I love diners in general so I and my two family members stopped after church to have a breakfast or lunch. The place is cute. Clearly it's been around for many years as evidenced by its ambiance. It's clean and has eclectic seating which is charming, actually. Unfortunately it seemed to quite understaffed during our visit. We only saw one waiter and he wasn't moving very fast. It took a long time to get coffee refills and we witnessed at least three other parties leave either before they were able to order and in one case a group left telling the staff to just pack up their food so they could leave. When our order was delivered it was "good enough" for two of us but pretty ordinary. One of our party was quite disappointed. I'm sorry to say it's unlikely we will return. There weren't. Lot of cars in the parking lot which in retrospect seems to indicate this may not be a favorite in the area. Odd for a Sunday after church. read more

I really hate to be a downer, but it appears Apollo has crash landed. I've been a loyal customer for many years. Lots of great meals with my parents and my friends. In 2009, I even ate there on the way home from the hospital after losing a parent. I hadn't eaten in way too long and the staff at that version of Apollo felt like family to me, and I really needed that. Lots of love. On October 3rd I stopped in for lunch. Now that they've taken out that big u-shaped bar there are a few new tables in its place. I sat at one of those. Well, I sat, and I sat, and I sat. It took way too long for anyone to address or even acknowledge me. I was about to get up and leave when Michelle came over and took my drink order. I asked for unsweet tea, with lemon. What I got was warm tea, no ice, no lemon. I tried in vain to get Michelle's or someone's, anyone's attention to no avail. AGAIN, I sat, and I sat, and I sat. I ended up walking over to Michelle by the register, asking if she had forgotten me? I advised I still wanted to order food plus I needed lemon, and I needed ice for my tea. Michelle advised the ice machine wasn't working properly but she'd try to get me some ice. I ended up with about a third of a cup of ice. WHAT IS INTERESTING? I see in earlier reviews, one as far back as August 16, a reviewer mentioned then that the ice machine was out of order. Hmmm I walked back to my table with Michelle in tow. She took my order, a Chef Salad. I have enjoyed many, many really great Apollo Chef Salads in the past. This salad was not one of them. It was just okay. Also, it was quite a bit smaller than what I've ever received. It is now served on a smallish flat plate and not in a big bowl as I'm used to. And for $13.00 it is not worth that money for the portion size or the taste. While there, I noticed a couple come in, sit down and get their drinks. Later, I noticed them leaving without ever having eaten. As they were exiting, they talked to the lady at the register. I overheard them say he had to get back to work and they wouldn't be back. Ultimately, I would LOVE to see Apollo Diner stick around. But growing pains or whatever else is going on must be addressed. Regular diners at Apollo know exactly what they want and what they expect. Friendly staff, great service, excellent food, nice sized portions and decent prices are what will keep the place going, as before. Good luck. read more

If the food in Brevard doesn't start getting better, I'm going to end up with self-inflicted alopecia from pulling out clumps of my hair. Come on, Melbourne. How sad is it when I must state that I found food so inedible that the restaurant deserved zero stars. Luckily for the Apollo Diner in Melbourne, I'm awarding it 1/2 a star despite its terrible fare. This is solely because of Bonita, our awesome server, who is always so charming and accommodating. A little history: I have many fond childhood memories of family dinners in this building where I've been coming in to eat for over 50 years. As a kid, my family used to come in once a week for delicious BBQ at what was a Fat Boys over 30 years ago. Later, this place became a Jimmie Joes before going Greek. A couple of decades ago, the original owners of the Apollo Diner ran a great little restaurant out of here. Then they sold it and the food quality plummeted. Every new owner of the Apollo Diner--and this is the fourth--has kept the same name and attempted to jazz up the décor, but the food has never been the same. Over five years ago, I came in to review this joint under the second owner and ended up getting up and leaving without eating because the service was so bad (my waitress decided to hang out and chat with her boyfriend for over half an hour rather than put in my order). Over three years ago, I came back in under the third owner and even enjoyed some decently prepared bacon and eggs, which was served with a smile by the abovementioned Bonita, giving it a full three stars. This was back in 2019. However, six months ago, a fourth owner took over. They took out the food trough and got rid of the sleepwalking wait staff. To their credit, they kept Bonita. So, what's wrong with the food? Could it be that an Egyptian family (at least I was told they were Egyptian, but online they say they offer a weekend Turkish BBQ) shouldn't make Greek food? At the old San Remo Restaurant on US-1 in Melbourne now a Greek family serves both Italian and Arabic food and both suck. Just saying. I ordered the Greek Skillet and the Apollo "Plater," which I assume was supposed to be "Platter." It always worries when me when a restaurant can't correctly spell the items on its menu. Or when it brags on Facebook that it has a live "Billie" (belly?) dancer on Friday nights. The long and short of it is this: The fourth owner is not the charm. The swill served here was inedible. You want tasty Greek cuisine? Why not try the Olympia Café on US-1 in Melbourne, where Teddy the Greek has been serving the real thing to Brevardians for forty years. Was there eating the other day and a rat was running around the dining