I dont post often because if you come close to providing my money's worth then I'm satisfied. Well they missed by a mile. Let me start by saying it took over 2 1/2 hours for dinner. We reserved a room for 20, 2 weeks prior to the meal. We confirmed the exact count 23 three days before the meal. We were served by only one server. It took 1hr and 15min to get the salads and 10min to get them to everyone. It took another hour to get the main course and the desert was another 15 min. By this time we had talked to the manager more than once. Talking to him was a compleate waste. If you enjoy wedding food you will love this place. Served warm at best they would not let us order off the menu and had most of the offerings covered in gravy to hide the food. Everything was great. The girl at the Residence Inn recommended. You never see a red Conundrum on the wine list ... this made me happy from the jump. My husbands martini was perfect. The ahi appetizer was superb. We had the sea bass and rib eye. The sea bass was perfect. The ribeye was a bit over cooked and a little tough ... no marble throughout, but it was still good. Metropolitan Grill is our FAVORITE spot to eat in Springfield, MO. We can usually be found her 2-4 nights a week. The wait staff and bartenders are absolutely phenomenal, and try to make everyone feel like regulars. The food is always on spot with a menu that changes with the seasons. Old favorites (flash fried spinach and oysters) are always on the menu, but new and innovative dishes are added as well. With 4 party rooms Metro is great for a special event. That being said it's great for date night, a nice family dinner, or business lunches. The bar is upbeat and usually busy with signiture drinks to accompany each new menu! read more

This is one of the best places in Springfield! We ordered several starters and they were amazing! Flash fried spinach, calamari, apples, Brie and crostini - all great and generous portions. Several in our group ordered steaks and they were very pleased and cooked the way they were ordered. I ordered a pasta dish with shrimp which was very good. I would definitely order it again. We were all too full for dessert but they brought fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to our table - Somehow we had just enough room to stuff ourselves a little further. My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day. The decor was very nice and appropriate for intimacy. The waitress was absolutely wonderful and very informed about the ingredients on the menu. We were not rushed in any way, yet the waitress was attentive. The roll before dinner was absolutely perfect in taste and texture as well as the dipping sauce. Then the unique main courses came in less than 15 min wait (excellent timing) and they were absolutely wonderful... I had the chicken Meyers Spedini nice portion size, amazing flavor, you could cut the chicken with a fork, and perfect texture. My wife and I both ordered the 1/2 size order, which was plenty for both of us. What was especially nice was that after the waitress gave my credit card back, she said: "Don't rush...". Another plus! And... I don't know if there is a cell-tower dead zone or whatever, ( I couldn't get a cell signal) but not a single cell phone went off the entire time we were there! What a delight!!!!! Metro is a great place to go for eating and/or drinking. The bartenders are mostly hot ladies, as well as many of the servers, so that never hurts. The drinks may be a little higher than some other places, but they are heavy pours. The food is great; the menu is always changing so it's hard to say what to order, but you can never go wrong with one of his steaks. The spinach is awesome too. I've always had good service, and never a bad meal. While I think it is true that Metro caters to its regulars, I don't see the problem with it. It has been a proven business model. The owner makes it a point to stop by the table and speak with anyone who has been there even just a few times. It makes people feel special and I think it is what makes Metro a special place. It helps that he is very personable and witty, and has an unbelievable ability to remember people's names and other details about their lives. If you are a first-timer and don't know what to order, the servers will always recommend something. One other bonus: if you have small children, they are very good about accommodating them. We had my 2 year old son with us on one of our first visits to the restaurant. There wasn't really anything on the menu that he liked (he's 14 and will eat it all now), so they made him a pepperoni pizza. That's one of the reasons we kept coming back. read more

I've been in Springfield for a short time and I absolutely LOVE this place! Dinner is always amazing - the dinner menu includes New Mexican inspired fare (green and red chile!! I'm from NM so I love this!) and I'm always pleased with the food!! The wine list is great, a little pricey, but not so much that you can't enjoy a good bottle of wine. Yes, the dinner is pricey, but definitely worth it! My boyfriend and I enjoy going here for lunch and dinner, especially on special occasions. The intimate setting is great but the atmosphere is still casual. The menu does change so check out their website. This is a good restaurant that has become the place to "be seen" in Sprinfield and has lost some of it's quality. The prices are getting higher, the portions smaller and the service ok. It's nice for a special occasion but not the great regular place it used to be. read more

