Had a nice breakfast with a friend here at Southern Sisters. I enjoyed the fact that they had both tables and booths . I ordered just a plain cheese omelette which was really good which came with shoestring potatoes and a biscuit ( too salty) otherwise everything else was good . The server was very friendly and quick with our order. Prices are a bit pricey but I enjoyed my visit

I love my breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurants and I often review on a curve for local mom-n-pops. However, there will always be a time when even that curve doesn't show any favor. Sadly, that is the case for this current outing to Southern Sisters Cafe. The quaint restaurant, which looks like it had an Italian or Roman theme prior to it being the Southern Sisters Cafe is located on the northside of Sarno Rd. in Melbourne (Eau Gallie). The interiror is a unique personalized version of what Cracker Barrel does as there are miscellaneous knick-knacks, pictures, and gizmos from the olden days just strewn about on the walls and horizontal surfaces. Where the Southen Sisters Cafe kinda dropped the ball was with the food. It was either a hit or miss depending on who ordered what. Apparently, the omelette and eggs benedict were good, but my simple options were underdelivered. For starters, I asked for over medium eggs and they were over easy (very runny). The biscuits to gravy ratio was off meaning there was far too much biscuit and not enough gravy. Yet, the sweet potato pancake was amazing. Better than any other sweet potato pancake I ever had. On a sidenote, the service was kind and prompt, the price of food was generally on the high end of less than $10. Finally, the restrooms were a little debrised but not too bad. I will give The Southern Sisters Cafe another chance to help even out this review. But for now, they are an average mom-n-pop diner.

FIRST time I've stepped foot into this place in 50 YEARS! Not since it was Pizza Oven. The teenager in me was glad to be back. The adult in me was happy, too! EXCELLENT food! Very very friendly and polite staff as well! What more can I say? How about high fives for Shannon! She was the Wizard of Wow, taking magical care of my dining experience. THE best fried chicken I've EVER put in my mouth!! The krispiest, krunchiest krazy great fried chicken! Every bite into that golden brown goodness was grand! Yet the insides were juicy delicious. I'll repeat. Incredible fried chicken! Fantastic folks! Super service! THAT....is true Southern hospitality.

Chicken Parmesan too much for just one! Yummy!

At my neighborhood Southern Sisters Restaurant. Great down-home cooking. Reasonably priced, excellent tasting food. My family has been coming here for years. Worth the return visits over and over again!

Decided to try it out for lunch (as we have always had great meals for breakfast) and..... again it didn't disappoint! Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming when you walk in. I ordered a turkey club on sour dough and onion rings, wife ordered chicken tenders, fries and a cup of their potato soup (and of course a biscuit a MUST). The soup came out first, I was lucky enough to pry the spoon away from my wife to get a taste, it was SO good. Loaded with cheese and bacon it's my wife's favorite. Then came lunch, my goodness huge portion of chicken tenders and fries (wife couldn't finish them) and much to my surprise what I can only assume as home made onion rings (definitely not from the freezer dry battered O rings). What a great meal! (I don't know why we never have tried it out for lunch)

Great service! I had breakfast with my toddler and they were so accommodating. Food was good. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes

Country Fried steak, hash browns, eggs over medium, a biscuit. (We added a side of bacon)
    Hope I.

Great prices and good food dont get any better from a diner than at Southern Sisters Cafe! Friendly staff who really take the time to know their regulars, not to mention they are very supportive of their veterans and senior customers. The decor really reflects their patriotism and has a "back at home" feel! There is a bar available which is nice if you decide to dine in alone, or tables and booth options for multiples. Their [country fried steak] is always great! Hash browns and eggs cooked perfectly. Their biscuits? Holy cow are they good! Perfect southern style biscuit, crumbly and cakey - absolutely perfect with some soft butter. The [chicken tender] plate is your classic tenders from a diner! Their okra are awesome and worth mentioning as well. And the biggest must mention (in my book) are their [MIMOSAS]! If you like your drinks poured with a "splash" of OJ, this is where you want to get your mimosas from! (And for only $8 at that) Make sure you have a sober driver with you, if you're 2 mimosas deep you're going to be feeling great by the time you leave! Lol

This little place had fantastic customer service. The decor was what we expected but does fit the southern sisters vibe. I ordered 1/2 biscuits and gravy with home fries(no onions and peppers), eggs and sausage. The gravy was really good the biscuits were a tad gritty for me( I don't eat many biscuits, these reminded me why) sausage were good, had good flavor. The eggs are what you expect from most breakfast places. The potatoes I was excited for since they deep fry them... well not sure what happened mine looked burnt enough for waitress to ask if they were to overdone and still came out soggy... whats worse than soggy potatoes ones that were over cooked. My daughter got a sandwich with sausage gravy to dip it in, hash-browns crispy. Let me start of by saying there have not been many times that she eats every bite plus some of others food. She said the self built "casserole" she made was delicious the gravy made it amazing. The hash browns were a huge portion cooked perfectly for her. We will definitely go back, overall the food had flavor, and the staff was amazing. The price was on the cheaper end in the area and they take apple pay.

Then after having many other burgers/sandwiches on our trip I opted for the chickpea pasta with veggies and leaving off the parm to make it vegan. **INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.
