Compared to my local michaels in the 209 this one had way more in stock, the store was clean and the associates were friendly.

We love this Michaels! The store is clean, the staff are friendly and approachable, and are happy to help. The shelves are stocked with good stuff. Whenever we are looking for crafts, the staff at this michaels are always super helpful and friendly. Last Easter, we were looking for little wooden birdhouses to be painted as an activity for our Easter party. When this store didn't have enough of the particular item, after checking there were none in the entire store, they offered to look up if any other michaels close by had the birdhouses. They steered us to go to the concord store, so we got what we needed for our party. We also take our 6year old here to do their scheduled craft activities. Today, she got to make a "happy planter/jar"--she got to paint and put stickers on a little plastic jar. She had a blast, and the attendant, who was very friendly and helpful, made our trip awesome! If your littles enjoy arts and crafts, this is the place to do it--just check their calendar online. You can sign them in, and shop for 20-30 mins, or you can accompany them. Guaranteed good time! Due to the pandemic, I'm forced to do curbside pick up with 3 young children... I'm a crafter and was out of resin so I placed an order this morning. As I pulled up I realized they refunded me for the resin and I was pretty upset since it's really all I needed. I called and asked if they had a substitution and RJ was able to find an alternative for the same price. At this point I had two of my children and two dogs in the car (lol I know.) I asked if they could take payment over the phone... they couldn't... I was disappointed but understood the reasons why. I had to take my kids in with me to go buy it. The line was ridiculous which made me even more appreciative that RJ was able to find me the product I needed over the phone with a full store. Also, Ena, was super helpful when at the register. I thought I missed out on the 20% online coupon but she told me there was a 30% one for in store! Thank you both! It's a Michael's... The employees don't really ask if you need help till you get to the counter.. where you realize that the ribbon you picked up is "by the yard" and not by the spool... but you should have known that by the lack of direction, right? Anyhow.. They usually have what I need.. some yarn.. some beads.. ribbons.. colorful papers.. it's alright but nothing special. The prices aren't very inexpensive unless you know where to look.. I just feel like Vallejo is in need of an upbeat, thrifty, craft supply store.. this one doesn't cut the mustard... oh and the ribbon I didnt find here I got at Hancock Fabrics by Target... that's another yelp in itself. read more

Hey, what the hell's with the pungent perfume hanging in the air here? IWhaa thaa faa? This place smells like somebody sprayed 200 bottles of cinnamon flavored Fabreeze throughout the store.... Definitely overkill. As far as the shop is concerned, they have a decent selection, but the service is only so-so and the cashiers are all lacking in the intelligence department. We actually got a couple of prints custom framed here a couple of years back and it cost us about $200 per frame. Talk about extortion. All in all, they're 3 star because we don't have much alternative in Vallejo, but I'd gladly go somewhere else if I had the option. read more

I have always gone to Michael's for their great value. Having said that, unlike most stores, Maichael's has very courteous staff that is until today. I was with my two girls looking for the next arts and crafts endeavor when I needed a price check. I did not see any of the isle self checker scanners so I approached the lady with purple hair at the frame center. When I asked here she was very rude and told me to use the checker on isle 15. I am okay with being told where the closest scanner is; What I didn't appreciate is how the purple haired associate treated me let alone in front of my two kids. Rude! Simply rude. read more

I don't know how Michael's has only an average of 3 stars, because this place is awesome! Of course the prices are a little higher, it's a specialty store so what do people expect? I'm really not too impressed with this Michael's location. The store if quite large, however every time I go in, so many items are out of stock. Customer service isn't much better. It sometimes takes quite a while to even find someone to help you, they don't ever seem to ask if you need help. When I ask if "there is more in the back" I always get a "no". The Vallejo location is convenient for lots of people, however the Pleaant Hill and Vacaville stores are much more pleasant and fully stocked. read more

PROs The store is filled with lots of fun and interesting items. It makes me WISH I were more crafty and knew what to do with all the stuff. I've found staff at the registers to be friendly. CONs: Management, however, appears youthful and indifferent towards their customers. Short version: signed up for a knitting class, and it's so far been rescheduled twice. The first time, I was notified. The second time, I found out only after I drove all the way down there that the instructor had canceled (I was told the instructor had a family emergency the day before the class). The manager said the instructor was a "contractor" and not a Michael's employee, as if that explained why she didn't care that her customers were being inconvenienced. Her response was essentially "Take it or leave it. You can have a refund if you don't like it". Follow up - instructor never contacted us about rescheduling the class. Got a refund. read more

This place has gone downhill. I find it really hard to find everything I need for my projects. Ribbon is almost always out of stock in certain colors or that isle is always a mess. And when I do need help it takes me forever to find someone. Note: most assistant needed buttons they have on locked items don't work. And when checking out more than half the time there is only one cashier, always takes forever to check out. Ps. I guess Thursday is when they get shipments in, but with that being said, they never know what they're getting. read more

