We Sat at the bar close to the end of happy hour for a small dinner. We Got a couple of the patron margaritas they were quite large but good. The chips were delicious and went great with the queso and salsa. My husband loves spicy stuff so they brought him a few different spicy sauces to try and he liked them all. We shared the Arracherra which was okay a bit overdone so was hard to cut and chew. The rice and beans were good just basic rice and beans. Not a ton of flavor in this dish. They service was good and the place had plenty of seating and a good sized bar area. read more

Think this place has potential for me, so I'm going with 4 stars, though the food is more 3.5. I will say that this was the most AFFORDABLE Mexican meal I've had out (short of going to Moe's or Tijuana Flats). You get a ton of food for a really good price! I had a huge combo plate with a taco, burrito, and enchilada all melted under (too much) cheese....everything kinda melted together which is typically my jam. It smells great upon entry, but it was quite warm with the air conditioning set low, and a bit of stickiness on the bathroom floor. The Al Pastor quesadilla had a GREAT flavor, with the beans & rice above average, chips were warm and salty and the salsa needed a little more of a chill, but had a nice kick to it. Has potential! Again, pleasantly surprised with the affordable pricing for a decent sized meal in this economy, especially so close to Beachside. read more

Favorite Mexican food by far in the area! We have been 3 times so far I have ordered: the fajitas, the chilaquiles and tacos- all have been amazing! Great service, great food and great margaritas! All in a very laid back atmosphere right across the street from the beach. Already looking forward to the next time we come back! read more

The interior is very dark. The food lacks flavor and is not hot. It has to be sent back and then reheated in the microwave. Service is fine. They are all very nice yet I feel like they do not understand their food needs to better. read more

I really enjoyed this lil place. The smiles and the number of seats filled was a good sign. The Margaritas and appetizers, good start. Atmosphere you'll forget you are on A1A for a lil while. I enjoyed my meal. Carnitas tender full of flavor. Beans fresh and homemade w peppers and onions , mole STFU. Bonus desert, I'll need a nap. read more

New Mexican place. Note I did not say TexMex And it certainly is not sit down Taco Bell. They have remodeled the interior and are still working on the decor. A bit noisy so some sound panel or painting on the walls to break up the sound would help. Soft opening. Still working through the kinks as to be expected. But we need this place to survive. We need options beachside so please give this place a shot. Family owned and operated. The staff wants to please. That is nice 50 of the battle. We had fajita burrito which was pretty good my pallets was a little off so I had my wife taste the chicken. She said it was tasty. She order up a chimichanga and she said the shredded sneed was excellent. Having a shredded beef option in straw dog ground beef is a big plus. We had the guacamole app and it was good and home made. Not too oniony. A little less "green" then I would have expected and I am not sure why. Home made so it was definitely fresh. Pro tip1 only place you will find home made tortillas when you order up their tacos. The chips and salsa come with homemade chips too. Such a difference. Some may say we have enough Mexican places to eat beachside. Competition is good as all will up their game. Support them. I will. read more

They were very accommodating to our group of 19! The staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Our group love the tacos, enchiladas, and chimichangas. The queso was a hit too! For desert we had churros, fried ice cream and sopapillas. No one complained except some of the bigger kids wished they had ordered more tacos. The restaurant was quiet when we were there but decorated nicely with butterflies. read more

I'm from Texas and love Tex-Mex food and culture. This is our second visit, and as neither visit has been great we will not come back until a change. On both visits, the service was good (not amazing, but good). That's not the issue. The brunch menu has been scaled down, and they no longer have omelets. But you wouldn't know that because Yelp doesn't show anything more current and they don't have a website. The brunch used to be twice the size and was much more impressive. Maybe they scaled back because traffic didn't support the menu. In that case, I'd argue it's the ambiance. The side patio (the only covered area), is small and awkward. Probably great at night when you're drinking. But during the day for brunch or lunch there's just not much to see and the space is cramped. There's an amazing front area with sand and 3 picnic tables, but no one would want to sit there without shade. All that is needed is a corrugated patio ceiling or a canvas patio cover, and you'd have a great place that people would actually want to come to. As is, there's nothing fun about the outside. The food is okay for Tex-Mex. I'd give it a 4 for Florida standards, but a 3 by Texas standards. Salsa doesn't taste homemade. Chillaquiiles were actually on point. Went with the red sauce and it had some heat! Breakfast burrito was so stuffed with soft potatoes, it just tasted like a mashed potato burrito. Bummed about the sad side building vibes, smaller brunch menu, and bad salsa. I wish this could be our new weekend brunch or dinner spot, but no. Needs a major exterior overhaul for that. You can't have a successful restaurant in Florida with a cruddy patio. read more

