My girlfriend knew one of the owners of this Winery and recommended it. We were celebrating my husband's birthday along with his four sons and their wives. So I made reservations for 10. It's a cute winery but non-descriptive. We sat outside and it was pretty windy so we had our jackets on And there was a cover overhead. Kathy was our server and she is one of the daughters of the owner. She had another large group and a couple of smaller ones and she was all by herself. She did an excellent job explaining the wines and not rushing us. I was impressed with the wines so I joined the wine club. Their wines are reasonably priced and tasting fee is $30 per person but if you buy a bottle of wine it's waved. I also bought one of the small stemless wine glasses and a daughter-in-law bought one with a stem. I'm looking forward to more of their wines. read more

We have come here already around 3 times. It was introduced to us by a coworker, and we are glad she did. When you come here you are treated like family. You feel like you have escaped your world and entered a whole different one , it's a wonderful and relaxing place. You're surrounded by trees and yes, grape vines . Today we came and were greeted by Jessica ( she calls herself the adoptive daughter) . This is a great family run winery. Mr. Gino came and sat with us for a while and had us very entertained with all his wonderful stories . He is always so kind and welcoming. My husband and I enjoyed all of the wines we tasted. We decided to bring home the 2022 Zinfandel, 2019 Malfada and the 2018 Tre Sorelle. In all honesty you can't go wrong with any of their wines. If you want to escape to Italy without having to fly all the way to Italy I recommend you come here and taste all of their great wine and get some great stories from Mr. Gino. Best winery on the central coast. I've been wine tasting in the Paso Robles area for 25 years and somehow this one escaped my notice. Recently it's appeared on some of my online searches and in a yelp review by someone whose taste in wine I trust. So when my wife and I took a short trip to the area recently I made an appointment to stop in for a tasting. Note: since Covid many wineries only take appointments for tastings but some will still accept drop-ins if they can accommodate which is Fratelli Perata's policy. This is a very small family winery with limited production. You're not going to find their wines at a grocery store. We arrived on a weekday afternoon in the early afternoon after rambling down a long dirt road off the main highway. Surrounded by vineyards, we walked to the tasting room and were warmly greeted and invited to sit outdoors at one of the tables; we chose one shaded by the branches of a huge tree. This is not one of those castle-like, flamboyant tasting rooms but a small, comfortable, homey place. There were five red wines to be sampled that day. We sat and chatted with this informative "pourer", who we learned is one of the winemaker's daughters, as we tasted each one. All were superb and reminded us of flavors we loved while in Tuscany. If you enjoy Italian wines this is a stop you must make. After a relaxing hour we walked away with three bottles, each a different type. We put them in a cooler in our car (a necessity when wine tasting if you intend to buy) and, feeling mellow and happy, left with a promise to ourselves that we would definitely return again to what is now our favorite CA winery. read more

I have not visited this winery in person, all my experiences are from mail order. In 2020 during lockdown I was talking to my uncle on the phone. The topic went to wine and he mentioned this is his favorite winery. He was in Cincinnati, Ohio for a few months to be with his grandkids during lockdown and he missed his winery so much he had them ship a case to him in Ohio. Since my uncle always gives me good advice I went ahead and ordered from Fratelli Perata. Even though they don't have free shipping they gave me a discount the two times I've ordered which ended up deducting more than the shipping cost. Not sure why I got the discount, guessing it was the amount of bottles I bought. If you love Italian wines and you love Paso Robles this is the winery for you. The owners are from Italy and the wines they make are all Italian style wines. Bold, fruity, and unfiltered. Most of the wines they carry I never heard of so I just took a chance and gave them a shot. I like how they sale their older vintages too if you don't want to wait and drink it now. So far my absolute favorite has been the 2016 Charbono. Next in line was their 2015 Bambino Grande, 2011 Barbera, and 2011 Tre Sorelle. Can't wait to try the rest of the stash I purchased! read more

