The chef even came around and checked on us while we dined. This place is definitely a must try. If I lived in the area, this would be my regular spot!

Melbourne Kitchen survived what can only be described as a small-scale family invasion. We rolled in with somewhere between 20 and 50 people... the official headcount was probably closer to 20, but when you factor in kids moving in every direction and a few relatives who have seen every presidential administration since sliced bread was invented, it definitely felt like 50. We called ahead, and the staff was completely ready for us. They were welcoming from the moment we walked in and never once made us feel like we had just shown up with an invading army. That's impressive. Since it was brunch time, both the breakfast and lunch menus were available. I naturally chose breakfast because it's society's one acceptable excuse to eat syrup and whipped cream before noon. The coffee deserves its own paragraph. It was fantastic. I would have happily sat there drinking cup after cup if I weren't reasonably concerned my heart would eventually file a formal complaint. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with folded egg, candied bacon, and a croissant. My only complaint is that I'm not still eating it. Absolutely delicious. My wife's avocado toast was accidentally forgotten, but the chef noticed the mistake before anyone even had to complain. He came out personally, apologized, and had another one made immediately. That's exactly how you recover from a mistake. We also had one bill that got a little sideways, but when you're feeding a crowd this size, a hiccup or two is almost expected. Overall... great food, great coffee, and a staff that handled organized chaos with a smile. If you're anywhere nearby and looking for a solid breakfast or brunch, Melbourne Kitchen is well worth the stop. read more

We went to Melbourne Kitchen for a St. Patrick's Day meal and it was a really disappointing experience from start to finish. We ordered the corned beef and cabbage, and unfortunately it was far from enjoyable. The cabbage was hard and undercooked, and the meat was tough instead of tender like you'd expect. It just didn't feel like a well-prepared dish, especially for a holiday special. The desserts were no better--they tasted like they weren't fresh, which was surprising and disappointing. What really made things worse was the price. For two people sharing a meal (no alcohol), the bill came out to $80. That's extremely high for the quality of food we received. It felt like we were being charged big-city prices without getting anything close to that level of quality. Service was also lacking. It wasn't crowded, yet the service was slow and our server didn't check in or pay much attention to us. Overall, between the poor food, high prices, and inattentive service, this was not a good experience. I won't be returning. read more

Sophisticated offerings. They take food and bump it up to exceptional. This is my second time, first breakfast. My eggs were perfectly done. I had the Gruyère and Parmesan grits which were creamy and hearty. The bacon was thick and perfect. I had also added sausage and biscuits without comprehending the volume of food. Service was friendly and welcoming the entire time. The restaurant was clean, there's outdoor seating available, and the whole place just has that "great local breakfast spot" feel. The biscuits were soft and homemade tasting with rich sausage gravy, the hash browns were perfectly crispy, and the Monte Cristo was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The cheesy grits were amazing and definitely worth ordering again. Great portions, friendly service, and a cozy breakfast atmosphere. This is definitely a spot worth trying!
