I could spend a whole day in this bookstore! This store carries so many different types of books, both used and new. The selection was overwhelming. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening, and it wasn't overly busy. I meandered through the aisles and was blown away by the genres/styles/options. Whether you love mystery or memoirs or illustrated novels or fiction, there is a book for you at Recycle Bookstore. What's more, since they sell used books, there are so many options at an extremely affordable price. I was able to pick up a Spanish vocabulary book for less than $5! The service was unremarkable, which is exactly what I want from a bookstore. I was able to slowly check out all the books without any rush/pressure. There was so much cute merch in the store as well, ranging from tote bags to stickers. If you're looking for a book to read or even some fun souvenirs, check this spot out! read more

Recycle Bookstore holds a special place in downtown Campbell and feels like a walk through memory lane. In an age where everything is ordered online and endlessly scrolled through on a phone app, this bookstore reminds me how important physical bookstores are to a community, right alongside public libraries. I love being able to wander the aisles, glance at titles, read the backs of books and discover staff picks or unexpected finds. There's something grounding about picking up a book, flipping through the pages, and deciding if it's coming home with you. Because it's a used bookstore, the deals are great, and you'll often find items that are harder to track down online or cost much more elsewhere. As someone who collects out-of-print graphic novels, especially indie titles from publishers like Image Comics, finding older first printings at reasonable prices makes every visit worthwhile. The shop has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff is genuinely pleasant and knowledgeable. I truly appreciate this place and what it represents. It's always worth stopping in and supporting a local bookstore like this. read more

A Campbell staple, Recycle Bookstore specializes in gently used and new books, offering something for everyone in almost every niche. I loved browsing their variety in the literary fiction and historical fiction genres. They also have a lot of seasonal cards, stationary, and fun keychains. The staff are super sweet and helpful! I love this bookstore so much! read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2025 August 12, 2025 After dinner at Blue Line Pizza we stopped by Recycle Bookstore. Upon entering I was greeted by the friendly clerks behind the counter. The has an extensive display of pins and stickers that featured spots that used to be in business in San Jose like Orchard Supply Hardware etc. I inquired with the staff behind the counter where I could find the Edward Gorey bag I saw in the window. They pointed and said it was on the right hand side of the shop. After picking up my Edward Gorey bag other bags, I asked a clerk where I might find any Edward Gorey books. They seemed uncertain and after ten minutes of dealing with two staff it ended with - we don't have any inventory of what books are here in stock. It felt like a wild goose chase. I ended up buying a few Edward Gorey canvass bags, other canvass book bags, Ina Garten's newest book, a book on Chinese fairy tales. My total was around $130. Used Apple Pay and was on my way. The shopping experience seemed lack luster in customer service. I'll stick to Books Inc. SYOY, sweet noelle Noelle's Notes Skip it read more

We need more local bookstores like this! The window display totally pulled me in and I'm glad I didnt just walk by. The used books looked almost new, and the mix of new and used titles was really solid. There's a lot of current as well as quirky books to peruse. Also loved the cute cat shirts and all the cat books. Definitely coming back! read more

Super cute and homey shop with a great selection of used books. You can find some new ones here too. There's a fantastic kids section. Prices are good and service is fast. Bonus , there's a Starbucks right across the street. So either grab a cup and go explore the books or grab a book and then go read with your coffee. read more

I love a good book store ... and this one has a cat! It's great the mix of old, used, and new options ... every possible genre. I literally spend hours when I come here browsing and never leave empty handed. I endo appreciate the honest explanation from the folks here on the trade in values of books I'm bringing to them to sell and trade (much better than the other location - where I first took some of my books and where, thankfully, I did not accept the offer which was nearly four times lower than this location gave me for trade in.) Books are mostly well and fairly priced and generally in very decent condition dot ion if used. I've been able to find done great daughter after hard backs for my ever growing shelves of books! Thanks Recycle Bookstore for supporting my book acquisition addiction! read more

We love a bookstore that closes until 9 pm! I was wandering around downtown Campbell and found this hidden gem! I've been to the downtown San Jose location, and this location has such a wide selection of books. I was amazed by the breadth of literature they had. They had so much Asian authors that I've been looking for. It's a great value to support bookstores like these that give used books to find new owners. I ended up getting three books for myself! Would come here again! read more

This is a nice bookstore to go to. It seems that these books are either donated or never got sold due to the title of the bookstore. They have all sorts of categories and themes of every book. The place is quite compact but at the same time, you probably can find any book you like. If you happen to want to get a book here while walking around downtown, then you can stop by here. read more

