The onion petals were crispy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the spicy remoulade sauce. For the wings, I tried both the Carolina Vinegar and the Hot Garlic flavors. The smoked wings themselves were outstanding, and the Hot Garlic sauce was especially memorable because it featured real garlic, which added incredible flavor. These are definitely wings I will come back for and highly recommend to anyone visiting. My partner ordered the BBQ pulled pork quesadillas with seasoned fries. The fries were more like freshly cut chips, nicely seasoned and delicious, and the quesadillas were excellent as well. This is an old establish and it shows. Really it a bar that serves BBQ. I had heard about this place from my previous job was just down the road. Popular for team building events. Went for lunch on a Friday and they had two servers and only one working the dining area. We sat in the very dark dining area. Every surface was painted black. Lighting was pretty poor and it was hard to read the menus. Ordered a pulled pork platter and a pulled pork sandwich. They both came with "fried chips" and the platter had another side and we chose beans. Bourbon Bbq sauce was our choice. The pork was good. Good portions on both sandwich and platter. Beans had some "heat" which I don't favor but my son really liked. The chip fries or fried chips - whichever they call them were seasoned with a garlic salt it tasted like. However they could have used about another minute I the fryer. The bigger ones were raw in the middle. May have been a byproduct of a large party in their event room throwing off their timing. But if cooked a bit more they would be a unique side for the area and good. Server was stretched thin. Freshens my son's drink but not mine until he brought the check. By then meal was over. I had water. Not difficult. Rib special looked good from a distance and I heard they are known for wings. Maybe next time. Been here twice and mainly came for the wings that were highly recommended by friends. The wings lived up to the hype! We like the smoked and flash-fried ones with sides of sauce. We've also ordered some appetizers and they've been good, but the wings are the star of the show. Very good selection of beers on tap. Staff has been ultra friendly, attentive, and helpful each time. As you pull up to this restaurant you immediately notice that there are no windows it looks closed and it's perhaps a bit scary. Upon entering you'll find yourself in a huge dining space with a large bar and all the ambiance of being in a barbecue joint. I was there for lunch and the place was packed but not too loud. The service was attentive and friendly, the server knowledgeable. The food was just okay, not great but not horrible either. It was before 4pm so ribs were not available. We tried the appetizer sampler which was good but the fried items greasy. The barbecue we had, pulled pork and pulled rib meat was flavorful but dry and on this day the smoke fried wings were good but lacked any real smoke flavor. My wife ordered what we call a blooming onion but they call an onion Patel. She also ordered season potato and ordered boneless wings bit. She loved everything that she ordered which I was happy for. I however, ordered something that I haven't tried, which was smoked barbecue wings, which I will not try again then I wouldn't have decided to barbecue egg roll which I will never do again. The only thing that I like was the blooming onionPatel. I let the waiter know I will never eat it again. Very large bar/restaurant area. Has a side area that is full of pool tables and will provide waiter/waitress service. Everyone is polite and cordial. Many many a sports game has been watched here but to me that's not the highlight. The highlight is the food. They have the BEST wings in Brevard county in my opinion. Get the wings smoked, plain, and then dunk into your choice of sauce. Honestly, they're so good you don't need the sauce. The pulled pork sandwich is also excellent. Frankly, everything I've had here is excellent, but the wings are the star. Oh! Thanksgiving coming up? **INITIAL REVIEW** Along with the now-defunct Bat Cave Gastropub, The Broken Barrel Tavern (which I will shorthand simply to the Broken Barrel) is the other bar/pub establishment that happens to combine nerdlore and pub culture. It is often a fine place to enjoy a brew, enjoy a meal, and enjoy company with friends that is within the busiest parts of Palm Bay/Melbourne city limit without having to trek to any of the historic downtowns. Broken Barrel is often one of the places my church crew and I frequent after our studies on Saturday night. Every single time, it has been a fine experience. Ergo, if anyone were curious of trying out the pub, I would always highly-recommend it in general. To start, Broken Barrel is located in a strip/shopping mall in the southwest quadrant of the formerly "most dangerous intersection in Brevard County," Palm Bay Rd./Babcock St. The strip/shopping mall is called Sabal Palm Square, the same strip/shopping mall Twisted Biscuit is located. Broken Barrel, however, is more in the middle in between a Boost Mobile and a kid's place called YuJump. From the outside, the storefront for Broken Barrel really doesn't stand out compared to the rest of the stores in the strip/shopping mall. Maybe the two storefront windows and double-door entrance shows a semblance of a traditioal bar, but that is about it. It is when you enter you know you're in a local bar/pub. To