I held my company Christmas party here on Dec 3 2011. We had a private room that was GREAT! The service was excellent and the food was even better. We had 25 people and everyone LOVED the food. (it's hard to find 25 people to agree on anything) but they did agree that this restaurant was delicious. We had dinner, party of four, and were seated quickly. The dining room was full and loud and service was friendly and quick. We found the menu a little confusing, the names of the dishes like inside jokes we didn't get. Food itself was good - but taken one step too far or trying too hard to be interesting. First, I travel to a lot of cities across the country and I love trying local joints. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose but there is something about feeling like your part of the community you are traveling to. With that said, I take a good amount of customers out to dinner in Springfield and I expect, great service, great beverages, fantastic food and a restaurant that is welling to work with me. You get so much more at Metropolitan Grill. (Metro for the locals) If you are traveling in the area and want a great local place to eat you have to go here. It's a little pricey but it's well worth it for what you get. You are greeted at the door by a friendly face, many times, the manager and even sometimes the owner. You can sit in the dining room or bar area and both are great choices. If you are taking some clients out and you want a quieter atmosphere, they can accommodate it. How about a round table to energize table talk? Just ask for it. Once you are seated, you will be greeted by a fantastic knowledgeable staff that is just waiting and wanting to help you, let them. The menu consists of a lot of local names for the dishes but they are well explained and if you have questions, ask the staff. They usually have a great special so make sure you ask for details. I can't say enough about the staff, Tiffany, Jay, Whitney, Casey, Morgan, Kristin, Rebecca and all the others that I have forgotten. The wine list is really awesome. If you feel you are worth more than what you are seeing, ask for the manager to tell you what they have off the menu. For apps you can't go wrong. Try the flash fried spinach, it's quick and amazing. I have customers come into town and insist that I take them here for this dish alone. There are also pastries, prawns and pizza that can all be shared. Dinner is amazing!! It doesn't matter if you order the steak, chicken, lamb, seafood or a unique pasta dish, you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to ask for risotto!!!! It is to die for, rice, cheese, bacon, what's not to like. I'm not a huge desert person but the one's that I have had explode with flavor in your mouth. They have just started a Banana's Foster done table side, need I say more. Don't forget the greens, they have half portions of these so that you don't get filled up before your meal. Stop reading and go. Relax, take your time and enjoy the experience. What else do you have to do, watch the news, go back to the hotel room? You deserve to be Metrotized!!!! read more

Wasn't really what I expected. Our waitress Melissa was great, service was awesome. Food was just, ok. Maybe that's because I had read previous reviews and hyped the place up in my head...... we started with the beef tips. They were nothing really amazing. Underwhelming. Too much sauce. We shared the caesar salad. That was very good. I ordered the molina. It wasn't awful, just not what I expected I guess. My boyfriend ordered the burger. He said the same about his meal. The fries were pretty good though, I tried a few. Don't wanna bash this place at all. I think i just built it up in my mind expecting something and it didnt measure up :( I would like to point out that the hostess stand was right by our table, and several times during our meal the hostess was very loud talking about the previous night's service and "the couple with the baby" and the buttons on the screen being moved around. Not a huge deal, just more of an ambiance thing...maybe use quieter voices and not talk about how late you had to stay the night before. Its all the totality of the experience. read more

I really try to like this place but I hardly ever do. Bar was fun ! We had drinks and flash fried spinach which was all good. Waitress staff were very nice. Had reservation at 7:00 but we didn't get seated till 8:00. Table was in back of Restraunt away from main floor. That was odd. Felt liked I was at child table. Order chicken. Big mistake. This was an incredible dining experience. I will qualify by saying I was in the private back room with some regulars so we received exceptional service and it was quiet and private. If you're having a get together, get this room! The food was very good and there were some unique touches that make this 5 stars. The staff here is (for the most part) amazing. I've only had one negative experience with a member of the wait staff and not even that could effect my opinion of this place. The food here is some of the best available on Springfield, and is the place I prefer to go for special occasions. I previously posted that metropolitan grill had the most amazing food, but I was very disappointed with the service. However, they have greatly redeemed themselves with my last visit! In May we took my daughter for her birthday dinner. We got right in and had a great waitress! They cooked food I wanted that wasn't even on the menu, made my daughter's birthday amazing with a special dessert and the owner brought her out her own chef's coat to keep! I have nothing negative to say about Metro anymore! They have out done themselves! read more

Always a great night at Metro! The atmosphere is perfect for date night, ladies night, couples night or a business dinner. The host Chris was very pleasant and accommodating and looked very respectable in a suit. The food is outstanding. Metro is the only place in town I order seafood. Whether it's sea bass or shrimp, it's always fresh! Of course you can never go wrong w a nice steak, cooked to the perfect temp! The wine list is vast and Pats staff is knowledgable about the wines and happy to bring a sample if you can't decide. It's always a good evening to see Kari's smiling face and get a hug!
