Francisco's Mexican Restaurant is a small Mexican restaurant located in a nondescript shopping plaza on Aurora Road just off of Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida. Walking in, I was warmly greeted and I will say the service is pretty stellar. I ordered the lunch Mexican burrito. It was just under fourteen dollars. A little steep, but dining out in general has jumped up quite a bit. The burrito was pretty good. I wish it was bigger, but it is what it is. My family of three throughly enjoyed our most recent visit. Little hidden restaurant that is worth the visit. We were quickly served chips and salsa and a bean dip of some sort. Soon after ordering we were lucky enough to be serenaded by a mariachi band! They even came directly to our table and took requests. Very special. We got the queso, fajitas for two with rice and kiddo got quesadilla and fries. Everything was so delicious. Surprisingly even the fries were perfect! Great service too. Francisco's Mexican Fresh-taurant! Dining a la carte tonight, that is, alone without my wingwoman Babelicious Fab Fiancée! When I'm forced to such extreme measures(LOL) I must ensure that every moment is valued and treasured. Each dining decision must count! Well, at least I should enjoy the meal and the moment, without having my exotic beauty to gaze upon.......and I found that at Francisco's! After reading the reviews, I felt confident I was in for a treat. Thanks fellow reviewers! It was 7:45 on a tepid autumn evening. Typically tropical. Slipping through the strip mall portal, I was immediately accepted and seated. I noted just a few other tables taken at this time. Lending to a nice, quiet, enjoyable solitude with forthcoming food.... Ah! That omnipresent Mexican delight of Chips & Salsa was presented for my nibbling titillation. And nibble I did! With great titillation! I found the holy grail of appetizing pleasure. The chips were perfectly crisp with just the right hint of salt and no greasy aftertaste. The salsa? I now realize how this humble onion, celantro and tomato treat could be co-named with a seductive and sultry dance....I could feel the beat, the compas... They also provide a small plate of refried beans to dredge your chips through. Interesting touch, I'm hooked! While tastebuds eagerly teased, I opted for the combo meal with 3 choices. My choices were a tamale, a burrito and a chimichanga. I was soon to discover, Excellent choices! Each tasty morsel provided a mouthful of pizzazz. Fresh ingredients cannot hide. Tex-Mex restaurants not only in Melbourne and Palm Bay, Florida, but anywhere in the United States are now a dime a dozen. Though delicious, it is not authentic Mexican food per se. That is why I love Francisco's Mexican Restaurant. They serve Tex-Mex but they alsoserve true authentic Mexican food, something that is rare here in Melbourne and Palm Bay, Florida. For those who don't know, real Mexican food is different from Tex-Mex as it lacks in a lot of sauces and cheese, and it uses more sour ingredients like lime, cilantro, and lemon. The assembly of such food is also simplistic in nature as it isn't "loaded" like Tex-Mex. Also, refried beans, guacamole, and sour creamare almost non-existent. Francisco's has options that utilize these details of authentic Mexican food. Located in the same shopping strip mall as Thrifty Produce and LA Fitness, it is easy to spot as it is close to The Egg & I and Smoothie King. Upon entering, you'll notice the place is simplistic in nature. It is along with the restroom clean. For this visit, I went with my friend Patrick. We ordered numerous dishes to try out but stuck with the lunch specials. I got the burrito, taco, and tostado combo. He got the chimichanga as he is a Deadpool fan. Nevertheless, the food was good and piled high to the brim, kind of like Fiesta Azteca back in the day. Through take-out, I tried the authentic Mexican and it is truly authentic. Sourness and bitterness are flavors you can taste in the food and it isn't overpowered by sauces and cheese. All and all, a worthwhile meal south of the border. Ultimately, I will give this place five out of five stars. It has great service, great food, and the place is clean. I am sure there are times when the experience is lacking but I won't fault the restaurant for that as no place, even five star places, are perfect everytime, all the time. read more

