Food was ok but menu has really been cut back and service was subpar. We had a better experience and enjoyed the food more at the Cape Coral location. This was a disappointment. read more

Matthew was our server this morning and he was great!!! The food was very good. We had an hour wait, but it is worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love love this place,in Pembroke Pines, staff is spectacular, manager is awesome, they know me and my husband by name, and food is GREAT.

I've been here a couple times and the food and service is great! My waitress Kayce Whitbeck was very polite and great. I had the waffles which were amazing and I came also for the three egg breakfast I kinda disliked how the hashbrowns were really burned however. I'll drop by for another meal I'm sure! read more

Metro Diner was so good! So much food, and all so delicious. We kind of wanted a light lunch, which is not at all what you get here--but it was worth it! Phenomenal grilled cheese, chicken salad, etc. I had fries with mine, but I missed out on the real deal: house made potato chips dipped in ranch. Luckily, my mom shared. Be still, my heart--I miss those chips. read more

Service is great here - Food came out quickly and in good portions. I thought the eggs were well cooked, bacon definitely could have been crispier (but that's a personal preference). Great place for breakfast . read more

Stopped by this place for a quick breakfast this AM, and while it wasn't exactly quick, it sure was darn tasty. It was also quite massive. I studied the menu 3 days ago in anticipation of our visit (I like to be prepared to make the best possible decision. I may have a problem ) and had my sight set on the lox and bagel, it was really pulling my chain. Unfortunately, I was informed that this location does not have this item as part of an agreement with Bagels Unlimited, since share space in the same strip mall. Oh man. Good thing I had a back up plan. I got the breakfast burrito sans cheese, add avocado, and was not disappointed. First, it was incredibly large and I could only finish about half so you may want to split entrées, unless you are for reals hungry. Got the hash browns and a side of grits too. Both were pretty solid. I am always impressed when folks actually season the grits and these were great. My burrito was good, but nothing really special. I will continue to shop around the menu. The husband's omelet was very good (Greek, added mushrooms). There is some opportunity in the drink game of this place. I found the coffee to be very poor and the grapefruit juice I ordered was gross (seemed unnatural and sweetened), but the food was super tasty and I would definitely return! read more

The food here is amazing!! Our first visit and the staff made us feel so welcome. Honestly, so many things look good on this menu that you can't really go wrong. We had to wait a bit for a patio seat but it was worth it!! Don't miss this if you are in town for a visit! read more

The food here lives up to the reputation. The chicken and waffles is delicious. I personally like the shrimp and grits. Even though it's marked as a special, the potato soup is one of the best I've had in a while (very chunky). It has a huge dinner and college vibe. read more

I love this place. The only negative isn't even their fault. They're so good that there's always a line. We come in and order our food to go so we can skip the line. The chicken and waffles entree is great. Especially when they put the hot sauce in the syrup! Amazing! read more

Stopped here with the kids and got in pretty quickly. Definitely fills up on a weekend morning as is kind of cramped inside with the tables close together. The breakfasts are good although not great. The service was better than average. Would stop by again. read more

Love this diner! always fast service and very friendly!!!! Saturday Mornings and Sundays are always pretty busy with a wait of about 30 mins but it's worth it. read more

This place is fast, efficient and the people friendly. We were attended to as soon as we walked in and got our tables soon. We ordered the challenge pancake, the fruity waffle and a side of hash browns. It was weird to eat like warm hash browns. I wish they were warmer. The Waffle and the pancake were good though. The pancake was so fluffy ! And yes, it's huge. read more

We are just getting introduced to Gainesville with our college first year. Breakfast was great we had the stuffed French toast which I recommend sharing unless you are jogging back to campus! Staff was awesome and although they were really busy the wait was not bad at all. Definitely a must stop! Plus they do take reservations which is great in a college town. read more

Average food, lack of service and too loud. Made a request to turn it down but it fell on deaf ears. I don't get it. The customer comes in to have an enjoyable conversation but must shout over the foreground music. 6:30 am and 6-7 customers there and the music is so damn loud. Seriously owner/manager. Really. No one came by to check how things were after the food was served and the request to turn down the noise. Will not return. read more

Outstanding service. Good safety precautions. Use the app for the virtual "wait in line" if it's busy. I love the Avocado toast. I also like to order the grilled chicken tenders (off the menu). read more

Great food, very busy so service can be slow. But overall excellence. Prices are fair.

Such a great diner. Sat at the bar area and watched the bustle of the kitchen. Great food good people. read more

Cute little diner in gainesville. My dad always asks about coming here wherever he's in town. Quick staff and good service. The food usually comes on a pretty big plate that we almost never finish. Traditional diner food but nothing out of the ordinary. Definitely recommend for family breakfast or lunch. read more

There's always a line and the wait is always long. Food is definitely on the pricier side but it's not too bad. Good spot for brunch.