There are quite a few Mexican restaurants on the beach and I've tried them all. I think this place is the best. Bright and cozy inside. A nice little bar with quite a few happy hour specials. I've had the tacos all varieties. All good. On fresh made tortillas. Today I had the traditional wet burrito with barbacoa. It was very delicious and because it was the special of the day it was only $10. I lot of food for a fair price. My wife commented that everything just tasted fresh. The tortilla chips were warm, the salsa was good and fresh, I asked for a spicier version and they brought me one that cleared my sinuses! Hot but flavorful too! I came once before for breakfast and that was good too. I had a dish that was like a Mexican version of eggs benny. Corn cakes with carnitas, poached eggs and a chipotle hollandaise sauce. Also just excellent. read more

Not sure why it took so long for us to try it since we live right down the street but we're really glad we finally did. The food was very fresh tasting, and tasted like everything was from scratch. My only complaint was that a lot of the shrimp in the cerviche were still raw. I love cerviche but not raw shrimp. The service could have been a little better but it wasn't terrible. Will definitely go back. read more

3.5 I'll be giving this a break & going back to my usual Tequila Azul by the mall. My experience tonight wasn't great. I had to ask the server for everything. I never got corn tortillas. I ordered the garlic shrimp but he brought me Diablo. I purposely went back to try something different. My son noticed this time & last time that the floor wasn't clean. On a good note, they got right no cheese on my beans. read more

Chili Colorado is still outta this world & my favorite menu item. It can't be beat - I don't know how they slow roast beef chunks that long to such tender juicy bites in a rich dark sauce for the price. And then fill the plate with refried beans, rice & a fabulous fresh, crispy "salad" to add to your corn tortillas. Don't forget the fresh made chips & salsa!! Yumma, a go to every week or so read more

Not my favorite Mexican place, but I would go back for the tamales, especially at Christmas time when they will have more than chicken. The tamale sauce was on point with one of the best flavors. The margaritas were so good and I really do not get a margarita that often. The enchiladas were OK. I found the red sauce to be a lot mild and watery. The green sauce on the spinach enchilada has more flavor. The pork quesidalla was good and they will put pineapple on it if you want. The nachos were fine but the chips could have been fresher read more

Phenomenal authentic Mexican Food. Great service, very attentive. Generous portions, the complimentary tortilla chips were warm & delicious as was the salsa. They fill you back up when things get low before you have a chance to ask. The fajitas were warm and delicious and tasted really fresh. The spinach enchiladas were very yummy. Best, most authentic Mexican we've had in a very long time. Great Family Owners. Gottaa definitely give this place a try! read more

Not sure what happened, maybe new cooks, but from the time they opened to now, the food is different. Their guacamole used to be the best in town. Thick, creamy, fresh, the last two visits, it reminded me of what comes out of a container from the grocery store. The salsa - an entire bowl had maybe 1 Tbsp. of chopped onions, etc, the rest, tomato sauce. One of our dishes had no seasoning, no taste. A couple of other things, but I think that's enough to share. We noticed it last visit, then returned for one more chance, hoping that it was an off night. We wish them luck and hope they can get things back to what they were. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night around 6pm. We have struggled to find good, authentic Mexican food and have overall been disappointed by what we've had so far in the area but decided to give this place a try. Service was okay. When we arrived three employees were chatting at the host stand and took a few seconds for them to acknowledge/seat us. We didn't get his name, but our server was a young man who seemed nice but not the most attentive. It was a pretty slow seeming night for them, so it was a bummer that he never refilled my empty water, or really checked in on us after getting our order. We received chips and salsa right away. Both were warm but only okay. Food came out very fast and the food runner offered to refill our drinks, which we appreciated. My husband got a carnitas Gordita and I got the wet shredded beef burrito. The meats were very good and tender. My husband said the outside of the Gordita tasted very homemade but he was not overly impressed with the fillings, nor would he get it again. I enjoyed my burrito and the sauce was very tasty. The rice and beans were bland. Overall things were fine, but we would not hurry back. read more

