In the shopping center on the corner of Bloomingdale Ave & Bell Shoals Road you will find First Watch. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the loveliest hostess!! I learned from our server her name is Mahogany. Our server Abigail is also extremely sweet and very attentive. She has an assistant with her who is just as lovely. I ordered the Avocado Toast with a side of the Million DollarBacon. It was delicious as always! The coffee was HOT which was greatly appreciated! I find at every other First Watch I've been to the coffee is lukewarm at best. The only negative thing I have to say is, it was uncomfortably cold in the restaurant. I notice it's not just here but all the First Watch Restaurants seem to be on the chilly side. I would not hesitate to go back to this location. We sat on the patio which was wonderful with plenty of fans to keep the air moving. Vibe was much quieter outside than inside the restaurant. The food was excellent, came out hot and well seasoned. Million dollar potatoes are a must try, breakfast potatoes with parmesan cream and garnished with bacon. Cinnamon chip pancake off the seasonal menu was good as well, didn't even need syrup! They forgot our honey butter biscuit appetizer, though we had plenty of food and it was taken off our bill. Our service was a bit short with us and didn't check back very often. First off. The server was very rude. She brought us water in a bottle with no ice. When I asked for ice she gave me a very dirty look but said ok. Then she never brought it. When we ordered the soup I asked for turned out to be out. When I asked what I could get instead she said greens. I asked what else and she acted like I was stupid and should have known. Nothing else but breakfast potatoes. That was the last we saw her until she brought the bill. Someone else brought our food. We ordered the turkey club. The bacon was so overcooked it was hard. The tomato soup we had to settle for was very watery luke they were trying to stretch it out for the day. The last thing was when we paid the bill and she saw the tip (due to her service) she gave me another dirty look. That is when I informed her why we left a small tip due to her attitude. We love this place and come often but today it was lacking. We joined the line on the app and had to wait only about 10 minutes for a table outside. Once we were greeted we were ready to order. We got the Cinnamon milk toast drink and a Bloody Mary. We also ordered the seasonal honey biscuits for an appetizer. As well as the seasonal pancake and the traditional. The service was slow. We got our drinks and the server didn't come back until after our entrees came out. My husband was waiting to order another drink and we had never gotten our appetizer. The server was so quick to walk away I didn't get to ask for jam for my toast (which normally automatically comes with the toast here). The turkey sausage was also very dry and tough. It appeared like they got a new brand and it wasn't as good. The server also dropped the check without checking to see if we wanted anything else. First Watch is one of my favorite places for breakfast or brunch; it's one of those places that never disappoints, especially with the rotating seasonal specials menu (my favorite). The atmosphere is pleasant, cozy, and the service is always good. Its farmhouse and elegant decor make a nice combination. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and it never disappoints; everything is always delicious and fresh. Most dishes come with a side salad, toast, fruit, or potatoes. A good tip is to get in line online because on weekends, especially holidays, it gets very crowded. read more

First time trying our local First Watch. Several locations in our area but none seem to be crowded during the morning rush so we decided to give it a try. We found the inside clean and were seated immediately. The service was mediocre as well as the food. Potatoes only offered one way, limited selection from the menu and every dish between 13 and $15. No one from management was available in the dining area and the fountain drinks/coffee available at maximum pricing. We appreciate the sausage patties being Apple chicken but would really prefer regular pork sausage patties as an option. Otherwise it had a bait and switch appearance to it. For anyone wanting a quick breakfast under 10 bucks they would be very disappointed. We could not get out under 50 bucks as hard as we tried. We were in town to visit our son and attend a USF soccer game. Decided to drop in to this restaurant for breakfast due to its proximity to the auto shop where we had to leave our rental car for service. We were seated immediately; our server was very pleasant. The restaurant was clean and spacious; there is also outside dining available. The meals however, were "so-so". My husband ordered the farmhouse hash with pancakes, my son