Was led here by my new mortal enemy, Yamir, under the pretense that there was a "Scratch Kitchen" within walking distance to our hotel. After Yamir humiliated the rest of our group on the walk to the restaurant via a chance encounter with a rival fan base, I was surprised to see us walking up on a Cheddar's. I have tried chedders 3 times now twice dinning in and once with delivery I can give my official review now. Both dine in sessions were great servers were on par fast, courteous and reliant for first timers. We ordered the the fried fish platter and the country fried steak with gravy. Both orders came out fresh hot more than I thought. I could eat it did not know the serving. Would be so large very much appreciated. Each visit dining inn was equally adequate to the first.Definitely.Will be a go 24 my family or date night times. I know delivery can be a risk but we ordered the family platter from the app for the chicken strips, which came with 2 large family sides. Those wonderful croissants and dips it came hot crunchy fresh within an hour. And did not cost an arm in a leg for delivery. Even though the evening we visited was heavy with rain and thunderstorms, this restaurant was still fairly packed. We were seated quickly and our server was available to take our order. Our server was attentive and very busy as he was serving all the tables in the bar alone. He was friendly and helpful with menu choices and advice. I was in the mood for fish and Cheddar's Cornmeal White Fish is excellent as well as their Red Beans & Rice. I was seated under their infamous fans and very near the aquarium. Their aquarium is super clean. I've had many aquariums but I'm not familiar with the black species in their tank. The fish chase each other around frequently which makes for interesting views. The parking lot was 95% full yet inside there were many tables available so one can only assume folks meet each other here for lunch thus giving a false impression there may be a waiting time for a table which was not the case at all. So yes I ordered my favorite Cornmeal White Fish with Green Beans and Red Beans & Rice. You get five fillets of fish at lunchtime. They used to have a smaller lunch portion but I believe both meal times now offer the same amount of fillets. The fish was perfect as always. The green beans did not taste like they usually do. The red beans & rice were excellent. They tasted a little bit salty on my first bite but I never noticed it after that. Another menu item I really love here is their Chicken Pot Pie. There is a TV screen over the hostess station that shows some of their more popular menu items. Service was good and friendly throughout my time inside this establishment. I want to say I've always liked Cheddars. Lasr week I had the worst meal. Both of us ordered sirloin tips over mashed potatoes. They were tough and no flavor. Weird that it had gravy and they put sour cream on the gravy. server rarely checked on us and didn't ask how it was. I forgot my sweater and when I went back I told them about our meals. We had a problem with the meal given to my granddaughter. It was fish sticks instead of chicken fingers. She is allergic to fish but luckily we had meds to give her and ward off a bad reaction. The manager, kitchen manager and waitress were all so attentive, kind and concerned. Thanks for being so good to us and we are sure all of us learned a good lesson to be more attentive going forward. Her and the other employees were bantering, which I always enjoy: knowing that the employees get along and can support one another. I've never had a bad experience at a Cheddar's, but it was the first time at this location. Everything came out timely and HOT. I ordered the chicken pot pie and some fries, with the complimentary croissant of course. I'm always amazed by the prices. Music was a good mix of old and new, without being too loud. Servers in the bar are knowledgeable, helpful, and they do a great job. Love the french fries and the salads. A nice twist on Thousand Island dressing. Every time I've taken a to-go order from Cheddar's in Avon, the bar staff has all but earned a full tip with speed, accuracy, setting the level of expectation, and making sure food portions are generous and really nicely packed. It was a nice modern very clean restaurant that seems to stay busy. When you arrive they give you a Honey Butter Croissant on the house. These were hot and tasty and were very buttery. We ordered a Sirloin Steak and it comes with 2 sides as part of the meal. Plenty of side dishes to select from. My wife had the 6oz cut and I had the 8oz. Both steaks were very well prepared - good flavor soft cut of meat cooked exactly the way we ordered it (Med Rare). My wife and I ordered a loaded baked (Butter, Sour Cream & Shredded Cheese) as one of our sides. I upgraded for an additional $1 to a House Salad for my second side (good size side salad) and my wife had the country green beans. Definitely enough food for the both of us and it did not break the bank. Very reasonable priced meal. We had a great server also. Tried for the first time, it was pretty good. The cheese dip unfortunately has onions in it! The chicken was decent and crispy! We sat and had a couple drinks off of their $5 menu, which included a "Tito's and cranberry" and a "Margarita"! Both were alright, the Tito's was heavy on the cranberry, the marg was heavy on the tequila! I had a kids penne, it was decent size and came with a piece of garlic bread! Excellent meal on the southside. We have come here a number of times and it never disappoints. The only real issue is getting in and out of the parking lot. Tons of construction causes many issues and since there is really only one way in, it's really hard. However, after getting in, everything gets so much better. They start with incredible sweet buttered rolls -amazing! Then we had a delicious chips and spinach dip. Ions of chips, cheese and spinach, sour cream and salsa. For dinner, I got the chicken tenders. Hot and juicy with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. My wife got baked white fish with broccoli and vegetables. It was fresh and delicious. My wife and I were invited to Cheddars and we were excited to go. It had been awhile since our last visit so we were looking forward to it. Upon arrival, my wife decided to try the beer battered fish. It arrived but the breading was very thin and appeared to be another type of breading. We mentioned this to the server. She offered to get us something else. My wife was pretty happy about this because she saw that the salmon on the menu indicated that you could have it cooked to temperature. My wife stated medium rare to the server and said just searing it on both sides should be adequate. The salmon came to our table missing the glaze that was described on the menu and had been well done. My wife did enjoy the sides but the server took the salmon back after asking if something was wrong with it. The server stated she thought searing it meant cooked all the way. We were charged for the uneaten fish but we paid it since she ate the rice and broccoli which she enjoyed. I did speak with the manager and advised that the staff might be unaware that fish can be ordered at different temperatures and not just, "cooked all the way". read more
