Hubby and I finally tried Metro Diner and I'm mad it took so long! I'm also mad I forgot to write this review because I don't remember what hubby had but I do remember having the Fish & Chips and it was delicious. I know he enjoyed his food, too, just can't remember what it was. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and the servers are sweet and helpful. Next time I go back I'll make sure to write an updated review because we've gone twice now and I can't remember anything but the fish & chips and a flight of mimosas. Maybe that's the problem! Just found pics of the last time we went and apparently we had a cup of soup that I'm sure was good too. :-) read more

Tangy chicken was okay and tasted like minute rice. Boyfriend for the Meat Lover's Scramble Bowl said the hollandaise sauce was too lemony and didn't work with the meal. Mollie wasn't the most attentive or friendly with us, yet asked us to leave her a good review so she can get an incentive or something like that, she spoke more to us in that interaction than in the service itself. Sat outside because inside was busy. We probably won't return. read more

Metro diner is always a great place for a meal. Breakfast is always available - they also offer a good selection of burgers, chicken dishes - even chicken and waffles! They have salads, ribs, shrimp and grits and so far everything we've tried has been quite satisfactory. The staff is always knowledgeable-friendly-fast. The coffee is great! Stopped in for breakfast. I was seated immediately and placed my order of biscuits and gravy along with eggs and home fried potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic! The eggs were done perfectly as over easy. Excellent friendly service and great food! We had the fried chicken and waffles and were amazed at the size of the plate! We especially enjoyed the strawberry butter on the waffle and the sauce that's a mix of hot sauce and syrup to dip our chicken in. Waitress was too notch and friendly. Metro Diner is a great place for good food, nice deals, and neighborly service. Marissa took great care of me and my food was up in less than five minutes. Someone, who I'm guessing was the manager or owner, was also very present. I forgot to grab his name, but he went to each table checking in on food, service, and temperature. It was a little chilly and he even offered to accommodate for comfortability. I will be back and often! read more

The BEST diner in Greenwood. Line was out the door this morning but we were able to belly up to the bar area right away. Metro diner has the best prices for bloody mary's around. Our waitress Bonnie provide excellent service to us. She was prompt to serving us, she was super friendly and was able to answer my questions and provide recommendations. We got to watch the kitchen staff put in work which was so fun! They did an amazing job, they were quick, clean and communicative. Well done, looking forward to dining here again soon. This is one of my go to places on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Love getting a cheat meal of biscuits and gravy and a cup of coffee black. Theybhave amazing chicken and waffles of course with that strawberry butter too. I like the avocado toast with all toppings added on as well. The service is always on par fast and efficient. I stopped in today to try one of the new burger choices. It's the "Big Kahuna". I orders medium temp and it had Swiss cheese, pulled pork, grilled pineapple, slaw and pineapple aioli. What an incredible flavor combination. My server was Bonnie and she kept my drink glass full and checked in on me several times. This location is friendly and they remember my name. Stopped in after shopping at Southport Antique Mall. Glad we did! Excellent homemade food. We had brunch (they serve breakfast all day). I had the hot chicken biscuit and my partner had the biscuits and gravy. Both came with sides and his came with eggs. First time here, was pretty busy and was told it would take 10ish min to be seated. We got seated in under 2!! So off to a good start! Our server was very polite and on top of things, didn't rush us and didn't rush us out after we were done eating. I did only get one refill on my coffee and was hoping for more. The food was good. I got the avocado toast with two eggs on the side and a side of hash browns. The avocado toast was awesome! The eggs weren't quite cooked to what I asked for and the hash browns were also a little undercooked but they were still good and I know they were slammed back in that kitchen. Overall it's a pretty good diner, decent prices, good service and good food. I recommend it here in f you like traditional diner breakfast/brunch or lunch. read more

11/23/24 5:30p We have dined here for years and have had great service however, tonight was different. We ordered and 15 minutes later our food arrived. Wife's was fine but my order was wrong. 3 egg breakfast except I got grits instead of my hash browns. Toast wasn't even warm and there was no jelly or butter at the table. It hadn't gotten busy yet however, it took almost 20 minutes to get my hash browns to the table and almost same time to just get some jelly and some butter for my cold bread. Without buttered toast or warm hash browns, the eggs over easy just weren't inviting any longer. The turkey sausage was over cooked and was very tough. My wife was finished with her meal 15 minutes before I finished. It was a very disappointing meal that didn't have to be. I would have even welcomed a "I'm sorry about this but it's as though your staff just didn't care. I'm disappointed. read more

