reasonable. After Poway Toyota tried to rip off my wife for several thousand dollars, Master gave me a massively reduced list of work items at a fraction of the cost. They even told me where I could purchase parts myself for them to install even cheaper! read more

Bob and Ray are just the best ! Honest, kind, understanding, knowledgeable, experienced, reasonable, fair with integrity. Their customer is their first concern. We can't say enough!!! read more

Master Automotive is what you want in an auto repair shop. They are honest, give different alternatives to addressing your problems, and will never sell you something you don't need. Their prices always seem fair, much cheaper than the dealer, and they fix the problem correctly the first time. Bob and Ray are outstanding people as well as mechanics. I have been using them for over 15 years on our Suburban, Honda, Nissan, Audi and Acura. When I moved to Poway I asked a neighbor who his mechanic was and he told me to go to Master. I did and since then I have about 20 other families that wouldn't take their vehicles anywhere else. I don't write many reviews, but Master Automotive is the real deal. read more

Hi, If you are like me and know nothing about cars besides filling up the gas tank, then you need to find an automotive repair shop you can trust. And, Master Automotive IS IT!! Ray and Bob are two of the most honest, down to earth, sincere and professional owners I have had work on my vehicles. They now service all 5 vehicles for our family. Ray and Bob's integrity and character are beyond reproach. They speak in layman's terms so their customers don't feel overwhelmed by the technical speak and yet can communicate clearly to other automotive techs when needed. They work on out Lexus, Chevy, Toyota, Ford and Nissan cars. They are worth the drive from anywhere in San Diego. They are located 7 mins from the I-15 off of Poway Rd. Their prices are very competitive and are lower than my past experiences for car repairs. Do yourself a favor if you want peace of mind, visit Master Automotive for your car repairs. Vince read more

They repaired my brakes over six months ago, and the brakes started vibrating. Even though it was beyond the warranty, and the problem may have been caused by something else, they fixed them again for free. That's how they do business. They stand behind their work. read more

Great place to take your car for maintenance or repairs. Very honest and fair pricing. They do get busy so it's best to make an appointment.

Best automotive place ever! Ray is a great mechanic! I will never take my cars any where else. They are always looking out for their customers. read more

Bob and Ray are the best. They need a bigger parking lot - but I've been there twice and will continue to go to them! Thank you gentlemen!

I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I have had my 2008 Honda serviced here three times now, and have been amazed each time with their efficiency and honesty. I have yet to find better service or pricing, and I am definitely one who shops around. They always do a better job, at an incredibly fair price, with no fuss. At this point I don't even call elsewhere for quotes, I just call Master Automotive as soon as an issue arises. I will definitely be a lifelong customer. read more

I've lived in Poway for 23 years and have tried a few different auto shops along the way. Some, I thought were good, trustworthy and a decent price, only to have something go wrong. Well, thanks to my friend Rick at "Poway Test Only" smog shop, the best in town, I tried Master Automotive and I believe I finally found the last mechanic I will ever need. Bob provided excellent service, explained everything and the price was great. Without asking, he showed me the old part that they replaced, and also gave my vehicle the once over to check for any future problems. I highly recommend Master Automotive for all your repair needs, you will not be disappointed! read more

This is the only place I will take my car now. I was having power steering pump noises and went to several places that told me I needed to replace the pump and give me price estimates of $350-450. When I took the car to Ray at Master Automotive he asked me if I was having steering difficulties or if it felt real heavy I said nope not at all was just making an annoying sound. He replied in all his years working on cars he has only had to replace 2 Honda power steering pumps and both of them you could almost not steer the car, and he thinks he knows what the problem was. Left my car there couple hours later I get a call yup we found the problem... the power steering pump is still working great it was the $5 silicone O-ring inside the pump it had deteriorated and was allowing air into the pump. Ever since that day they have earned my business for anything auto related. Another time when the rear main engine seal was leaking Ray told me they could do it but they would probably be more expensive since they have to remove the transmission to do the work, something they can do but would take several hours where a transmission place could do it in 1 probably he then recommended 2 places and even provided me with coupons for those places. If you want service top notch customer service and honest mechanics who only do the work that is necessary Master Automotive is the shop you want your car at! read more

My son drove all the way from L.A. to have Master Automotive work on his steering problem. My daughter is coming down from Santa Cruz to have them do her brakes. Talk about peace of mind when it comes to finding a good, HONEST mechanic. I may never move out of Poway for that reason! read more

Master Automotive seems to be one of those rare businesses in the automotive service category that does honest quality work at a reasonable price. It is nice to know that such places actually exist! They have earned my trust and confidence. read more

I have a very old car that failed a smog test. I called different shops to get quotes on what it would cost to figure out what was wrong, and Master Automotive gave me the lowest price at $180 so I took the car there. At the end of the day they returned it to me after not only fixing the problem, but also taking it back to the smog test station themselves and having it retested. They only charged me $170 for the entire fix including the second smog test. Since the car is so old, I had been expecting that it would need major repairs to ever have hope of passing a smog test. Master Automotive has completely amazed me with how well they handled this and I'm incredibly grateful to them. read more

Came here once when I was having trouble with my car. They popped the hood and told me a hose was loose, put it back in place...charged me nothing and sent me on my way. They earned my business and my referrals. Very no-frills garage, but honest, knowledgable auto mechanics! read more

I wouldn't trust the safety of my family with anyone else. Bob and his team and patient and knowledgeable and do an excellent job of communicating. I won't take my car anywhere else. My 2007 Honda Odyssey A/C stopped blowing cold air right in the middle of a heat wave! I called "TheDealershipWhoShallNotBeNamed" and as usual, the person who answered the phone seemed annoyed, and the Service Dept. seemed annoyed AND wanted lots of money to look at car, and said A/C problems were very expensive. So I looked on Yelp, and although they only had 9 reviews, Master Automotives supporters seemed honest and believable. I called and explained my problem, and they said I could drop my car off at night and leave the key in the door. They called me next morning, told me what the car needed in detail and answered all my questions. The estimate was fair and reasonable. I spoke with both Ray and Bob, and both of them were so nice! My car was ready that day! A/C was cold, car was fixed at reasonable price, and the best part of all is I have a place to take my car for repair with really nice qualified people that I can trust!! Thank you Ray and Bob! read more

This shop is always amazing!! They are always straight with you and don't over charge you like the dealers. Ray always has taken care of our family cars. For example: I called him on a Wednesday and needed my back breaks done. I told him the only day I could do it was Friday. He said not a problem. I dropped my car off Thursday night after closing and by 9am the next day it was done. Ray said he knew they had a busy day on Friday and didn't want me to be without my car (since I have 4 kids). He said he came in early to get it done for me. What auto shop does that? I have never found one until now. They care about their customers. I would recommend them to everyone!!! read more

I have been taking my cars to Master Automotive for years and would not go anywhere else. They are honest, quick and very knowledgeable. The only downside is they aren't open on weekends but their care more than makes up for it. They have found solutions for problems when other mechanics couldn't figure it out and they always give affordable options if possible. Many times they don't charge anything for simple issues. They are the best!!!! read more
