Our visit to hook and eagle was likely an irregular one, they seemed to be celebrating someone's birthday with karaoke which gave the place a very lively energy. Since it was a large group of people attending the event we opted to sit outside where a waitress came out to take our orders. She brought out our drinks quickly, but it took a minute for our food to come out likely because of the large number of people which we understood. The pimento cheese dip was slightly spicy but totally tolerable for me. The pretzels were very soft, with the cheese dip I think those were my favorites. My entree came out of the kitchen piping hot so I knew it wasn't just sitting around as we waited. Over all do not regret stopping by! read more

Outrageously expensive lunch for four: 3 iced teas (one water) 1 hot dog (with bagged chips that come with it) 3 single burgers of varying types (two with pub chips that come with it, the other with upgraded side of Brussels sprouts) *note- They were NOT the surf and turf burgers which was very expensive. Total cost $69! After 20% tip it was $82. OUTRAGEOUS! Everything (food and service) was satisfactory but nothing was outstanding. Went here for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. We ordered espresso martinis and they were STRONG, almost too strong. I ordered a chicken spicy sandwich and sweet potato fries. It was pretty good. I didn't expect the sweet potato fries to have cinnamon sugar on them so that was a surprise treat. My friend ordered the bowl and was underwhelmed. This place is essentially the food service arm of the Viera East golf course. Between my golf expenses and food, drink and entertainment, my wife and I spend a great deal of time AND money (probably close to $4k/yr) at this venue. Food and drink alone account for about $2500 over the course of a year. It's not like we're random guests there. A large group of the employees there are on a first name basis with is. So its been extremely frustrating and disappointing for me to have to write this, but regrettably it is the second time in as many visits that this has occurred. 'Being ignored!' Why? Who knows? Is it incompetence? Poor communication? Indifference? On our previous visit my wife and I had gone to hear a performer 'Lacey' sing. She's great and typically packs a crowd, so we got there early. After chatting with some friends at the bar for a bit we went outside and took a clean table. There was an uncleared table at our preferred location and just a few other people out there at the time, but we took the hi-top right in the middle. Hard to miss us. Several hurried passes by a waitress with no acknowledgement of our existence! Finally we were able to flag down a waitress, who then conferred with another waitress and finally we were able to place a drink order and request menus. This all took about 15 minutes. 5 minutes later, still no drinks, no menus. We walked. Since, as I said, they know us, word quickly got back to the manager who contacted my wife with an apology. No excuse. I appreciate that. Last night, Johnnie Danger was playing. Another great performer. This time we were a bit later due to previous plans, but my wife got there before me and was sitting with some friends of ours who are VERY WELL known at Viera East. I sat, I flagged down waitress #1, ordered a beer and a menu. My wife had already been served her drink and food. When the waitress came back with my beer she said I can't take your order 'cause this isn't my table and I don't wanna get in trouble. She waved over waitress #2, whose table we were sitting at and explained she would be our server. So far. So good! I ended up ordering some food and another beer. It was delivered fine. THEN, we just disappeared apparently! I had finished half my food order and gave the rest to a friend sitting at our table. At this point we have my wife and I sitting against the wall. Empty beer glasses and empty plates stacking up. No bus people are on staff here. We're at a high top that seats 4 normally, yet we have 7 people at our table. Somehow, waitress #1, who earlier had told me she couldn't wait on me because it wasn't her table, was serving EVERYBODY else at the table. It was when the 7th member of our table arrived and was able to order with waitress #1 and actually get served that the light came on. I had been waiting for well over 15 minutes to even get an acknowledgement that I existed, and still nobody bothered to ask if I needed anything or even to clear the table of the empties piling up. Waitress #2 zoomed by on several occasions, but I guess we had the cloak of invisibility on! Nuthin! No service! I was sitting there asking myself WTF is going on? I told my wife we were leaving, got up from the table, went inside and paid. I ALWAYS TIP 20%. It can only go down from there, however, in the state of rage I was in I mistakenly tipped this disaster my usual 20%. My bad. Should have been 5%. read more

