Im new to the area, been hard finding edible food anywhere. Service was meh, I tried to be lighthearted and see if there was any sense of humor, but to no avail, just dead fish stares. Ok, I guess ill try a burrito, so I ordered one togo. Don't remember the name of it, but it was on their specials burrito menu. I chose the wet burrito, and when I say if chef boyardee made a burrito in a can, this would be it and that would probably be better than what i got. I don't think they use one ingredient that isn't pre-made, I got chips that was kind of the best part, but surprise! No salsa. Luckily I have some ingredients on hand so I literally made a salsa with habanero and mango, so in the end, I put in more effort into this order than they did. read more

SCW and I stopped into Big Island Burrito as our usual burrito restaurant in Melbourne beach moved to a different location. The locals have recommended them in the past and it was near where we were taking a quick getaway. The service was great. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed. We were more interested in takeout which they do and we got menus at the counter. As vegetarians I was a bit disappointed to find that they only had one burrito listed as vegetarian. The rest of the offerings all had some sort of meat as the protein source. I really wanted a bowl but got the vegetarian burrito instead as it seemed like that was the only option for my dietary needs. Maybe offer black beans? Any beans? Tofu? Just veggies as options in the bowls/nachos/tacos. Maybe they do but it wasn't very apparent. So again, minus the star for that. The interior was nicely decorated with lots of art, drawings and interesting posters. The veggie burrito was very good. Flavorful and filling. Certainly a generous sized portion. The staff are outstanding, several times we were offered water/drinks while we waited and they were incredibly kind. Our takeout took less than 10 minutes to get. read more

I truly enjoy BIB! I had the Cabo burrito with Sharon's sauce. The sauce is so good! The burrito is the perfect soft texture. I am a home made chip person or from tortillas and not a fan of the Tostito style chips, so the chips are the one thing that I would say could use an upgrade. So we decided to try this place out. Have been driving by for years. Glad we did. We ordered two extreme burritos. A Beach Bum. The chicken was very well seasoned. The next one was a custom one with Barbacoa Beef, black beans and queso on top. Our servers were very attentive and friendly. No rushing us out the door nor abandonment of us. It is a no frills seating arrangement with booths and picnic tables. This was a great surprise. And we will be back. PRO TIP. No WiFi but the pizza joint next door does. Strong signal. I was looking for a Mexican brunch on Sunday and found this place. Friendly greeting when I walked in and chill music playing in the background. The special Sunday menu was just what I was looking for. It has a nice beach bar feel to it that transports you away from the old strip mall location outside. I got the extreme breakfast burrito and chose bacon as the meat. It came with a side of sausage gravy, which throws a southern spin on a Mexican concept. We walked inside two other restaurants (and straight back out!) before seeing the sign for BIB from the road, and decided to see if it would work for our family. Jackpot. Their Burritos are AMAZING! I had the Cubano and I didn't expect so much flavor from my first bite. A Super Heavy nicely stuffed burrito served in a delicious black bean sauce topped with a deliciously fresh pico de gayo. Never a rushed-out experience as the staff is incredibly friendly, the vibe is relaxing and their Taco Tuesday will be etched in my weekly calendar thanks to their taco (also super yum) and drink specials. A nice place with a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy delicious tacos and burritos. We came here after a beach day wanting a quick eat and this place hit the spot. We got blackened mahi tacos and a steak burrito and both were very good. The best part was all the sauces that we got to try with our meal. It definitely made the food taste better and made it a fun experience. The service was really fast and our waitress was nice. It was a relaxing atmosphere and we felt like we could sit there and socialize even after we were done with our food. We will definitely come back here again when we are in the area. read more

After trying other burrito places we have voted this restaurant as the BEST one in our family. Didn't use the online ordering as I wanted my burrito without the rice and the app only allowed add-ons so I hope they can get their software updated in the future. So we called in our order instead and it was ready on time for our pickup time. The boxes were marked so no confusion on who had what burrito. Nice detail that all other places should be doing. Parking can be a little tight but manageable. The place was hopping and had several large screen TVs running at the bar. Lots of families plus couples and single people. Place appeared well lit and clean inside. Staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The food transported well in the car and was still very warm back at home. Burrito was wrapped perfectly so none of the contents fell out and no liquid pooled at either end which is a sign of quality work in my book. Portion was large enough that I ate only half and finished the rest the following day. The leftovers held up very nicely and again no liquid leaks or unravelling. Can't say enough about Big Island. A restaurant that puts out a great product and a great experience all around. read more

The food doesn't match the photos. Me and my wife went and ordered 2 burritos, 2 drinks and chips and salsa +$80.00. The burrito my wife ordered had no flavor. I ordered the surf and turf burrito, mine tasted OK but we both ordered xtreme burritos, mine was small and my wife's was huge (all flavorless rice). My wife also asked for sour cream (at charge but not in burrito) and avocado (at charge but also not in burrito) and asked no Pico de Gallo in burrito, they put it. We asked them to take off charges for sour cream and avocado and bill was like $83-$86. Chips and salsa were pre made out of jar/bagged I believe tostitos. read more

I was contemplating giving Big Island Burrito just three stars but decided to give it four based off the 15 years of good to great dining experiences I have had with my family. First, the team members are really nice and accommodating. We had a party of seven and they allowed us to pull up a chair so we didn't need to be at two tables. The waitress, Candy, helped us figure out all of our questions and was super attentive. Here's where it gets slightly less wonderful... The dining room was almost empty and it took over an hour to get two bowls, four burritos, and shrimp tacos. While the food was okay (with some people super happy with what they ordered), everything was almost cold and it wasn't as good as previous visits. At the one hour mark a member of our party went to check on the progress of the food and they did give us complementary chips and salsa. While chips and salsa used to be free a few years ago, it was a nice gesture that we all appreciated. While I would recommend Big Island Burrito I'm not sure we will choose to go there over somewhere new in the future. read more

Not to many great options for a good burrito in Melbourne so stopped Big Island because it was on my way. Right off the top you have to wait an unacceptable amount of time for your food. My and my kids asked for the Sharon's sauce, but the taste was horrible. The food was bland and just passed as being edible. I'd recommend that you pop into Publix right next store and buy the ingredients to cook up your own burrito. Save yourself some time and your taste buds. read more

Picked up a blackened mahi extreme burrito. Was decent. Was somewhat disappointed with the taste. I know I got fish as my choice of meat but the burrito had a bit of that "fishy" flavor?
