My friend & I stopped in, after shopping, for a late lunch. We were 1st time customers. The interior & atmosphere was that of a local small diner, like those we enjoyed, many years ago. Wally, our server, welcomed us with a friendly smile & made enjoyable small talk. We ordered the cheeseburger that comes with a choice of 1 side. We chose the french fries-because of their great reviews. We were not disappointed! Light, but had a nice crisp & flavor. The angus cheeseburger was made perfectly, and was very flavorful & juicy. The melted cheddar cheese was such good addition. The man who made our food was referred to as Mr. Ian, by our server, Wally. We asked him to pass along our compliments to Ian. (I hope I'm spelling it correctly. (Pronounced Ee-an). This diner, also, serves dinner all day. I'm going to try the meatloaf, next time. We will, definitely, make this a regular part of our N. The chicken and waffles was as good as Lolo's in Phoenix. Actually, better. First of all, the sweet strawberry butter was something I've never had, and I'm a fan. It reminded me of the King of Queens episode where Spence eats a dozen butterballs to win a baseball ticket. If he had to eat this strawberry butter, it wouldn't have been a disgusting chore. They also have a spicy syrup, which added so much complimentary flavor, leaving a little burn. The fried chicken has a great tasting batter, and you get a wing, leg, thigh and breast. Went for a late lunch/breakfast today with my daughter. Service was good. Food was just ok. I had the western omelet with salsa on the side and no tomatoes. Daughter ordered a waffle with a side of bacon. The omelet was dry, the cheese was not all that melty and the green peppers were a little undercooked for my liking. My daughter's waffle was cold and she did not love the bacon which is odd because bacon is her meat of choice over any other meat for any meal. On a Sunday morning at 7:30am, I was surprised at how little of a gathering there was here. Maybe people had decided to sleep in, maybe people have cut back due to increasing costs (of everything), or maybe the food and service? (horrors!).... Anyhow we were greeted by a pleasant employee and promptly seated. Our waitress came and took our drink orders which came out quickly. My coffee was hot and mellow. It was ok. I ordered the breakfast Huevos Rancheros. This consists of choice of egg (I selected over easy) served over fried sun-dried tomato tortilla shells, bacon, sausage, black beans, onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, roasted corn, and green peppers. All of this topped with cheese sour cream, salsa, fried jalapenos, and green onions ($12.99). When asked, they stated they no longer carried sourdough bread. Our orders took a little longer than usual due to there only being one person in the kitchen (according to our waitress). When we received our orders, I had to ask for extra salsa. The service was very good and the salsa was brought immediately. I enjoyed my meal although I was a little disappointed in the fried sun-dried tomato tortilla shells. They were not crispy, and in fact somewhat tough. The overall taste was good however. That being said, I will probably try something different next time. There are booths as well as table seating. Interesting pictures align the walls. We were wished a good day upon leaving by a couple of employees. The place is empty at 8:40 on a Monday, near the freeway, with other places packed? Bad sign, but the pictures looked promising, so in I went. Promises not kept. High calorie joint that relies on a lot of easy fat and sugar happy that is about a day's eating in one meal. I ordered the "480 cal" avocado toast? About 800+ showed up. Condition? The large blackish spots are either bruises or oxidization that discolors the avocado. Both are more appalling than appealing. It's supposed to be chopped but it's more mashed. Burnt toast doesn't help the case much either. Coffee was just dirty water. Weaker than the cooking. Service was great. That's the two stars. The dining room is dark and depressing. With other chains up and down the street? My best advice: AVOID read more

We love Metro Diner! We come here every time we're in town visiting my mother-in-law. The food is classic and delicious -- breakfast all day (with grits, which instantly wins me over!). Their mimosas are generous, and the whole place has such a friendly, relaxed energy. You can tell the staff genuinely enjoy working here -- you just can't fake that kind of camaraderie. What a great place. I was driving the east coast of Florida and searched online for chicken salad. This place popped up and it was close enough to 95, so I gave it a whirl. It's such a cute place that was bustling and busy, but the servers were calm and friendly. Maybe a little frazzled, but still terrific. I opted for a to-go order so I could get back on the road and they were the nicest people and very fast. The Chicken Salad on a huge croissant was delicious although I do wish they had fruit or salad as a side. The three sides options were home fries, french fries, or mashed potatoes. This review is for a to-go order. The menu is pretty much go ole American classics. I grabbed the grilled meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a side of mac and cheese. Everything was Meh. The meatloaf was okay. Very heavy on the bread crumbs and herbs. Macaroni and cheese tastes like it was close to a Stouffer's frozen dinner. The potatoes were a little too over whipped. The green beans, on the other hand ,were my favorite. Steamed still crispy with some butter on top. They had a great snap to them. read more

Absolute worst huevos rancheros that I have ever seen, how could they think this was edible. It had been in the back, under the heat lamps, toasting, and put my eggs on top. Literally, the chips were burned brown/black, and some beans that had fallen onto the plate were baked onto the plate, you could not move them. I know, Metro Diners appear to be independently run, but this one is the worst I have encountered. I put $20 on the table and walked our, not ever to return. Just terrible. read more

