This Michaels is located in a plaza with Traded Joes. There are plenty of parking. The store is packed full of crafting and art supplies. What caught my attention was the floral section. It was massive. They have seasonal summer flowered that are rather expensive, most of which are $9-$10 per bunch. Luckily there are spring season flower sales, which range from 30-50%. Some of the florals and greens are more realistic than others. However, these would be great and timeless alternatives for event decor. The baking section was pretty good too. They had a lot of the kitchen ware in stock, like pans, plastic cutting boards, cake packaging, etc. I personally got 2 kitchen oven mits, which were good quality and was priced competitively compared to other stores. The store also has a coupon deal of 30% off one item. They were kind enough to advertise at entrance right by the door. The customer service here is also very friendly. At the cashier check-out, a kind lady helped me check the price of something. I noticed she patiently did the same for others with a great attitude. Overall, I had a positive shopping experience at this Michael's and would 100% come back. read more

This store needs to be audited. I don't know if other locations are like this too, but everytime I shop at this location the price tags are always wrong. It's gotten to a point where I take pictures of all the prices of things I'm going to purchase because at least have my items ring up at a different price and then an employee has to go and check that the tag had a different price. read more

I came here to get a couple of pictures framed and it was such a fantastic experience. Thanks to this young lady Claire who did such an amazing job. She's got such a sweet smile and is so pleasant. Came in to buy some thread to match a dress because I had a $5 coupon from their rewards. They had a decent selection but definitely not with as many options as Joann's fabrics, which is expected as this is more of an overall craft store. I found out that they take the discount off your lowest priced item in your purchase, with a max of $5. So if you buy a $1 item, the coupon only takes off $1, so you are better off paying in a separate transaction. read more

If you are into arts and crafts, this is your place to go. They have such a wide variety, and its great to be able to come in person and see and feel what you are purchasing. There is a huge yarn section, plenty of ribbon options, holiday decor, artificial flowers, stickers, frames, and much more. If you are on the lookout for frames, they often have great discounts. The buy one get 2 frames free is an awesome sale. I recently went in for a custom frame for an art piece we have, and Claire helped us. I've visited this location a few times now & service varies from time to time, but on my most recent visit I was given the best customer service from this lovely young lady by the name of Lily (hope I got the name right, sorry if I got it wrong). I came in looking for some decoration flowers for pieces I intend to use for my upcoming wedding along with other items. I first encountered this lovely associate towards the back of the store, my sister & I found some decorations flowers towards the back where they have clearance items & Lily happened to be close by restocking a nearby aisle. My sis & I approached her & asked if she'd be able to use her scanner to confirm pricing for a few items. She assisted us, took some time to hear us out about ideas for my wedding ideas & she provided some good feedback. My sis & I needed help for a few other items & she directed us to aisles where we could find them. After finding the items we wanted to purchase we went to the register to check out & guess who was at the register? Lily again. As she scanned out items my sister changed her mind about some other flowers she had left behind & asked me to go get them. I apologized for the inconvenience as there was another customer in line & apparently that customer couldn't wait a minute & rudely left. My sis felt bad about the lost customer, but Lily was very kind & said not to worry about it & congratulated me on my upcoming nuptials. I hope this Michaels location gives this young woman the recognition she deserves. She made me feel like a valued customer, & it meant so much to me that she took the time to hear me out. We are just at the end of our whole house remodel on a budget. I really felt the need to review Michael's. We have had several pics framed by them, and they have done a phenomenal job!! My son & daughter-in-law are pretty well-known artists, and I have really never had any of their work framed and put up because my house was so outdated and just a mess!! The first picture we had framed was at a small, family owned framing place not too far from my house. They were fine and did a good job, but when they told my hubby & me how much it was going to cost, we were both a little shocked. We went ahead and had them frame it anyway, but never again!! We have been going to Michael's ever since and had many pics framed. They have done a great job, and I will say that the customer service at Michael's is better than the other framer, and they are half the price!! I took in two small pics that my daughter did, and I picked a black frame for them, but when I put them up, they really bothered me. The frame was too wide and dark for the pics. They did tell me that, but I really wasn't thinking. I brought them back, and they redid them, no charge!! Now, I love them! They also put a different color matt on a big one I had framed for over my mantel. Once I put it up, I realized it was too dark for the bricks behind it. No charge!! Basically, they want you to be happy! And I am!! All the people who have helped me there have been great, very kind, and helpful. For me to write a review, experience has to be either exceptional or exceptionally poor. I walked to the front of the store to ask the clerk a question, and whoever was working the checkout stand around 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 23rd was one of the rudest service clerks I have ever encountered. There was no line, but she looked at me, pointed, and stated, "The line starts over there." She then pointed down to the end of the aisle. She wanted me to walk all the way around to line up behind faux barriers, even though once again, there was no line. I will make sure to never stop at that Michael's again. read more

