Avocado toast
Vicki S.

Run down old style diner. Tables were sticky. We ordered the avocado toast and chicken fried steak bowl. The bowl was actually tasty but my avocado toast - not so much. Worse. Avocado toast. EVER! It looked like old turning brown guacamole spread on toast with chopped tomato, onion, bacon and feta sprinkled on top. Definitely not like any avocado toast I've had before. I asked for extra butter on my grits and they were served swimming in yellow oil. Also not a fan of seeing political t-shirts (God, Guns & Trump 2024) on the serving staff. Total turn off. Will not return.

Two over easy eggs, grits and toast.

I stopped in early around 6 because my hotel did not serve breakfast until 7 am. I was pleased with the food and the service. It was such a welcoming place. There was also a customer playing harmonica, which was a unique surprise.

Extra healthy Mediterranean egg white omelet
Phil W.

I normally get the traditional breakfast. Their bacon is top notch and the extra crispy hash browns are the best around. This tim I went healthy with an egg white Mediterranean omelet and fresh fruit. I ate the fresh strawberries and blueberries before the pict. Everything was great!

The corner-front of the breakfast and brunch restaurant. Very simple, very dated but a-okay.

Many of my reviewers and Yelp friends know that I love breakfast and brunch restaurants. There is something about breakfast food that is just amazing to my palette. Ergo, whenever hear about a new breakfast or brunch place, I just got to try it out. Friendly Toast Cafe 2 (which I will just shorthand to "Friendly Toast" for the remainder of the review) is located on Wickham Rd. near Adecco. The question is if its worth eating there and the answer is "yes" if you want an all-around good experience. Upon enterting, you'll be treated by a lot of beach designs. Apparently the owners love going there! The chairs and tables are of simple and basic design meaning they can be okay or uncomfortable depening on who you are and how you feel. The food however is really good. I personally love their omelettes and breakfast burritos. Biscuits and gravy are good still and their pancakes are delicious. I also love that they promote art. Someone painted one of their daughters, who used to work there, and it is hanging in the restaurant. The only issues I would bring up with Friendly Toast Cafe 2 is the fact there is always another breakfast or brunch restaurant that does one thing or the other better than they do. Atmosphere: Keke's. Price and biscuits: Oh Biscuit. Biscuits and gravy: Family Tradition. What Friendly Toast does have going is a well-balance of all the attributes that make a great restaurant. I will definitely retry this place for a far better understanding of what they have to offer. But for now, they sit at four out of five stars. Oh... the one missing star can also be attributed to the fact the restroom wasn't that clean at the time.

Nasty hash omelet
Michael M.

The staff is very friendly and the service is good. Coffee is obviously low quality grounds and seriously void of any taste. The orange juice was tropicana, come on people its florida, you can buy tropicana at Walmart. I ordered the hash omlette. The hash was out of the can which is a joke since making fresh hash takes little effort. The hash browns were frozen straight from the bag. You could taste the freezer in the hash browns. Awful!!! Besides the food being of poor quality this place doesn't take credit cards. Once I saw that we should have walked out. Its a sign of impending doom for a restaurant. Seriously what restaurant worth its salt doesnt accept credit cards???? These previous reviewers with their 4 and 5 star reviews are absolutely bonkers!!!

Turkey bacon aka machine pressed processed food product. Note the identical pattern on each strip.
K J.

I think they prefer their "known regulars" to outsiders. I knew something was off when the waitress deliberately wiped her smile off her face whenever she turned from her usuals to me. The scrambles are puny. Definitely not 3 egg. I had about a teaspoon of ham on mine. It was really skimpy. Not sure if the owner is trying to cut corners or if they ran out at 10am. Scramble was about the volume of a deck of cards. Not okay at $9. Turkey bacon was a joke, see pic. I couldn't down it. First she told me it was included with the scramble then charged me for it. They don't have skim or 2%?? Really? Definitely will not go back.

While I was sitting at the bar waiting for a drink, Bridget singled me out in front of other customers and questioned me about not leaving a tip. She made comments about why I was there if I wasn't tipping and then refused to serve me another drink because it. She continued with "Aww, what are you gonna do, just stand there?" I was caught completely off guard and felt embarrassed being put on the spot in front of everyone. What made the situation even stranger was that she had barely interacted with me all night. She wasn't even my main bartender. She poured me like one shot. The entire interaction left me feeling humiliated. Other people saw what happened and even approached me afterward and expressed how bad they felt for me. Some even bought me drinks because of what they witnessed. When complete strangers are apologizing for the behavior of your staff, that's a problem. Some also mentioned that they had seen and heard about Bridget's behavior on several occasions. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. As my friends and I were leaving, Bridget came outside and made a point of speak loudly and directly to me in a way that felt sarcastic and mocking. She watched our entire group leave and didn't say a word to a single other person which only reinforced the feeling that I was being targeted. I've worked in customer service and understand that tips are appreciated, But publicly embarrassing a customer, refusing service over a tip, and then continuing to antagonize them afterward is completely uncalled for. What makes this especially disappointing is that this was my first time going out with friends since losing my younger sister. I was looking forward to a night of laughter, music, and a chance to take my mind off everything for a few hours. Instead, I left feeling disgusted and disrespected. Customers come to Salty Fox to relax and enjoy themselves, not to be shamed by staff. The way I was treated by Bridget was unacceptable and by no means should be tolerated. :( The owners don't really care about their business and her repulsive behavior because there has been multiple complaints and she's still there. Also, looking at their reviews on google instead of trying to resolve the issues, they make sly and smart remarks to their customer. You should want the best for your customers and business but they are condoning horrible customer service which is pushing people away. Do better Salty Fox! I used to love coming here with a whole bunch of my friends but Bridget put a real bad taste in my mouth and I don't think we'll be back.

The décor is beautiful, and the combination of indoor seating and large garage doors opening to a spacious outdoor patio creates a fun date-night vibe with excellent beach views. Be aware that the indoor dining area was so loud. We opted to dine al fresco. The drink menu is creative, but cocktails are on the pricey side at around $15+. I tried the seasonal margarita and was surprised by how small the glass was for the cost. To be fair, it was served without ice (just how I prefer it), which likely factored into the size. Even the water glasses seemed unusually small. Service was excellent across the board. The entire staff worked together seamlessly, but the true standout was Peter, the host. When seating guests, he offered a choice between tables, a thoughtful touch I watched him extend to everyone. Throughout the evening, he seemed to be everywhere at once, helping deliver drinks and desserts, checking restrooms and supplies, assisting staff, and ensuring guests were taken care of. The ultimate example of his attentiveness came when I accidentally left my purse behind while walking on the beach. Peter actually started heading toward the beach to make sure I got it back. His attitude, work ethic, and willingness to help in every area made a lasting impression. Food prices are also on the higher side. I wanted to sample a few items, so I ordered two appetizers: the mussels, which were plentiful, and the shrimp and crab cake. I'm very particular about crab cakes, and this one was excellent and highly recommended. The portions were filling, though next time I'll probably order an entrée since the pricing works out similarly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his double stack smashburger, and we couldn't pass up dessert. The chocolate cake was enormous, incredibly moist, and absolutely delicious. Overall, Boardwalk Bar & Grill offers fantastic views, a great atmosphere, excellent service, and quality food. Just be prepared for premium pricing.
