I came here to get my Macbook checked out and they weren't considerate of it at all. The worker basically slid it across the desk over and over as if it can't be scratched and then continued to bang it on its side as if that helped determine what was wrong with it. When I went to go pick it up, service was rude and just unpleasant; apparently I need a drivers license in order to pick up my own computer(I'm under age so how could I have one?) and considering I had the receipts and papers they gave me yesterday, it was ridiculous that I had to go back to get my school ID. On top of that, there's a scratch on the bottom that was definitely not there before and a scrape right next to it as well. Will never be going back. read more

Worst customer service - EVER. It's virtually impossible to connect with a person on the phone, whenever you do, inevitably, the staff in the department you need are with customers so you're asked to leave a number for a callback as soon as one of those has finished with their customer. Is the callback ever made? NEVER. They couldn't care less about returning a call to answer a question regarding something missing on their website. Ridiculous. read more

I just saw I posted this over a year ago and wanted to say everything I said before still holds true. This is a great place to buy anything computer related. And I have still had no problems here. read more

Their selection and prices are amazing, the staff is a hit or miss sometimes. Waiting for the computer associates to help you is a big pain in the butt, and some of them show that they are only there to get paid. But you cannot beat their refurbished section for a new computer. Highly recommended, but do your research online first or bring a tech savvy friend with you for purchasing to show you the pros and cons between the computers. read more

So Good! I mean, I have a i7 4790k, a case fan, and a ssd from them. No problem. Such a selection in computer parts!

It's been a long time since I'd been to Micro Center. Back then I was a student pursuing a computer science degree, though I didn't get computers or laptops. Back then I purchased books on Java or Walnut Creek CD roms with FreeBSD on them. I kept moving westward after college and Fry's was just closer. I had a chance to go back the other day when I was in the neighborhood. They have a decent selection of computer hardware. Parts too, for Arduino and Raspberry Pi lovers, too. More than I care to spend normally, but within the range I feel is fair. read more

Amazing service and help with retrieving old hard drive and getting me a new computer, definitely earned a repeat customer today

The world is a crazy place right now, and there is so much added stress to everyone's daily life. I was notified Sunday that I would be working from home more beginning immediately, and knew I needed a new computer in order to do so. Sunday evening, I placed an order online and waited for the confirmation email the next day. After not receiving an email, or a phone call back, I made my way up to the store to check on my order. When I arrived, I was shocked at the line around the building, and was dreading the wait after a long day. I must say, as soon as I got in line, I was beyond impressed. They were only letting in a certain number of customers at a time, but the line moved so quickly. When I got in to the store, I was notified that the online service was not being used due to the high demand and crazy circumstances (totally understandable). I pulled up my list of items in my cart and headed to the computer department. Within 2 minutes, an associate greeted me, and asked if I needed help. He quickly took down my item numbers and ran to the back to fill my order. He answered all of my questions, and did so with an eagerness to help and a smile. I was in and out of the store within 15 minutes. Micro Center is doing it all right! The whole process was like a well oiled machine. Micro Center has definitely earned a customer for life. Thank you to all of you for being there for all of us during this crazy time in life. read more

So I had to swing by this place for a new Mac power cord. Looking around I saw something of interest, which I cannot speak about because it would be considered a Christmas present. The prices here are a little inflated so I asked for a military discount. To my surprise, they don't give discounts to military, but will offer discounts to police and fireman. I attempted to push my luck and speak with the manager. He asked the sales person what it was referring to "over the phone" and when the sales person told him, he said he was busy and I would have to wait. I waited for 30 minutes, because I figured such a $$ purchase would interest him, but no "Chris" would not giving in. I finally gave up and as I was leaving an employee asked if I got what I wanted and I said No, your manager was too busy to speak with me, so ya'll lost the sale. When I told him what the item was, he actually stepped back in shock. Sorry Chris, next time you should put you customers first instead of arranging a display of computer fans. I will say the sales person was great and very knowledgable, hence the two stars instead of throwing an egg. read more

