Michael M.

So yesterday I experienced Tijuana Flats in a new location in Viera. It happened to be taco tuesday which clearly means the place was slammed. I waited in line while I enjoyed the decor of the place. The staff member that took my order was very friendly but the place was so loud she pretty much had to shout at me while taking my order. I couldn't believe that they charge for salsa here. Every mexican joint gives it away with chips but here they charge, ridiculous!!! I got my drink and off we went to find a table which proved to be quite challenging but after about 15 minutes we found a table. It took an ungodly amount of time to get out food. I guess taco tuesday is just so crazy that they can really handle the orders. Finally our food came and the tacos were good but the chimichanga was a absolute joke. It wasn't crispy at all and lacked just about any flavor. Aldo the beand and ruce come in these tiny little containers. More of a sample than a side. Oh and that salsa you have to PAY for, well lets just say many store bought brands are much better. Absolutely no flavor or even a touch of heat. If your gonna make someone oay for domething like salsa please make it decent. Getting a refill in this place is a pain in the neck. It would be so much better to have a drink station available to customers but clearly they weren't thinking. Lastly I sampled the churro. It was ok not bad at all but not great either. Seems to be the motto of this place. So the good and the bad. Good- Taco churro friendly staff Bad- Location too small for traffic Chimichanga sucked Staff yelling in my face Loud Tasteless salsa you have to pay for Tiny sides Refills a pain No soda fountain accessible to customers If you like good mexican food as I do give Franciscos and El Charro a try. Way better food and experience. You get what you pay for in the restaurant world. Cheap food means keep your expectations low.

It was cool.. tried to be stingy with chips after I ordered a large queso but they gave them to me. Other than that, it was good.

Food was horrible. No meat in the tacos and no cheese in the quesadillas. I was better off just going to Taco Bell!!!

We told her we love trying new things and asked for her recommendations, and she absolutely delivered. She helped us narrow everything down, and honestly, every single thing we ordered was so good. The pork belly al pastor, and the el queso shrimp bravo were all incredible. Super fun, unique dishes and the presentation made it even better. She had no idea we were in town for a funeral, but this ended up being such a needed pick-me-up for our family. The vibe, the food, and Sofi's energy just turned our whole night around. If you go, definitely ask for Sofi. She is the best.

Tijuana Flats falls into an interesting category of not fast food and not sit down. In 1995, Brian Wheeler--at the time, just a taco-loving college student--borrowed some money from his dad to open the first Tijuana Flats in Winter Park, Florida. It has since grown to 123 locations in four states, three of them in the Melbourne area. In addition to their quick casual food, they have a large assortment of fun hot sauces of varying intensities you can sample at the hot sauce bar. Find one you can't live without? You can purchase one or more bottles to bring home some heat and spice up your life. Jovi is our food facilitator, and she is wonderfully charming and helpful. If you are tired of burgers and want some exciting great tasting food, I'd advise you to try the following: Garlic Lime Shrimp Bowl with well-seasoned sauteed shrimp, cilantro lime rice (cooked correctly), black beans, poblano peppers and onions, corn salsa, garlic lime sauce, guac, queso fresco, cilantro cabbage and pickled red onions. A truly delightful offering. Cheesy Steak Flautas, two lightly fried tortillas with marinated steak, fajita pepper and onions, garlic lime sauce and cheese. Served with queso, pico, guac, sour cream, and jalapeños. A dish that was prepared quickly and tasted great. The Big Boy says, "Craving fast Mexican? Forget Taco Bell, run to Tijuana!"

El Chico Mexican Restaurant 1751 Evans Rd., Melbourne, FL 32904…read more 3 Stars (chain restaurant review) With origins dating back to a Texas county fair in 1926, El Chico Mexican Restaurant has been around for quite a while. In 1926, Alelaida "Mama" Cuellar's tamales were a massive hit at the county fair. Two years later, they opened their first restaurant in Kaufman, TX. The 11th opened in Six Flags Over Texas and is credited with introducing Mexican food to the American masses. In 1940, Mama Cuellar's children opened the first El Chico Cafe in Dallas, TX. Susan was my outstanding service professional for the meal. I asked Susan for an order of their Chorizo Tacos, a Grande Pollo Burrito and a side of chips and salsa. Susan brought my order out in no time and after snapping a few pics, I got to work. I always wonder if cooks smell the ingredients before they start using them OR do they smell them, realize they are not so fresh anymore, and think the dining public won't notice? Either way, this cook deserves strong jobation for this dish. The Chorizo meat was not good; it wasn't rancid, but if you opened the walk-in, I wouldn't be surprised if it was seen beating up the tomatoes as it was undoubtedly turning bad. Moving on to the Grande Pollo Burrito - the hero of this meal. Even though the chicken was a tad on the rubbery side (my guess is heated up in the microwave, but I could be wrong), the rice, beans and other fillings were excellent. While a bit chewy, the chicken was fajita-flavored and served with a beautiful chipotle wine sauce. The rice was cooked to perfection and the frijoles rancheros were succulently seasoned. If the chicken hadn't been nuked, it would have been fantastic. This brings me to what passed as chips and salsa in this cuchara grasosa. Please look at that pic and tell me that's not a cup of ketchup with a smattering of spice sprinkled in. It sure as Texas didn't taste like salsa. The chips were OK, but the salsa was not. Big Boy says, " 20 years ago, this was fantastic Tex-Mex. Today? Too much top-notch competition makes this yesterday's chimichangas."