Seriously Michelle or whatever the "Assistant Manager" names is, was completely rude and unhelpful. I have been to this store twice in one day! And each time she's been no help, and her attitude was like she didn't even want to be bothered! I came my first time to pick up a few items and walked around for several minutes because there is literally 3 people working the entire store! Finally I got to the line and it was ridiculously long with all three workers taking there sweet time. The clerk was nice but you could see the "assistant manager" giving everyone attitude. After I left I returned about 30 mins later since I realized I forgot Velcro! I walked around the store once and couldn't find it, so I walked back to framing and found a woman (assistant manager) standing there. I asked her and she responded by not even looking u land point to go to the front of the store and look. I get there and there is no Velcro only cake items and seasonal decor! So I ask the register lady and she points to the BACK OF THE STORE, and says last aisle. I walk back there no Velcro. Finally I'm boiling I been in the store 30 mins with no help. Eventually I find a guy who helps me by walking me to the item. (A 15 sec walk) Just ridiculous to add a cherry on top I get to the register and the lady tells me I have to sign up for email coupon and she can give me a coupon (that I had used earlier) that day. Really that's it Michaels never again, and you sorry excuse for management! read more

I always enjoy coming in Michael's. Back when I was scrapbooking, then trying to think of crafty idea's for xmas/vday gifts, bakery supplies, and now swarovski beads and chains. I think when it comes to most things, Michael's is reasonably priced. Then again, when you're from Vallejo do you really have a choice? Its the only craft store in the entire town! But I do love the atmosphere that just whisks you away and allows you to think of all these things you can create. Not to mention their frequent 40% off single item and 20% off entire purchase coupons! When it comes to swarovski crystals, I'd rather look elsewhere. You can find better deals on the internet or even etsy! But for everything else, I will happily continue to come here! read more

I love to create things; whether it be painting, drawing, or baking! So you KNOW I like my local Michael's store. I swear I am here at least once every two weeks! Pros: -Sale bins! I mean, a dollar for yards of ribbon or a coffee mug?! Amazing. -They pretty much have EVERYTHING. Cons: -Workers there are very unattentive. I once was in an aisle staring at cake boxes with a worker (and her ladder) just inches from me. The lady NEVER asked me if I needed help. -Some things can be a tad pricey. I.e. cake boxes. $1.29 or so for a small cardboard box? Forreal? All in all, I will come back. I mean, it's just a short drive away from my house, so why not? Plus, I don't think any of my creative urges will (ever) go away any time soon! read more

I was treated like a superstar here. I had to speak to the customer service rep about a exchange and she was super nice. I had to ask for help during my shopping visit and there was someone available to direct me politely. I also did some shopping and found what I needed and more in the clearance aisle. The aisles do seem a little messy but its not like a dawn of the dead messy like some places you go. I came in today to find a frame for a piece of art I pictured this weekend. Ron from the framing department was amazing. He showed me various frames and after purchased, he helped me with the framing. He was amazing. On top of the amazing customer service, the frame was one of the 50% of items. Cindy, the manager, was extremely helpful with my very large cumbersome order of many huge heavy duty canvases as well as other items. She got me one of the large carts from the back (her offer) , fetched what I needed including getting down bulky canvases and loading them up. Then she drove them out to my car in the rain to help me load into my car. I was amazed at this wonderful service. I hope Cindy is there every time I go to this Michaels. She gave me incredible service, as well as applied as many discounts to my order as possible without my even asking! Thanks again Cindy! read more

The three L's of bad business apply to this Michaels store - Lousy, Lame & Lacking. Stopped by there today and this time, the fault is mine for receiving bad service. You know that saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.... Almost a year ago I visited the store to buy some jewelry supplies, close to closing time. My husband and I walked in and were greeted with an extremely loud hello, welcome to Michaels. You might ask, what's wrong with that??? Isn't that what you want, for someone to greet you when you walk in? Maybe, it depends. You see, I worked in retail long enough to know that most of the time when you're greeted at the door, it's to let you know that they see you so don't try any funny stuff in the store. Fine, doing their job. So we proceed to the bead aisle and the Swarovski crystals, which I have been purchasing at this location for years. The young lady who helped me by 'unlocking' the precious, extremely valuable crystals started to hand them to me so that I could take them to the counter but her supervisor ran over to exclaim 'you have to take these to the counter for her, we will hold them there'. Really. Really??? It just didn't sit right with me, but I continued to shop, thinking about the behavior and tone. I purchased them because I wanted to finish a project that evening, but it didn't sit right with me. I talked to the cashier about it, and she genuinely seemed offended that I would question their 'long-standing policy' of not allowing customers to hold on to an item barely worth $4.99 while they continued to shop the various other over-priced items in that unkempt store. Hubby and I leave the store. We didn't get far before I explained to him how I felt and we went back to the store to return the items. I once again questioned them about the policy, explaining that I have never had anyone tell me that they had to walk some beads to the cash register for me in all my years shopping there. Once again, it was explained to me as 'store policy'. In turn I explained to him my policy, which is that if I'm not good enough to handle their merchandise as an adult and consumer then they obviously didn't need my money or business. Case closed, for the time being. I got soft and went back a couple of months ago because they were the only store around that carried the type of jewelry displays I needed, and I needed them in a hurry. Next, I got a 40% off coupon, and the rest they say is history until today. I walk up to the checkout area...it was deserted and I walked straight up to the next available counter. "The checkout line is back there ma'am.' Um...if you had just moved your head 45 degrees you would have noticed the ghost town behind you. As soon as I walk away to get in 'the checkout line', someone else walks up, and I get in line behind them, just to be fair. This lady ahead of me had a lot of issues and was going to be taking a while, and I just thought, this is so not worth the trouble of dealing with the uncaring, lame, lazy, self-concerned and petty attitudes of most of the cashiers in that store. Convenient or not, I will be happy to pay toll and drive at least 15 miles to be treated like worthwhile consumer. read more