Love the selection! I typically only go to the other location in the Alameda but today I was in the area so I decided to come here. They have fair prices and a lot of variety. I got a bunch of old-school Nancy Drew and Hardy boys books which I have been looking for and cannot find anywhere. I literally paid $35 for probably like 8 to 9 books. The staff was really nice and everything was super clean and organized. They seemed to have a lot more business than the other location. I'm very happy and these will be going into my collection. I am determined one day to get all of those books!! read more

I take back what I said!! This store is a headache and a half. The buy backs on this store have gotten continually AWFUL throughout the years. I recently went with three large boxes of books, and got $4 cash back for everything. There was probably 50 - 70 books total. I remember going here as a kid, the charm, the cat, and now they don't even have a cat, and their service has gotten awful. Same goes for their Almaden location, too. TLDR: Not worth your time at all. Selection has gotten worse over time, too. read more

Love it! I enjoy a local book store. You walk in and smell used books. My perfect scent. They have the top best sellers and used books in great condition in all genres. I also enjoy their children and pre-teen section. Great way to save money as a parent to get used books of the "Babysitter Club" series or other popular books that cost lots of money at ac chain bookstore. Staff is friendly and they have a cute indoor store cat. Come support your local bookstore and donate books! read more

The girl at the register was super friendly and greeted us right as we walked in. She pointed us in the direction of the buyback counter. The lady doing the buyback, also super friendly. The selection was fantastic, both new and used titles on every wall. Everything was clearly marked. I used up my $75 in trade easily (and a little more). Could've spent hours just pursuing the walls of books. Will definitely be back! read more

I've been coming here since I was a wee lad. Very nice! Books!! I like the staff picks....

I will make every reason and excuse to make a trip to an independent local bookstore! And I can never not buy something out of it because of course support local bookstores. This one is in such a cute location in Campbell. You can make it a chill day out of it by going to the bookstore and walking around in downtown Campbell. Such a great selection of books (new and used) to choose from and a lot of the used books I saw were in great condition. So I gotta say some popular books are a real steal compared to if you were to buy from barnes and noble! Also, Max the cat is precious! read more

I absolutely love walking through the bookstore and just taking note of what books I'd like to add to my reading list. The prices are great and even new books are typically cheaper than MSRP. The tote bags they carry are also absolutely fantastic. They're always open during the Campbell Farmer's Market and have their sale books out in boxes by the entrance while the Farmer's Market is going on! read more

I've gone here the last few years and have bought books new and used. I've traded a few books as well. The selection is great and the used books quality is decent. Customer service has always been great. I appreciate this local neighborhood bookstore! read more

I LOVE THIS BOOKSTORE! Why would i order a book online when i could visit the recycle bookstore. There is an amazingly large selection of books here, including a wide variety of children's books, non fiction, and manga. There is also an LGBT section which I adore. The staff here is very friendly, whenever I bring books to sell back I get amazing service and it's so fast. Being able participate in their buy back program allows me to pick between cold hard cash or a larger amount that I can spend at the store. Who's going to say no to more books? +++ AMBIANCE +++ The aisles are tight! And it is a little dark in there in the shelves that are farthest in. Also some books are on REALLY REALLY HIGH shelves. But super cute! +++ SELECTION +++ They have a nice selection of recently released books both in new condition and old condition. They also have the classics like Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series. There is a WHOLE wall dedicated to Young Adult Lit and another wall just for Fiction! One aisle for Scifi, one for Fantasy, and one for Horror. Pretty good! The other categories like religion, philosophy etc are more sparse. FYI: All the books I was interested in were around $8 and up in used condition. +++ BOOK BUYBACK SERVICE +++ The best part is...THEY WILL BUY YOUR USED BOOKS! AMAZING! The buyer is only available Tuesday-Saturday from 11 am - 5 pm. You hand the buyer your books and they will write your name down. The buyer will tell you that you can browse around the store as they assess your books. They call your name when they're done and tell you what they selected and how much they will offer you. They are selective about which books they buy, but they will buy your books and give you store credit or even CASH. AMAZING. Of course you'll get more in store credit, but still AMAZING! And that's it! SO EASY. They might not buy all your books, but still great! +++ OVERALL +++ Definitely will be back! And I will be bringing all my book loving friends here!!! read more

The bookstore is easy to find, has a wide selection of books, and the store environment is just the right size - perfect for introverts like me. The books are neatly arranged, and the staff and owner are very friendly. I love sitting quietly in the bookstore reading, enjoying the warm sunlight by the window. There are also little cats that you can occasionally pet, which is very therapeutic. When I'm feeling down, I can come here alone and enjoy some inner peace! read more

