After lunch, I wanted to check the bookstore next door to the restaurant. This is a really nice bookstore with a ton of great books. Each area is divided by subject matter. I really love fiction, so I hung out in that area for a bit to see what they had. I really like the layout of this store and how they display the books. They even had a section called "blind date with a book." They were gift wrapped with a tiny quote from the book or description about the book. What a fun idea. There nothing like have a tangible book in your hands to read. I prefer reading books this way, over using a device. I guess I'm just old school. Prices are what's labeled on the book. They offer some books on sale or clearance at a great value. I have purchased many books here for birthdays, Christmas and for myself. There was a book club going on which made the place even more inviting. What I loved most about the store were all the notecards of recommendations. My local independent bookstore with a wide selection of sale books, from classics to comics and plenty of cookbooks and stationery, so you can almost always get something at a great price. Staff can be hit or miss, depending who you interact with, but Harriett is knowledgeable and great to chat with for book recommendations. I just wish they had non classic/recent fiction titles in their sale section, like they used to. Parking can be rough during peak Pruneyard hours. They have a great rewards program and donate to reading bridge which provides students in the Bay Area with diverse reading, so check them out! read more

I browse the book store for hours and always find a new read. I love bringing my family here too. They have a large children's section in the back with a variety of choices. I stopped in today looking for a couple of books to add to my current reading list. I am actively weaning myself off the online stores-who-shall-not-be-named, so I was interested in checking out the Pruneyard location of this Bay Area independent chain. I found one of the books in stock but had to order the other because it was sold out throughout the western US. I found the inventory at this location small but thoughtfully diverse. My daughter is a teacher and found the children's section well-stocked. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I will return to this location and highly recommend them as an alternative to the online megastores. read more

Their diverse genres and a spacious children's book area, complemented by toys, make it a fantastic spot in a vibrant neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and shops. Service is always consistent, fast, and helpful. I frequently bring my nieces and nephews to indulge in their love for reading and enjoy lunch, macaroons, and ice cream nearby. I found an autographed Book by a Filipino author here! -- the book was called Wildflower and it was pretty good! and just like any other book store they have a section of miscellaneous cute things which is always entertaining to look at. I love browsing here and looking at selections. More frequently, I would get titles and put them on my "to read list" as I am super busy with 2 little ones. Speaking of my little ones, the older one just started reading and we would get some books here for her. I also love the nook in the children's section where we read some books together. Associates are welcoming and nice. I love the cozy ambiance here as well. Besides books, there other things in store like knick-knacks, gift ideas (besides books!), puzzles. I just want to give a big thank you to the staff of this bookstore. I walked in with some friends and i was looking for this book that I couldn't find anywhere else. I asked the cashier if she had the book in stock, and she looked it up to find that there was only one copy left. So she told me the places where that book should be, and when I couldn't find it, another staff member came and actually searched the backroom, the displays, the fantasy section, just about half the bookstore, determined to find it. That alone was amazing. No other bookstore has ever done that for me. Especially not Barnes n Noble. About 10 minutes later, she found it! And it was an amazing book. I purchased it immediately. A lovely little book store in a great location, right in the middle of Campbell's Prunyard Shopping Center. Since they're so small, they can't carry a lot but they always have new bestsellers in stock and multiple copies of almost every book. A great place to go and browse for books to put on your to-read list. Employees let you browse without bothering you, which is a feat considering it's such a small shop. The little tags that recommend books are great! Beware, it can get a quite crowded on the weekend. read more

Their variety is pretty comprehensive and the space is well organized for book lovers to find what they're looking for. There is a large kids' section and you'll find some cozy spots to bond with a new book. I overheard great rapport and customer service with regulars. I love reading. I love going to bookstores. I am also guilty of buying and having it shipped from Amazon because I'm lazy. That being said I knew buying a gift would be more meaningful if I went instead. I was going to meet w/ a director (not my direct director) and I wanted to buy her this book because she pushed me in profound ways indirectly. I had her full support when I was at DHL. Now that I'm here I have so much support that I can't even imagine. Plus she reads! W/ that said I wanted to continue raising the bar; learning, reading, and volunteering for things. I have a growth mindset and I could say that I'm very happy financially, I'm very comfortable but it's not enough. I wanted to meet w/ her to get some feedback on learning and growing, not just laterally (financially) but everything as a whole. I want progression. She was very touched by this gift. She then advised me to read "Good to Great" and I did. I finished it w/in 3 weeks. We're meeting soon so we can discuss the book and what I find relevant in the work that we do. I can't wait. Thank you to the gentleman that held this book for me and for putting a ribbon on it. I called during the day and wanted to make sure they have this book. Singing and interactive fun for the little ones with free goodies after every book readings like coloring pages, and small freebies. My daughter loves hanging out every week for story time and going inside and checking out books after story time. My 10 year old daughter LOVES this store, but sadly, I don't think I'll be going in here anymore. Their social/political agenda is so intense and aggressive it's hard to enjoy looking for a book. I used to love bookstores, but anymore I feel like I'm inside some propaganda machine. What ever happened to quality literature for children? Every single book in their kids section has some sort of agenda- even if I agreed with some of it, it's SO heavy handed and intense. Let children be children. So tired of all of this. read more

We've been to Books Inc. numerous times since they've opened. Reasons that I love it. 1) Great place to buy a gift. There are toys as well as other items (aside from books), like journals. They even wrapped my friend's book since it was a present for her mother. 2) Location. It's right in the heart of Pruneyard, so you can grab a latte at Peet's Coffee or a Boba tea. 3) Book bargains. They have a ton of unique book bargain books, like art books that are hard to find elsewhere. It's super fun to peruse this area as they change it up often. 4) Inviting space. It is super pleasant to browse, and it is always clean. The kids' area, although small, is super cute as well. 5) Supporting small independent book stores, I know, duh! but I had to throw this out there. Also, I was not happy with the service , which I felt was a bit surprised when I asked for help picking something. This is the closest indie bookstore to where I live so I've shopped here many times. The book selection is good. The customer service is helpful without being pushy. The location in the Pruneyard is wonderful. Previously, this location was in Santa Clara Marketplace near the Whole Foods. That whole area is a mess so I'm glad they moved here. The bookstore is open, cheery and well organized. My only complaint is that there are a lot of "discount" books where I think other books could go. It's not a big deal, but I would like a bigger selection beyond the bestseller lists. It's not bad at all, but I'm just being selfish. read more

Very neat and friendly bookstore! The staff here was so nice to me during my visit here and helped me find the book I was currently on the search for. Also wanted to mention that their clearance section has very intriguing titles as well! On top of this, the stationary they sell here is also really fascinating. Almost all items are price-matched with bigger retail bookstores and the prices here were much more affordable than others.
