New Realm Brewing Company is a cute, quaint brewery that checks most of the boxes for a great outing. The location is convenient with plenty of parking right next to the Hilton Garden Inn, making it easy to find and access. The venue offers nice variety in seating -- you can choose between the well air-conditioned indoor space with attractive decor and high-top tables, or head outside to their spacious outdoor area. There's even a rooftop area that looks promising (though I didn't get to explore it this visit). Inside, you'll find TVs for catching the game and a pretty good bar selection, though it's not quite a full bar. The staff were super friendly and attentive, which really elevated the experience. I tried the Southern Brogue stout and it was excellent -- definitely worth ordering. Fair warning: it does get loud since it's an active brewery, so it's not the place for an intimate quiet conversation. But if you're looking for a lively atmosphere with good beer, friendly service, and flexible seating options, New Realm delivers. Would definitely come back to check out that rooftop! read more

Went here for their Practical Magic Night and, honestly, just getting into the parking lot had me nervous. It was SO crowded, and seeing all the people outside had me dreading going inside. But I was pleasantly surprised! I came here with some friends and we were greeted at the door when we walked in. You can either seat yourself at the Tiki Rooftop or outside, or they can seat you. We opted to seat ourselves at the rooftop, and I was surprised by how uncrowded it was up there! There was plenty of seating, and the decorations were so cute. You order your food and drinks at the bar, and the bartender was super nice. She even gave us a sample of one of the drinks, which was super thoughtful since we were hesitant which drink to get! My friend ended up ordering the one that we sampled, and I went with their seasonal slushy. It was a piña colada and was pretty good! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that they allow kids on the rooftop. I was expecting more of an adults-only space since I've been to other bars where the rooftop was only for 21+. Other than that, we had a great time and I'm definitely coming back! read more

Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone,so without further explanation let's begin!. This is my first time actually going to a brewery and this experience was what I hoped for!. We walked in and were greeted by the employee standing behind the podium. We were seated immediately, then were approached just as quickly by our waiter. He brought our drinks and food out in a very timely fashion. The atmosphere was just as chill, everyone enjoying the vibe, the drinks and the food!. The weather was perfect enough to sit outside as well if you choose to. I stopped at New Realm for lunch and was impressed with everything from the moment I walked in. I sat at the bar and had a great view of their tap room through their giant glass windows. Having visited the new realm in VB I was familiar with their beer selections but rarely travel to this portion of Hampton roads. It may have been the time of day but the service was extremely quick and the entire vibe of this brewery would make it an ideal location to meet with larger groups. I ordered their bacon burger and it was everything you want. The spicy jalapeños and onions were an amazing touch. I'll be back for sure! read more

Really good appetizers and good drinks. I would come back just for the Asian loaded fries, those are absolutely amazing! The outdoor area is super nice and great for socializing! It's beautiful. The only thing I could recommend is having some lawn games, outdoor toys for families. We came on a Friday night as a table of 5 and were surprisingly sat right away. Even though the restaurant wasn't super crowded, service was veryyyy slow. We've been here three times and slow service does seem to be a pattern which is why I am only giving 4 stars. Anyways, our drinks took about 30 minutes and then most of us never ordered a second because of how long it takes. Our food came out faster than our drinks. Other than the extremely inattentive and slow service, the food and drinks are delicious. We get the Asian style fries as an appetizer every time we come! The food comes out fairly fast and tastes great! I think this restaurant just has some kinks / staffing issues to work out. But if you have a few hours and want good food - this is it! read more

Stopped by for an early dinner & we're sat outside - we had intentions of heading outside after eating our food but were told we would have to close our tab & create another tab for outside. By the time we were done eating & finally got our bill we didn't feel like wasting anymore time Pizza was okay but the Asian loaded fries were delicious! Beers are pretty good, there's definitely a smaller selection. We tried the seltzer, cider, IPA & lager. The outside looked nice, if we come back we'll check that out instead. read more

Good atmosphere with a fun menu! On a busy Saturday evening, our party of four was able to grab a seat inside after roughly a 15 minute wait. The outside area was packed to capacity which was to be expected on a lovely Summer evening. Our server was friendly and the drinks were great, but slow to reach the table. The food was delicious but accompaniments were missing/86 for the night. All in all we found a winner in the Hazy Like A Fox on tap and purchased 2 six packs to take on the road. Easily one of my favorite places in the 757. The vibes are great and the staff is always amazing. Service is fast and accurate. The food comes out fast, the pizza is my favorite. The crust great and seasonings they add. They always have a rotating slushy or two. I honestly haven't had one that hasn't been great, some stronger than others. But definitely family friendly environment, they gave a pet park too, live music, in house brewing and spirits as well. read more

I'm generally not impressed with the beer selection at New Realm. However this location has much more going for it than just beer. Western Branch/eastern Suffolk is an up and coming destination for Hampton Roads. This new location definitely adds to the vibe out here. One of the big surprises is the rooftop bar and cocktails! Summers and cool breeze fall nights will be epic here. The servers are all on top of their game and eager to serve you. I was also pleased to see the plethora of bathrooms! ( i should have taken a picture of them). There is an amazing outdoor area with fire pits and cover seating. The inside is very modern and has lots of seating. There is a kitchen that serves tasty dishes, definitely a unique option for a brewery in Hampton roads. This place is out of my way generally but I won't mind make plans to come out this way from now on. read more

