We stopped by here after dropping off our son for a week of BSA Summer Camp. Reasonable. Clean. Everything is clean, including the bathrooms, although kind of dimly lit. VERY GOOD SERVICE! Everyone is on! Our server, the serving assistant, one of the bar staff (he was the person who originally checked if we'd like something to drink in addition to our waters, but continued to check on our waters also). Pretty good food. I wouldn't necessarily rave about it, but if I knew someone was going to be in the area, I would most likely suggest it as an option. Not impressed. We usually go to a place down the street but wanted to try something new. I ordered street tacos WITHOUT onion but they had a ton of onions. They were also very bland and needed something to give them some more flavor. I ordered the kids quesadilla on a separate plate from the rice and beans cause you know... kids. Things just can't touch. Well... they were all on the same plate. The server should have noticed this before it came to our table. The tortilla person wasn't there so the sign saying they have fresh homemade tortillas wasn't correct. We won't be trying them again. read more

It's delicious and the only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the prices are a bit too high to justify even with the quality. the service is not always great either. It is definitely cheese with steak...Cheesy dish that is best scooped into a tortilla and rolled with the steak. The poblano peppers in it add a nice flavor boost. I ordered Sopitas. So my son in law has been telling us about this place for awhile now, so we decided to pop in for dinner. The place is very clean inside and the upstairs setting is pretty cool. Let's start with the chips and salsa. Chips are light and not greasy like some places. The salsa is delicious with the perfect amount of spice. My wife gets the mild salsa and my older boys couldn't get enough of it. The complimentary pico was delicious. The beers on tap are very limited which was kinda disappointing. I was hoping for more than 3 beers. Tecati, Bud light, and don't remember the 3rd one. Like to see Negro Modelo on tap. For the food. As some of you know, I judge all Mexican places based off of how their Chile Verde is prepared. The flavor was amazing. The only down fall was the pork was a little tough and no flavor to the meat itself. I tried my wife's quesadilla and this was pretty darn good. My son had the monster burger. Wow! Great option for those that don't care for Mexican food. This burger had ham, bacon, cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato. This was truly a monster burger. How I would describe good Mexican food is rich and very flavorful. Unfortunately, at Mi Tierra I did not experience those particular taste sensations. Instead, they were flat and boring. I ordered the lunch menu Chili Verde with a glass of water and lime wedge. Tortilla chips and salsa came to the table. The chips were crunchy and fresh with a nice hint of salt, however... the salsa was watery and tasted strongly of chili powder. What? Chili powder? As a person who loves to cook Mexican food I can tell you with some certainty that chili powder is not a normal ingredient in salsa. I set it aside and left the chips as well. Seriously, chips without decent salsa are pretty pointless. On to the Chili Verde. It was okay, it wasn't terrible, I'd give it a C+, but there was nothing mouthwatering about it either. There was a little pile of wilted lettuce in the middle of the plate. Hmmm. It remained untouched. I ordered flour tortillas. I was served corn tortillas, however, they were homemade and delicious, so I didn't mind. The rice a beans were bland, uninspiring, and tasted like they were right out of the can and a grocery store rice box. My work takes me to different offices around the county and sometimes I find myself in Monroe. One place in Monroe that I won't find myself again, is at Mi Tierra. read more

We have been coming to Mi Tierra for almost 15 years and for good reason. The food is always great and the staff is always friendly. I've traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Belize so II know good food, and they have it! They were also great at enforcing COVID rules, so you can feel safer eating. This has actually been the first restaurant in Monroe that I've liked them done at. Mi Tierra looks like a fancy Aspen lodge and the bar is small, but very colonial Mexican. They have some knock-out mexican waitresses. So we were driving aimlessly around Monroe a few weeks ago and were hungry. It was a little later than lunch but happy hour at many places. I pulled out my phone, asked where I could go for a good happy hour sorted by reviews. This place came up at the top of the list. Went in, sat in the bar. There was another table seated and they were watching the 5th Element on the TV... Ok. After 10-15 minutes one of the guys sitting at the other table went behind the bar and brought us menus and waters... A little annoying since he saw us sitting there and this dropped it from 5 star review. Food was excellent, drinks were good and prices were insanely reasonable. Most drinks on the menu were under $7. And this wasn't happy hour prices. We had $4 margaritas and they were delicious. Absolutely terrible! Daughters juice was all ice gone in 3 drinks and no free refills. Took 15 mins to get drinks after we ordered them and they weren't even correct and no refills were ever even offered. My eggs in my huevos rancheros were way over cooked and hard, the sauce was all dry. My boyfriends tostada was half the size of a normal tortilla and his burrito was gone in 4 bites. Nice to have a good local Mexican restaurant in Monroe. We always order Queso Fundido as a starter. It's anything but lo-cal, but everyone has to spoil themselves from time to time. My husband really enjoys the Carne Asada, while I usually get either Camarones al mojo de ajo or Camarones Mexicanos.
