I rarely write a review, but I knew I needed to share this experience since no one at the diner seemed to care. I called ahead and was told they had pot roast available for a dinner. The waitress advised the pot roast came with carrots and celery--no mashed potatoes or anything. I asked why since the other entrees come with 2 sides. She verified with the cook and then said she didn't know why. What kind of diner serves pot roast with no mashed potatoes? My husband ordered the fish fry and asked for cocktail sauce. Waitress advised they don't have cocktail sauce. What? Anyway, the menu is very limited, so I settled for cheese grits and shrimp which was OK but certainly not diner quality. Maybe I'm used to the fabulous diners in the Northeast, but this dinner was a huge letdown. read more

Chelsea was our server this afternoon and she was absolutely awesome. This diner is a hidden gem and well worth the drive if you live further away. I got the meat lovers omelette and my wife got the chicken strips. The omelette was mouthwatering the grits were delicious and the sweet tea was amazing. The chicken strips were delicious and the ranch dressing for dipping was thick and delicious. What a pleasure our lunch was. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff was welcoming and funny. The facility was very clean and the restrooms were very clean. This is a great place for a hungry person. You will miss out if you don't stop by. read more

Came at 5:30pm on a Thursday, not busy at all. I asked for a cup of coffee, to which the waitress asked if I'd be okay waiting for them to brew a fresh pot, since she believed there wasn't enough left for a full cup. I said "yes of course"... She came back a few minutes later and said "nevermind there was enough for just a cup!" The cup of coffee I received wasn't hot, and tasted like it had been sitting there all day (which I'm sure it had). I'm not sure why the waitress didn't brew a new pot anyways, because refills on coffee are free. I didn't finish the one cup I received, and I didn't ask for another cup because I felt like a hassle asking for a fresh one. Being a diner, they should have hot fresh coffee available for customers. I had no problem waiting for a new pot to brew, as we hadn't even ordered our food yet. I was charged $3.49 for a lukewarm cup of coffee that tasted stale I feel like I shouldn't have been charged at all. My husband and I both got burgers. We ordered the kids Mac & cheese with a side of fruit for our toddler. The Mac and cheese was disgraceful. Waterlogged noodles, with an incredibly wet & way overly-salted "cheese" sauce. Kraft would have been so much better. Our son (who loves mac & cheese) didn't eat any of it. My husband then tasted it and said it was way too salty. Very disappointed. The fruit was good, so that's a plus. My burger was ordered medium well. It reminded me of the school lunch burgers that are boiled in water. There was no flavor & it didn't have any charring on it, so I don't think it could have been cooked on a grill. Perhaps it was precooked & just heated in a microwave? The fries were good. Fresh & cooked well. Overall I wouldn't come again. We spent $40 before tip, and it just wasn't worth that much. If you want a good burger, go to five guys or the burger place. read more

Wanted to try a place we hadn't visited. It leaves a bad impression on me to be yelled at from the back of the room. The floor was so grimy and slippery with grease I nearly slipped getting to and from my table. I ordered avocado toast and it was packaged avocado, not fresh (meh). Also ordered teriyaki chicken wings. They were also meh. Had to ask for the carrots and celery. They had no carrots and the celery was clearly old, dry, and bruised, so it was left untouched on the plate. Won't ever return. read more

Not the best, ​not the worst. Waitresses scurried about but took a bit to get to our table. Food came out in an ok amount of time. Not all together and when mine arrived it​ was missing an egg. Apparently,​ that is what held it up and let the rest get cold. The lone egg should up a minute later. The grits came out and tasted like the sausage gravy minus the meat. Heavily seasoned....MEH! The biscuits are like hardtack. Not the fluffy biscuit one expects from a southern restaurant​. The manager came by and offered she would fix it while I​ waited. Seemed disingenuous​. Brought a wrong refill.....and had to be reminded to bring a correct one. Basic skill missing. One highlight is the hashbrowns. Perfect. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed for a weekday. Having lived in NYC for about two decades. One gets familiar with what a Diner should be. If you are in Manhattan, Long Island, or the Hudson Valley a diner is a comfortable place where you can get anything from Eggs Benedict to Steak and Lobster. The food and service is great and if it isn't which is rare, you let your NYer come out and you never go back. Luckily those experiences were rare. Stopped by this morning for breakfast. I was warmly greeted and promptly seated. My very friendly server Tayla was very helpful with the menu and specials. Doesn't hurt either that she resembled Fiona from Shameless. I ordered coffee and orange juice they were quickly delivered. The coffee is very good as was the OJ. I ordered the hash and eggs with white toast. She delivered my breakfast lightning fast. The hash was delicious and the eggs perfectly poached. The toast was of a very good quality and perfect for yolk dipping. This establishment is the perfect example of a well oiled machine. It opened just a day or so ago and clearly everyone knows what they are doing. I always say that extensive pre launch training is a must. I will definately be back to try lunch and dinner. read more

I'm generally pretty easygoing when it comes to breakfast joints, but this was just objectively bad. Portion size was definitely meager for a $15 meal, the promised Hollandaise sauce was MIA, and they somehow managed to both burn AND undercook the hash browns. There are lots of breakfast spots nearby, so I recommend skipping this one. read more