Recycle Bookstore - Max? - Bookstores Near Me - Campbell, California

I came in today, Christmas Eve, in the afternoon. The selection of books was great and very relevant from ages kid to adult. The range was great too - fantasy to serious and popular psychology books. However, I had a very negative experience with the service. When I walked in, all of the staff (a few girls and a guy) were standing there and looking at me, but none of them said anything to me. Then, when I walking around, they watched me and said negative things about me. They said I walked in really fast, that I look like I play Dungeons and Dragons and they said "gross", and continued to say mean things very loudly even as I went to other parts of the store. They said they didn't feel secure. I noticed they were very nice and welcomed other customers. It was a very bizarre atmosphere. read more

It was my first time visiting since the pandemic and it's nice to see that the store is still up and going! As a casual reader, it's always easy for me to find a new book that I like here. They have a large selection of books (shelves are filled top to bottom!) and the employees are nice to talk to and very helpful. Since all the books are recycled, many of them are discounted too! They also buy back used books that are in high demand. Yesterday I walked away with a copy of Fahrenheit 451 and I'm very excited to read it. I definitely recommend stopping by here! read more

Love this place in downtown Campbell! We always stop in after eating dinner to peruse the shelves and I almost always find something to buy. It is well organized and they have a great selection, truly something for everyone! Stop in and support this local business! read more

This bookstore is a gem that showcases a diverse and eclectic collection of reading material. From cookbooks to children's books to timely political pieces, there is something for everyone! Even though I mostly read on my kindle, I still find treasures at this place and keep coming back. I've sold and bought books here; as a seller, I really appreciate how quickly the staff sorts through a bag of books. Moreover, I really appreciate how the staff is transparent. Specifically, the staff will give you back books that they won't take. I had gone to another bookstore that would take everything, but say that they could only add some of the books to their inventory (the rest were "donated"). This store has relaxed and inclusive vibes. The cats are a delight to see, but so is the "blind date with a book" section. I also really admired how there were several children's anti-racist books on display. Also, the staff is good about enforcing limited capacity in the store. They could add a bottle of hand sanitizer at the front, though. I will certainly be coming back for used and new books. Thanks, Recycle! read more

We really just came here for the cat to be honest with you. He was locked up. :( My Preteen browsed for a little while, and found some books she liked. They have new, and used books. New book prices are actually cheaper than Target . My preteen settled for the book To All The Boys I Loved Before, since she really loved the movie. We will definitely have to come by and buy some more books. read more

I have been to this bookstore before and loved it, but my experience with the staff this time was very unpleasant. Whoever was working at 12pm on 2/6 was rude as soon as we walked in. They did not greet us, just told us to go to the other side of the counter to sell books. Then as we were waiting in line, they were nice to other customers, telling them to have a wonderful day and once we made our purchase, they just said, "you're good". She was very short with us and we felt singled out for no reason. We left confused on what we did to make them act this way and wouldn't come back. read more

Great selection of books for people of all ages and interests! They have price labels on each book to show cost + whether it's new or used. Great place to sell and buy used books. Plenty of options to choose from. We got great price for our used books.

I came for the farmer's market but decided to check this place out because I am an addict for books. How I wish I could gatekeep this place. New and used, this bookstore has it all. It seems like they have books of all demographics, ranging from manga to educational, children's to adult's, and for an extremely reasonable price. I bought 3 language books and a never used Junji Ito's Tomie manga for about $44 total, and I definitely considered spending more. 100% Worth a checkout. read more

This place feels like it came straight out of a book!!! I'm 16, and I know how distressing it is to spend $20 at Barnes and Noble for just one book. For all my book loving baddies, PLEASE GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY. ITS LITERALLY PARADISE. There are so many diverse categories here for all ages, interests, religions, and etc. LITERALY SECTIONS DEDICATED TO HISTORY, MUSIC, POETRY, CLASSICS, AND ETC. FOR CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP PRICES IN GOOD CONDITIONS. Most likely you'll find smth on your reading list there. MY GIRLY POPS DONT WALK, RUN--AND THEY HAVE A PRECIOUS CAT!!! Shelves are so high and completely packed, and it just feels like a place you'd gatekeep, have a coming of age story, or like something you'd see on pinterest yk? I bought The Inheritance, Age of Innocence, The Idiot, Murder on the orient express, Never let me go, and 100 years of solitude for around $15. Classics are already cheap anyway, but it's so hard to find ones that aren't penguin bound or any other slightly expensive brand. (actually, I'm just broke. So if you're broke and you love reading, try this place out) (And for you silly little booktok lovers like my friend, you'll find multiple walls just for u) read more
