I was driving by contemplating what I wanted to cook and I saw an early bird special sign so it drove me in. I got seated right away however I had to ask for the early birds menu. The waitress didn't seem too happy about it but then she warmed up. Also, I noticed on Wednesday they have enchilada specials and on Monday they have some half-price appetizers! In 1926, Alelaida "Mama" Cuellar's tamales were a massive hit at the county fair. Two years later, they opened their first restaurant in Kaufman, TX. The 11th opened in Six Flags Over Texas and is credited with introducing Mexican food to the American masses. In 1940, Mama Cuellar's children opened the first El Chico Cafe in Dallas, TX. Susan was my outstanding service professional for the meal. I asked Susan for an order of their Chorizo Tacos, a Grande Pollo Burrito and a side of chips and salsa. Susan brought my order out in no time and after snapping a few pics, I got to work. I always wonder if cooks smell the ingredients before they start using them OR do they smell them, realize they are not so fresh anymore, and think the dining public won't notice? Either way, this cook deserves strong jobation for this dish. The Chorizo meat was not good; it wasn't rancid, but if you opened the walk-in, I wouldn't be surprised if it was seen beating up the tomatoes as it was undoubtedly turning bad. Moving on to the Grande Pollo Burrito - the hero of this meal. Even though the chicken was a tad on the rubbery side (my guess is heated up in the microwave, but I could be wrong), the rice, beans and other fillings were excellent. While a bit chewy, the chicken was fajita-flavored and served with a beautiful chipotle wine sauce. The rice was cooked to perfection and the frijoles rancheros were succulently seasoned. If the chicken hadn't been nuked, it would have been fantastic. This brings me to what passed as chips and salsa in this cuchara grasosa. Please look at that pic and tell me that's not a cup of ketchup with a smattering of spice sprinkled in. It sure as Texas didn't taste like salsa. The chips were OK, but the salsa was not. Located right next to the mall. Not sure how we never knew about this gem. All three adults and three children were so happy with their food and service. Upon walking in staff was very friendly and warm. The decor is very fun and it was well decorated for Christmas. Our server was amazing. Taking care of 6 people of all ages flawlessly and with a big smile on her face. The chips and salsa were delicious. They were kind enough to make a mild salsa for our baby. He had a blast dipping away. For drinks my husband loved his beer. I was so excited to see they had Margarita flights!! They have various flights to choose from. I chose the Blue Miracle. This came with Blueberry Ginger 'Rita, Perfect Patron Margarita, Baja Blue Swirl Rita and Berry Sangria Rita. Every single one was amazing and the price was incredible. The 'tableside guac' is fabulous, and the El Jefe margaritas are very tasty. The menu has plenty of variety, and also vegetarian options! Most of all, (for us Dog lovers), on the last Saturday of the month, they have 'Yappy Hour' on the patio. Bring your dog, and bring a bag of dog food or treats for donation to the highlighted rescue society, and you'll receive a cup of queso and chips for free. We were looking for a place we could go to and waste time and we had our dog with us. Glad to have found such a dog friendly place. We sat outside on the patio with our dog. The hostess was super nice and welcoming and so was our server. Our server brought out a dog water bowl. Some person came out (idk if they were a manager but they worked with el Chico) and started trying to train the dog and asked me for chicken off my plate to give him as a treat. That completely threw me off and I didn't want to give her any. You should have treats in your pocket if you're gonna randomly start training dogs and being a dog whisperer or whatever. Don't ask a customer for chicken off their plate. Either way, the food was good. I got the top shelf fajita quesadillas and they were delicious! The menu is pretty pricey here though, the enchiladas were $16. My daughter got the kids chicken tenders. Kids meals are $7. I would come back but prob not with my dog. read more

30 people for dinner and what a fabulous experience it was!!!! Marcia has been there 26 years and you can tell why. She loves taking care of people and her staff pulls together, like a well oiled machine, to put on a special event. I talked with Marcia a few weeks before this wedding party and she went all out with decorations, special menu and such. It was delightful. The tortilla soup is one of my absolute favorite meals anywhere. However, I ordered my meal as a call ahead take-out. Food was great but service was bad. When I called to tell the restaurant that I was there to pick up the order, I waited 20 minutes before I called back. The hostess told me that everyone was too busy to deliver the food to my car. This is a nice restaurant and so much did I want to love this restaurant and make it my new neighborhood go to. We were sat in the bar. The server was the bartender. 