BLUF: If you're looking for a great burger or brunch, and splendid hospitality, look no further. Just be patient, since they have a smaller staff compared to other restaurants. My family has only lived in Melbourne for a year, but Hook and Eagle Tavern (H&ET) has became our go-to burger place. Despite the long wait on busy days, my family and I have eaten here dozens of times by now, so we think the wait is worth it! The main reason my wife and I come and eat at H&ET is Thursday Burger Night, where all burgers start at $6. The burgers themselves can be considered "smash burgers" in terms of thin-ness. And they all have 2 burger patties in them, with options for more or even a veggie option. Each burger also comes with default add-ons like lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. There are tons of extra add-ons and sauces (for a small increased price), my favorites being an over-easy egg, jalapenos, or pork ends. Eating here for brunch is also a delight, since you can eat inside or outside, and the view of the golf course is a treat. The menu items themselves are delicious and fair in price. My wife always gets the biscuits and gravy, which she loves, and I either get the Chicken and Waffles or the Shrimp and Grits (with added cheese). Sadly, the chicken sometimes is a hit or miss, and sometimes end up dry, but the breading and the waffles always taste great, so it's something that I can let pass. Even though my son doesn't like eating the menu items (he's 4yo so he's picky), my daughter loves it. They have a decent selection for kid's items, but they also have snacks, which my son loves. I'm assuming the snacks are for the golfers for a quick grab-and-go option, but my son will just want granola or fig bars, and a bag of chips. So if you do have a picky child, just know that H&ET has options. If you can't already tell, I highly recommend Hook and Eagle Tavern. You don't need be a member of the golf club to eat here. So my wife and I decided to try this place out. We ordered dry chicken wings and they came out swimming in oil, terrible. Then I ordered a traditional Rubin sandwich. There is a picture of the Rubin on the menu. It came out next to no meat and zero sauerkraut. I sent it back and waited for another. The new one came out bathed in oil, so much so that as I picked it up it was falling apart in my hands. I got the check and left. The home made potato chips were good and a very nice view from the window. Service was fine. So if you are in the mood for good service, chips and a nice view this is the place for you. To the owner/managing entity of this establishment, you are missing the mark.... What an absolutely incredible opportunity you have to not only serve an amazing community, but to also make a wonderful profit and you are missing it. This review is not so much towards the food quality because our meals were actually very good, but more towards the service. While our waitress was very nice, the restaurant was incredible understaffed which was felt by us and other customers. Our wait time for drinks, food and anything else needed was beyond unacceptable. The way to run a successful business is to provide world class customer service and you are absolutely failing at that. Please do better and please don't make customers feel bad for having to walk up to the bar and get their own condiments/drinks. read more

This place is top notch. They've recently won local foodie awards, and the recognition is well deserved. The burgers are delicious and the chicken sandwiches are by far the absolute BEST around. The servers and owners recognize my family now and have on more than one occasion gone out of their way to ensure expectations were exceeded. I wanted to love this place. $6 burgers on Thursdays (of course, everything was an add on - but that's okay), on a golf course, close by...seemed like a win. Sitting outside was very nice, and the food came quickly. My husband loved his burger and mine was good (over cooked, but still good). BUT, I have never been given a smaller pour of a class of wine in my life. I ordered a second glass as I was thinking, maybe the waiter (outdoor bartender) made a mistake, but no, the second pour was just as small as the first. I was so annoyed, I rinsed out the plastic cup and brought it home. The pours were LESS than 3.5 ounces!!!!! And this was Sycamore Lane (not a high end wine). We enjoyed down home New Orleans comfort food including Crawfish & Shrimp Cakes, Reuben Egg Rolls and the best Street Corn I've ever had! Great menu with amazing Burger options and many other dining choices. Nicely remodeled facility with a wonderful Golf course View. Plenty of room and parking. Great service too!