I gave this place 2 stars for having good deals and that is it. My husband and I came in here early Saturday morning for a new cpu and monitor. My husband found a sweet deal online for a refurb with windows 10 already installed. We got to the store and the lady that helped us out was Kim. She found the computer pretty quickly and found us an awesome monitor as well. Sadly, we got home and realized the monitor she found us was not compatible with the cpu (hdmi only). We called Microcenter to see if we could exchange it for a different monitor and the rep advised us there wasnt a monitor at the same price point with the specs we needed. No biggie, but he didnt even apologize for the mishap. We ended up finding a cheaper one with the same specs somewhere else, so i returned the monitor Saturday afternoon and picked up the new one. I get home Saturday night and hook the computer up, within 10 minutes of having the computer turned on it freezes. My husband (IT guy) looked at it when he got home and after messing with it for 45 minutes tells me something in the cpu is messed up and we need to return the computer. Ugh, what a hassle. So my husband looks online again for a new computer this time and found a brand new cpu with the same specs (different brand) for only 20 bucks more! I dont understand why someone didnt tell us that when we first came in to purchase the computer. So we go back to microcenter for the 3rd time and do the exchange, again no one apologized for selling us a messed up computer. Terrible customer service. That being said, we got an awesome deal on the brand new computer and when we talked to a different rep on the 3rd visit he was very knowledgable regarding the specs on the computer so i appreciated that. However, it seems hit or miss here. I would have appreciated an apology at least and someone that knows their stuff helping us out on the first visit. read more

I'm pretty disappointed in Micro Center. I've purchased the components to build my last two PC's from this particular store and it's obvious that the sales people work on commission because they're always asking to put their stickers on things that they didn't even really help me with. But whatever, that's not why I'm writing this review. My primary concern is their unwillingness to match an internet price for me. I was looking at a laptop bag this past weekend and found it on Amazon for $20 or $30 cheaper. I brought it up to the front and had the bag pulled up on my phone so the checker could see it. She didn't even look at the phone, she just called someone (I assume a supervisor) who had her read the UPC to him. His reply was that that UPC didn't come up for the price my phone was showing so they wouldn't price match it. I asked her to explain that I was looking at it right there on my phone. It was in stock and ready to ship. There was no mistaking the model for another model or anything because it had pictures and it was obviously the same bag. They wouldn't budge because it wouldn't pull up when he searched for the UPC so I let them keep the bag and left. I was also trying to buy some new computer speakers. Those also stayed at the store and I very seriously doubt that I will be buying my next computer components here. Or anything else for that matter. I went up the road to a competitor of theirs and they were happy to have my business and price match for me. read more

