Went in for a simple breakfast - not expecting anything special. Did notice the fresh clean establishment, along very exclusive menus - but I still just wanted a couple eggs & coffee. What I got was the MK Breakfast, with a diner quality square plate, which formed the easel background for two beautiful eggs, sunny-side up, bowl of grits in the center, and the best looking piece oh ham I have ever seen. I was in WOW! mode until I started eating. I have never tasted eggs so delicious (certain seasonings) and the 'grits' were to die for. But when I sliced off a piece of that ham - I was hooked big time, this was the most enjoyable breakfast I have ever had. I followed the food with large glass of orange juice, with a fresh slice of orange on the rim, revealing the sent of an orange grove. Boy, maybe I was just dreaming - but ya know what? If you're looking for a restaurant where the food is delicious AND you genuinely feel welcomed, go to Melbourne Kitchen. From the moment we sat down, this was such a memorable experience. The owner, Chris, took the time to come by our table and introduce himself. My friend wanted to ask him about the fish and grits, which is new to the menu. She mentioned that she typically prefers her fish fried with grits, but she was perfectly willing to have it blackened as intended. Chris didn't hesitate -- he said he'd be more than happy to fry it for her and let the kitchen take care of the rest. And honestly? Chris literally made this entire visit worthwhile. He checked on us constantly, and somewhere between the delicious food and catching up, we shared so many laughs. My friend and I are notorious for being the people who close restaurants , and Melbourne Kitchen closes at 3 PM. Somehow, we found ourselves approaching 3.5 hours at the table, just enjoying the food, conversation, and atmosphere. At one point, Chris told us that he appreciated the time we were spending there and talked about how valuable time really is. He said he was honored that we chose to spend that time with his restaurant and his staff. That genuinely stuck with me. He also shared some of the exciting things he has planned for Melbourne Kitchen -- including dinner hours, happy hour, a stage for the patio, and live music. You can tell this isn't just a restaurant to him; he really wants to create a place where people can gather, eat, laugh, and spend time together. And because my friend is nothing if not BOLD , she asked if she could get a sneak peek at the dinner menu. Chris made it happen and printed the draft menu right on the spot! I absolutely loved that. As for the food, I had the chicken and waffles, and my friend had the fish and grits. Both were delicious, and I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. Even after all that, we weren't quite ready to leave, so on our way out we grabbed a few pastries to take with us: a Biscoff Rice Krispie, Oreo brownie, and macadamia nut cookie. I haven't tried them all yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it! I'm honestly so incredibly happy to write this review because we need more restaurants -- and more people -- like Melbourne Kitchen and Chris. Food can be good anywhere. But genuine hospitality, kindness, laughter, and making people feel like their time matters? That's something special. Thank you, Chris, and the entire Melbourne Kitchen team, for such a wonderful afternoon. This was me and my wife's first time eating here!!! Oh my!! It didn't disappoint at all!!! Our server LEXI was super cool and friendly great service. Then the food came!!!! It was amazing! The fresh flavors, meats, & ingredients! the home fries felt like home cooking! Im from CT and the owner is from NY, that's was the only way to cook them up north, not deep fried, pan sautéed and crispy! To top it off the owner came out and introduced himself and chatted with us for a bit and told us a part of his story HUMBLE PIE RIGHT THERE!! Clean inside and it has a big outdoor seating section. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was presented nicely and tasted delicious. It would be nice if the location was in a different spot so you could have a better view while sitting outside but that would be my only change thus far. Dead on arrival. We were very excited to try this new place. Seated right away in a newly renovated dining room and drinks were out quickly. We ordered and were enjoying our conversation and noticed it was pretty busy and the food coming out looked really good. Then we noticed tables seated after us paying their bills and leaving. Huh oh!!! We ask about our food and it shows up about five minutes later. You can see in the photo of my tacos they died in the pas for so long that the cream drained all out into the plate. And the pile of "fresh made" chips were cold and missing the pico de gallo. Yes it showed up before I took the picture. Shrimp were warm at best. We pointed this out and our server notes they were not even correctly prepared with the chipotle sauce and slaw missing. The cheeseburger was tepid and the cheese had congealed on top and you could just tell it had died in the pass too. However the fries were piping hot. Hmmmmm wonder which timings were off. The flavors were great. But temps and wait were substandard for the prices they charge. Look at the menu pics and you will see what I mean. Chef/owner? He did not say who he was, came by and we explained what we thought of the service and the timing issue. He offered to remake something but as we had been there for a bit and to be honest just too hungry to continue to wait we declined and moved on. Server was awesome though, Brittany, so if you get her know she will do all she can. Hoping this new place figures out their processes as the flavors were good even if they were off on temps. I've been wanting to eat at Melbourne Kitchen since I saw it was under construction. Finally made our way in today for brunch. The restaurant is clean, fresh and open. I love the counter where they have all their baked goods. We ended up trying one of their cinnamon rolls to go with our coffee, it was pretty tasty. Anthony our server was super! He was friendly and was on top of things from the very get go. He never made us feel rushed. I ordered the corned beef hash with Brussel sprouts and my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. While the service is one of the most personalized I have seen at a brunch place, the food was just average. I ordered the Avocado Toast. The Sourdough bread was not toasted enough. My husband ordered the Duck Eggs Benedict. His comment was that he thought there would be more duck. The place had a nice ambiance - dark tones. This is an upscale (feeling) diner, and yes, the food is GREAT! They've been open for a few months now. The hostess was very warm and courteous. Our server (Violet) was very hospitable. The owner (Chris) actually came to our table, talked with us at length, and took pictures with us! We ordered "Hatch It Up" (built our own omelette). My wife had a Waffle (which was very light and tasty), Sausage and Eggs and Hashbrowns. The Home Fries are made from scratch daily. The coffee is very good, even the water is light and tastes very clean! We'll definitely be back again, especially since Chris, the owner, asked us to come back soon to try his Shrimp and Grits! We just discovered MK and have been back several times in a month, for both breakfast and lunch. The food deserves 6 stars; breakfast options are incredible and the burger I had for lunch was outstanding! Parking is a breeze, the service is the best in Melbourne, and the Chef visited our table each time we visited; unheard of in similar eateries. I had the chicken tacos. It was $18.00 for two. They were the worst tacos I've ever had. They tasted funny. They had dark meat in them. I've never heard of dark chicken in tacos. It should be posted. I also asked for more pico de gallo and I was charged an extra $2.00 for a little tin cup. We had to keep asking the server for things. He was all over the place. He couldn't focus on what we were saying. I felt the food was way over priced. It also felt like we were sitting in a diner with a big bar. I would of liked to of sat in the dining room, but we weren't given the choice. The dessert in the case when you first walk in looked dried out and stale. I will never go back. read more

The restaurant looks nice enough, and the staff is very pleasant. I ordered a biscuit with sausage gravy and it was very good, but there wasn't enough gravy on the biscuit - so it was quite dry. I asked for more, and was charged $5.00 for a very, very small bowl of extra gravy. My friend was charged $2 for pico de gallo to go with her tacos and chips. Why the up charge for that? The thing that did impress us, though, was that just as the fried green tomatoes had been brought out to our table, as an appetizer, the chef came out and told me how he made them. They were delicious!! So, I feel it's more expensive than many breakfast/lunch places, and that items which would not be charged for in other restaurants are charged for there. read more