I love this Diner!!! What a fab place in a Great spot! Located just across the street from the UF campus, I'm sure during the school year this place must get packed! My hubby had this standard, eggs over medium, rye toast, hash browns and bacon. Absolute perfection. Everything was cooked beautifully. I on the other hand am watching my waist and my cholesterol. I ordered the Greek omelette with egg whites and toast and home fries!!! OMG!! Light fluffy eggs, crispy homefries. Such a delight!! Oh and the prices are reasonable. meh. Food was undercooked and not very good. Service was great, had no problems with the employees. Overall the food was bland and not cooked. Long wait for food that wasn't cooked. About 30 minutes after I ate here I, along with the other person I ate with, got very sick and had to stop on the side of the road and throw up. Do not eat here. read more

The portion size is ridiculous! Its shameful to serve this much food as 1 serving. Geez, is so much food going in the trash? Everything should come in a half order; why isn't this an option? I hate wasting food just as much as my husband hates eating the same thing/sharing a dish. You can't really save leftover breakfast either... rubber eggs, soggy toast nah. We'd consider eating here regularly if it weren't for the large portion sizes and long wait time. If you are a gorger this is your spot. Let me know when you can order half portions! read more

This place is amazing. I go here with my uncle almost every time we eat out, and it still doesn't get old because there's so much variations you can get. I think the meatloaf plate is really good, the fried chicken sandwich is good, also the chicken and waffles. I mean basically everything is good. I wouldn't get the fish n chips though, they aren't bad but I'm pretty sure it's just frozen fish sticks that aren't exceptional and there is better food there. Also any of their breakfast stuff is good. Also they have these key lime mints for when your done that are really good. read more

AMAZING food, super great service (we were seated within 15 minutes on a PACKED Sunday morning), and overall a great experience! I'll definitely be back once I start school at UF in the fall read more

Come here HUNGRY! Their portions are HUGE so they are totally shareable. Good for hungry students, you can have plenty of left overs, or stuff yourself sick or if money is tight you and your friends can put your money together and share a meal, Lol. The food is really yummy and worth the wait, if there is a wait time. I've been to their locations in St. Augustine and Jacksonville and all of them are great, too. read more

This is worth driving from NC for!!! I had the chicken and waffles that were fantastic...I never had them before, and I don't think I will ever order them again, because I don't think anyone will be able to make them that good!!! Lol I was looking at everything they brought out, and I almost wanted to stay until I got hungry again...lol will definitely go out of my way to come here again!!! Oh...the staff was excellent too...everyone was so nice :) read more

Amazing. We stopped on our way through Gainesville and didn't expect much but we left full and happy. Short wait, good price, HUGE portions. The chicken and waffles were THE BEST we've ever had, and the service was wonderful. Our fantastic waiter Zach even came by to make their special syrup for the chicken & waffles before the food came. The syrup was crazy good too. The Strawberry Shortcake Waffle was to die for. All around fantastic restaurant. read more

Ok I am normally a bit cautious with these types of places that seem to have a lot of hype. I must say that I went straight for the chicken and waffles and was not disappointed at all. Enough for two or three people on one order. Of course one could eat it by themselves but that would just be gluttonous (I ate it all). The wait staff and kitchen staff were amazing. Defiantly a place to keep on the list when visiting Gainesville. read more

I've been here three times, ordering different dishes each visit. I feel like I can now fairly say that Metro Diner has extremely below average food. This was by far the most disappointing experience of them all. I got the avocado toast, I'm honestly not sure how someone looked at this and thought it was okay to serve. I've had many avocado toasts in my time, and none of them have ever been brown. read more

Wowwwwwwww! The service here is equal to the FANTASTIC food. The wait time can be a bit long on a Sunday afternoon. (Not sure about week days.) But, you can go on open table and reserve your time there. I had Charleston Shrimp and Grits. The portion is very generous. Like all diners breakfast is available all day. Look at the board for the specials. The manager, Richard, stopped by the table to personally welcome me and ask if I was enjoying my meal. Very nice touch! The staff was very professional, fast and friendly. (A positive reflection of the leadership team here) I didn't have to ask for more coffee or a to go box as these were offered by my waitress. I definitely recommend this spot. Can't wait to come back next week when I'll be here again. read more

The portion size is way more than you can ever hope to eat and be happy to take home some for later. The Rubens are warm completely through they're not flat and squishy they're thick; their salad dressing is homemade and it is just melt in your mouth wonderful! The french fries are like my grandma used to make and they are real they're not frozen. The service was awesome, checking in, keep up with refills on drinks, knowledgeable on menu and food. Very friendly and welcoming!! Great place to take your family!!! read more

In Gainesville on business and went to Metro Diner Sunday morning for breakfast. We got there about 8:45 and there was already a wait to sit inside, so we opted for the patio and got immediate seating. Only 5 tables were occupied out there and 3 had dogs! Folks, leave your pet at home when you go to a restaurant!! It makes people who have been bitten before very nervous, especially if your pet is a large pit bull!! We were served quickly and the food was very good. I had eggs, bacon, cheese grits, and pancakes--huge amount of food, but very delicious. DH had the breakfast burrito, hold the cheese. He enjoyed it very much. The lady at the table beside us had chicken and waffles and her serving was huge! We would definitely go again. Oh, BTW, hazelnut coffee is more than regular coffee. read more

The food was definitely worth the wait. When we arrived there was a 35 min wait but we were entertained by a violinist outside. We received our food very quickly considering how popular this establishment is. I highly recommend going here for brunch! read more
