Great food and table service! It's pretty loud and feels chaotic with the wide open spacing, but we will go back when we're in the mood.

This may be my new favorite breakfast spot in town. The food was great, the servings were big, the wait time was good and the waitress was excellent. Haley was very attentive to our needs and had a great personality. She even got my usually shy daughter to speak! The manager also took the time to stop by and make sure everything was ok. Today two of my friends and I had a lste luch here. One of my friens ordered shrimp without grits and the restaurant was happy to fill her order. I have been to restaurants that would not do that. My other friend had soup and sandwich and I had a hamburger. We sat on an enclosed patio which has a roll up clear plastic wall and a thick mesh bottom that can be rolled up depending on the weather. This was horrible dining experience. Waitress was great. Cheerful and knowledgeable. We heard manager yelling at the cook staff to expedite orders. The entire restaurant could hear her as she shouted at the cook staff. She had no clue what was going on. Our appetizer came after we finished eating. My entree was over cooked. My wife's entree was under cooked. Our side dishes were wrong. The entrees were not prepared as requested. We asked to speak to manager. She came over sporting serious attitude. She tried to blame it all on our waitress who did nothing wrong. While we were finishing up our surly manager stopped by four other tables and apologized to them for the horrible food and service. The table beside us had ordered an ice cream dish for dessert. She brought it out at their insistence...and even the ice cream was wrong. Need new evening shift management. I am not in the habit of complaining. Called for takeout- food was 15 min late, and shame on me for not checking it at pickup; as it was missing a salad! I called back and was told to come back -was not driving 20 mile for a salad, I said as much, told "we are slammed," manager will call you back later- no call received. Was a great place to Eat the first couple of visits, however, they keep the air at 60 degrees and it was freezing cold. Service was good but this time they said it was a 15 minute wait. We waited 30 minutes for a table. We ordered with our server immediately. we waited 1 hour for food as we saw everyone around us get served. Our server Mariah was sweet but said her tablet stopped working and they never got our order in the kitchen. She said would be a few minutes. 20 minutes later, still no food. This was my second visit to this location. I had breakfast and enjoyed good service and good food. I returned on a Saturday evening at 5:30 PM and was greeted by hostess and seated promptly and left with menus. About 15 minutes passed and no one stopped by our table. My wife got the attention of a server who stated she was not our server but would ask our server to come to our table. Ten minutes passed and out of desperation we got up to leave. The hostess opened the door to let us out and didn't even ask why we were leaving. I asked to speak to the manager. She came to us and asked how she could help us. I explained the situation and she responded that probably none of the servers knew they should wait on our assigned area. She added that she hoped we would come back at another time. I was flabbergasted that she didn't care enough to ask us to stay and get someone to wait on us. Word spreads rapidly in our upscale retirement community, yet she let us walk!! The service was adequate, no complaints there. However the food just wasn't good. Ordered the Big Mike's BLT which consisted of 3 very thick slices of dry white bread, a bunch of bacon slices smashed together in the middle, two teeny tiny slices of tomato- one on each layer- that only covered half of the bread on the sandwiches, and one limp piece of green leaf lettuce, and faint trace of mayo. I didn't know a BLT could be bad until I ate here. Basically ate a bacon and dry toast sandwich. Very disappointing. Got a side of home fries which were decent but under seasoned. My daughter had chicken and waffles. It looked fantastic but she said the fried chicken was kinda dry and that Publix fried chicken is much better. Pricey place and mediocre food. Well, I always like the atmosphere here , food is not bad after all . Today , our waitress pick up the plates from next table , dropped one the plates shuttered and piece of plate cut my friend foot started bleeding , waiters causally said oh looks fine , moved on .I asked her bring bandaid she comes back with some tissue cursing about restaurants not having bandaid . Taped the tissue on her foot , then came back with her iPad almost dropped that on our head . I even told she needs to calm down she almost dropped again , she became defensive .We payed the bill then manager comes over , when I told her what happened she right away said " did guys payed" I told her "this is not about money little more concern about customer, we are not here for free food " Then she said "oh sorry about what happened here coupons for next time ". Oh well we are sorry too things could of be handled better if little more concerned about the customer who was there the have breakfast not to have plates dropped on her foot . Don't get me wrong accident happen but how we handle accident it is more important. 3 of us had dinner here tonight, the food and service were amazing! i am celiac and the server was knowledgeable about the menu and if he didn't know he went right back and asked! plenty of gluten free options besides a salad the gf bun that came with my hamburger was amazing! my husband had an omelet and it was very good he said! my brother in law had the roast turkey dinner and the turkey breast was indeed homemade and very juicy, everything was homemade you could tell, can't recommend this place enough we will be back! read more