the right are pool tables and dart boards with a couple of large group seating arrangements. Directly in front is the main dining area with the bar front and center. The southeast corner of the main dining area has been sectioned off as a small makeshift stage for nightly entertainment acts. I have seen local comedians and musicians perform here over my numerous visits. As for the decor, typical bar/pub style but with a modern twist. One of said modern twists includes chalkboard walls with artwork, quotes, and names chalked on by patrons, both regular locals and visitors alike. For dining fare, we will start with the food in which it is typical modern bar/pub fare given the Broken Barrel love/spin. Think of BBQ nachos, BBQ egg rolls, bleu cheese fries, fish dip, and fried handholds (wings, cheesesticks, etc.). For mains, think of burgers and sandwiches. That is the bulk of their menu. My crew and I had plenty of the foods Broken Barrel has to offer. Some of the foods worth mentioning are the chocolate and peanut butter pie slice (dessert), the sampler (appetizer), and pulled pork plate (main dish). As for drinks, they have your typical soda products which is good for those who can't enjoy a beer or for the youngins' not of age yet, but they have a nice selection of domestics and local beers. I seen the main brews of local breweries, including Hell n' Blazes, Intracoastal, and Playalinda, featured on the beer menu. For those who want something a bit more familiar, they have domestics like Miller and Corona. I, however, was surpised they had my fav beer of them all: Lambics. Took it on myself to enjoy a Lindemann's, which is the commonly distributed Lambic I can think of here in the U.S. Add in that the waitstaff is friendly, especially my aquainted friend Abby, in which we known each other since her days working at Arcade Monsters, Broken Barrel is one of the better places, that is specifically a bar or pub, to enjoy on the Space Coast. The only downside: Broken Barrel doesn't accept Apple Pay or Google Pay. There was a time I only had my digital wallet on my phone and well... let's just say I am thankful my friend Rachel had Zelle. I paid her, she paid Broken Barrel. Even though I have been here only a couple of times, I am giving Broken Barrel four out of five stars. One or two more visits, if they stay consistent, I'll give them their fifth star. read more

So we had an interesting experience at this establishment. First, I'll say that the food was above average and the prices were fine. This review will focus on their beer size or more specifically, their pint size. I ordered a Sam Adam's draft beer (16 oz) and my father in law ordered a non-alcoholic Sam Adam's can of beer (12 oz). Menu says that all drafts are 16 oz (pint) unless otherwise noted. When the waitress brought the drinks she had identical Sam Adam's glasses. She poured his can into the glass and it filled the glass completely. I mentioned that I thought all draft beer was 16 oz. She confirmed. So I said, well if these glasses are identical and his can filled it, then mine is also 12 oz, not 16 oz. She seemed confused but agreed that the glasses were identical and they were both filled. We all saw it when I mentioned it and agreed. She offered to ask the bartender about it. I said that might be a good idea because if they are using these glasses for everyone, then they not providing 16 oz. The bartender came by with one of the Sam Adam's glasses as well as a different glass that he contended was a pint glass (it was full of water). He demonstrated by pouring the water from one glass into the other that they were both 16 oz. What he proved is that their 'pint' glasses are also 12 oz. He left frustrated with me. I was really trying to help but instead everyone left frustrated. I don't think there is some sort of conspiracy happening in the bar, but just understand that you are getting 12 oz when you get a beer. Not the 16 oz that is advertised on the menu. In the present, my appraisal will be 3.5-stars, owing solely to the enduring strength of the smoked wings. Incidentally, Abby is our ofitsiant qiz. Upon further review, ordering barbeque first thing Monday morning is likely far from ideal, as the pulled rib meat maintained a mushy texture and possessed a lethargic consistency. It betrayed the telltale aroma of a microwave reheat and presented as subpar fare, likely the product of yemeless indifference. Despite the admittedly woeful pulled rib platter and indeed standing in stark contrast, the eight wings were most delicious. These were perfectly smoked, exceptionally tasty, and reminiscent of a caliber and quality that would allow them to be just as delectable, if eaten cold tomorrow. I drove almost 30 minutes from home specifically to try the $19.99 rib special at the Broken Barrel. Sadly-I walked out without trying any of the food offerings. My experience with Michael as my server was horrendous. He was rude and abrasive and cut us off in the middle of our appetizer order. His attitude was so bad we cancelled our appetizer order before he was able to submit the ticket. He ignored us after the fact, and we had to ask the manager for our bill. When we tried to address our experience with the manager-she got defensive and argumentative. We had anticipated spending $100 on our meal. We left spending less than $10. Our $100 went to a different restaurant where we had a much better experience. So disappointed-I made the drive based on someone's recommendations on the ribs.
