My husband and I met up with a friend from Virginia and one from Jacksonville for lunch here. The location was just perfect for the day we had planned. I hadn't been to Smokey Bones in forever, since the one in Boca Raton, FL closed down. We had a delightful chat with our server, Amy, who helped us make wonderful choices for our lunch. The pulled pork was a favorite, the mac and cheese was just scrumptious and I really, really wanted more garlic toast but I held myself back. We even had gift cards with us that Amy worked expertly to our bill. I do like this location and I would definitely recommend the food to anyone in the Melbourne area!

Experience: New Year's Eve afternoon around 12:15 and we placed a Togo order. Facility: This place smells amazing as soon as you walk in. Not surprisingly it smells smoky and delicious. I'm also hungry The place has a sports bar vibe. Lots of TVs if you want to watch the game. They have high and low tables and chairs, bar seating and some booths. Service: We tried to do curbside order online but they don't allow you to use more than one gift card and I had 2 to use. So I went inside and placed the order. Paula took my order and she was awesome and helpful. Also, while waiting for the order to be done, a manager and even the bartender came by and checked on me to ensure I had been helped and to see if I needed a drink. Everyone is wonderful here!! Food: Bacon cheese burger and cheese fries - 3/5 the burger was great although somehow they forgot the bacon, but I told them we only wanted cheese and bacon on the fries, but they put some weird sweet bbq flavor on them. My kid wouldn't eat them. A waste of our money. Korean lollipops - 5/5 these were good... I especially loved the sauce as it had the perfect amount of spicy heat. Brisket sandwich - 5/5 yum... loved this!! Crispy Texas toast style bread with cheese and BBQ brisket. Sweet potato fries - 5/5 they were good according to my kid Banana pudding - they did not have this, but the manager replaced it with 2 other desserts, which was very kind. Hot donuts 5/5 - these are sooo good! We didn't eat the sauces, but this flavor reminds you of fried dough at the fair. Really rich and yummy!! Overall: I will definitely be back. I dropped it to 4/5 because of them messing up my kid's order and having to throw away the fries (his fav part). Otherwise service and food was great!!

    Pretzel Bones

I have to tell you that for the most part I love this place and I really hope they stay! But..... when they become so cheap that they water down their cheese dipping sauce for the pretzel bones it makes me wanna go, Now why do I love this place? Cheese dip should not be watery and taste watered down especially when you pay 14.40 for 6 peices of bread sticks and nasty watery cheese. SAD. It's making me consider not coming back. AND I HATE HATE THIS FEELING. Sorry Smokey Bones, but I cannot spend my hard earned money on this crap again! Give me a shout out when you go back to cheese dip instead of flavorless cheese looking dip.

It was what you would expect from an establishment like this. Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The wait staff was super friendly and honestly made the experience so much better. They have buy one get one free wings, so there really is nothing to complain about if that is what you are after! I recommend going here if you want decent cheap food.

Everything was on point! The steak was delicious, perfectly cooked to my order, the mashed potatoes creamy, the broccoli steamed perfectly, the mac&cheese was sooo good, and that corn bread is to die for with that delicious butter. My hubby loved his wings, been coming here after a hiatus, and I have to say, this is delicious!! Not a one bad thing and this is our 3rd time in two months. Our server was so nice and friendly, the ambiance was nice too, even in the busiest that we have been here, we get our food hot and within a reasonable time. Definitely a keeper.

If I could give this negative stars, I would. Dirty table. The advertisement for dessert was in need of a wipe down, as were all the bottles at the table (although obviously someone used to do that because most of the wording was missing from the bottles of BBQ sauce. Waitress was argumentative? Insisting there were 3 in our party when there were only two of us. 5:23 pm and they are out of corn...$27 for two slices of brisket. Way too salty and tastes a little "off". Normally I give a place a second chance, but the torn (and not taped seats) and a bathroom that was (at this point not surprisingly) dirty and only gives one square of single ply toilet paper at a time...will not be back!

Pros: full menu til 12:30am, late night happy hour, decent food, tasty drinks, good prices, plenty of seating, pretty clean. Cons: a bit understaffed, bartender seemed overwhelmed, food took a while.

Wow!! My experience was so good! I came here for happy hour and Smoky Bones definitely didn't disappoint. I got so much bang for my buck! I started with pretzel bones and a 6oz glass of Merlot and then moved onto the loaded nachos (which don't include meat) but I ordered the pork sandwich that only cost $5 which had enough meat to spread over my nachos and enjoy the sandwich for the next day (: then finished with a cornbread skillet. All of this great food came to $25. I forgot to take pictures of the whole spread but I left happy, well fed and content with my leftovers. Staff was great and friendly. Open bar space and restaurant with a nice relaxed ambiance. Bobby was our bartender and he was great! I will definitely be back, especially now that I know they serve brunch!

Being from the Midwest it's difficult to find good BBQ. Great BBQ and we like to pick up our order to eat at home.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.

It's a cute place and fun to go to. I got the pancake flight and loved I could pick different…read moreflavors

Nothing special as far as the selections. We ordered loaded nachos and a chicken wing basket. Both were well executed with fresh ingredients. Even the cheese on the nachos tasted fresh. Food is solid, bar food, but still very acceptable. I had mahi mahi tacos, besides the fish being little tougher, everything else is pretty solid. My husband enjoyed his burger, meat was cooked nicely and was not too dry, which is usually a big complaint, however this team made it very good. I don't know that food is to die for, but the ambiance, service, friendliness is on point. The waitress was absolutely amazing, she came and checked on us just enough that we felt seen but not too much that it pressured us. We didn't even want to leave, staying there and hanging out is so much fun. Overall highly recommend for some more quiet and low key nights. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we will be back! P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not the stars reflect that.
