I love this wonderful diner! I have eaten there twice and both times were wonderful! Since fried chicken is my absolute favorite meat, I highly recommend Metro's fried chicken and waffles or the fried chicken meal. You definitely will not be disappointed! I had lunch with two of my friends and I ordered the fish and chips. There is nothing special about the fish. Fries and coleslaw were good. One friend had the Western omelette which was very good. However, the amazing dish was the fried chicken. I had to wait five minutes only for a Friday lunch hour which is not bad. The service was good. read more

Alright so I'm pretty excited that they opened up a Metro Diner down here. I've been to the one in Richmond and thoroughly enjoyed myself.. look 1 I've been here to eat breakfast a few times and enjoyed both experiences. I sat on the inside the first time and had the basic meal with just eggs bacon and grits. The service was good on both visits only thing I didn't like was the cover band music that they played. The second time I went I set up on the little patio which was small but very nice.. they don't allow you to smoke out there which was a bummer but it's definitely a nice addition. In a World of mediocre food, this place stands out. Our group tried breakfast and lunch dishe and it was all delish!!! Service was excellent as well. The place is vibrant and hopping. My only compliant was it was too much food. I'd like the option of small plates or half orders. I wanted to try one of the daily specials but I knew it would be way too much food. So instead I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup. I love broccoli soup but generally hate when they combine it with cheese as it ends up tasting like cheese sauce, overly cheesy and way too rich. This soup was divine. It tasted like broccoli, which is as it should be. It really wasn't at all soup like though. A bit too thick, but flavor was right on. Happy Father's Day to me, Surprise Surprise I could've made breakfast at home if I would've known!!.. My wife ordered breakfast for us and picked it up, she ordered biscuits and gravy and said to me she wasn't thrilled with it. ( she didn't get until full detail as to why but added she will never order from here again)!. I ordered the three egg breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs turkey sausage links wheat toast and home fries. Only to find out I was given a fried egg and shredded potatoes which they classify as home fries ( that's two different types of preparation of potatoes in my opinion anyway). After a very long wait. We finally seated and ordered our meals. I ordered the brissell breakfast and most came as expected. The eggs was still running even though I ordered it well scrabbled with cheese. I gave the plate back to the waitress and she came back saying "the manager said he can't do anything since I already ate some of the food". What was I suppose to be doing with the food? I told them to keep the rest of the food. How do you give me raw food and refuse to at least replace that part. Although the order was addressed after I went inside to talk to the manager. Ok so I found this place of course via yelp and heard a lot of good things about it so me and babe decided to try t out... We got there and was greeted immediately and seated and in about another minute had the waitress come for drink orders and asked if we've been here before and told of about the specials of the day... One of the specials was salmon with andouille sausage and something else and I was like yasssss but then it said Brussels sprouts I said noooo.. I needed up getting the meatloaf dinner that came with Mach potatoes and gravy and mixed sautéed squash.. The only think I had to add was a hint of salt and it was slamming !!!! It was cooked to perfection and I was all for it !!! Babe ordered a chicken tender salad which was huge and basically a meal in itself , then he also got the Holy Davoli burger that looked like two grilled cheeses with bacon and tomatoes with the hamburger and a fried egg in between he said it was AMAZING !!!! Food is great. Hostess not so much. I was here at 11am , 5/7/23 if management cares. There were 6 or more clean and empty tables in the place but she was not seating people. When I asked her if we can get one of those tables since I had been waiting 20+ minutes she seemed annoyed. After we finally got seated I watched other people set for 30+ minutes waiting for a table- And there were still 5 to 6 tables of various sizes clean and open. So I went to this diner for the first time on a Tuesday morning around 10am. The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. I was a little disappointed. I ordered the San Francisco Benedict, my husband got the Bissell breakfast. My holkaidaise sauce was not done proper so it looked curdled, both of our hasbrowns were hard as rocks, the hot sauce on the table tasted spoiled, the coffee was lukewarm. I wouldn't consider myself and my family regulars, but we've been here on multiple occasions. Food and service have always been top notch. However, yesterday morning we witnessed something that led me to leave this two star review. There were some employees, seemingly in good spirits enjoying a conversation when another less enthused employee walked over at a relatively fast pace, and intentionally pushed one girl off of her seat! This was within my line of sight, along with many other customers. Quite a shock to say the least & I'm thankful I didn't have my children with me to see this. I will say, kudos to the employee she hit, who seemed much younger, because she handled it well. It had been a LOOONG LOOONG LOOONG TIME since I have been out. I FINALLY went and had a very early breakfast with my bestie at a favorite place of ours. We hadn't seen each other in FOREVER!! I give HIGH 5 ‍STARS KUDOS TO METRO DINER!! I will only go to places where they do complete facility control over thier 6 feet distance and mask mandate rules with thier staff as well as with thier customers and