As being new to town I am now in search of a new go to Mexican restaurant. I saw good reviews for Francisco's so I thought let's give it a try. For now I'm going with 4 stars and I'll explain why...service was very good greeted at the door when we walked in seated quickly and all the staff were very friendly and nice so for customers service I'd say 5 stars. I went with the large combination plate which is a choice of 3 items from a choice of around 7 or so, I went with chili Reno chimichanga and tostada. The serving size was large and very fair for the price. The food tasted fresh and was good but.... There was nothing that stood out to me as wow! This was great! For me it was average but I didn't get that wow factor. In all fairness I did try basic items so I will go back soon and try something a little more non-basic and up date my review then. I have tried this twice because of the reviews. Both times the service was awful. Poor management. The first time I got fajitas that tasted like roast beef slopped on a plate very weak margaritas, and the second time I got Chile Riano's that were wrapped in a corn tortilla with chopped up chilies. Awful. I will not go back to see if the third time is a charm because they are very over priced and when I am wanting Mexican food I would like Mexican food. Never again, and I strongly suggest you go somewhere else. When I was a boy I would go to my fathers restaurant in Los Angeles which served the best Mexican food I have ate in a restaurant to date. The women in my family made the best Mexican food I have ever ate, had to give them props. Since birth I have had incredible Mexican food here in the states and all over Mexico. I would say that I probably know what I'm talking about when it comes to Mexican food, yes tooting my own horn, but heck, why not. I go to Francisco's often, mostly for lunch. One big reason I like this restaurant is because it is the only one in the area which serves Horchata. Now for you that know about Horchata and love it as much as I do you know there is good Horchata and bad Horchata. Here the Horchata is great. The food is very good and you will find many familiar dishes here with some very tasty authentic dishes too. They just added some more dishes recently. The tacos authentico is to die for. Today I got an enchilda, taco, and chile relleno. All were very good especially the relleno which most restaurants in the area don't do very well at all. The staff is superb and very attentive with ordering and refills. When you are looking for a good Mexican lunch or dinner, skip the chain restaurants in town and go for Francisco's. read more

Rice and beans are pretty authentic. Made from scratch daily (from what I was told). Chicken mole is super weak. It tasted like enchilada sauce, not mole. The chicken enchiladas didn't have sauce on them at all. Given that, they still tasted good. I was expecting authentic Mexican, but this was far from it. However, food was still good, customer service was good. The inside of the restaurant is cute. Plus they serve Jamaica and horchata, which I haven't seen anywhere else in brevard county. read more

I've been on a total Mexican kick lately, getting to be as bad as Starbucks. While in Melbourne FL, decided to make a second round visit to Francisco's right on Wickham. Once again did not regret, great trip. Small quaint family owned and operated restaurant, Francisco himself actually waited on us. His wife I believe is also on the floor helping customers and grandpa gets up from time to time to make rounds to see if you need anything else..it's fun to experience. Last visit I ordered the carnitas and it delivered spot on to what I was looking for. Crisp and most, it's simple stuff but hard to get just right and they did. This time I decided on the carne asada. Nice size cut of skirt steak, well marinated and cooked, topped of with a roasted jalapeno (nice touch). It came with rice, beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. They were all tasty, well cooked and well appreciated. It wasn't spicy but the flavor was all there. Went well with the side of flour tortillas (got a half-dozen). I'm always a sucker for flan and got to finally try theirs. To me great flan is somewhere between firm and jiggly in texture. If it's too firm it's almost like cheesecake vs. a custard and too soft it just falls apart. This one was right in the middle. It was terrific. The entire meal of entree, side of tortillas and dessert came under $16 which was a bonus, I would have paid more. This place is now on my list of return spots in Melbourne for Mexican. First the chips and salsa was amazing! They gave us a little plate of bean dip and with the salsa it was so good! I really enjoyed the "hot" salsa. It was very tasty and not too hot. I had a combo plate with tamale, taco and tostada. Everything was super hot and delicious! Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals as well. I would recommend this immediately and come back. We'll try it again although the enchilada's didn't have sauce on them, nor did the burrito I ordered, even though it was listed in the description. The enchilada sauce they brought us when asked, was delicious. The salsa was really tasty and our drinks on point. My son said it was the littlest Chimichunga he's ever seen, Lol, But the chicken had great flavor. When we heated up the sauced up leftovers the next night, our meals were so good!!
