I had a horrible experience with the Metro Diner Brandon location. We ordered two Philly cheesesteaks, and one arrived without cheese. When I called to speak with a manager, the woman on the phone was extremely rude and accused me of lying--without ever seeing the sandwich. My spouse even took the sandwich back to the restaurant, yet the staff still refused to resolve the issue or take accountability. We've frequently spent money there for weekend breakfast without any problems, but the evening staff was unprofessional, disrespectful, and made us feel racially discriminated against. They told us to contact DoorDash for a refund, even though DoorDash only delivered the order--the restaurant prepared it incorrectly. The grilled cheese sandwich was extremely greasy, it has slid apart in the container before we ever got it. I talked him into trying it at least he did not like it and I tried a bite as well. He was right it was extremely greasy and a little bit burnt. I got him to try the green beans oh my goodness they were extremely long with big beans inside. It look like somebody had actually just dropped the green beans in a Boiling Pot of water. I got to cut those up and he ate about half of them this is a 15-year-old by the way. He was excited to have the pickle. He likes pickles so do I. Not this pickle it was hot and limp. My friend got the roast turkey in dressing potatoes and other green beans. She said the turkey was delicious the mashed potatoes were Brown and suspicious, and the dressing was too smooshy it was like eating cornbread mush she said. It was something her grandmother used to serve her for breakfast. She also complain about the green beans. I had the teriyaki beef bowl it had a good flavor to it the rice was nice the sauce was delicious my only complaint on this one was there was too many green onions on top. Need to listen to say I am embarrassed I even thought of getting food delivered from there. The 15-year-old will be getting McDonald's I guess Lord explain to me why I'm trying to get the people to eat healthier and that just once I like to have a restaurant make something decent I don't care how much it cost. First time visit to this location, I've only been to the one from DDD in Jacksonville. I was pleasantly surprised to see there was no line on an early Sunday morning. I went in because I was hungry and curious. I came out happy and thankful. This cute and classic diner is in the same shopping plaza as Homegoods and Aldi... on the northeast end, in the old gym location. There's tons of parking and despite being near the busy Lumsden and Providence intersection, it feels peaceful. I stopped in on a Friday morning around 8:30 and immediately liked the ambiance. It's bigger inside than I expected-with lots of light flooding in the windows. They had some fall/Thanksgiving decorations up. It was just so welcoming. And so was the gentleman in the spectacular egg-patterned pants who showed me to my seat. He's a joy. Then came my incredible server, Danielle. She's top notch! She was warm and friendly, gave me some background on the place (so appreciated!!), some tips on the process and suggestions on meals. I felt so empowered to make good decisions. She checked on me often-brought refills of Diet Coke and sent me home with a fresh one in a to go cup. (She gets me!) I can tell you, this franchise started in Jacksonville and blew up when it appeared on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." It's known for its fried chicken and meatloaf. And you can order anything off the menu, any time of day. Which reminds me: the food! I ended up going with the fish fry Friday. Two pieces of fried fish, french fries, it comes with coleslaw but you can sub out for that (I went with green beans) and on Friday, you get a cup of soup or a house salad. I went with the chicken noodle soup-which is always available (they also have a soup du jour) and *excellent! I ate every drop. Those green beans were great, too-good snap! Most of the fries were good-slightly crispy/perfect amount of salt-but the last few weren't quite done. No matter. The fish was fine-generous portion. I thought the prices were very fair and it was so clean and cozy in there. All of the specials looked intriguing... and I really want dig into that breakfast menu. I think you can even get mimosas! Came here with my fiancé on a Saturday morning. It was pretty busy. We had to wait about 1520 minutes to get seated as expected. One thing I did notice upon entering the strong smell of chicken and waffles. It smell delicious once we got seated the waitress explained that they are known for their chicken and waffles. I personally did not get them, however did see others who had it and it was huge and looked phenomenal. It had some sort of strawberry butter as well. I recommend the cheese grits here. Made with stuffing so they were savory. The variation I chose had 2 huge chicken tenders covered in sausage gravy. This was very good. Chicken was great, super crispy and moist inside. The sausage gravy was flavorful and was a nice blend with the waffle. We also had a western omelette. This was very good. Fruit that came with was good and fresh. Sometimes "fresh fruit" is not good, but Metro was not that way. Nice and crisp and we finished. Also came with a homemade biscuit. Woww! Generous portions and delicious. Our gang ordered a cinnamon swirl pancake, carrot cake waffle, crab cake Benedict and a couple of breakfast platters. We also got a side of biscuits and gravy to share. The five of us had enough left to feed another couple of hungry people. The waffle and pancake were perfect. The Benedict was a plate cleaner. The platters had perfect over easy and over medium eggs, crisp bacon, Generous hash browns and a choice of toasts, both of which we got were delicious. It was our first time visiting a Metro Diner. It's so nice to see this new location in the Brandon area. There's no longer a need to visit the one in Tampa. Let's just say that the parking situation is much better in Brandon. Our first impression was a good one. It's clean and inviting. We were greeted immediately, and seated at a booth table as requested. It was a busy Tuesday morning. Devante was our server. He was great with offering seasonal menu suggestions, and making sure that we had a great experience. The house blend coffee is pretty good here. I love that the half & half creamer was automatically brought to the table with the coffee. It wasn't that flavored stuff that they call creamer that sits on the table all morning long. Thank goodness for that! I've been to some establishments that leave the half & half out all morning. Yuck! The seasonal flavored coffee was pumpkin spice. I wasn't a fan of it because it tasted kind of weak. I ended up asking for a refill of the house blend to top it off. It actually tastes better blended with the stronger house coffee. The Pumpkin Griddles on the seasonal menu comes with your choice of pancakes or a Belgian waffle. The pancakes were delicious! The cream cheese icing, candied pecans, and cinnamon butter made it so memorable. It didn't even need the warm maple syrup that was provided. My husbands Biscuits & Sausage Gravy definitely tasted like it was house made. We confirmed that it truly is made in house. The biscuits are fluffy, and the sausage was plentiful in the gravy. The eggs are large, and cooked exactly the way he wanted it. They have Tabasco sauce. You just have to ask for it if it's not already on the table. My hubby was being a goofball while displaying it in one of the pictures. The home fries were average. In all fairness, the small taste that I had may have been affected by a drop of his Tabasco sauce. I'll let you know about the hashbrowns (or grits) at our next visit. Overall, we really enjoyed our breakfast experience at Metro Diner. They also give military discounts, which is very much appreciated. We will be returning for more breakfast and lunch dates. When we found out Metro Diner was coming to Brandon we were excited to try it! I was absolutely thrilled they have a spot here in Brandon. Since coming to Brandon, visited atleast 3-4 times and each time was not disappointed. Metro Diner is in a plaza that you would missed if you didn't live in Brandon - it's tucked away in the far end corner on Lumsden Road, plenty of parking and other shops to visit. The place can get packed and also dining room can be quite loud, but who needs to talk when you are eating great food. One visit - I had the Shepherd's pie, which is hot and cooked to perfection. My daughter got the hamburger salad, which I thought odd but she said it was quite tasty. Second visit - got the burger and it was such a good burger. Third visit - took my mother got the chicken salad and woah! The chicken blew my mind. It was one of the best chicken I had: light, flaky, moist and and not at all salty. The greens wasn't too impressive, felt too little and not crisp to match the chicken, but it was good. Definitely would recommend anything fried chicken.
