I explained to her that this was rather sensitive because this was for a friend of mine undergoing chemo. She took at least 10 minutes helping me find what I was looking for. This store is poorly run. They've been closed all day with no previous notice. I've got an important UPS shipment to pickup at this location and they won't even answer the phone. I went in-person earlier and you can see employees wondering around inside, but refuse to communicate with would-be paying customers. There were many people outside wondering what's going on. 8 o'clock at night and they are still refusing to answer the phone with my property inside waiting for me to retrieve. Wow. Its sad to say but unfortunately every time I have been to this location I have been very disappointed. The stock levels for popular items are very low and there seems to be no communication to the team about restock. The customer service is out right horrendous. This location has never been great in all seriousness. The lack of selection in the yarn, and crochet/knit depts have always been an issue. They seem to focus stock priority on Cricut and scrapbooking. Will not be coming back now that they moved to all self checkout. It was hard enough to find an associate before to ask for assistance but now no one is in site except to monitor the self checkout. This was a business package and now i'm out serious money. Do not risk your sanity by dropping off any UPS packages here! We decided to do a real living Christmas tree this year and I went to Michael's to get all stuff! They have an amazing assortment of ribbon, sprays and picks and I was able to make all the bows and decorations easily. It took a few hours to complete but was well worth it. A terrible experience and will never recommend anyone to this place, especially the framing department. They spoiled my $1000 worth painting by overstretching it and conveniently blames the painting quality and telling this is an after effect of stretching. The painting had stretch lines all over it, after I raised my concern this decreased the stretch and had to alter my painting to restore it to a certain level. The quality and workmanship of the framing department is extremely poor and they all should be fired. read more

First time doing custom framing. Didn't realize they do it all in-house and the people at the custom framing are usually the ones who work on the frames so they really give good suggestions on what works, what doesn't. Getting my custom frame took 3+ weeks but worth the wait. read more

I've gone here almost my whole life. I've only used curbside pickup twice but I have had 2 different experiences. The wait time really depends on how busy they are so if waiting 10-30 minutes is an issue, just shop in store. Otherwise, in store there aren't many workers who are walking around to help. So a tip I have is to look online if they have it and in which aisle the product is in. So mainly: not many workers there to help, curbside is a bit time consuming if busy, sometimes things aren't in stock and are hard to find but overall it's a pretty good place being neat and clean! read more

My mom and I were so excited that a Michael's opened up on El Camino! The location is perfect and the amount of parking is great! The store is organized very well and very welcoming by the staff. She was super helpful and friendly, and told us about the events they hold on Sundays, urging me to bring my daughter as it would be fun for her. Super easy to talk to and a people person all around. I went there to have an estimated idea of framing an oil painting. The clerk refused to give any estimate until I bring the actual painting in. She refused to even I gave her the size of the painting citing an 1/8 of an inch difference due to canvas thickness! What kind of customer service this place has? Totally disappointed with this location. I was put on phone hold for 45 minutes. I drove from San Francisco to Santa Clara and they never came back on the line. I hung up, called back, and same thing. Keep in mind, they were suppose to be looking for and item. When I finally got to speak with an associate, and tell them that I was looking for a "Christmas Tree", they were the most unhelpful people showing no intelligence whats so ever. It's a wonder that we are losing the "brick and mortar " stores to the online purchasing giants. Frustrating. Michaels looks like a fun place to work, I would think the associates would be up beat and willing to help. A craft store brings people together through imagination and creativity. first I like Michaels. This is the new one that opened in sunnyvale on the el camino. The Store is big and clean,but,..that does not matter when the smell of cinnamon is so STRONG it smells like a cinnamon bomb went off in the entire store...it was truly horrific and I Like the smell of cinnamon this made my nose hurt... there are people out there who are sensitive to smells and this would be awful for them...I wonder how many potential customers they lost who turned right round back out the door. This review is for the Sunnyvale location of Michaels. Specifically the framing department. The guy who is in charge there is a douchebag. Went there to get some ideas on framing two art pieces and get a quote from them. He was not interested in showing me the different options. I asked him to price me on some of the options I liked, he said company policy does not allow him to give a printout of the options and the price! I have given my business to Michaels many times in the past and I know that they give pricing. Every one of their competitor does. Sure enough, I went to San Jose Michaels on Kooser road where I usually go. She spent over 40 minutes with me patiently selecting various options. Printed them out and priced me on them. I've had nothing but bad experiences with this store. When ordering online, I read that my order would be ready to be picked up in store if I ordered before 3:00pm. I ordered at exactly 11:18am and over SEVEN hours later, I didn't receive a single notification. I checked my emails and texts, nothing. At 6:30pm, I decided to call the store and ask if anything went wrong with my order. I was put on hold three times by three different people. Neither one of them knew about my order and told me that there was no order placed under my name and order number, and before I could restate my name and order number, the person on the phone put me on hold again. Once they finally found my order (ten minutes later), they had the audacity to smart mouth me and say that my order was ready to be picked up seven hours earlier but was never picked up. I told them that I never got a notification from them, email or text, and asked if I was able to pick it up then. The person on the phone then said that they were closing in five minutes (they close at 7:00pm). My question wasn't answered so I asked again if I was able to pick up my order. The person on the phone then rudely said," Well if you make in in five minutes". It honestly felt so good to answer back and say, " I'm already here". If I was feeling a little bit pettier than I was, I would've gone in to pick my order up at 6:59pm just to make them stay after hours because a few minutes can't compare to seven hours.