I don't understand some of the people on here with their reviews. No, this is not the Apple Store, and no, this is not your wholesale resistor and soldering headquarters. If you don't know what they specialize in, just LOOK on their website first... you get to see the whole inventory. They have plenty of things for sale, but they specialize in COMPUTER COMPONENTS: i.e. CPUs, PSUs, memory, VGAs, cases, coolers, etc. It really DOES help if you know what you are looking for when you come here, so do your research ahead of time. The only thing you should need a sales guy for is to find where things are located, nothing else. Let them stick that sticker on there after they help you. If they can't find something just ASK somebody like a Human Being that knows how to communicate instead of expecting everybody to come running-up to you just because you have some "dear in the headlights" look on your face as you look at shelves. If you don't know what you are putting into your build, odds are they won't be able to tell you exactly what you really need for your personal use anyway, in which case you probably just need them to point you to the pre-built section... and you probably should have shopped online first to get prices so you should have been going to that area to pick-up the exact PC/laptop at the lowest price around from the start. The point being that you still should have done your research ONLINE before you come on here and complain of prices or staff that can't help you get exactly what you need... some things are even available to order online ONLY. Now on to the actual store: First of all, the store is NOT dirty. I think some of you are either over-privileged with your own private maids or don't know the definition of the word "dirty." Tight spaces with lots of items on shelves does NOT equal "dirty"... if that's too much for you, go back to the phone or Apple Store where you have plenty of "clean" space between isles because they tell you exactly which 5-7 options of things to get.... this place is not for you. The store is basic and feels a little cluttered with how much stuff they have in a relatively small space, however that stuff is exactly what any SYSTEM BUILDER could dream of. You have literally hundreds of components at various price points. They have a great selection of all computer components and accessories. They really do have THE best prices on motherboards and CPU's on the market, especially when you buy a bundle on sale. I always go here on Black Friday because, despite the stupid crowd of "OMG I want a slightly discounted Apple product!"-people, you can save HUNDREDS on a decent PC build. No, they don't have the absolutely best price on everything, like graphics cards, however they do still have a nice selection of even that... often parts that may be sold-out even on Newegg. Rebates can be a little annoying, but the deals are incredible and stack-up fast. I not only saved roughly $400 on the parts I bought this past November, but I also got an unexpected no-interest 6-month credit line to not have to pay a dime at check-out... yes, it took an extra 20 minutes (on THE busiest day of the year), but I got everything I wanted and got to pay for it with somebody else's money for 6 months (just paid the due balance this month and still paid 0% interest)! A couple of weeks after my last shopping experience I realized I should have also gotten a free code for a game to register online when I was there (my fault for not asking about/noticing the promotion in-store), so I called the store to ask about it, and they sent me an email with the code and instructions with-in 30 minutes of my call. I don't come here often, however I have been coming here on and off for over 17 years and I know I can always get a great deal on a system build. I will go to a Fry's closer to my house for whatever cheapo cable or adapter I may need, but I will always go to Microcenter for expensive system builds or other high-end electronics... I believe their Apple products are often a little more affordable also, if that's your thing and you are willing to stop being a 'hipster' for a second to go into a place like this to pick-up your device to save some money, this may work for you. Just to re-iterate: they don't have ALL the parts you may ever need/want there in the store or at the lowest price. I bought about half my system parts on Newegg and half at Microcenter. Yes, the savings on the things I bought at Microcenter (like CPU + MB combo, water coolers, and a few other things) were very well worth the trip and still managed to save me roughly $400 off regular everyday pricing on a high-end custom build (comparable to a top-of-the-line Alienware). As a hobby I have now done about 7 full or partial builds for my friends and I at Microcenter, and have saved well over $2K over the past 17 years on the parts that I did get, both on a limited budget and on a virtually unlimited budget. read more

I left a Dell computer for service on Saturday, January 27; the computer was under a two-year warranty. I was told at the time that the computer would be checked out on Monday, 1/29. On that date, I checked repair status on the website; it showed that a part was needed, and a representative told me that the part was ordered. When I checked again on Friday, February 2, I was told that it takes up to five business days to get the part, which means that it could arrive as late as Monday, February 5. When I called today (February 6), the service representative told me that the part was not ordered until Monday, February 5, and would not arrive until mid-week. When I called the general line and asked to speak with a manager; I was told that the manager could not take calls. This abysmal service and indifference to customers speaks for itself. read more

The employees are paid only $4/hour plus commissions, so you are stalked by hungry sales people when you just want to browse. If you do decide to buy then you are asked to add on endless different software programs. If you say, "No" a manager is called to speak to you. Our salesman would not let us go checkout until we spoke to the manager. We just left & they lost the sale of a laptop. These people are knowledgable, but I hate the shopping experience. I'll only go back if they are the only place selling what I need. read more

CAUTION! Their return/warranty policies are disgraceful. I bought a printer May 30, 2013 and here it is July 23, 2013 and the printer has already broken. MicroCenter will not take it back as I did not buy an EXTENDED warranty. They will not stand behind the manufacturer's warranty and instead I must ship my $300 printer back to Brothers. It's less than 2 months old! I will never shop there again. read more

Left a computer for warranty service. Their web site status widget said it had been sent out to Microsoft. I called after a week and was told the same. After four weeks I finally got the service manager Reggie who said there was a paperwork issue and it had not been sent out. Apparently Reggie is not competent to DIAL A PHONE and contact the customer. After consulting with ex-wife I decided to approve just paying for the repair. I called back and was assured Reggie had been told. I called back two weeks later and it STILL had not been sent out. Again, no attempt to contact me. I went and retrieved it unrepaired. I would have gotten better computer repair service at a McDonalds, they wouldn't have wasted a month and a half before giving it back. read more