Finally! I found it! A Mexican restaurant that is close to what I get back home in California. My heart is so happy! Just an FYI, this is not Tex-Mex. The resraurant is family owned and they are from Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. Las Monarcas on A1A in Satellite Beach. First, when you walk in, you are greeted warmly by any one of the family members who take you to your table. I'm posting the menu in case any one wants to see what they have. Our server, Maria, got our drinks and gave us the appropriate time to choose our meal. After ordering, she checked on us to see if we needed anything and offered to refill our drinks. The food didn't take long at all! When it came out.....wow. Now tell me, when was the last time you went to a Mexican restaurant that gave you home made fresh tortillas? I know around here, I haven't found a place. My dinner entrée (chile verde) came with 3 fresh corn tortillas, a large portion of meat, beans, Mexican rice and a side of guacamole. I also ordered a barbacoa taco. My husband ordered a carnitas torta and a carne asada taco on the side. The torta came with an authentic bolillo (special bread used for tortas). I've had tortas around here and they use a hoagie roll or cuban bread. I was so happy with the whole experience that we're going back this Friday to try their coctel de camaron (shrimp cocktail) and ceviche. Yum! We had an awesome conversation with the chef and our server (they're siblings) and they have huge plns fo this place. Please consider supporting their restaurant. Right now they are doing a soft opening. They mentioned that the grand opening will be in two weeks. Still, head over. They are an awesome family with great food. P.S. They have a HUGE mural of a butterfly on the side of the building, it's an awesome photo op! read more

Wow! We tried La Monarcas tonight for the first time. Our excellent service started with chips and salsa. We ordered horchata, which was deliciously cinnamony as expected. The shrimp ceviche was flavorful and plentiful. Their freshly house made tortillas served with butter were reminiscent of Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks - yum! Next we enjoyed well-seasoned vegetable fajitas and Monarcas Molcajete LOADED with pork, shrimp, steak, chicken, chorizo, peppers, and onions. Both dinners came with rice, refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo and choice of flour or corn tortillas. We'll be enjoying our leftovers for days. First visit. Will not return. First the drink; suppose to be a spicy Margarita. It was not only not spicy, it was the worse I've ever had. Tasted like dirty water, & had only two slices of jalapeño on top. Ick! Fish tacos were said to have Mahi fish in them. It was definitely not Mahi. Two of the tiniest taco's I've ever seen. Only had fish & cilantro laying on top of a very small tortilla. There was no flavor other than the juice from an old lime wedge on my plate. Tacos were $4.75 each. No sides came with them. Tacos & Margarita came in, before tax, at $21.00. It was a Friday night & the place was empty. I should have walked out then, before ordering! read more

Great food, incredible service, the perfect Mexican place for satellite beach. 10/10 would recommend, don't let this place close!!

A very nice Mexican restaurant by the beach for Nick This restaurant is located on the west side of A1A just north of Cassia Boulevard. There is parking around 3 sides of the structure. The evening that we went there the parking lot was full so parking may be a challenge on busy days. The structure is newly painted with pictures of Butterflies along the walls outside following the Monarchas name. There is a beach-like area and deck in front of the restaurant with some seating. The entrance is on the east side closest to the beach. There is a hostess stand where we were greeted and taken to our table. The tables are a mixture of booths, short tables, high tables, and a small bar. They were busy but we were taken care of in a very reasonable amount of time. They have a large menu with many items. Chips and salsa were brought while we waited for our food. I ordered chicken fajitas and my partner ordered a beef taco salad. Both came within about 10 minutes. The taco salad had a large portion of beef and my fajitas came on a skillet still sizzling. The one suggestion to improve the fajita dish would be to provide more shells than the 3 provided when serving the dish. Still, it was a delicious dish. Both meals were excellent and the staff was friendly and professional. The price for 2 dishes (large servings) and drinks was $35. Overall it was a very nice experience and I would recommend this place to fellow travelers. read more

Las Monarcas did a solid job renovating a space that previously housed Sun on the Beach and Bunky's. Before the renovation the space was very dark and the bathrooms were sad. New lighting and new flooring have improved the space. The bathroom is improved but the men's room has no mirror in front of the sink a glaring and obvious omission. We started with Guacamole and Chips ($9.95) a little on the pricy side but the portion is pretty huge and the chips are homemade. It was fine but not amazing. I would skip this next time. I would give the guac a "B". The Chicken Mole has a sauce made from scratch. It was a homerun. The chicken was tender which for chicken breast can be tricky. The sauce had just enough heat that the chocolate and seasonings come through. This portion was large enough for dinner or at lunch would justify bringing some home. Chicken Mole A+. We tried a a pork taco (al pastor) streak, and chicken. Their tacos are have high quality meats with adequate portions. These are not Tex mex style, no tomatoes, lettuce, or cheddar here because it is not Taco Bell. Tacos come with onions and cilantro. If you have been to La Preferinda on Aurora you know the drill. Chicken Taco A-, pork taco A. For desert we tried the churros. Their churros are stuffed with Carmel on the inside. I prefer a traditional churro. I felt the center of the churro where next to the sauce was underdone. I miss the traditional churro shape. I like to control how sweet my churro is and stuffed with Carmel means I can't. The stuffed churro is just trying to hard and missing badly. Please replace this with regular churros. Churro "C-." We will definitely be back. read more