I won't give this location a one star based upon the actions of one employee because my experiences with Michael's, the company, as well as numerous other Michael's employees have been very positive. However, today's experience was so bad that I felt compelled to report this because it was outright and blatant racism. When I reported it to a manager, the manager was kind, attentive, apologetic and understanding. What more could I ask for? But, the employee? Stubborn and smug. I ordered something online and went to my nearest Michael's to pick up. As I was told, I picked out my order from the rack and then showed it to the employee. When I got back to the car, I noticed that one item was not included but it wasn't this location's fault. Michael's listed on my email confirmation that the item needed to be picked up at the Tusin location. I wished that would have been made more clear because it was in fine print but that's ok, no problem. I drove to the right location. I walked to ythe pick-up rack to look for my little package and this employee comes over to shut the doors and snapped, "Ma'am, I don't want you looking through my cabinets!" I replied, "Oh, I'm sorry! This is my first time here and the other location has us pick up and take it to the staff but I guess stores might have different policies. No problem." She sneered, "You need to wait in line!" I said, "No problem." I wasn't in any rush and I'm usually a very good rule-follower and I'm generally very nice and patient. So I walked around and stood in line while she finished with her customer. She says, "Next in line." And I walked up to her with a smile and she said, "My line starts over there and you need to go back in line!" Get this: There was no other person in line but me that whole time. So, I look back and there's a woman just starting to enter the cue. The employee says, "Go back in line." I let the other woman go in front of me but then, I got irritated and said very loudly, "Are you kidding me?!? I was the only one in line! I got here way before this person!" She just ignored me. I continued with my now loud tirade that this was ridiculous! And how she saw that I was the only person in line. So she says to the manager, "Will you take care of her?" I told the manager what happened and she was very kind and understanding and said she definitely will talk to that employee Jenny. It was clear this woman didn't like me from the first moment she saw me. Why? I apologized for going up to the pick-up cabinet and said the other location has a different policy but it was ok and that I had no problem waiting in line. There wasn't one except for the customer she was serving at that moment. I am not white. And I wouldn't call the race card except I now personally know family and friends who have been on the unfortunate end of racist behavior here in OC. Snide comments, being looked over for service in retail and restaurants. Honestly, I thought society was becoming better than this but apparently not. Michael's the company makes a big deal out of "diversity and inclusion" at the corporate level. I love Michael's and shop here as opposed to Hobby Lobby because of this. Their service to pick up packages for ups is the worst. I received notification that a package was delivered to this access point and the employees along with the manager claim that the notification is incorrect. He goes to mention that sometimes ups claims the package has been delivered but they don't receive it in their possession until 2 days later like really ? Blatant lie because he didn't want to spend the extra two minutes. The store wasn't even busy so I'm not sure why they wouldn't put that effort to check for the package. the ups delivery notification even stated that a person named Tiffany had received the package. I've only ever been to Michael's 3x in my life and in those 3 visits (to different locations), this has got to be the biggest and most neat and well-stocked. However, not being a craft-sy sort of person, I find myself a bit lost in this emporium of glue, glitter, plastic flowers, paints etc being so non-craft-sy as I am so, after about 5 minutes of whizzing down the aisles looking for things to complete lil guy's school project, I lost my patience and asked an associate for help. She guided me down the aisles, but eventually led me to a wrong one. Luckily I saw the item in question as we were whizzing through. No smiles from this associate and she tried to crack a joke but failed to garner a laughter. Hmmm.... no wonder I don't shop here I thought to myself. I spent about 15 mins in there, bought a few items and just wanted to escape!!! It's funny because yesterday I went to Fry's with hubby and it was the same 'fish out of water' feeling I got while there as I did here. Why do schools make parents help with school projects? I hate projects. I'm not creative in the scrapbooky sense, nor do I find making cute little things therapeutic. Asked one employee about a recipe box and she didn't even stop to visually acknowledge me, just said "nope, don't have any" as she walked by. The cashier was very aggressive when we tried using Samsung Pay at the register, insisting in a loud and very accusatory tone that it won't work when I know for a fact that it would. I chose Michaels for my daughters' birthday party. We chose the slime theme. The manager and associate who helped us on the day of the event were very accommodating and friendly. I was able to preview the space a few days prior, so that I knew what was available in the room. On the day of the event, I was able to decorate all tables, move things around, and post items (photo booth, streamers, signs) on the walls. The slime package included designing & decorating a t-shirt and adding beads & sequins to our selected slime (which had been prepared for us ahead of time). Fun and well priced. read more