This has to be one if the WORST and bizarre experiences at a retail store I have ever had. I felt like I walked into the movie Idiocracy. There is nothing wrong with employing the mentally handicapped and I commend them for doing so but when i walk into a computer store I expect there to be someone who knows about computers to help me with my purchase. Instead the several ppl who attempted to help me obviously had a learning disability. One guy even argued the charger I was looking to replace was to my laptop.. I explained several times without success of him comprehending until finally I had to go get my laptop out of my car and show him and the other gentlemen attempting to help starts laughing and calling the other a dip shit..it was so bizarre!! After about a 30 min wait in line on a Friday afternoon I finally get to the front of the line and see what the hold up is... The ppl checking out can barely even work the register.!! What I thought was going to be a in and out trip turned into almost a 2 hour ordeal. I will hopefully never have to return to this circus read more

Great place to get pretty much everything you need at a decent price. Also, big plus for letting me bring my well-behaved dog in the store!

Look at the average rating. Even at 3 stars it's high. I paid $1,000 for an admittedly refurbished MacBook Pro a couple of years ago. Battery "expanded" (an issue no one told me occurs but not my problem with Micro Center) and in the process corrupted the operating system. Micro Center wants $150 to reinstall the operating system, something Apple would do free BUT FOR the fact Micro Center installed a third-party hard drive. No on told me the laptop was refurbished with third-party parts - particularly parts that would destroy a warranty on the operating system. I've spent $1000s there over the last decade or so. No more. They lose a long-time customer and who knows how much $ in the future to save what costs them less than $50 I'm guessing. So much for customer service! read more

To address the response, I probably wasn't clear in my first review. Grandparent did buy from MicroCenter but no longer had receipt. They do NOT give any of their info out to companies and pay for their gifts with cash. Therefore they were not in your system. The only reason I searched online to see if y'all had them in stock is because that is where they bought it. Again, I'm not out to rip companies off, I just wanted to do an even exchange. read more

I have been dealing with Micro Center for about 10 years. I've always been a Windows customer. I recently changed to iPhone and iPad. They have some good prices, but their customer service is not good. I have been to the Apple section twice in the last couple months. The employees never asked if I needed help. They didn't even make eye contact. The lines are too long. They need a better system. The manager standing there watching the lines does help them move faster. Maybe he could get the products out of the back before going to the register. In store pick-up takes too long too. If they can get the line moving better, this place would be a lot better. read more

This place is horrible, I bought a computer through them and had to have it replaced 3 times in less than 6 months. The forth time I got a refund, that was only store credit so i was forced to buy another replacement there, and when it messed up they wanted to send it off for 3 weeks to the manufacturer despite having the in store warranty. I ordered the part myself and asked them to replace it, but it is taking forever, so far over 3 days to replace a keyboard. The people may be nice but the place and products are second rate and they don't seem to care if your electronics continuously breakdown. Save yourself the hassle and go to Best Buy, at least they answer their phone, and give you the actual store number online not a corporate number. Worst store ever read more

Some of the negative reviewers have had single events, where as many of us are regular customers at this GREAT store. Much better than Fry's, the staff is always helpful and selection is outstanding. Often, you'll see the manager moving throughout the store and he is making sure customer service is paramount. The staff really knows their trade, and even if you are a high level tech type, they often know something you'll find helpful. The only complaint is they do get busy and the checkout line gets a bit lengthy. That happens, when you've got a great selection and so many people enjoy shopping there.....! read more

So many of the reviews I've read just confirm how horrible this store is. First and foremost any store that doesn't return cash from a debit card because they run the return as credit is dishonest. I paid cash but have to wait 3-4 business days to get the cash back? Micro Center has to use customers money to stay afloat???? When I called the corporate office number I was given, I got a voicemail. This place is a joke. The employees are not terribly helpful as well. When I asked for a manager when they didn't return my money I got Kitty - who listened to my complaint and just walked away. Then after waiting another 5 minutes got Colleen who is the "supposed" manager who did nothing. She said the transaction had already been run and I'd just have to wait for the refund. I guess part of the reason the employees are not helpful as it starts with management has not been schooled on what customer service is. Well great job Micro Center, you've lost another customer! read more