Disappointing . Very slow. We were there an hour and a half for lunch including wait time for2. Cheeseburger had obviously been sitting too long on the heat lamp counter, and over cooked. What a great find! Pulled over for a last minute lunch and decided to bypass the favorite chickn' spot, and SO glad we did! Enormous portions! The burger was fresh, the onion rings were Panko crusted and golden, the fish and chips lightly battered and crisp, and the chicken noodle soup most definitely didn't come from a can! Two tars for the kitchen staff only. Server and Manager today get 5 stars. Read on.... Well I've driven by this place time after time and thought today I'd stop for my first visit. Very "quaint" interior, but it's very noisey. Was seated at a table in the back of the restaurant at a bench seat at a table I had to keep a foot on the leg, to keep from wobbling. Let me start by clearing this up. The 2 stars rating I am giving has nothing at all to do with my Server "Cassidy" or the manager a very nice lady, just didn't get her name. Cassidy was great, very pleasant and very helpful as I let her know this was my first time. She knew each of the specials by memory as she never broke eye contact with me. She suggested items and if I'd like a Mimosa. Had been talking to the couple that was sitting next to me who were regular customers and they raved on the food. When Cassidy came back with my Cranberry Mimosa, she asked so politely if I was by chance ready to order. Based on the opinion of the woman customer at the table next to me , I ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict. After a while my meal was brought out by another server who almost delivered it to another table. I looked and all seemed fine. So much for appearances. The home fries were deep fried potato chunks and the onions appeared to be rehydrated onions sprinkled over the potatoes. The chunks of the potatoes were very salty and I had not used any salt at all. The poached eggs were rock hard yolks on the same level as hard boiled eggs. The Hollandaise sauce was either canned or powdered as it sat there like stiff gravy of a very strange, very dark yellow. The hollandaise was broken as the oil was separating from the sauce base. Totally unappetizing . I was extremely disappointed in a place that friends had said I need to go to as I eat out a great deal ( 3 to 7 times a week). The Manager came over when I motioned for her and she took it back to the kitchen. Both she and Cassidy asked if they could have the meal re-made. I declined each time they asked. The Manager and Cassidy both came over and apologized profusely and I said it was not their fault and IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT, they did not cook the meal. It was the kitchen staff that failed them and me . Poached eggs are to be soft and almost gelatinous with totally runny warm yolks. No hard yolk should be inside a poached egg at all. I have never encountered a kitchen that cannot get a poached egg right in all the years I have dined out and traveled the globe till today 05-05-19 here in Melbourne. And as far as the canned or powdered Hollandaise Sauce, there is no excuse possible for not making fresh sauce and not having it look disgusting as my plate did with the broken, stiff, old looking dark yellow flavorless gravy. Again, Cassidy and the woman who was managing today were the saving grace on my first visit to Metro Diner. I was given a gift voucher and assured that things would be better when I came back. The manager even apologized again to me as I was leaving at the front door. And because of her and Cassidy asking me to please come back and try it again, I probably will take a chance . Pretty good for brunch/breakfast. Was very hyped up about this place, so maybe that's why I feel pretty mediocre about it. Cheddar grits not cheesy enough in my opinion. The one thing I was very impressed by was the wait time! Considering it was a Sunday, 2 people got in within 10 minutes even though it was packed. Sorry but the food has gone way down in quality since you've opened in the area. Last few times I went there the wait times were too long. The waitress even took my tea glass to refill and never came back. Went for breakfast and the eggs were hard and over cooked. The pancakes were tough and basically tasteless. Having been a line cook myself I understand the time constraint, but I feel it's more in the prep than the cooking. I do however enjoy the friendliness of the staff. Not nearly as good as Jacksonville...but I grew up going to the original in riverside. We always seem to have some kind of debacle with our order. The monte Cristo and chicken and waffles are excellent. read more