ordered the market hash, my daughter ordered the elevated egg sandwich with grits, and I ordered the farm stand breakfast tacos. The and the eggs on my tacos were a bit bland; the grits were surprisingly "watery" (expected creamy grits). I eat at First Watch all the time. I tried the Bloomingdale location for the first time on Uber eats & it was terrible. I ordered the Market Hash and not only did they forget to add most of the ingredients listed but the onions and potatoes were burnt together and extremely greasy. Usually First Watch is a safe choice for me. I know it's always going to be good ( at the Brandon location ) This experience at the Bloomingdale location was extremely disappointing - maybe I need to dine in to get a good experience? You can't go wrong with First Watch...this location is no exception. I had my favs: kale tonic and morning meditation with the delicious double crunch tacos(ordered a second round), prime rib hash(good but not for everyone; I would prefer a different protein), and cinnamon chip pancake(cooked just right, good amount of flavor). This review is about their new Bloomingdale Square location. This one is on Bell Shoals and Bloomingdale. I've been to the one on Lumsden/Causeway Blvd and wrote a very nice 5 star review. I was hoping that this would be the same experience, but sadly not today. The food was about 3.5 today and the service was not so great. I'm giving them some slack because it's a new location. I also liked the atmosphere and the fact that it's the first location that has a cocktail menu. So, let me get the negative stuff out of the way. It was a long wait for the food. Yes, they were busy at 11:15am. We got our coffee right away and noticed that there was no half and half. We asked for it, and the server forgot. Mom doesn't like the flavored creamers which were already on the table. I had to remind her again about it. She did apologize. We got the half and half, as well as my order of the BLT Benedict. Just my order, which arrived lukewarm at best. My mother's French Toast hadn't arrived yet. I was half way through my brunch order when my mother's dish arrived and no maple syrup. Then we had to ask for maple syrup. Fortunately mom liked what she ordered and the syrup arrived nice and warm. She was happy but commented on how bad the service was today. Not a great first impression but hopefully it's all worked out by the next visit. On the positive side, they had a Ginger Snap coffee drink that was really unique. It has fresh ginger, cold brew coffee, and Oatley oat milk with a rim of candied ginger sugar. It was great! I also saw a signature cocktail called Cinnamon Toast Cereal Milk that contains Rum Haven Coconut Rum. I'm looking forward to trying that next time. They had many other cocktails made with fresh juice and mixed with vodka, as well as drinks with tequila and champagne. There was Kombucha on the menu too. The decor is very nice. The seating is comfortable. The hot coffee wasn't added to our bill. Maybe that was our reward for not complaining. The food is reasonably priced. I'm just hoping that the service/kitchen execution improves because it will be a very busy location. Also, there's plenty of parking which is awesome. We'll return for more. read more

She sends someone out to take our order. Minutes later a different server arrives to bring our drinks and apologize. We receive our food. Some requests were met. Some were not. As we go inside to pay our bill, we notice our server not wearing a mask. He's waiting tables. He even checked us out with no mask. However, every time he came to our OUTSIDE table he wore a mask. Odd, right? The food was mediocre. Portions were small. Service was shitty. Location is ok. The best thing going for them is plenty of inside and outside seating. I patronize First Watch frequently. This restaurant does not accommodate substitutions. I ordered "The traditional" breakfast. I told the waitress that I could not have the bread or potatoes. Could I get avocado instead. This is the brown, not edible avocado I got. She didn't take it back and try to replace it. She charged me full price for the breakfast. I told her I was not going to pay full price for the breakfast. She then adjusted it and discounted me $1.00. I then asked to speak with the manager who tried to convince me that my bill was correct because she gave me a discount for the bread and potatoes and I was not charged for the " brown" avocado. This was my FIRST and LAST time going to this place. So if you are on a restricted diet, DO NOT GO HERE. This avocado belongs in the TRASH, not on a paying customers plate. read more

