View from Michael Gill patio. Peaceful vine-studded landscape like all of the Paso area.

By far some of the best Tempranillo in the area: Bold, ripe, fruity, and jammy. Mmmmm. We also tried an Alicante Bouchet--rich, soft, and ready to drink! On the white side, their Vermentino was absolutely true to style. This place boasts 'big' syrahs that take over your mouth. Certainly well made, but not my style. Syrahs are like Double India Pale Ales in the beer word. Very popular, but just too much for my sensitive little taste buds. I was impressed by the unique selection, especially since everything is estate grown. Bottle prices are a bit high, but consistent with other boutique wineries in the area. Mr. Gill, the owner, is a retired dentist with a vibrant pastime of safari travels. He told us about the "stuffed" critters displayed in the tasting room. Gill's taxidermy exhibit is as intricate and boldly stated as his wines. We traveled here on our motorcycles. There's plenty of shady parking only steps from the tasting room. But drive slow on Peachy Canyon Road. It's narrow, windy, and traveled by wine-buzzed tourists looking for winery entrances. We shared a bottle of Tempranillo and picnicked on the patio. What a peaceful afternoon! Don't miss out on this place. Great Tempranillo is hard to find.

Fun and chill atmosphere with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Wines are great, big reds here. Pups were the icing on the cake!

I had a great time tasting here this last Sunday. We met Michael Gill and his wife and got a nice tour of their property and cellar room. The wines were great. My favorite is the Syrah. They also have a vacation rental on the hill overlooking the winery. Their two dogs were very nice. Michael has a number of trophy animals at the tasting room, including a magnificent polar bear. Our kids were welcomed and played around the property.

Wine tasting with Shelly was a blast! The wines are delicious and it's worth finding this hidden gem. The animal crackers were a welcome surprise and a bit ironic given the decor. Overall I would highly recommend you stop by & say hi to Shelly & Bella!

If you don't like taxidermy don't go there. I did not like the animals. I did like the (live) dog Bella.

The wine tasting was great, Eric was our server and he was wonderful, with personality and talkative conversation also explaining the wines that we were tasting, even though he was busy! We wanted to have lunch but wanted to split things, so we didn't overeat! We opted for a salad which was called the winter salad and I'm not much of a salad person, but the salad was terrific, it had seasonal winter fruits with arugula, a light vinaigrette, and a few pomegranate seeds really light and just perfect. We had the burger, which... Was divine. Brioche bun, caramelized, onions, red wine bacon jam and an aïoli. That burger came with fries, which we also split, but both agreed they were the best french fries we've ever had. I do not know how they got them so crisp they were delicious. The views are great. Rolling Hills of Paso Robles demand your attention. They have an immense outdoor area, although we sat inside because it was a little chilly. Purchased tres Violet and a Chardonnay - both tasted and were lovely!

We booked the "wine tasting and lunch", which was a 90 minute experience on their patio ($40). When we arrived, we were greeted with the first wine on the tasting list, which was the Grenache (pretty good, different than what I normally go for). The patio had a nice view of the rolling hills and we could see goats running across them in the distance. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, and we also got a bonus pour. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the wine selection, especially the "Messer" red. We also ordered lunch, and both my Harvest Salad and Parmesan Fries were very tasty. The grounds were nice, but not quite as breathtaking as some of the other vineyards I've seen in the area. Overall though, a good experience!

As members of this winery, we receive two complimentary tastings per month, so we only paid for the two salads and the tastings were included. The salad was simply delicious, with a great portion size -- definitely a 10/10. The service was excellent. Our server carefully explained each of the five wines we tasted while we enjoyed the peaceful and beautiful mountain views. It's the kind of place where you could easily sit for hours enjoying the landscape and a glass of wine. The wines are consistently excellent. The tasting lineup always showcases the quality DAOU is known for, and one of the great perks is that they often have several library wines available that can be requested and served by the glass. Being able to enjoy some of their older vintages this way makes the experience even more special for wine enthusiasts. What I appreciate most about DAOU is how they've managed to maintain a small, family-style atmosphere despite being acquired by a larger company a few years ago. The hospitality still feels personal and genuine. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the wines themselves but also about the history of the vineyard and the vision behind it. I'm a big fan of this winery and how it has evolved over the years. Between the stunning views, exceptional wines, and welcoming staff, DAOU is always a must-stop whenever visiting Paso Robles.

From the moment we drove in, the experience felt elevated--being greeted with a glass of rosé right at arrival set the tone perfectly. The property itself is stunning, with architecture that feels like a modern twist on a Frank Lloyd Wright design--clean lines, expansive glass walls, and uninterrupted views of the rolling vineyard-covered hills. After walking up the long staircase (worth every step), we were met with breathtaking views that made it hard to focus on anything else--until the tasting began. Peggy, our server, was incredible. Her knowledge and storytelling brought the entire experience to life. She shared detailed insights about the wines and the owners, from their background in geology to how they carefully selected this unique property. It made every sip feel intentional and meaningful. And the wine--wow. Easily some of the best we've had in a long time. Every pour was exceptional, but we loved it so much we had to take a couple bottles home--especially the Chardonnay and the Sagacious red blend. Already looking forward to enjoying them again with good friends and great food. This wasn't just a tasting--it was an experience. Highly recommend if you're in Paso Robles.