room. The owner was doing nothing about it as if he didn't acknowledge it, noone else would notice. When an employee started speaking to the owner about closing to take care if it, be became very loud & disrespectful and kicked the employee out. I heard another employee saying they've had a bad rat issue for quite a while and the owner does nothing because he doesn't want to spend the money to do so. The fact that the owner was ok with remaining open and still trying to serve food so he didn't lose money is insane! Had the Apollo skillet, and felt the cost was a bit more than I would pay at other similar diners for the quality. It was good, but nothing special. The service was extremely slow - taking over 45 minutes for a single diner to get in and out. The ambiance was OK. Nothing special. Entire place seemed to be cooled by loud, awkward window units. The first thing you notice when you walk in to the restaurant is the old school look and feel to it. it seems like they have left the place in its original decor. everything has an 'old & used' look, from the dingy tables to the old chairs. the food was not good, very dry and tasteless burger and the slice of cheese on my cheeseburger wasn't even melted. my spouse ordered eggs with cheese and received a slice of cheese on top of her scrambled eggs(why do restaurants think this ok????) that again was not melted!! How is it that this happens on 2 orders on items that should be hot when served?? This is a great little diner. It's not fancy, but it is clean, the food is good quality, the plates a large, and the price is quite reasonable. Sabrina has been my server twice now, and both times she is fast, accurate, and delightfully engaging. Ham and eggs, hash browns x2, and a cup of coffee came to $11.29. While we were on our way to another restaurant for breakfast, I noticed the Apollo Diner. My husband and I always look for local businesses preferring local over franchise restaurants. When we walked inside we were greeted and told that we could be seated at any available table. Michelle came to our table and immediately brought our coffee. Coffee hot and tasty. Apollo offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can order from any part of the menu! Our order came to us very quickly. Eggs were cooked as ordered and the home fries were delish! 3 strips of bacon that was flavorful and just right. My husband had beautifully cooked scrambled eggs and was very pleased with the flavor of the ham. Our coffee cups were never empty which I appreciated. Oohh what a beautiful breakfast menu they have here and it's served all day. We got the burgers, and these burgers were delicious and absolutely cooked to perfection. I got the double cheeseburger. Thinking of getting 2 small patties. No, these were 2 thicker patties of delicious ground beef, and they were absolutely mouthwatering. Sadly I was not able to eat the whole thing. The fries were the tastiest I've had in a long time. The fries were cooked to perfection and they were delicious. The sweet tea, I had 4 glasses of sweet tea with lemon with my meal and took a cup to go, so the sweet tea here is awesome. Melissa was our server and she was absolutely precious. Very attentive, friendly and professional. This little diner is truly a hidden gem and if you're in Melbourne you should definitely visit this place. The food was mediocre at best. The salad was warm and the gyro meat was cold. The meatballs were tasteless. We told our waitress, who had the owner visit us. The owner was not really listening to what we had to say. She just kept repeating that "our gyros are the best in town". I had to add one star to leave a review, otherwise, I would have left none. To start the place in under new managent. No more shining faces of the ladies that used to wait the tables. No hello or good morning when you walk in, they just say sit where you want. They are under new management and it shows. This used to be such a wonderful place. I will NEVER come back. There are many other places to eat but this place had a sweet spot in our heart. They are horrible now. Our server was obviously new, timid, and sweet but forgetful as all get out. She forgot most of the order and my silverware. The food runner was the rudest guy I have ever seen. I went to the restroom and I saw him coming with tray of food so I stepped out of his way and he SNAPPED at me- THATS WHERE I WAS GOING! Then he brought the food to the table and I said oh my order is missing bacon. Then he snapped at me again and he said YOU CAN ORDER BACON. I said I did order bacon. Then he ran away from the table and we tried to ask him for syrupand silverware and he just kept walking. We tried to get his attention and my brother in law said "wait...sir..." then he yelled "or just keep walking" and he never looked back. I had to walk up the counter and ask for everything we needed. The waitress came over to us and rewrote our order. Then, omg she came back to ask us what she needed to charge us for! She brought the items she forgot as we were getting ready to pay. We took the items to go. We will never go back again. If you enjoyed your time spend in this restaurant before the new management took over, just cherish that and move on. You will never have that experience again there. I really miss the old management. The food runner guy is what really set it off wrong. I can understand a mixed up order and oops I forgot this and that. We can even understand the long wait for food that we had. And good lord if that food runner guy is the owner or new management then this place is screwed. They will not be in business for much longer. That dude is making people miserable. Just an FYI we still tipped. I feel like the waitress was new amd never had done this before and she had zero support from her fellow staff. So it's kind of not her fault. We could have complained to the manager or owner when we paid but it would just ruin our day. I also don't think they would have cared. So, I leave this review for you.