Bring your appetite when you come to Metro diner. The food is filling and ample. Their fried chicken melts in your mouth. My favorite is always the waffles. So let me get the negative out of the way. Our service. We gone in on a weeknight an hour before closing. Host sat us, and we were greeted shortly there after by our waitress. The restaurant had customers, but was not busy. Bottom line, she took our order and brought us our drinks. Didn't see her for a while. She was talking to another customer or off-going worker. We saw our food on the counter ready to be taken, but I am not sure. Eventually the host brought us our food. No refills for my boys or anything like that. OK. Done with the truly negative. The food? Really, really good. With a few exceptions. The fried chicken? So good. I've had better in only a few places. I would put this chicken in my top 10. The skin was was crispy and not over fried. The salt was just enough. My issues with the chicken? It was a little undercooked. There was pink at the bone near the joint. I unfortunately do this all the time at home, so I was not truly worried. But this is a restaurant. This should not be. I don't send food back, and I am still here to write this review, so I did not die. Just be aware. It was supposed to be hit with a sweet/spicy sauce? I didn't taste sweet or spicy. The chicken was fantastic (minus the pink) as was. And the biscuit that came with? Never had a harder/stale biscuit. The cheeseburger? Again, a great burger. Good toppings. BUT again, under cooked. My wife asked for medium rare, and that is not what she got. It was red/pink and fleshy. No, didn't send it back. Yes, she is still alive. But this event has me ordering burgers medium everywhere I go from now on. The BLT club? Fantastic. The bacon had a great smoke taste to it. If you get the BLT, you won't be disappointed. And finally, the chicken pot pie. Great, great, great, stick to your ribs meal. My son loved it, and ate it all before I had a chance to taste it. Now you are saying, "you've identified some pretty not good things there Dan!" I think it was the Quality Control or lack there of. I think on any other night, the things I experienced would not occur. I chalk this up to being the end of the night. If I went there again, and it happened again, I would change this up. Metro Diner is good. It carries a good name. And I will go there again. I won't let this event sway me just yet, as it is good food. Hope this helps. read more

We have been here about 4-5 times. We like the food but we REALLY wanted to try the chicken fried steak. Well, we finally got some and it was worth the wait! Just kidding. It was extremely over cooked and it looked like they use a miniature spoon to put gravy on it (see picture). Or they ran out and scraped the bottom of the gravy pot. Or their recipe calls for covering 1/10th of the food. It was tough to chew, but I was so hungry I just gnawed through it til I couldn't take it any more. The food is usually good. It is VERY busy on the weekends. But maybe don't get the chicken fried steak. read more

Came in on a Saturday and was seated right away even thou it was busy . Our waitress Jamie was awesome. She was quick to bring our drinks and didn't rush us with our orders . I had the veggie omelet which was packed full of veggies and cheese heavy on cheese I might add . The English muffin was hard as a brick thou but I worked my way thru it . The hash browns were also nicely done . My friend tried the eggs Benedict which she enjoyed . The portions are large and not that expensive. The owner came to see how we liked our food and the staff there are truly go out of their way to make a good impression. Definitely look forward to letting others know about this place.. Great Diner. Had a cheeseburger with fries. Delicious! My date had the eggs Benedict. It was perfectly cooked.

Terrible quality and creepy waiters. Ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the chicken salad was crunchy and seemed to have bones in it.

I've been here 4 times. The food is always plentiful and good. There is a bit too much salt in the chicken beast that goes on the sub. Otherwise, very good. The waitresses are not very good, they forget part of the order or its the wrong order. The one waitress we had that was really good was Amy. I think that was her name. She had a lot of tattoos. She was friendly and kept up with drink refills the orders were all correct and delivered fast. Try and be seated in her section if you want good service. read more

Currently in a food coma while I write this!! Came for brunch with my boyfriend and it was the best breakfast we've had in forever! Ordered the western oml and subbed the hash browns for a cup of fruit that was fresh and delicious! Omelette was stuffed full of ingredients, I loved it!! Wow, a new restaurant! Their entire menu was available to order. I decided on the Chicken and Waffles for my first meal here at Metro Diner. The waffle was fresh and warm. The fried chicken was delicious--fresh, crispy, juicy. The fried chicken was not boneless, so I ate it with .y hands. That said, I ate the waffle quarters by hand also, just dipping it in the syrup. Went there for breakfast today and place was empty. Had the carrot cake waffle and coffee and it was fine. Used the bathroom and was disgusted to see that, despite this being right at opening, nothing was cleaned. Floors filthy with urine and toilets nasty. This place has nosedived since it's promising opening a few years back and I'm not sure how much longer it will survive. read more

WOW "FOOD COMA" is right! Huge portions, southern cookin, breakfast all day, and military discounts! This is comfort food at its best! The staff is sweet and very helpful (CUDOS to Pam's very attentive service) and the desserts divine, also HUGE, SHARABLE and change daily. You will not be disappointed and if you leave hungry it is your own fault! This place is packed, but the wait is short, the atmosphere like family (well my crazy loving family anyhow), and the staff goes out of their way to make your experience enjoyable! Excellent!! Great Breakfast! Great coffee! I had "Blueberry crêpes" stuffed with cream cheese and topped with blueberries and whipped cream. Wow was it good! My wife had coffee and a "Stuffed peach hallah French toast". My wife liked her entrée very much. The service was great and our food came out just like we ordered it! The manager/owner came to our table to ask us how we liked our food. We told him that it exceeded our expectations. If you buy their mug you will get money off every meal you eat there if you bring the mug. We will definitely come back again! read more

The management of this place is apparently rotten to the core. I had left a prior review explaining how I had walked in and was told a specific booth was "closed for social distancing." Then, one minute later, the hostess sat her friends in that spot. The managing partner of this restaurant then commented on my review, saying she "understood my frustration with changes made during the pandemic." No, it is clear you don't understand at all. My comments had absolutely nothing to do with changes made during a pandemic. They had to do with employees enforcing these changes inconsistently and in a way that insults people. A change made during a pandemic would be keeping a booth closed, and making sure ALL customers comply with that. Fine, cool. I approve! But that's not what happened here. In this case, certain customers were asked to comply while others were given special treatment. Not a pandemic issue, but a SERVICE issue. And for the GM to not see that is unprofessional and ridiculous. read more
