I love Metro Diners, alot of good food for affordable prices. I usually get the chicken tenders but tried the new chicken parm, 2 pieces and penne for $11.99, tasty, such a deal. Service from Anna was excellent. AC was way too cold.

Saturday morning and we go out to our table right away. I've never eaten here passing through town. I had the avocado toast and my girlfriend had bacon and eggs, she had a bloody Mary and it was naked, not one piece of vegetable or olive in it and it was so delicious. our waitress was moving Taylor and she was a delight.

Well when we pulled in and saw the large number ofbfolks out in front of the restaurant, we were like maybe not. But we found a parking spot and walked in and got sat down right away!! See if everyone in your party isnt there they will make you wait till everyone is there before the seat you. Ordered an amazing western omelette, and the wiffe orsered somw pancakes and sausage and gravy. There was so much food she actually had to take some home. And my omelet had so much meat and veggies in it probably one of the best omelets i have had in Gainesville. And our server was very busy but made sure to check in on us regularly . Seemed like all the servers were helping each other and they all were froendly as well. Now i know why the parking lot is so packed when i drive by.Worth the stop if your in the area And breakfast is All Day. Win Win!!

I usually like this restuarant but I ordered some pancakes for pick up and was really disappointed with how it was set up. They use Styrofoam packaging for everything, which is an issue but I would normally not deduct stars for this. However, they placed my very hot pancakes into the Styrofoam container and the bottom pancakes melted the Styrofoam badly. You are not supposed to put hot foods in Styrofoam because it melts the plastic and then you end up eating it.... and this plastic can cause serious health issues over time like cancers and thyroid issues, not to mention who wants to eat pancakes with an extra helping of plastic? I understand being busy, but please do not do this. If anything, put heat safe wax paper/parchment paper between the hot food and the Styrofoam so you arent accidentally poisoning your customers :(

Metro Diner in Gainesville is our go-to spot for breakfast or brunch whenever we visit UF. It's the perfect mix of a classic greasy spoon with plenty of hearty, indulgent options and healthier choices if you want them. The portions are generous, the food always comes out hot and fast, and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's clearly a local favorite--students, families, and Gainesville regulars all pack the place--so be prepared to wait a bit, especially on weekends. Totally worth it though. The atmosphere is super casual, "cap on" kind of place, which makes it even more comfortable. It's what a great diner should be, southern style. Always a family favorite for us!

The waitress that took the takeout order did not give it to me when it was put out for pickup but she did say goodbye when I was leaving. I ordered fish and chips and the fries were old , cold, and uneatable . You should not be preparing meals for people if you don't have professional standards for all your customers. This is the second time this has happened . Two weeks ago I got chicken tenders and fries and the fries were old, cold, and uneatable then .

This seems to be a fav spot for locals. Totally packed early on a weekend and the people just kept coming. Located in a strip mall with easy parking. Both inside and patio seating offered. Staff here is amazing, capable and efficient. One particularly effervescent guy was literally cleaning up a spill on the floor, taking orders, and delivering food with panache and a contagious energy. Ordered the bacon avocado scramble and meat lovers scramble. Portions were adequate and food tasty. Nothing was fancy, but it was good and pricing was reasonable. Several of their dishes come with hollandaise sauce on it (which was a good tasting hollandaise), but it's a lot of it so if you're unsure how you feel about it, request on the side. If you're gluten-free they seem to be really good about knowing the options and ensuring safety. GF toast and buns are available. They even offered to cook my hash browns in a separate skillet. If you haven't tried Metro Diner, it's worth stopping by.

This will last me for breakfast, lunch and probably more!

I enjoyed an early Saturday morning breakfast at Metro while sitting and relaxing at the counter. Kyle was my excellent server and he was very helpful and attentive while letting me relax. Thanks Kyle! The eggs, grits, sausage, toast breakfast was well presented and perfectly cooked. One of the cool things about sitting at the counter was I got to watch the cooks do their thing. They were on it!! Life is good with a nice delicious relaxing breakfast with excellent service.

I was worried it was gonna be a long wait since it was Easter Sunday but got seated right away and food came out quickly! Got the chicken and waffles and it was good.

An impromptu, spur of the moment motorcycle ride to Gainesville brought us to the Metro Diner. It's located at the end of a small strip mall on SW 34th St. This was our first visit, and to avoid a wait we opted to sit outside. We started with a cheese curd (fried) appetizer, and they were promptly delivered and cooked nicely. I ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad and Dawn got avocado toast with one egg. The outside area was nice, with a lite breeze and fans circulating the air. It's pet friendly and the dogs were well behaved and fun to watch. It's close to the road but traffic noise was a minimum. Sam our waitress was good, and cordial, she also made several trips to our table to check on us. Everything was well cooked, well prepared and quite palatable. We will keep the Metro Diner in mind for future dinner dates. The ONLY downside was being on the bike, with no room for leftovers :-) The prices were decent and Comparable to the area.

I am feeling generous with the 5 stars but definitely higher than 4. It's casual, friendly and relaxed. Service is very prompt and everything is made to order. Poached eggs were perfect. Hollandaise sauce was perfect, chicken a little salty but that's ok. Great place for breakfast or all day. I have been here before and glad I came back

Do they provide a gluten free menu?

No gluten free menu, but I read on their website where they will do gluten free substitutions whenever possible.

Can dogs sit outside with us? Or no dogs allowed anywhere?

She beat me to it. They'll even bring a cup/bowl of water for your canine if you ask. No dogs inside unless they're service dogs.

    Can I make a resrvation?

No, but the wait is usually not very long & there are front benches to utilize. The table turnover is actually pretty quick. And there's usually a table available outside if you don't mind eating in the side patio area-- metal tables & chairs.

Do you deliver? Can I order online?

Seating is divided between indoor and outdoor patio. Order at the counter, get a number and then they will bring food out to you. Self serve water is available inside. We were there a busy day. Wait to order wasn't too bad and we found a table outside, but nobody was bussing any tables so basically customers sitting down were left clearing the dishes from the table of the people before them & wiping down the table. Nobody from the restaurant came out to help or apologize and it wasn't until dishes were almost toppling out of the bin that anyone took them away. Menu is pretty diverse - you can get some traditional items or more eclectic. We ordered the green goddess salad, croque mademoiselle (ham & cheese sandwich) on gluten free bread & okonomiyaki (japanese pancakes with cloud eggs). It took probably 30 min to get our food. The food presentation is really lovely & feels special when it's delivered. However, taste left something to be desired. The Japanese pancakes weren't good. The egg specifically looked really pretty all puffed up, but was so bad none of us were willing to have more than one bite. There were some other funky flavors going on there as well that detracted from enjoying it. The ham & cheese sandwich was okay, but the cheese is put on the outside, including a runny cheese, so it's a total mess to try and eat. Definitely do not order this one on a date! We ended up just eating the inside portion. It does come with a small green goddess type salad, which is nice. The entree green goddess appeared great when delivered. Loved the light, fresh dressing and ingredients. However, lots of the lettuce had sort of rotting tips, which made me worried to eat it especially since this isn't the cleanest place. Despite appreciating the quirkiness of the restaurant and the selection of fresh options they offer, we won't be returning.

I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better!
