IMHO As usual, the first store we drop into is Domus, whenever we hit Los Gatos. Who doesn't love perusing a beautiful gift shop featuring tons of kitchen gadgets, stationery, tableware, faux flowers, etc. I love seeing their seasonal merchandise displays. I'm so happy Domus Gift Shop is back! I used to shop at the Los Gatos and Willow Glen locations many years ago and was sad when they closed. The Los Gatos location opened back up in 2023, but I just found out about it. Stopped in today and they still have the best stuff. I saw so many things I wanted to buy, but decided to think about it a little more before I do. On my list is a retro kitchen clock that looks like the one from my childhood, cutting board with a built in lemon zester and knife sharpener, rechargeable lantern in a cherry blossom pattern, air fryer cookbook, onion saver, and a melamine bowl with a cute design on it. The staff was friendly and helpful, and their prices are reasonable. It was such a joy to be back at Domus! read more

Hooray! Domus is back in Downtown Los Gatos! It is great to see it again, after it was gone for many years. Welcome Back! My wife and I were so happy for its return. We used to shop here in its previous life.... On this visit we entered just to browse, but there are so many things stocked here that you didn't know you wanted to get... and then we got some of them... It happens here. The staff is very helpful. They take the time to discuss the pros and cons of the various items and help you decide without any pressure. The prices are reasonable as well. read more

My wife and I took some out-of-town visitors to Los Gatos for lunch and a walk around in late May. We stopped in Domus for the first time since the store re-opened last October. Domus did not disappoint. Although the new store is about half the size of the old Los Gatos location there was a wonderful mix of unique kitchen and household goods. There was also an extensive selection of distinctive greeting cards. I suspect there were some merchandise categories I missed. The store in bright and airy which makes it easy to see and peruse the stock. The staff was beyond pleasant and helpful. Prices seemed appropriate for the quality and unique nature of the merchandise. We have already been back once and will make this a regular stop in the future. read more

Domus is back! I happened to be driving through town a couple weeks ago and was surprised to see that Domus has returned to Los Gatos! This was THE store before there was a Sur la Table. Domus has useful things for the kitchen and household. You'll find thoughtful gifts for friends and family too. I'm happy to report that the service is just as good as before. And the owner Margaret is a joy to meet and speak with. Many of my friends used to shop Domus, but wasn't aware that the store had reopened. It's on their schedule to stop by, too! read more

I went to the Farmer's Market today then decided to check out the nearby shops. The merchandise in Domus was cute and unique. What was a total turn off was the lack of customer service. There were several women working in the store who were not busy until another customer came in and bought something. None of them greeted me nor acknowledged me as I walked around. I did notice they were friendly with other customers who came in while I was there. I'm not sure what caused their lack of polite treatment toward me. It could be that I was the only non-Caucasian person in the store. Maybe it was my very casual dress and zero make up. (I was reminded of that scene in "Pretty Woman", although I am much older than Vivian and was not dressed as a hooker, ha ha!) I'm sure these employees would not care that I will never step foot in their store again since there will be plenty of customers who will meet their preferences and keep them in business. (The reason I did not leave a 1-star review is because my experience could have been worse if they had spoken rudely to me.) read more

If I could give my shopping experience there 10 stars I would. Excellent customer service by Connie. She was so incredible. The store was busy as it was Sunday and she didn't rush me at all. Helped me to select three coordinating Christmas nutcrackers for a center piece. She helped me to find a coordinating table runner as well. She took her time and studied each nutcracker to make certain there were no flaws in the pairing or decorations. The store is simply filled with wonderful items for your home or gift giving. I cannot believe I have NEVER written a review for here. This place has been around since I can remember. When my family and I lived in Saratoga we used to come here on the weekends to do our "routine errands" : downtown, borders, peet's coffee then whole foods. I loved looking at the stickers, different coffee cups/ kettles, stationary and their little mini toys. I cannot remember how many bouncy balls, pencils, erasers and other things mom used to get me to either "shut me up" or because I had earned enough stars or something to warrant a small treat. Mom was a stationary/ pen fiend and loved getting stuff from here... or looking at stuff that she would never use but totally wanted. LOL. Now that I am older, I go here if William Sonoma is closed (like today) or just to take a looksy. I ended up getting some much needed biscuit cutters and perused the cook books they had at the front of the store. I appreciate the fact the women here leave you be unless you have a question and when you do have a question they are knowledgeable about the products/ they know exactly where things are. Now I can finally make even biscuits/ mini tart crusts (it is the small things in life you learn to appreciate). read more

I have had a long love affair with Domus. I went into the one in Pleasanton at least once a month for many years. Sadly, the owner retired, and that was that. I knew there were others, and when our *just the right size* coffee mugs began to run low...it was time for a road trip. I have built up a collection of Sorrento dishes for every day...they are solid colors, with nice edge details, rustic, heavy ceramic, very sturdy. Beautiful unique store...seasonal merchandise galore. Hubby and I spent awhile soaking it in before I chose 4 new mugs...the cream and the red made it into the bag as well as some great Caspari napkins for Thanksgiving (yes, it is my year)!! I love this shop...and will be back when my dishes need replenishing!! read more

