This was our first visit. Having been lovers of the old Riverside, we were curious about how the Morrises had revitalized the old Mill. My wife, son visiting from CO and I went in for lunch to explore the store and the restaurant. The lower level was not open for us to check out be we noticed they do have tours which we'll have to check out on a future visit. We waited a little to be seated but were greeted by a very friendly hostess, who seated us where we had a great view of the Finley River. The decor was authentically rustic no doubt chocked full of history that we would have enjoyed learning. Our server Joy brought menus including a seasonal lunch and "Express" menus. LOTS of intriguing starters, entrees and desserts. We started with salmon dip, which was very tasty. We then ordered our entrees which consisted of the fried catfish, Smash burger and fried chicken sandwich (with the hot rub.) All were outstanding! I love lots of spice and have to say I don't think my request for "extra hot " got to the chef. Anyway the spicy chicken sandwich was flavorful. Overall we had a great first experience. I had seen quite a few reviews for The Ozark Mill that, while not exactly negative, weren't very flattering about the food or staff. But we were hungry, and the restaurant and store looked beautiful, so we decided to give it a try. My wife ordered the salmon dip, and I went with the Caesar salad with the salmon add-on. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, and attentive. When the food arrived, her salmon dip came with large, thin, house-made crackers--and both the dip and the crackers were delicious. My salmon Caesar salad was excellent, and after finishing every bite of mine, I ended up helping my wife by wiping her dip bowl clean! Beautiful setting, excellent food, and a timely, attentive waitress... I think some of the other reviewers must have visited on an off day. I would absolutely return to The Ozark Mill. read more

Stopped in here while visiting Ozark today. We were here a little early and got a great table by the window. Our server Explained the menu in great detail so we knew what to order. We started with the salmon dip and chips. The dip was really good, seasoned well. I then had the meatloaf which was very good. Very lean meat with mashed potatoes that were very good. The seasoning of the meat was excellent and very balanced flavor. My wife had the Mac and cheese and really liked it as well. Service was excellent. The restaurant is a beautiful building inside. Adventure Saturday!!! Today we took a drive into Springfield and visited Finley Farms - a MUST go for a little bit of history with a load of amazing food. Finley Farms is the Ozark Mill along the Finley River that was purchased by the daughter of Johnny Morris (owner of Bass Pro Shop). They did a huge renovation and conversion to include a restaurant, country store, fine dining speakeasy style bar and restaurant, coffee shop and gardens. We started with brunch at the Ozark Mill restaurant. Then walked the grounds, including an old bridge. We headed out for a few hours and returned for dinner at The Garrison (speakeasy vibe bar and fine dining). The Brunch at the Mill was so good and includes an omelette station, biscuits and gravy (some of the best I've had), bacon, sausage, hash brown casserole, scrambled eggs, salmon, prime rib, waffles, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls and a dessert bar. Sweet tea was perfection (not too sweet) and a fresh lemonade station. This is an excellent choice and worth an hours drive for sure!!! read more

Views over the falls from restaurant windows was special. What an amazing find! We sat at the bar and had wonderful, personalized service from Anice. We ordered the Smooth Criminal IPA (which was great), the spinach dip, and the bee and butcher pizza. It was the best spinach dip I've ever had! A must try. The butcher and bee pizza was much larger than anticipated and was also delicious with a hot honey over the top. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful restaurant. Came here for a birthday dinner with family and it was the perfect place. When you walk in there's a lovely general store overlooking the dining area and the water in the back. We started with drinks - 2 off-menus Bloody Mary's, a gorgeous Lavender Gin fizz, and Maple Old Fashioned - and all were delicious. The Blood Mary was one of the best I've had. The French fries served with the main plates were the perfect rustic cut fry and the salads were fresh and delicious (my favorite was the one with the whipped goat cheese). We finished with the green tomato cake and I must admit it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. We were skeptical at first, but it's a delicious, moist, subtly sweet cake similar to carrot cake with an incredible cream cheese frosting. I'd come back for that cake and that cake alone. read more