Oh Michaels...I love your store, but please...answer this one question.. WHY IS THERE ALWAYS ONLY ONE CASHIER WORKING!? I see 10+ people on the floor, but only 1 at the cashier register!? This isn't for the Tustin location, it's for ALL the locations! It makes me crazy...I cringe just thinking about coming to Michaels and feels like a horrible punishment every time I have to get something. Art supplies aren't cheat and I suppose are considered luxury items. In my rush to grab and go I have on a couple instances failed to triple check the items I purchase. So you can imagine my dismay and disappointment when I got home to find I was short 3 paint jars. Of course they're also the colors I need. When I tried calling the store I kept getting hung up on even though there was still an hour to closing. Will need to follow up this review after I return to the store to make my return. This is a consistently good Michael's location overall but it sure seems like they get along check out line very quickly! They always have all sorts of fun and useful seasonal craft and decorative items. It is great to stop in and see what nice holiday items they have, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is my FAVORITE Michael's. Every time I come in here I'm greeted and helped by their fantastic staff! They have a great supply of what I need and are always happy to help a small business. I find much better prices here than at any wholesale or outlet and their quality is better. Their return policy is amazing! Keep your receipt and you can return items up to 180 days. The rewards program is very beneficial and I love getting emails about their door busters. Michelle is without a doubt the most gracious and helpful. Made an order online, for a dessert tiered tray. It clearly states on paper the item number and description of item. When I picked it up and walked out to check out my other items it was the wrong item.... When I waited in the frame area, the young guy tells me "are you just going to stand there" I was like, I'm sorry you were with another customer I was waiting for you to help them. Really, the employees could use some more kindness here. I was being patient didn't want to bother him while he was with another customer. I also called to hold 2 items for me this afternoon, when I asked no one had anything on hold for me. The lady said "oh you probably spoke to someone who has already left" a she didnt even bother to find out who left and who may have helped me. Extremely frustrated. Way over staffed with (5) employees at 530pm on a Monday evening and there is a huge line to just check out... and they feel so rushed to check you out... wont be coming back here to this location. read more

A few weeks ago, I was here and ran into a cashier who was being a smart ass. She was old so I let it slide. Today, I was there again with my daughter and all three (3) employees that we had the misfortune of speaking to were all quite rude. We were looking for black tule for a Halloween costume. They had 2 roles on the shelf. Looking above the shelves, you'll see they have boxes stacked 2 high. This is where they keep the overstock. I've seen employees bring stuff down from up there. So naturally I was surprised when I asked employee #1 if they had more black tule. She said if its not out on the shelf, they don't have anymore in stock but I could check back next week. Knowing this to be a lie, I walked around until I found another employee stocking shelves. She had a lanyard with some keys around her neck. But the lanyard said something about store manager. I asked her the same thing. She was at least kind enough to scan the item and look up the store inventory on her computer/scanner. She didnt smile at all and she seemed annoyed, but I at least she tried so I let her slide. On our way out, we saw something that we could use for my daughters costume. But since we couldn't find where it was stocked, I told my daughter to ask the lady at the Customer Care counter. My daughter went on her way to ask. After a few seconds, I went to the front to see how she was doing. What I saw was my daughter walking from one side of the counter to the other, essentially following the employee from one side to the other. I hear my daughter asking the employee, but from where I was standing, the employee looked like she wasn't listening at all. In fact, she called out to customers in line saying she was open and could check them out, all while my daughter is still asking this employee about the location of this item. At about this time, the employee looks up and sees me looking her way. Immediately she puts on a fake smile and then pretends to listen more intently and then gesture towards the area where she thinks the item may be. Right about now, I'm thinking everyone that works in this store must hate their job. I decide to go ask the store manager again. When I found her, I said, "excuse me.." to which she replied with a "what?" without even lifting her head. Wow. I ask my question and get a short response with a side of attitude. After walking out, my daughter even said she thought everyone in the store was mean. I told her in the future we'll do our craft shopping at Joanne's. It's farther, but at least we don't leave the store upset that some dumbass employee was being rude. read more

This crafts store is located in a shopping center off of Irvine Blvd. and Newport near a Ralphs supermarket. This place is clean, well-stocked, and their prices are competitive with other crafts stores such as Jo-Ann. I'm sure I'll be coming back soon for more crafts supplies. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm to pick up a few things. All the Christmas stuff had just gone on sale and there was a long line. No matter, I was on a mission to buy yarn for my mom that I knew was on sale because I had been to the Yorba Linda location and had bought all of it out there. This location is a disaster. Even with the sale of the Christmas stuff, the Yorba Linda location was fairly neat and organized. This place was just a mess. There was stuff all over the ground, stuff in the wrong aisles, stuff blocking the aisles. It is also impossible to find someone to help you out here. Walking around, I did not see any workers except at the front. I get to the cashier to check out and some red haired, Lindsay Lohan wanna-be teenager refused to check me out because the price was ringing up wrong. I kept insisting it was the right price because I had just come from the Yorba Linda Michael's location but she refused to sell it to me. I would have asked for the manager, but I overheard another worker say the manager was not there. I was going to ask if she wanted to call the manager, but she seemed to be done with me and trying to get me to leave. At that point, I was done with her, told her to cancel everything that she already rang up, and walked out the door. I am never returning to this location again. I'm gonna stick to the Yorba Linda location and I recommend going there instead. read more