The top wines are over $105 so to not be able to taste them before buying is very pretentious.

We enjoyed their wines wholeheartedly, and I couldn't leave without a bottle of their 2022 Paradoxical (not listed on the pic). Chris had pour us a glass and it had me at hello...LOL! We saw lizards, bees, yellowjackets, humming birds. The trouble we had is their tables were next to beautiful flowers so we spent our tasting battling yellowjackets coming after our food and wine. We had someone who was allergic so it was a very stressful for us but we understand that comes with being in beautiful paso back hills. Chris took wonderful care of us giving us some great information about the wines and guiding on ways to compare the wines. When it comes to wines, we all felt that the winemakers style didnt align with our groups palate. We didn't see what he was trying to show us. Chris mentioned that the wines are better aged but when we aren't seeing the vision out the gates its hard to justify investing in something to lay down for a bit. With all this said I still would encourage everyone reading this to give this boutique winery a chance as its always good to support small business wineries. Perhaps other peoples palate will align better with the wine makers style.

When we arrived, give or take a couple of parties already seated for the first seating. The gentleman that checked us was the sweetest. You get the welcome tea drink which the cup is used for water throughout your tasting. Very friendly and sweet. A little joke throughout the whole experience with the food pairing and meal. I was joking that he was hyping up the meal that it better be worth it. Let me just say, he was 100 percent right. The best meal out of all the times I've been..... It didn't take long till our table was ready. Also it was a first time that we were seating outside in the courtyard. Normally it's inside the room once you enter the courtyard. It was a nice Saturday and the weather was great. A nice touch to the beginning of something sweet. There was also another table set up down in the garden area that was utilized as well. Gabby who took are of us that afternoon was the sweetest. The details and explanation of everything was to the tee. Also, this is the second time that I had to mentioned they forgot our little posey of flowers...lol... The small details that we love. Depending on the menu and tasting, the pairing is brought out with each glass. Wine are set up first and pairing followed. This visit, we started off with three pairing. Bacon and leeks strata, amazing by the way. Then the antipasto salad followed by a 4 spice seared duck breast. Wow, just with those three pairing with the wine was excellent. Each wine delicately chosen to match the meal, details on details. Afterwards, the last two paring were brought out. The oven roasted portobello mushrooms and ramen were the last of the pairing accompanied by the wine pair. Just those small tasting alone was excellent. To finish off with the tasting which with members we alway go for the lunch pairing afterwards. A meal with a glass to accommodate the dish. This by far was the best I've had. A 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon paired with black angus filet mignon. Poomes paille, bordelaise, wedge salad of half romaine lettuce with Parmesan, bacon, mini san marzano tomatoes, asparagus, Tokyo turnip, chives and Caesar dressing. Wow, it was fantastic. The streak was cooked perfectly with a nice pink center. Salad was crunchy and paired well with all the trimming and then you have the wine pair, chefs kiss. The chef knows their food. Everything was excellent as alway and this was another wonderful experience. A first time tasting in the courtyard was great. Gabby was amazing and the sweetest. And the gentlemen checking us in. He was dead right on the meal, it was amazing. My favorite so far. Service was amazing and the wine, of course that's great. Until next time.

Le Cuvier is up at the top of the hill with sweeping views of the whole valley. It's a narrow, winding path to get to the top so drive carefully! Once you arrive, its a colorful, quirky, nature-filled, calm retreat. We got to meet both friendly winery cats, Otis and ( swear I thought I'd remember the other one's name!) Cat presence always gets extra points from me. We were seated on the large shaded outdoor patio, and we were the only customers there. It was late in the day and I guess the midday rush had all just vacated at once. Our server was really great at describing the winemaking process, flavor profiles and history of the winery, but the patio was completely silent. We took out a phone to play our own music and she commented that her mother did the same thing when she visits. Dining experiences need music! If they're aware of this, I hope they consider adding some soft music for a more comfortable ambiance. Wines - All of the wines here are natural, which not many wineries can claim in this area, and I tasted some very unique blends like nothing I've tasted before. My favorite was the Syrah, but the rest of the wines weren't really my style. Food - The menu is changed regularly and it's obvious that the chef enjoys putting it together! We didn't get to try the ramen that my friend raved about because of the new menu, but we loved the mini "street taco" tostada and the spam maki. I did think some dishes would have been better served hot, like the orange-glazed chicken thigh. This was such a cool, unique experience and it sounds like you'll never have the same experience twice! Would recommend to anyone.