A friend and I had lunch together today at Ozark Mill. I ordered smoked salmon dip and a Ruben sandwich with fries. Everything was ok but nothing was really great. The dip was average , but nothing special. I didn't care for the Ruben at all, it didn't have much sauerkraut at all & no taste of 1000 island dressing. It was pretty bland & the meat was too smoky & tough. The old mill is neat to see & it's a very pretty setting. I will go back & give it another chance sometime. Hopefully I will change my opinion of the food. The service was not great either, after we received our food we didn't see the waitress until we were completely done eating. Which was frustrating because we both needed ketchup & drinks refilled. The restaurant was not busy, so it was not that she was just too busy to check in. read more

We've been here several times now and it's one of our favorite places. The food is beautiful and fresh. Farm grown. Beautiful colors. Great presentation and flavor. Ambiance is warm and upscale rustic. Gorgeous place they have here. Staff are friendly and attentive. Restrooms are well stocked and have a cool feature where you can listen to Ozark history on a speaker. The fixtures in the restrooms are the old kind that your great grandparents had in their home. So cool. We love this place. Everything about it is inviting. My only complaint is that I wish they could do something about the flies that come into the dining room when people open the patio doors. I wish they would get those air blowers and attach them to the top of the door frames. They blow air down so that bugs don't come in when the door is opened. That would be a very welcome addition, in my opinion. Today we had the farmers board and the big pretzel for our appetizer. Honestly, every time we order the farmers board, I think that I could just make my entire meal out of it. The fresh Ables bread and the tomato sauce is just amazing. Today we tried the pretzel for the first time and it was fantastic. The mustard that came with it was also delicious. My entrée was the Braised Short Rib Stroganoff. It was phenomenal. I love the fresh papperdelle pasta. Pretty sure they made it from scratch. I also ordered some Parmesan fries for us to share. Those were great as well. My husband had the Chicken Fried Pork Chop and it was huge. It looked delicious with the mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband is not a fan of that style of green bean and he wasn't a fan of some of the pork chop's extra breading, but overall he liked his meal. My son had the kids burger sliders with fries and loved everything. We also shared a strawberry cobbler dessert which comes with a lemon cream ice cream. It was fantastic. They should really consider selling that ice cream by the pint. I think it would be really popular. We absolutely love this place and will certainly be back for meals and for the other amenities they offer- classes, gardening, another fine dining option with the Garrison, etc. read more

This is a farm to table restaurant. We went during Sunday brunch so we did not order off the menu. The food was amazing. There is appetizers, salads, breakfast foods (bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy,etc), a waffle bar, & dessert table. They also have a full bar. Service was great. Ambience was magical. It is Christmas time so they were several Christmas trees and winter decor items. It's a very spacious restaurant with several areas to sit at a table & a store at the entrance of the restaurant. Wow, from the moment you pull onto this property, you are swept back into time! Absolutely amazing! The service, food, and ambiance are absolutely over the top! The Mill Burger is the best burger we have ever had! Gruyere Cheese, Braised Short Ribs, Truffle Aoili, Arugula, all on top of the Burger! Seasoned to perfection! The Green Tomato Cake is absolutely so moist and delicious! You can not taste the tomato. It's like adding apple sauce to a cake for moisture. All the food was served hot and fresh tasting! Our server was very informative and attentive. The view from our table looking outside was beautiful! Even the bathroom is unquic! We highly recommend this place. I'm giving three stars, and only so high because the views are great for a restaurant in the area. Otherwise, you're eating pretentiously named and overpriced food that isn't cooked all that well, in a place that's hyped up as if it's fancy, when actually you're eating in a grungy old barn that was just a ruined mill for decades... this isn't exactly luxury. Still, they're priced as if they are--especially for the area. I just don't get it--it doesn't seem like a well fleshed out restaurant concept to me. The food is also a disappointment. For example, I just bought a $110 steak special yesterday, and frankly, I could've gotten a better tasting, higher quality steak at Outback--and for the price, I get world-class steaks during work trips at establishments like Morton's, Fleming's, Ruth's Chris, etc. And locally, Flame or Jimm's would be the better choice for such a steak. So, I feel very let down that I paid so much for such a poorly done steak--this thing had the taste and texture of a tough chuck roast cut. Additionally, they don't dry-age, which is a disappointment for a high-priced steak. And, further, they have no idea how to sear properly. Honestly, avoid paying for steak at The Ozark Mill. They have a ~$84 22-ounce bone-in ribeye on their regular menu, and for that price, if it compares to the low quality of the awful tomahawk steak I just had yesterday, well... if you order it, I'm sure you'll be as disappointed as I am. That said, the views are great. You're really paying for a view, and nothing more. Then again, you can get a similar view cooking a steak on a bbq grill at the park across the river, and odds are that steak is cheaper and tastes just as good. *caveat: I haven't had any issues with service here. Servers are nice and attentive. Though... holy cow, kitchen staff, not only do you clearly lack the necessary tools to properly cook high-priced steaks based on what you sent me, but it also took an hour for you to cook a steak... that's not awesome service. I feel bad for the server having to be the bearer of bad news about the wait--the chef probably ought to have come out to bear that burden for him. read more

