Consistent quality and service. A nice thing here in Melbourne. Went for breakfast and ordered up my usual omelette. Dang it is big. I enjoyed it very much. Good balance in ingredients. Crunchy bacon and just the right amount of cheese inside. I also appreciate the avocado on top not inside. We also had the three egg breakfast with bacon sausage home fries and grits. Big portion and so some came home with us. Not sure what they season the potatoes with but not a fan of how much they put on. Every member of the staff seemed attentive, energetic, and genuinely focused on taking care of the guests. The vibe of this place is just off. As we're seated, I'm told we have to vote in some sort of contest for the wait staff, whom I don't know at all yet. Then, as the host receded, they decide to station the Easter bunny for Easter, which is the next week, right next to the bathrooms, but sitting on a stool staring straight at me. Childhood PTSD kicked in big time. I think that they finally figured that out, because they moved him to the front. The whole thing, like most of the restaurant, was awkward. Food? It was not awful. I'll preface this with saying I came here when it opened and it was an absolute GEM of a local restaurant. However service has consistently gone downhill to the culmination of my final visit to Eggs Up Melbourne. I would encourage you to go elsewhere 45+ minute wait for garbage tier service. Waitress took order and disappeared until food was delivered by a runner 45 minutes later. Bacon and sausage were what only can be described as "cremated." Either the 3 workers standing at the kitchen window don't know what right looks like, or don't care, because they appeared to have zero issue with a lack of quality control. The two managers on duty didn't seem to care either as they were non existent until we raised the issue that the food we ordered 3/4ths of an hour earlier was burned to a point it was inedible. Miraculously properly cooked food showed up 3 minutes later, and it's utterly baffling that they can make that happen after the fact but can't bother to do it right the first time. First time visiting Eggs Up Grill. Walking in the Grill is bright and spotless. Greeted as soon as we walked in, within a minute Rob our server was asking what we wanted to drink. Coffee was great as was the service and food. We were sitting there and a woman with a baby carriage was leaving. Rob dropped what he was doing and went to hold the door for the women. I mean how nice was that? We ordered the Red, White and Blue waffles. It was delicious and came with FRESH fruit. Servings were generous and we felt there was a lot of value for the price. Terrible experience. One of the worst we've had if not the worst. The wait wasn't long to get seated but as soon as we sit down within 30 seconds no menu in our hands the waitress comes over asking what we want to drink. I politely ask for a minute to look over the menu which then turns into 5+ minutes of her not coming back. Finally comes back and we give the drink and food order. My wife ordered the loaded home fry bowl, i got the texican bowl. She hates black olives, they aren't supposed to be in the meal at all. She found 2 in hers. Mine comes with salsa and sour cream, tiny servings not nearly enough for the entire bowl. Got no refills or asked how our meal was nothing. Food was nothing special at all, mediocre at best. Excellent for chicken tenders, anything sweet, fantastic, but in our experience party of 3, two breakfasts were 'health conscious' and those were so so. One had a small fly in the fruit cup , an eyelash or eyebrow hair in the eggs , a missing ingredient ( feta cheese) and wet spinach in egg white 'omelette'. The restaurant has an unusual item, an egg counter. Count is now over 100k eggs used. They give back to the community which is great. The restaurant has unique and cute pics on the wall. Nice clean place. Very attentive waitress. Always kept coffee cups full. There is a nice variety of seating available including large booths on the left side. It was early so the sun was on the first set of tables and booth by the windows. They can use some type of screening. The rear booth on the left has some type of workstation behind it and its noisy for anyone in that booth, especially with chatty staff. I went with a couple of neighbors. One guy is an aficionado for Southern Grits. He was disappointed to be served instant grits. Home fries were perfect! I suggest the kitchen staff remember it is completely open to the dining area.