This store is ok. I usually find what I'm looking for but with no real help from the staff. This weekend I went in to look for some clothes pins and was given 3 different places to look and never found them. I do appreciate the selection of their other items they have but their prices are always high to me. Oh and I found the front door cashier a bit annoying, he was yelling good morning to everyone that walked in, I could hear him from the back of the store. I dislike this location. I may be biased because the Michaels in my previous home (Marina, Ca) was fully stocked, clean and very helpful. Here is not the case. There almost is never anyone around to help locate items, lines with one cashier and NOTHING IS STOCKED OR CLEAN. I've been there so many times for various items and usually I leave buying nothing. One time the entire back wall of double pointed needles was practically empty, the yarn section is atrocious, but the paper section is pretty nice. read more

EVERYTHING HERE IS A RIP-OFF, they mark up the prices and then give you a discount or allow you to use coupons to make it seem like you're saving money. I made the mistake of getting a picture framed here, they gave me "70%" off, the receipt saying the original value was almost $500, when in no reality would this job have cost that much. I loved Michael's until today. Your stupid return policy is ridiculous. I purchased something about 2 days ago. Not used but I have my receipt. But you're telling me I can't return them because the stupid tags aren't on them?! They were handwritten sticky tags?! You could easily put on another one!!! These haven't been used and you can't take it back? You gotta be kidding me! I came all the way here in the rain just to do this! How bout you change that policy. Don't come here if you expect service of any type. Yes, you can come in and pull stuff from the shelves and buy it, but anything beyond that you're just out of luck my friend. It's astonishing how terrible and unprofessional this place is, considering that other locations actually have competent employees. I come here often because it's the closest one to where I live. Customer service is horrible. I have been coming to this Michaels for years. Heres one experience I had. I was looking for a specific time and saw an employee coming toward me. I began to ask her where the item was and before I could even finish my sentence, she puts one finger up and says..someone will be right with you. What???!!! Apparently she was too busy to help me herself. So rude!!! Who does that??!! To add to that, there's never anyone available to help me when I'm looking for an item. There were few instances hat I've received help, and it was usually a male employee. I ask frequent the Michaels in Fairfield. I've AWAYS had great customer service. The employees on the floor and the cashiers are very helpful and kind. Go to Fairfield! You won't be disappointed. read more

A friend and I signed up for an art class here. We got there early to purchase supplies. When we asked an employee where we could purchase the specific materials required for the class, he wasn't aware there was a class that day, went to check and then said that the instructor hadn't arrived yet. He pointed us in the general direction of where the supplies should be (we never found the materials). We went to the classroom area, nothing was set up, and the class start time came and went with no one showing up. Another employee (who I must say was trying to be helpful) was trying to call the manager over to help us, but after repeated attempts he was unsuccessful. Trying to be helpful he explained that she was helping another customer (I highly doubt that, since customer service at this store has always been virtually non-existent) and would be with us shortly. When she finally showed up, she explained that the instructor had a last-minute emergency and wasn't going to be there. In reading other reviews here, it seems that the last-minute emergency excuse has been used before. I don't buy it. None of the employees were even aware that there was a class that day. There was absolutely no apology from the manager. We were told that we could reschedule the class to the following week. There was no offer for a refund, we had to ask. Begrudgingly they refunded my money. She had an uncaring and somewhat nasty attitude and I felt as if I was inconveniencing her with my request. I have been to other Michaels stores and every one has been so much better that this one. You'd think with all the negative customer service reviews they would pay attention and improve, but apparently that isn't the case. If I could give this place less than one star I would. read more

Yesterday I went to Michael's to pick up some yarn for a project. There were many big stocking carts in every isle, in the yarn section, so I had to abandon my cart, which wouldn't fit down the aisles. A store employee saw me trying to move one of the big carts and said, "I'll move this to the back, we had a big order today". He didn't bother to move any of the other 6 carts that were in the way. I grabbed my yarn and moved to another section of the store which also had a maize of big stocking carts so I decided they really did not want anyone shopping in their store and went to check out. The USUAL two check out people were open and there were 8 people in line. One checker was busy with a manager and customer trying to get a refund as she was overcharged $5 which took the whole time I stood in line. So there was one checker open for the 20 minutes I stood in line. It's not even the busy Christmas season yet!! Oh, and my yarn didn't show a price on the shelves!! I have had it with this Michael's, it's not worth the frustration of trying to shop here, I will be going to Hobby Lobby from now on!! read more
