This place is an okay restaurant. The inside atmosphere is very relaxed. The staff is really nice and friendly. However the food was mid. I was not a fan of the flavor of the salsa and the queso was really watery. I ordered the veggie fajitas and they were good, but nothing to rave about. We used to live this place, however since they gave us our check and then change the price after we handed them our debit card. We will not be going back there any longer. They gave us our bill and we reviewed it. After we went up there and handed them our debit card. They ran it through but then when we got home, I looked at the receipt and noticed that the prices had changed. It went up $11 from the time we first looked at it until we noticed it when we got home. The food isn't really that great anymore and the service is terrible so with all that being said, I would not recommend it to anyone. Great food, good prices. The takeout execution is a little sloppy with refried beans running around the styrofoam container....would probably put those in a separate container. I've eaten in person here, too....very good service and some of the most delicious pico de gallo type salsa I've ever had--has a really nice kick. **OVERALL REVIEW OF PAST THREE VISITS** I have been slacking in keeping up-to-date with my reviews of Mexican food restaurants, but it is because I eat at so many of them, and many of them are a dime a dozen. Ergo, many of the mom-and-pops remain four stars, and many of the chains remain three. However, they are starting to bleed into one another, so they are averaging out. As a result of this revelation, I purposely avoid Mexican restaurants if I can. However, friends and family may have a hankering for the specific culture of food, and I often go. I must stress that the food is good, but since it seems, on average, it's not hard to mess up. A professional or experienced cook or chef of Mexican food must try really hard to mess it up. What is a Mexican food restaurant to do if all of them are generally good to the point it is the average? The answer: stand out with food that is authentically creative and delicious. That is what El Indio in Melbourne, FL does. I have been to this restaurant three times, and their food is by far the best when it comes to Mexican food here on the Space Coast (so far). They do have all the general foods that every other Mexican restaurant serves, and just like them, they are good, excellent even. If it were just that, then they'd be on the high end of average. Where El Indio stands out is their unique menu of dishes, which includes their signature El Indio plate. You'll know which page in the menu it is as the upper-right dish is their signature El Indio plate, and all their signature dishes are featured and displayed so you kind of know what you are getting. Definitely want to get the fried fish and seafood Mexican dishes one day. On top of that, they have alcoholic drinks, American dishes for those who may want them (like burgers and fries), and are associated with all the food delivery services like Doordash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. You can get their food anytime you want. Probably the overall surprise with their food is the price. Compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, or anywhere I've been to so far, they are on the cheaper end of the price. Almost every dish is less than $15, and you get a lot of food, too. For my fellow Yelpers who live on the Space Coast and eat a lot of Mexican food, imagine how Fiesta Azteca used to be back in the late 90s, early 2000s? That is the sheer amount of food you get with El Indio. And since this is a review of the past three visits, each one was excellent, so El Indio is also consistent. I expect that with inflation, some of the prices will go up, but the food is well-worth and an inflated price within understanding. read more

This was my first time at El Indio and boy did it not disappoint ! The food was absolutely amazing! We got the queso dip to start. So creamy and delicious. My college age son ordered 5 different types of tacos and inhaled them; they were so tasty. I got the skirt steak that was cooked at a perfect temperature along with the most enjoyable rice and beans! Will definitely be returning when I can ! Visit here!!! And enjoy ! read more

Six stars! One of the best Mexican places I've ever been to. It seems to be family-run, and all the staff were very friendly. We mentioned it was my son's 11th birthday as we were ordering, and at the end of the meal, they brought a complimentary fried ice cream for him and sang "Happy Birthday" to him as he wore a sombrero. Ole! The decor is cheesy but cute, and the food is muy delicioso! My husband got the steak fajitas grilled and seasoned to perfection. I had a unique dish I had never tasted before--enchiladas filled with lightly cooked spinach, onions and tomatoes, topped with verde sauce, smothered in cheese and served with refried beans and Mexican rice. Their chunky guacamole had pieces of cilantro and a sour cream flavor to it. The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa had a spicy bite to it. I think I found my local Mexican food place. I've lived in the area over three years but I lived in Mexico a few years before Covid. I'm very picky about the food and so far no one else had even hit the low bar. I'm talking Taco Bell or Del Taco was better! And then I had a gift card from Grubhub and decided this look good. I can't begin to tell you how fabulous this was! I had a three taco platter and it did not disappoint! When my order arrived the tortillas, wrapped in aluminum were almost nuclear or hot! There was a generous amount of meat and the sides as well as rice and beans. It actually was enough for two people! There was so much of the meat that I could've had at least 2 to 3 more Corn tortillas for it. They included chips and salsa at no additional charge - which lately restaurants are charging for it. Their salsa had a nice, surprising kick; I'm not afraid of spicy and this was a welcome surprise. Their chips were obviously made fresh and a crispy delight which I also used with the beans and rice. My stepmom introduced me to this place because it is her favorite Mexican restaurant. Being from Texas, I am used to eating really good Texmex. Coming here, most of the texmex restaurants aren't that good. Food is bland and doesn't really taste good. Except for El Indio! Food is super delicious. Everyone is so nice every time we come. This is a very strange review because I can see where some good is here but we had a not-so-good experience dining there tonight. The place is quaint and not overly busy. We were greeted and sat at our table. We ordered drinks and they brought our chips and salsa which were good. We never received our drinks. We asked again for the drinks when the food arrived but it never came. The food was a lot! Price was cheap. However the food wasn't seasoned much if at all. Very bland. If you're looking for upscale dining, this isn't the place, however, if it's good food, then this is it. This place reminds me of some of the eateries I've been to in Mexico, which is a good thing! The background music really adds to this place too. The waitstaff were friendly and service was fast. The food was beyond my expectations! On a business trip to Melbourne, the Hotel does not serve lunch. So off to the next door mall and into El Indio. Amazingly tender Carnitas. The chips and sauce were home made. This is very good Mexican and I will try to eat here again before I catch a plane on Thursday. I had the Burrito Verde de Cerdo. Super moist, the seasoning was very close to Mexico City where I always go to the local street carts for the best food. In town and asked the locals for the best Mexican food, everyone agreed El Indio was the place to go. It's located in a little plaza but feels almost like a hole in the wall. The food is average, however, we stopped in for lunch. Although we were seated, it took quite some time to place an order. Several Melbourne Police Officer arrived for lunch. Someone than took our order. However we again waited for our orders. However, the restaurant set aside our and I am sure other customers orders, in order to provide to the police officers. I became quite frustrated and decided to leave. I decided to pay despite that I hadn't eaten. What topped the incident, is that the Melbourne polices chuckled, at my frustration. Of course, the officers were content, they had their lunch. Hearing the officers chuckle was more than irritating.