Solid 4.5 - I'll push to 5 to be fair b/c of improvement from the last visit. Came out here for date night. Decided to eat b/c the food looked really good when we were there last time. It was super packed and I have a feeling that when the summer time comes around, people are going to be parking all over the place and walking over. To our delight the food taste matched the appearance. Everything we had was delicious and just spot on. Tie that with the great customer service and delicious beer - total win. I have no doubt that this place will be super successful. If you haven't checked it out, it's worth a visit. First time here and it was a mix of emotions! First glance this is a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere! The outside sitting, with fire pits, high top tables and umbrellas is so nice. The inside area is clean and sleek looking. Didn't go to the roof top but I can imagine at night it's amazing! The beer and drinks were wonderful. My only issue was the food. Subpar at best. The place itself is beautiful, and has plenty of unique seating but it has much to improve on especially at the prices. The wait staff was wonderful. The specialty cocktails were great and we're presented beautifully however, the pricey food was given to us in plastic containers, with plastic silverware, and were small portions. The hummus was just pretty much spread over the bottom of a plastic container with a few pitas. My friend's shrimp and grits was very small. The pizza was not great, even though was highly recommend by the staff. It would probably be one of my least favorite meals I've had in a long time. The crust was crackery/dry and there was barely any sauce or cheese. Drinks were presented in glasses but wine was given in a plastic cup. If you charge that much for food and drinks, it should be presented well. There was also a hidden 3% charge on my receipt. Overall, it was meh. Decent People next door has much better food and drinks presentation, bigger portions, and better prices. I'd be willing to try it again someday but have switched our next bookclub over to next door. read more

I was super hyped for New Realm to open here! However, this is based on my first experience there. The place is beautiful and am excited for more events to happen here and hopeful the rating will change with future experiences. I was excited to see that Buffalo chicken dip was added to the menu as this is one of my favorites. I was SHOCKED at the quantity that was served for $14 worth of Buffalo chicken dip, let alone it was also thrown onto our table and tipped over upon arrival. Taste was also very mid. Disappointed to say the least. My friends food looked better so my recommendation would be to spend your money on something other than the buffalo chicken dip! I saw this brewery listed on multiple threads for being "family friendly" and I agree. Fully fenced in and a little dog relief area as well. We went on a rainy Sunday (May 4th party) and had the whole outside space to ourselves. Nice area with lounges and fire pits are cute. Food, service, and beer all great. Has declined in a year. Menu is minimal compared to a year ago. Lunch time, opening at 1130, we walked in and saw a sign telling us to order from menu at the bar. There is a self service water dispenser with plastic cups at the bar. We were then given a number to take to a table of our choice. 2 people, 2 sandwiches. 25 minutes later, our meal arrived but we had no silver ware or napkins, ketchup etc. So we waited for that. Nobody checked on us, we walked back up to bar to get more water from the dispenser. Very usual experience and we won't be back. A large group of women came in for a birthday party, ordering drinks and had a waitress while we sat and waited for the bill. Again, we went to the bar to get the bill and pay it. It was odd. My smash burger was dried out and way overcooked. Wife's pepperoni pizza was good. Mixed drinks were weak. I am a few and far between drinker. I had my drink and my wifes. Hers was too sour for her. So as not to waste it, I drank it. Left with zero buzz. Usually I get a buzz from half a drink. Spending $160.00+ out for 5 people, only two people were happy with their food. Would not recommend. A group of 8 of us came in on a Friday night and were told it was a 45 minute wait. We decided to wait on the patio by the fire pits, and the wait felt a lot quicker! You can order at the outdoor bar while you're waiting. We were seated in only about 20 minutes. Our server was friendly and the food came out quick. It's typical brewery food, but the prices are reasonable and we were happy with everything we got. I got a smashburger lettuce wrapped with sweet potato fries. The burger patties were a little salty for me, but the fries were cooked to perfection-- hot and crispy! We also ordered the ahi tuna bowl and fish & chips. Both dishes tasted fresh and were devoured. Overall, this is a great spot to watch a game with friends, grab a drink, and eat some solid food. With the tvs playing, it's definitely a louder restaurant, so I wouldn't recommend for a date night or intimate dinner. Stopped in to New Realm as I was staying overnight at the Hilton next door and glad I did. Had a delicious 'New Realm' burger which is not your every day burger. Paired this with a few of their American IPA ( psychedelic rabbit?) beers and enjoyed them outside on their expansive patio. Great place for a solo diner, the bar seemed fun, or with families as there were some kids running around on the back lawn. Staff was very helpful and friendly-will be back when I am in the area! I will say this is more of a restaurant vs a brewery but definitely worth a stop.Their outdoor space has plenty of tables, couches and big fire pits for small and large groups. read more

Even though it was super busy, Kate and Mac took great care of me, checking on me, getting drinks and food and making sure I was taken care of, even though things were obviously super busy. Very cool place! I'm sure this would be awesome in the Summer as they have a lot of outdoor seating. We went as a group of 12 for Music Bingo which was super fun! Brandi was our host and was AMAZING and helpful! I had the Cuban sandwich and wasn't super impressed, but I'm from Tampa where it originated so I'm biased. Another person in our group ordered it and LOVED it! Two people ordered the Bavarian pretzel and loved it. The person next to me ordered the shrimp and grits and.... let me tell you....I wished I had ordered that. It smelled soooooooo good! 3 stars might be giving them too much credit but the staff was really nice and the facilities were well done. The beer was normal New Realm. So it was good but not the best I've had. The food was very disappointing. The nachos came out room temperature and didn't have nearly enough toppings for the price. The fish in the fish and chip was slightly warm but the fries were room temperature and the cole slaw was warmer than the fries. We might be back. Not nearly as often as if the food was good. read more