Y'all. Y'all. wow. I am in love. 6/5 stars. You can't miss this experience. It's amazing. This place is a gem. Go during happy hour (everyday but Saturday) from 2pm to 5pm. Their happy hour smoked salmon dip ($7.50) is one of my favorite things I've had at a restaurant this year. Don't sleep on their risotto fritters either ($7). Those are small bites of happiness. Their pizza's are fire-baked sourdough crust and that Butcher & the Bee is dee-licious. That Mike's Hot Honey drizzle over sausage + pepperoni offers a sweet to the salty and the sourdough crust is crispy and chewy and has so much flavor. The hot honey is the perfect subtle sweetness topping and balances the savory saltiness of the pork so so well. (Que that song, "I just can't get enough. I just can't get enough"). Oh y'all. Their ricotta ravioli is crave-a-ble. Chef Korman knocks it out of the park with these little flavor bites. Incredibly well done. The grain bowl was a feast of flavors. And I'd order it again in a heartbeat, add grilled chicken. The vegetables tasted so fresh, and paired with that yummy romesco sauce, oh-M-gee. The chicken was perfectly tender and juicy. It's a grain bowl done two notches better than any other grain bowl I've tried. Their gem lettuce salad was perfect. So so good. The fried chicken sandwich was very good. It's a well done chicken sandwich. After trying so many of their dishes, I'd say it hasn't been my favorite thing on the lunch menu, but worth a try if it's calling your name. And the views while enjoying great food paired with excellent service don't really get any better than this. It's a special experience dining here either on the back patio or inside the main dining room. Both offer fantastic views overlooking the water flowing over the Finley River dam. It's a great date spot, for sure, but do yourself a favor and go during happy hour, it's the same great food for a lot less $$. During happy hour they offer half-price appetizers and specials on cocktails, beer, and wine. We aren't from the area, but find ourselves driving out of our way to keep coming back. We love the Ozark Mill at Finley Farms restaurant and I hope to get to go back a few times each year, it's really that special. I haven't had anything less than delicious yet on their menu. Oh! I almost forgot! Their cocktail program is on. point. Love love love the gin fizz and the old fashioned. They have some great offerings of canned/bottled beer on their menu too. Atmosphere is amazing. You are back in the late 1800s seeing the Finley River rush by. I got the fried pork - lots to eat and I just ditched eating my usual healthy meal with a salad. Uggh. No bone but it was cooked perfectly and moist. Funny thing, I couldn't stop eating it. So good! The green beans, skinny and lightly crispy, was awesome. The chicken sandwich was TERRIBLE! It was quite obvious that they stopped changing the oil. The sandwich was greasy with no flavor. Dessert was great. The mint crème brûlée tasted heavenly. It filled me up. We have visited frequently. Last time was okay. The other previous visits were great. Unfortunately, the restaurant may be sliding down.