We love Fratelli Perata Wines! We have been club member for over 20 years. We usually visit the winery for a tasting twice a year. The tasting room is small, and there are no tables so if you want to sit, there is a covered area with tables and chairs outside. It often gets windy at this location, so prepare for some weather. If I had to choose a favorite wine, it would be Sangiovese. Although Bambino Grande runs a close second. The ambiance here is rustic and authentic - this is not a huge winery with all the fancy stuff, but the wine is amazing and so is the pricing! You MUST make a reservation here, as there is always only one person pouring in the tasting room. Usually it's Kathy, one of the owners' daughters, and she knows all about the wines and will take really good care of you. You can even bring a picnic lunch and enjoy your tasting or buy a bottle to go with your lunch. I highly recommend you visit this winery if you are going to be in Paso Robles, just make sure you have room in your trunk because you will want to bring home of few cases of this amazing wine. read more

Like going to your Italian grandfather's winery in Italy. A small gem of a place, up a short well maintained dirt road to one of the first wineries in the Paso Robles area. The tasting room is nothing fancy but filled with history, family photos and artwork and some of the friendliest staff you'll ever meet. The owner many times comes down to chat and tell the history of his winery but the best part of visiting are discovering some absolutely fabulous Italian wines. Geno & Carole Perata purchased this acreage in the mid 80's, started planting grape varietals from their family homeland in Italy, staying true to the time honored wine making methods used by their ancestors. Fratelli Perata Winery was our first stop of the day on our wine excursion of Paso Robles, and needless to say it set the bar extremely high. The drive into Fratelli is absolutely gorgeous. After parking you walk amongst the beautiful vineyard until making your way into the quaint tasting room. You could instantly tell that this was a multigenerational Italian family as you were treated like an extension of their family. In fact, we started talking a lot about where our respective families were from and she broke out the Michelin map book of Italy, and low and behold our families were in neighboring villages in the Abruzzo region. Now the wines absolutely speak for themselves. The Charbono was to start which could be paired well with pesto. Next was their incredible Sangiovese which could have gone great with any spaghetti sauces. My favorite was definitely the Bel Bruzzo, full bodied and complex but with hints of fruit and not dry. We definitely purchased a number of wines to bring back to share with family/friends. We can't wait to come back to Fratelli!!! read more

Fratelli Perata is one of those places you will insist on re-visiting, again and again. It is not because of a fancy pants tasting room. It is not because they have a really cool gift shop. It is not because the gardens are well manicured and inviting for a leisurely stroll while sipping. None of that exists. This is a simple place, a dirt road leading to the family home with a small building out back, a cut above scruffy, a 1965 green VW bug sitting in the garden, a patch of healthy artichoke plants in one corner. It is as warm and inviting as the delightful family members who claim FP as their own. The family is proud of its history. The small interior displays a huge mural on the wall of Genoa, Italy, the family home where Grandpa Peralta learned his craft. The specially cut labels on the bottles capture the essence of this mural. The wines are delicious, full, and ready to drink right now. And that is why we chose some excellent reds to bring home, the 2014 Zin and the 2013 Bel Bruzzo. This....is a find! read more

Our friends met us there. Tom and I had such a blast with the family history. The two sisters were so informational and sweet. We got to meet the mom too! Mom was a hoot. The flavor of the wine was so good. I was amazed how much we loved the taste. Tracy OCD couldn't get past the cobweb in the window and the clutter on the counters.... This was rustic and authentic like Paso was before the billionaires came in..My impression was we found a diamond in the rough and their focus was their wine... Updated to add: We visited the winery Friday at lunch and bought about 10 bottles. Then we spent Friday night at the Paso Robles Reserve wine tasting even, and Saturday afternoon at the Grand Tasting event last weekend. My expectation was that we'd find one or two (or hopefully more?) wineries with offerings that were as good as Fratelli, and add them to our list. It didn't happen. We tasted wines from 24 vineyards (the Wine Festival is a very efficient way to sample a lot of wines) but there were none that produced wines as good as Fratelli. We bought a few bottles from new vineyards and a few from vineyards we already knew, but then returned to Fratelli the morning of our departure from Paso Robles to fill up the rest of our car space. We like bold reds. In our opinion, Fratelli is a rare find in Paso Robles, the land known for great reds. We are club members and will stay members, and we will be back on our next trip to buy more wine. read more

