The holiday selection at HomeGoods is far superior to almost anything around. It's a mix of Big Lots, Rite Aid, Michaels, and Macy's. The variety is impressive. My only issue is with such a small store, the holiday's usually take over a good 1/3 or even 1/2 the store making regular everyday things a little harder to find. What I do love is the name brands they carry. Last Christmas, the had some Lenox dishes. And while they are less expensive, a full set can still run a hundred or so dollars, but it's better than the 3-4 hundred at Macy's. The store still feels a big junky and disjointed. Not as bad as Goodwill, but sections can feel close. You also have to look carefully at what you're buying. We were looking for a laundry basket, and it took a while to find one that wasn't damaged. And not everything is cheaper. We found a better and less expensive garbage can at Costco, so do you price comparisons. The people that work there are nice enough. I haven't had to ask anyone of the floor for help, the checkers do take the time to wrap what you're buying if you ask them. And on a plus side, they actually have restrooms! This is good since the mall no longer exists.

Since we have two members within our household, that's two bottles a month! I decided to host my own wine tasting at home with those wine and Home Goods in city of Orange definitely made my life much easier by carrying all kinds of beautiful drink ware and home decor for me to entertain my guests. The prices at Home Goods are always great to begin with, and since tax is lower in Orange County than in LA County, I save even MORE money when I shop here. The cashiers here were very efficient and the lady helping me took her time wrapping all my ceramic plates and wine glasses. They also have REALLY cute reusable bags there, which is a HUGE plus for me because I collect all their bags! I can't wait to come back here the next time I am in the area.

I blame it on the remodel the completed a few years ago. Trying to go for a more "home feel" setup, it feels like some categories are separated and you have to hunt a little more. I do use the app and love the idea that it will tell you aisle something is in. And while the aisle are better labeled than Walmarts, they aren't consistent and it can be just as frustrating looking for the ailse number as it finding the item you need. Target does get a thumbs up for the ease of returns. I have the Target card to save 5% on every purchase, and you can just swipe that card and as long as your used that card for the purchase, they can find it with no receipt required. I love that. Where they need to improve is self-checkout. They only have 4 registers (as opposed to Walmart which has 12ish?). Even Vons has 8. They always have a person manning self-checkout to help if there's a problem, but there's been a couple time their regular checkout line is quicker. The little Pizza Hut is hit or miss if they have pizza available. I've noticed they've now added hot dogs, but the register that's near the little food court is now always closed. So, if you just want a pizza, or a slushie, you're stuck going to the self-checkout line.

Unfortunately, my experience with the cashier, Ava, was disappointing. Instead of handling my question professionally, she made a comment to a coworker right in front of me, saying, "Do you have wipes because this girl is asking for a discount." I found this remark rude, unprofessional, and unnecessary. As a customer, I should be able to ask about pricing or discounts on damaged merchandise without feeling mocked or embarrassed. I understand that employees may not have the authority to offer discounts, and I would have completely accepted a polite explanation. However, the way the situation was handled made me feel disrespected. Customer service should involve treating customers with courtesy, even when the answer is no. I hope management addresses this issue and reminds staff of the importance of professionalism and respectful communication.

My daughter pointed at a Highland cow plushie, and a worker who was standing around the shelf suddenly said, "That's twenty dollars." I hadn't asked how much it was, wasn't looking at the price, and honestly wasn't even having an interaction with her. The comment caught me off guard and made me feel like I was being judged based on whether I could afford it. My daughter ended up choosing a Precious Moments plushie instead. As I was walking toward the checkout behind my friend, the same employee, while she was checking out another customer, said to me, "Are you going to pay for that?" Obviously I was walking toward the cashier because I intended to pay for it. The way it was said felt extremely rude and made me feel like I was being treated as though I was trying to steal something. What really disappointed me was that I came in happy, with my daughter, simply wanting to browse and enjoy some time together. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. There are respectful ways to assist customers or ask questions without making them feel watched, judged, or suspected of something. I understand employees have a job to do, but customer service and the way you speak to people matter. There is a sizable fitness section towards the middle of the store, if you're looking to bulk up your home gym or practice (pun intended). Generally speaking, TJ Maxx/clothes/beauty is on the left when you enter and HomeGoods/decor/furniture is on the right. It's a combined line though, and I don't know why but it's the most brightly lit I've ever seen a checkout. Know what the numbers mean on the tags to avoid clothes made for TJ max and find the discounts on real brand deals. This place does have some great deals if you can avoid the distractions. They have a ton of purses and luggage too if you have time to dig. The home goods section is huge too! It is over filled so you do have to be cautious and avoid breaking stuff. Make sure all items are in tact before leaving. Overall same as any other location. The line can get long. Even when they have a lot of staff you'll wait 15-30 minutes to check out, avoid lunch time to shop if you're in a rush. I've found some good stuff here, I like to shop for little gifts for people and I'll definitely be back.