Borrowing the nautical term for the first shift of the day, the restaurant chain opens for breakfast, the first meal of the day. Back when the chain first opened in the 1980's there were few restaurants focused on breakfast dining. Now there are hundreds of First Watch restaurants, and a strong contender, I enjoy, called KeKe's. We didn't try the Bloody Mary (alcohol cocktails are served here), but did try the Frittata Rustica, a classic style omelet with Kale, roasted Crimini mushrooms, onion, tomatoes topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. The omelet was smaller and thinner than I had imagined, but I was pretty hungry at 10 am. The goodies bunched up a bit at one end, leaving a thinner two-thirds. I feel like I was a victim of management portion control. The hefty third was excellent, though. The included fruit dish was served with sweet ripe fruit. Coffee served was a premium blend. Ciabatta toast was a nice touch. The attractive convenient location is new and clean, but very noisy. We opted for the covered breezeway on a cooler day for Tampa -- a perfect option during Covid-19. First Watch is normally our go to brunch spot. However, if I were to base it off of this meal, I would never return. The potatoes I had with my meal were inedible. They were hard & the seasoning was gross. The server came over & knew right away. He said they had been having problems with them. He offered to take them back & have them cooked more (but mentioned how they haven't been able to cook them enough). It took forever. I finished my meal, which also consisted of some pieces of hard avocado & was overly salted. The potatoes finally came out and were a little better but the bigger ones were still hard in the middle. I asked if these were the new potatoes they were serving. Our server said No, they were just being served while waiting for there regular potatoes & that they had had a lot of them sent back & complaints. He said they were sub par. So my question is why keep serving this sub par mess to your customers! Hoping I wouldn't complain?! That shows your respect for your customers. To top it off on the way out, when asked how the meal was I mentioned how disgusting the potatoes were & the cashier just stared at me! I got charged full price for this wonderful experience. Tbh.. I was going to "The Egg & I" which lasted I found out First Watch replaced it. I was taken back and surprised but super happy because the last time i had first watch was maybe a year again in Knoxville TN. I had no idea we had first watch down here! They completely renovated the interior out and it looks so comfortable and relaxing. The place was packed but the way they designed the floor plan there is a ton of space so you don't feel mashed up with others. On to the food. As soon I was seated outside my waitress had coffee and water with in seconds! She gave me ample time to choose from there well created menu. As far as I saw they have everything for the "try it alls" for the "picky eaters" and kids. I ordered the "Eggs Bennedict with smoked salmon and hollandaise drizzled over" a side of seasoned potatoes black coffee and water. Black coffee - Perfectly roasted and served. For you black coffee drinkers out there... this one is for you! Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon - the bread was a bit soft.. I know I know people usually like softer breads however with salmon, over easy eggs and Hollandaise sauce the bread gets very very mushy and a bit gross to eat so my opinion is they should of baked the bread longer to compensate but that's just me! HOWEVER. Do not let my opinion deter you from this fish because BOY WAS IT GOOD. salmon was prepared perfectly, Hollandaise sauce can be really bad and there's is amazing and balanced. Eggs... easy to make so they're always good. All In all I give this dish 9/10. Side dish of potatoes - a little on the burnt side so I didn't eat them and they were a little under seasoned for my liking. I would order something else perhaps. All in all. GREAT service! The server and waiters/waitresses here are on point. They are very friendly and informative. The food was also great and the coffee... their coffee is amazing. I gave four stars due to the bread and potatoes (easy fixes and some people may even like these items served this way!) other than that. I have been to this First Watch a few times and each time I'm disappointed. Most recently I had a day off and decided to take my son for breakfast. We were seated outside and after receiving our drinks and placing our order, an hour went by. Meanwhile people who came in after us were receiving and enjoying their food. The waitress finally decided to bring our food and it was cold. When I asked her why we waited for so long she gave the excuse that that had many online orders. When I pointed out that the table next to us came after us and had their food she had nothing to say. We decided to leave, and I paid for our drinks. When I said we were cancelled our order she said she would have the manager come to speak with us - he never did. This was so disappointing as I love First Watch, and this is the closest to my home.