1- I didn't get what I ordered. I didn't say anything because she didn't come and check on us. The food I received tasted overly processed. The QUESO tasted super salty. 2- when we got our bill it was fine but when I paid for it on the POS machine I was overcharged $8.00+. She should have noticed there were additional charges. It felt very calculated and she never let me see the screen before I checked out. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be back. Better than your average Mexican chain restaurant. The meals are a little pricey, but the portion sizes make up for it. The loaded nachos($14) say they feed 3-4, and the 6 people at my table couldn't finish it. I also got the fajita steak enchiladas, and I was disappointed because it was so delicious, but I was too full of nachos to eat much of it. Great flavor, well cooked, not too greasy. They are dog friendly and have outdoor dining available. I ordered the Old Fashioned Tacos and my daughter ordered Mama's Favorite Tacos. They were very similar with the exception of guacamole and sour cream. Both tasted delicious and were served with moist meat that was flavorful. Our waitress was Carla and she was pretty bueno. Except for her pouring a soda all over my son without even realizing she had the glass tipped over. And nothing was taken​ off the bill to make up for it. Getting a​ table seemed harder then it should have been and the manager working the floor was the problem. We sat and ordered. They really pushed the​ queso so we got the white..... it was horrible. Like white water. NO real flavor and would not even stick to the chips it was so runny. YUCK. Our entrees​ came out together and it was good to see another server expedite​. The chimichanga​ was good but the cheese dip soaked into the tortilla bowl. The quesadilla​ was ordered no sour cream. They scraped it off. My burrito​ was tepid, The cheese on top was not even melted...should have been clue one. The contents were just warm. Not even close to being hot. Sanitized and Social Distanced, we felt very comfortable within. We sat near the bar, which was closed, so that helped even more. My son ordered the Tres Banditos, which consists of a burrito filled with beef and topped with queso, a chicken burrito topped with sour cream sauce & a bean burrito topped with chili. With rice & refried beans. He really enjoyed his selection, and that's coming from a 23 year old eating machine! LOL I got the Mama's Sampler. That is a cheese & onion enchilada and two tamales topped with chili con carne, a Chile Relleno with ranchera sauce & a crispy beef taco. With rice & refried beans. All of it was very good, but I especially liked the Chile Relleno! Perfectly coated and cooked to a light brown on the outside, the thrill is watching that white ooey gooey Mexican cheese spill out like hot lava...Oh YES! This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Brevard for the consistent high quality food and service. They seem to always be the right amount of busy -- packed enough to remind you people love it but not too much where it becomes a zoo. A very nicely themed place to have a meal. The fajitas are massive and incredible (I recommend the mushroom chicken). The taco salad is approximately the size of Montana. The tableside guac is epically fresh and delicious. Great service, the food was well seasoned. I ordered a enchilada/fajita combo with refried beans and Mexican rice. It was delicious and filled with onions, peppers and tomatoes with a sour cream sauce and l ordered a side a guacamole, hmmm very tasty meal. The enchilada had onions and cheese, the fajita had chicken and the rest of the goodies in it. The decor of the restaurant was fabulous. I promise to take pictures next time l go. I've visited this Mexican restaurant on several occasions, from lunch to dinner or just drinks. I'll detail them below. During lunch, the service has been very fast. They do offer a scaled down lunch menu, which is great because most of the businesses in the area don't offer afternoon siestas. I usually go with something from the numbered section. The Seis is my favorite, which is chicken enchilada, rice and beans. They do offer an "All You Can Eat Mucho Lunch" which I have not been brave enough to order. One of my friends did order it (yes, I have friends, don't laugh), he seemed pretty satisfied after finishing it. Overall dinner service has been good. There were a couple of times when I felt the order took too long or maybe the waiter/waitress had been around enough, but nothing bad enough to where I'd stop coming here. The dinner portions are pretty large. My favorite is the Chicken Grande Burrito (see pic I posted earlier). One time I tried the Chicken Fajita Chimichanga, I did not enjoy it. It was way too oily for me and I only ate about half of it. This is good because it didn't agree with my stomach for the rest of the night. If you have room after your meal, I'd highly recommend the fried ice cream. I've also been there after work for drinks with friends (are you still laughing that I actually have friends). You can't go wrong with the Ultimate Margarita or the Durango Daiquiris. read more

She also was not too busy , and she walked by our table multiple times and didn't stop by .This place had potential to be good but the food really disappointed me .