I came here for a work breakfast meeting from all the way in Orlando. I knew it was a chain but I saw the ratings weren't bad at all so I was pretty excited to try some of the food. I had the croissant French toast, cheese grits and sausage links. The croissant French toast was definitely unique and creative, and I did enjoy all of the food. The service was slow but maybe it's because we had a group of 7 with us. It was clean from what I saw and was not busy on a weekday morning. This place had a filthy bathroom. The floors in the restaurant were filthy. The food was not very good. Greasy frozen fried fish. When I complained to the waitress she went to the manager who never attempted to address me. When I was leaving the host sarcastically told me to have a nice day. The good: Our server was very friendly when we could get their attention, which was not as often as we would have liked. But, they did an okay job considering how busy it was. Also, the ambiance is like an old-times diner. The bad: Meatloaf was very salty and the waffle was nothing to write home about. A great place to eat a meal in the Melbourne area This is located on the north side of Wickham road to the east of I-95. It is located on the west end of s strip mall with about 10 stores in it. As far as I know, it is the only Metro Diner in our area. There is an entryway with a host/hostess station. We were greeted on entry and taken to our booth. The tables are a mix of booths and tables. The decor is dark wood with the specials on a board mounted on the back wall. The kitchen is visible against the right-hand side as you enter. The tables were clean but the seats had crumbs on them. The restaurant was not very busy. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient. The menu has a good assortment of breakfast items including everything from oatmeal to eggs and bacon to french toast. We ordered eggs/bacon and the oatmeal. They came out in about 15 minutes and were good. The prices were reasonable at about $13 for each meal and $3 for each drink. Overall, it was a pleasant experience that I would recommend to others wanting a good meal in the area. read more

What more can I say? The lines of people and food speak for themselves. Delicious and always fresh diner fare. Everything is good- never had a bad meal here. The biscuits (and biscuits and gravy!) are so good! Breakfast options are plenty: plates, bowls, griddle favorites and so much more! Lunch/dinner is also delicious. I rarely write a review, but I knew I needed to share this experience since no one at the diner seemed to care. I called ahead and was told they had pot roast available for a dinner. The waitress advised the pot roast came with carrots and celery--no mashed potatoes or anything. I asked why since the other entrees come with 2 sides. She verified with the cook and then said she didn't know why. What kind of diner serves pot roast with no mashed potatoes? My husband ordered the fish fry and asked for cocktail sauce. Waitress advised they don't have cocktail sauce. What? Anyway, the menu is very limited, so I settled for cheese grits and shrimp which was OK but certainly not diner quality. Maybe I'm used to the fabulous diners in the Northeast, but this dinner was a huge letdown. read more

Came at 5:30pm on a Thursday, not busy at all. I asked for a cup of coffee, to which the waitress asked if I'd be okay waiting for them to brew a fresh pot, since she believed there wasn't enough left for a full cup. I said "yes of course"... She came back a few minutes later and said "nevermind there was enough for just a cup!" The cup of coffee I received wasn't hot, and tasted like it had been sitting there all day (which I'm sure it had). I'm not sure why the waitress didn't brew a new pot anyways, because refills on coffee are free. I didn't finish the one cup I received, and I didn't ask for another cup because I felt like a hassle asking for a fresh one. Being a diner, they should have hot fresh coffee available for customers. I had no problem waiting for a new pot to brew, as we hadn't even ordered our food yet. I was charged $3.49 for a lukewarm cup of coffee that tasted stale I feel like I shouldn't have been charged at all. My husband and I both got burgers. We ordered the kids Mac & cheese with a side of fruit for our toddler. The Mac and cheese was disgraceful. Waterlogged noodles, with an incredibly wet & way overly-salted "cheese" sauce. Kraft would have been so much better. Our son (who loves mac & cheese) didn't eat any of it. My husband then tasted it and said it was way too salty. Very disappointed. The fruit was good, so that's a plus. My burger was ordered medium well. It reminded me of the school lunch burgers that are boiled in water. There was no flavor & it didn't have any charring on it, so I don't think it could have been cooked on a grill. Perhaps it was precooked & just heated in a microwave? The fries were good. Fresh & cooked well. Overall I wouldn't come again. We spent $40 before tip, and it just wasn't worth that much. If you want a good burger, go to five guys or the burger place. read more

Chelsea was our server this afternoon and she was absolutely awesome. This diner is a hidden gem and well worth the drive if you live further away. I got the meat lovers omelette and my wife got the chicken strips. The omelette was mouthwatering the grits were delicious and the sweet tea was amazing. The chicken strips were delicious and the ranch dressing for dipping was thick and delicious. What a pleasure our lunch was. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff was welcoming and funny. The facility was very clean and the restrooms were very clean. This is a great place for a hungry person. You will miss out if you don't stop by. read more