they enforce it and I will only go right when it opens cause this is when there are no people yet. This place is GOLD!!!!! I love the open kitchen idea. The service was amazing. I had the Philly cheesesteak and fries and my wife had the tuna slad stuffed tomato with a side of loaded baked potato soup. Everything was fantastic. Love their menu and will be back. So I decided to try out this place called metro diner because I had heard mixed reviews. So I decided let me figure out and make my own decision! So I call in an order and I go and pick up my chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles are fairly simple to make. Fry chicken, put waffle in the waffle maker. Boom. So I figure if that's what they're known for, it must be good! So I get home and I'm excited because I smell all the exciting aromas! I open my fried chicken and this is what I see. I don't know about you, but this chicken wasn't fried fresh. As someone who has cooked a lot of fried chicken, I can tell you this is chicken that was refried. So far so good. They sent me a really good coupon in the mail and I had to try it out. The staff here is very young. Taylor greeted me at the host stand, seated me, and was also my waitress. She was extremely friendly. From the looks of the staff interaction everyone gets along. There was a slight delay in taking my order due to side co worker conversations but I think that is normal with such a young staff. I don't like their silverware. As with most restaurants the quick wash cycle doesn't get the stuck on food off. I opted for plastic ware instead. I ordered a breakfast meal (my favorite of the day) and it came out pretty fast and looked delicious. My food was really good. The cheesest grits were over rated. But the French toast were amazing. I would definitely come back. Home fries were seasoned well and the eggs tasted fresh. I give it a 4/5 with a need for minor improvements. read more

went to dinner on a Wednesday night. It wasn't busy. Our waitress was more interested in talking with her friends than serving. Ordered the chicken pot pie. it was not fresh, very salty and undercooked. Returned the food; it was only about 10% touched and was inedible. I was still charged for the food. Shame on them! The first time we requested a high chair but were then seated in a booth and told high chairs cant go with booths because of the walkway, so we had to be reseated despite telling them we needed a high chair. The vibe is one of a moderately sized chain but the food and service are like a family owned diner that's been there forever. Serving sizes are " American" , the menu selections span from traditional to a little nouveau ( avocado toast), and they are more than willing to accommodate special requests to tweak their offerings. Let me start by saying I normally love the food but tonight I was served green beens that still had the stems and some stalks on them. I spoke to the waitress and she asked me to talk to the manager. He said he could not control how the beans look because of different produce vendors used. I said have one of you employees to clean them. He said he was too busy for that. Then he said some beans might have been missed. None of them were cleaned. His last statement was that he had gotten serveral complains about the beans not being cleaned. I do not know how a manager expects someone to eat stems and stalks. Waitress apologized several times but it was not her fault. Wow! I have passed this place a few times and never thought to stop in but I'm glad I did. It was suggested by friends and we went for breakfast. My first thought (esp being from the greater northeast) was "I'm not eating any diner food outside of Jersey." Luckily, I wasn't too hard set on that and the $2.99 daily mimosas helped soften me up to them a bit. We went in on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed, we were told a 15 minute wait which I was not confident they were going to make as no one seemed like they'd be getting up soon or had even really started eating. Luckily, we were able to grab a spot at the bar. Then began the horror of absolutely terrible service. Our waitress approached us with an attitude and after requesting menus she became really hard to get a hold of. As the bar overlooked the kitchen, we were able to make small talk and get suggestions from the cooks! Again however, when we were finally able to order we were greeted with an attitude. Fast forward to the food- I requested half chicken and waffles , sub the waffles for pancakes at the suggestion of the couple next to me AND the cooks. My server told me I couldn't do this and I ended up getting some a la cartes or whatever, fast forward the food was good. My server asked if I wanted some of the house sauce of the chicken and before I could answer informed me "she had to make it so if I didn't want it she didn't have to make it" ...very welcoming, yeah no- I'll pass. This review is based purely on the FRIED CHICKEN. Metro Diner is a chain restaurant you may have seen in a few locations. Looking at the promotional material or ads you may see that they state they are rated highly for their fried chicken. They do not lie. They have two meal options with the fried chicken. A chicken and waffles entree and a chicken dinner entree. Both meals come standard with a half chicken (breast, wing, leg, and thigh) but they do have half orders with two pieces. The chicken is moist and golden fried to a nice crunch. This chicken has to be brined to be so moist. It is seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of salt to not be overbearing. As with all fried things, it does have a little bit of grease, but I find it to not be so much that my fingers look like I dipped it a vat of oil. The flavor of this chicken will keep you coming back. As a condiment, the chicken comes with Metro's Sweet Hot sauce. It's just some standard hot sauce (Lousiana or Texas Pete) mixed with some syrup. If you enjoy fried chicken, this place is definitely worth checking out. read more