Everyone's right. You should check out this place when you are in Los Gatos! It's dimly lit. They have cards on one end and cooking supply on the other. This place reminds me a lot of Sur La Table and the similar products they sell here. I feel that most of the cooking supplies here are cheaper than Sur La Table! Lots of "Oh! Cute!!" or "Oh my gosh! Yes, this place carries similar products and gadgets as Sur La Table but this place gears more towards "gifts" and the many things you can buy to pretty up your home/kitchen/dining area.. Better Half: *MEGA GROAN* This is the typical 'conversation' between us whenever we are in LG finishing up dinner at Gardinos or getting froyo at Delatti's. That's because Domus is located right on the corner between both the places on SC Avenue. And come on. You CAN'T walk by Domus without it beckoning you in. Especially if you're a kitchen-implement-whore like me. The bright colors and cute displays that pepper the front areas just call to you...'Come see how you can spend your money on insanely-useless goodies today.' So me, like the sucker I am, always end up inside ooh'ing and aah'ing. My husband gives me a time limit of a few minutes. Typically blames it on the fast-melting fro-yo container he's sullenly holding. Power shopping at Domus is really hard. But somehow I can make it work. Mini heart-covered cuppie holders. CHECK! Strangely large cupcake tips that won't end up fitting on my frosting gun anyway. CHECK! A cinnamon sugar sprinkles container. CHECK! Cake tester? No. Darn...Sur La Table didn't have one either. Where the heck do you buy this thing???? (Note to others...Crate and Barrel baby!!) They do have a fab selection of cool kitchen stuff you can't find elsewhere. To me there's no comparison between Sur La Table and Domus, they are totally diff stores with their own pro's and con's. That's okay, I just delight in going to both!! This is a fun place to shop. The first time I came here, I thought I was in two different places. Oh look! What a neat little stationery store. Oh wait, what's all this gourmet cookware and home decor doing here? It seems like such an odd juxtaposition of things as it appears to be two distinctly different shops attached together. That's Domus. They carry high-end paper goods and party supplies here. It's not Hallmark. On the stationery side of things they also have gorgeous gift wraps, lots of interesting children's toys and favors, soaps and lotions and trinkets galore. I always think I need some of these. There are many cute things you just don't see everywhere. Then, you go around the corner and you're in the home decor/gourmet cooking side of things. Here you can find nice table linens, shelves of glassware stacked so that they make me nervous to walk by (where's my purse dangling - please don't knock anything over!), outdoor garden accessories and candles. Go a bit further and you'll see beautiful dinnerware, calendars, cool cocktail napkins, paper plates and boxed gift cards (wait, don't these belong on the other side?). Then there's the Calphalon and other fancy pots and pans. Keep on going and you'll discover shelves of kitchen gadgets the likes of which only live at Crate and Barrel. If you need a strawberry huller, cherry pitter, egg slicer; you can get that and more right here. While you're deciding what knickknacks to purchase you can peruse the latest and greatest cookbooks. And then there are more linens, cake pans, cupcake papers and gewgaws on the other side. It's hard to walk out of here without buying something. This is a wonderful place for gift purchases as they will have things you don't find anywhere else. I always make it a point to do some holiday shopping here too. Domus is great for all things kitchen. I have a feeling this is the kind of place that you leave with very random purchases. In my one trip in i walked out with a sponge rest and a loose tea holder. Now, although these are two things I have been wanting, upon entering Domus I didn't think I would leave with both. For that I give it 4 stars! This is a great shop. They have so many different items: kitchen, bath, little toys, candles, floral stuff, cards and best of all, a wonderful selection of gorgeous ornaments during Christmas time. I get an ornament here every year. The staff is very friendly & helpful. There hasn't been one time I've gone in where the store wasn't clean & organized. Domus is a nice alternative if you need gourmet kitchen stuff and want to support a local chain and not Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table. The store is a bit cramped and can seem disorganized, but they have almost everything there. There's another section of the store that has stationary and cards and other gifts, most likely stuff you wouldnt' normally find anywhere else. So if you're in downtown Los Gatos, kill some time at Domus. You never know what you'll walk out with. read more

Today, as i walked by the store, a sign that said "STORE CLOSING" caught my attention. I couldn't believe it. I go here to buy gifts and other cool kitchen stuff. Right now everything is 25% off. I'll go later when things are 50% off. However i ran into some cute cards for my mom, gma, and my twin. Also saw this cute strawberry apron. I passed on it for now, because i'm really looking for a kitty cat one. I was told by one of the employees that, the store lease was up and it doubled in price. I really like this store not because of the cool items, but because of its close location to me. With gas prices you want things close. Especially walking distance. read more

Generally the only time I am in this store is when I am sneaking as quickly as I can from my parking spot in back through to Santa Cruz Avenue but I finally found something here that I wanted to buy, some cool greeting/birthday cards. Cute, kitchen and hostess knick-knacks are not for me, I like REI and Big 5 sporting goods (being a man) but I will silently walk along dates or sisters or Moms saying "oh that looks nice", "love that too", "really good choice" while I am in here just to keep the peace going smoothly. By the way, it is a huge store for Los Gatos, wonder what they are paying in rent? You have to sell a lot of cute junk to pay off that lease every month. read more

This seems like a place for grown-ups to shop for the miscellaneous items they can't find at Sur La Table or W.S. In comparison, this place may seem cheaper but many items are still quite pricey. I guess it is a decent place to shop and find housewares that would make unique gifts. But most of the items in here seem to be a bit random and not very useful. I personally would not want to clutter my kitchen or living area with non-useful items. I have come through this shop looking at stuff, and get bored pretty quick. Basically, Domus has everything a kitchen/cook/housewife/wannabe chef could ever want, but I still prefer Sur La Table and William Sonoma over this store. I always go in, but never actually buy anything. I am contemplating buying a paella pan for a friend on my next visit though.
