This is a tiny yet magnificent art and trinket store right in the main part of ye olde Japantown. Parking is street only, but in Japantown that just means if there ios not a spot right in front then you'll be down a block or so. If needs must there is a city owned lot over by 6th and Jackson. So when I say small I'm not kidding. This place will be full with three people inside. The good news here is that if there is already someone inside they won't be in too long as it won't take more then ten to fifteen minutes-at the most-to cover the entire store. The owner is an artist herself, and has specialized in stocking only local artisan made items. A significant amount of what's inside is either stuff she has created herself, or stuff that she really likes. The soap, teas and chocolate bars all fir that last category. While a small space it is really well stocked with art items, cards, jewelry and in general a ton of whimsy. All items are gift wrapped to go by the owner when purchased. Pricing is whatever you want to spend. The smaller items-cards, chocolates, key chains etc can be picked up for just a couple of bucks, but some of the art and jewelry can get into the hundred dollar plus range. All in all this is the small package that really awesome things come in.

Cool unicorn skeleton earrings. Look at that detail :0

A little gem in San Jose's Japan Town! Supporting local artists, the owner presents the cutest array of handmade trinkets, jewelry, art, and other memorable items. The name follows through with the location - it's a very small store, but it took my friends and me a good 15 or so minutes to look through everything - A+ on the use of space! It's a fun stop to simply look around and see all the unique works of art and little baubles they have in stock. This is also the perfect place to find unique gifts, and they sell really cute greeting cards too! I bought a pair of unicorn skeleton earrings, which are the coolest little things ever.

Super charming art gallery/gift shop at the heart of Japantown in San Jose. I almost did not notice the tiny store (the cute decor seduced me!). The guy that was there the day I went (during Japantown Spring festival) was very nice and explaining that all they sell is from local artists and surely there are tons of artists in San Jose and surroundings making adorable embroidery purses, intricate earrings and, oh, those painted walls and floors. As some other Yelper described, I had the same feeling of being in an Etsy store converted into studio. Very nice.

They have a great variety of pens, notebooks, stickers, and thoughtful little gifts, and I was especially excited to see that they even carry Hobonichi. Whether you're into journaling, planning, or just want a unique gift, Maido is definitely worth stopping into. There was not much stafff around helping, I think only two people and they were both at the cash register, they weren't too talkative and didnt ask if we needed help, but im sure they would have if we asked, we just werent approached. Maybe they were short staffed that day.

The store is not big but fully packed. Very organized. We don't have too many gift store like this in the west bay . The store location is right by Vally fair mall , West San Jose . Many customers and quite popular. Parking is not easy if you come in the weekend . There are couple paid parking structures in the same area. I usually either come on the weekdays or Saturday morning to avoid the crowds.

As a fair warning, the tiny tiny gift shop is extremely limited in size. The path is extremely narrow due to objects being placed along both sides of the entire business and the space in itself is already tight. I came here a few days ago in hopes of finding a traditional tet outfit for my daughter. Although the selection seems a bit limited, the articles of clothing are clean, bright, and very easy on the eyes. A special TY to the lady behind the counter was very courteous and helpful during our search. While I was busy searching for the right design and look for the outfit my daughter couldn't help herself from grabbing a flashy spinner wand that blares out the most annoying tube. Lmao!! Go figure huh?? I decided to make that additional purchase and only asked if they had a wrapped or boxed wand since this one was clearly a sample it out. The gentleman behind the counter seemed agitated and wasn't friendly at all. A simple no would have been fine and the attitude could have totally been kept to himself. How unfortunate that the lady owner is this business's only saving grace. Not recommended if you are in any way claustrophobic or if you are expecting any kind of decent customer service. Thanks but no thanks to the non welcoming vibes!!