Had to drop my membership. Good wine does not give permission for the employees/owners to behave so rude. My husband and I, along with friends who are also members drove 5 hours to pick up our wine and do a tasting. Our presence was clearly a bother and an inconvenience. This was true 2 months ago but because we all did enjoyed the wine we decided to return and give them another try. Insulted is too light of a word on how we were made to feel. Our group walked away in complete dismay. With loud annoyed sounds we were told they had a long day and we're going to close soon, we were there at 3:30pm and many other guests were on the property and others were lined behind us. Hire people to welcome/check in guests, pour your wine if you don't have it in you to care for your customers. read more

Wandering our way through the various wineries we came on in. This winery ticked many of the happy boxes with their wine offerings. Why didn't we find them sooner?! Carol, Joanne and Cathy have been fantastic! We like so many and they've been very helpful enlightening us to our ultimate choices. The club shipments are fantastic and we look forward to each season of tasty offerings. This is a simple tasting room yet there is so much charm with this conservative approach. These wines just sing and that is what we enjoy with a wine tasting experience. We always have a great time catching up and talking wine and foods with Joanne and Cathy. I found this place on yelp and decided to try it. The place is a hidden gem and staff make you feel right at home. The tasting room looks just like a little house and you totally as though you are in someone's home. The red wines paired well with the crackers and the sever was very knowlegeable about all the wines. You can tell each and every wine was carefully and thoughtfully made. After having been here a few times and having been to plenty of other wineries in both Paso and Napa, it's easy for me to see just how great Fratelli Perata is. Any time I know Jim G. and I are going to visit our good friend in Atascadero, this is a must stop. Carol, one of the owners and winemakers, was as pleasant as ever, telling us about the wines and some interesting life stories as well. It is rare for me to go through a tasting selection and to genuinely like every single thing poured. And not the, "yeah, this is good," sort of response that one makes in front of the person pouring, so as to not insult the wines. But the genuine, "I really like this wine. I am imagining what I'd pour this with at home; I must buy some" type of response. To me, nothing comes close to their Sangiovese, but I adore that varietal and I don't think anyone does it better; if someone else does, I haven't tasted it yet, and, let's be honest, I drink a lot of wine =) We had to join the wine club! We've never joined a club before, always wanting to branch out and taste new things, or not be sent wines that aren't awesome, or end up paying more than what wines are worth (with shipping and such). None of these concerns are an issue with their club. 6 wines, twice a year, all reds! Very reasonably priced, and, since our friend is also in their club and picks her wine up, she can always pick ours up for us and then we can spend another weekend in the area! Enjoy all of the wines, but the Barbera, Charbono, and Sangiovese are always my favorites. FP continues to be a favorite, always recommend to friends who are never disappointed. Love the Italian varietals- a nice break from the traditional Paso wines. All were very smooth- unlike mid-range chiantis, these would be comparable to higher end Italian blends. The owner was super friendly and when I noticed an old Paso Wine festival poster hanging on the wall, she mentioned that they were the 12th winery to be established within the city-- who knew! That clued me in that they are well established, know how to create good quality wine, and they are not in the business of being a big marketing company like other well-known names in the area. A charming, little, family winery. You can really get to know the folks here and because they're a bit off the beaten track, you'll get a nice bit of intimacy rather than the fake smile, please buy a ton of our wine attitude you get frequently in wine tasting. This family came from Italy and settled to run a small winery in Central California a few decades ago. They produce small quantities of excellent wine. You'll need to plan ahead well as they don't have longer open hours like other wineries, sometimes requiring and appointment. So call. They make a pretty solid cab, zin and other varietals will not disappoint especially if you appreciate a bit of Italian wine adventure. They also served some lovely cheese a few years ago that was part of the reason we went there, a smoked gouda. I thought to ask where they got it so my mom could get it somewhere else as that was part of the reason my mom loved visiting them. This is my favorite winery in Paso. Today was our first visit and definitely not our last. I love reds. This winery offers such variety. I have never experienced such a wide range of excellent wines at one winery. We came because of the Charbono. And we were not disappointed! A wine that is very unique in flavor and not offered at many wineries but at the end it was hard to choose which wine was our favorite. The variety that is offered at this winery is easy to pair with any dish. The family owned and run winery makes it such a pleasant and relaxing experience. They are so knowledgeable and friendly.