I keep hearing great things, so I had to try it for myself! Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner with my daughter and granddaughter and had a great experience. Fish and Chips sounded really good, so I gave it a shot. I absolutely love their fries! The fish, which I prefer with malt vinegar instead of tartar, was OK. The quality seemed great, but something with the batter just didn't quite do it for me. I'll definitely return, but try something else. They have a pretty nicely stocked menu of diner type foods. Established in 1992.

Since the building's humble beginnings in 1938 and its revival as Metro Diner in 1992, Jacksonville's favorite place for breakfast has been serving satisfied guests for nearly 25 years. In 2000, master chef Mark Davoli and family took over and elevated the menu to include innovative new dishes created from local ingredients. Along with culinary creativity, the Davoli family brought more than 80 years of combined restaurant experience to Metro Diner. The place had a fairly high noise level anyway, along with the music that they were playing. Our server was very friendly and helpful in navigating the menu and answering questions. She went above and beyond being highly attentive in keeping up with all of her tables. The food was above par and very good, quality and quantity wise. We tried a few chicken entrees and they were great. The fried mushrooms were super good. I noticed somebody in the Yelp reviews compared them to Chili's. My opinion is that there is no comparison. Our drinks came out and my Prosecco was great (the only good thing from our entire visit). My husband's beer was bad/flat and he took one sip and never drank anything else from it. Our server either never noticed or didn't care. Then, to top it off, the next day they posted online about having trouble with their lines, so they knowingly served us/charged us for a bad beer. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was the atmosphere; coming from Chicago, we expected a more bustling vibe on a Thursday night. It seems Indianapolis is a bit quieter during the week. Overall, we had a delightful dining experience, and hats off to Arya for her exceptional service!

I have been wanting to try the Metro Dinner since they first opened on US 31. My wife invited me out to Metro for lunch and I finally had my chance! The staff were all friendly and seemed really excited that we were there! The diner was clean and the atmosphere was very comfortable. I ordered the Avocado Veggie Wrap with fries and my wife ordered the chicken wrap. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed that the fries came out with a small piece of chicken in them. I assume that they use the same oil to fry everything however I'd rather not have remnants on my plate. The avocado wrap was mostly enjoyable. We both wished that the ingredients on our wraps were spread out more. It had some areas that we're all jalapenos or all carrots. My husband had a big glob of orange spread at the bottom of his burrito which seemed odd. We did receive some of the best services that we have had in a long time. The waitress was helpful, friendly and attentive. As the mom of a special needs child, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the busboy was disabled and treated very well by the other staff. There were a few things that weren't satisfactory however I look forward to giving the Metro Diner another try. read more

I very rarely give 5 star ratings but this place more than deserves this rating. The manger on duty and the wait staff were exceptionally well trained and exceedingly efficient in their jobs. Could not have asked for better service or friendlier service. The food was very good and cooked just as requested so they too were exceptionally good. Last but not least were the folks cleaning tables as the guests were leaving. They were very efficient and very quick in getting their tasks finished. The last having to do with the folks cleaning the tables speaks volumes about the restaurant in hiring those with handicaps. All in all it was like stepping back in time 50 or so years to a time when customer service WAS the standard and not the exception to the rule. It truly was a great experience and felt somewhat like looking at a Norman Rockwell painting as I looked around the restaurant. Great job! You've got a new customer for life! read more

I love love love this place! Best breakfast/brunch spot in Indianapolis. Hands down. Plus it's breakfast lunch & dinner all the time so even if you don't want breakfast food like I generally do, they have delicious lunch and dinner meals as well. Always a homey & friendly atmosphere. Literally can't get over this place. We tried it on a whim a couple of months ago, and I'm so glad we did! The service is always top notch - friendly and efficient! We visited this morning for brunch and took the last table in the restaurant. We figured it may take a while to get our food due to being so crowded, but it came out barely 5 minutes after ordering. Metro has easily become our favorite breakfast spot! read more
