This right here is my heaven. I am so happy they opened one close by, it's been so long since I have been inside a Blick. I hope they are here to stay. They have everything you need, so many to see in a more compact layout. I think what I like about Blick compared to Michaels, is that the people that work there seems to be more knowledgeable about the items they sell. It also seems more centered on the "arts" compared to the "crafts" I do not know if that makes sense. Also, more higher end and great quality brands available here. I got some of my himi gouche and the nice paper blocks for watercolor/gouche. They run promos and discounts sometimes so make sure to check before you go. read more

This is like the Costco of all Blicks. I've been to various locations and this one is my favorite! Largest store out all of them with so many product selections. I'm not one to really spend a lot of time in a store and roam around, except for this one. There's so much to see. I love the selection here but the products here are overpriced. I've shopped here on a few occasions but wouldn't personally buy anything here unless I'm in a pinch and have an immediate need for a product. On my most recent visit here, I was shopping for Posca markers. The markers were locked in a case and I had to wait for an associate to help me unlock the case. It was hard to find an associate so I ended up having to bother an associate who was helping another associate restock shelves. The lock was kind of finicky so I waited a while for the associate to unlock and relock the case. I tried to walk to the cashier with the markers but the associate said I needed to wait for her to finish locking the case so she could walk with me. I asked her if they would honor the price on their website and she said she thought they would. The markers were $60 in the case but $38 on the Blick website. When I got to the cashier, the cashier said they wouldn't honor the price on their website and that even if I purchased it on their website, they don't do in-store pickups so I wouldn't get them for the price on their website. I ended up not buying the markers and buying some Posca markers from Target down the street. I really want to support smaller businesses but not at the expense of good customer service and reasonable pricing. read more

I love this store so much. There's such an incredible selection. I was in heaven in the brush aisle. They had a fun selection of little gifts and Knick knacks too. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. I will definitely be stopping by whenever I'm in the area. read more

Block is amazing. The store was fully stocked with everything that I needed. The employees are very knowledgeable and one of the employees helped me find the appropriate paper that is used with charcoal sketching. The prices were very reasonable, and I believe that they give discounts to teachers and art students. If you are looking for art supplies, I highly recommend making a trip to this store! I was excited to learn a Blicks opened in San Jose a few months ago. We've badly needed an independent art store since University Art shut its doors back in 2018 and Blicks has an excellent reputation. I finally had a chance to visit there today with my sister and it definitely didn't disappoint. It is a large, roomy store. Besides tons of art supplies, they offer cute kitschy items perfect for gift-giving. They also have a couple racks of adorable and funny greeting cards. I was surprised to see a uniformed security guard in the store and wondered what occurred to make his presence necessary. Or maybe it was a preventative measure. I didn't buy any art materials, but I scoped out several ideas for birthday gifts for an artist in my life. I did end up buying a Baggu reusable shopping bag with horses on it, a couple of greeting cards, a squishy toy, and two Good Luck Minis Fantasy Fun Packs. One is for my mom's birthday. She firmly told me, "no presents," but who can resist a bag of tiny plastic dragons and unicorns? My sister bought quite a few greeting cards to have on hand at home, and I wish I had done the same. They were so cute and original. Oh well, gives me a reason to go back soon. I hope Blicks finds much success in San Jose. read more

I have been buying from Blick since I was a little kid, using their print catalog to order with. I've been to a few locations of their Brick and Mortar, including the one in Las Vegas, and the ones in the East Bay. Ever since University Art up and abandoned us, we've had no good art supply stores to go browse through. Having Blick come to the South Bay is fantastic. So The store is neatly laid out, aisles are clearly marked, and they do have a really good selection. Not everything they sell on the website is in the stores, but there is definitely a good set of choices for every discipline in stock. They have very competitive prices, and decent discounts off of list prices, and they also offer a store branded version of nearly everything, which are of good quality and a fair price. Service-wise the employees are great. I've been three times since the grand opening, and the employees have been friendly every single time. I do have one complaint about the service, and that's just that the click and collect store pick-up from the website is very clunky to use. Rather than add your stuff to cart and ask for store pick up at the shipping section, you have to make a store pickup list and email it to them through the webform... It's very weird. And then you pay when you pick up rather than online. The employees help you figure it out, but it seems like the company could make the process easier on us and their employees. read more

This is one of the best art stores I have been in. It has a little something for everyone. It smells new, it's organized well, the color and light makes everything so aesthetic. There are sections for different mediums and so much variety. For someone like me that doesn't do much artistically, I was able to get some inspiration and gift items. The staff are friendly and there are clean, gender neutral bathrooms! Highly recommend. read more

I am so happy that a new Blick Art Supplies is open in San Jose. When I was up at the Oakland ovation a few months ago they said it was coming but I didn't realize how quickly. I am always impressed by the service. The people here actually seem to care and ask if you need help. They have actual art supplies here unlike big chain craft stores. For such a big city it is shocking that there wasn't an art store here and you'd have to drive an hour. Now it's here and I hope everyone visits to keep it going! read more

Finally a real art store in the South Bay! I've been to this chain when most of them were in San Francisco as Utrecht, it's previous name, when I went to art school. They always carried really good quality papers, brushes, pens, inks, and tools. They also carry quirky miscellaneous things. Anyway I purchased a mini sized sketchbook that can fit in my smaller purse when I'm out and about when I have ideas. Glad they still redeem student discounts (I am not a student anymore!) because such good quality supplies can be expensive. I'm just glad they're closer because going to University Art in Redwood City is far. read more

As someone who don't know much about art I went to ask for help , showed them my list , and they took care of me , they walked me through all the different sections and helped me get the stuff I need and even walk me to the register . I really want to like this place. I was really happy when it opened earlier this year. But increasingly I've found the customer service ranging from unhelpful to oddly hostile. It doesn't feel good when you are spending several hundred dollars on art supplies to be actively ignored and/or treated with overt sarcasm. Do better Blick's read more

I'm so grateful I don't have to drive into Berkeley or the city for art supplies and I can just hop over to San Jose. They have a good selection, price visibility could be better and the staff is great.
