Weird take on Mexican or Tex-Mex or Fusion or whatever you want to call it. They are all about the atmosphere that is kind of modern retro and this is higher priced than Mexican Sugar without the food quality. Our waiter was nice enough, even promoted the Sunday Brunch Drag Show??? Seriously? I would have given this 2 stars had the tab for two people with two drinks not been $128.00 with mediocre food. read more

We had a reservation here for 10 people for a birthday celebration before a show last night. Our waitress, Lisa, was extremely distracted the whole time and was not capable of handling a party of ten. It took 15 minutes to get one drink- i finally went up to ask another associate and the drink had been sitting there on the bar. She also messed up several other orders and we ended up just tabbing out- she made us miss our shuttle so we had to reschedule. When I placed the reservation I let them know that it was for a birthday. Nothing was done or even mentioned about it. Something that 3 of us ate made us all sick as well- we believe it was the flautas, which are actually not flautas at all; They are taquitos. Needless to say we will not be back to this restaurant, there are far too many better options within walking distance. Skip it! read more

New restaurants usually charge out of the gate, with minor bumps along the way, and then stabilize. If this experience was charging... I'm glad I won't be there for the stabilization. If you start out the gate by having to explain your new... Two of us ordered the prawns...completely mush. I had an upcharge for a salad, at $5 for two 3 inch wedges of lettuce, in lieu of the rice. It only took me 42 minutes to get my drink and yes, they still charged me for it. To say the least, I'm all for giving places a shot, but this one won't be revisited. My mom and I had Saturday brunch here, during our stay at the Westin, and it was great! We shared the huaraches and fresh fruit plate, both of which were healthy and delicious. Coffee was also quite good. The decor is, like the rest of the hotel, beautiful. I hope to try their lunch or dinner if we go back again! read more

We walked over from the convention center to grab a drink, chips and salsa but were never waiting on in the bar area. We went to the bar to order our drinks, they never brought us chips. We didn't make it a big deal. Went to lay the tab the bar, which took forever as more affluent clients obviously took priority. When we cashed out my husband handed him $100 bill and the bartender responded with "we aren't a bank". I almost lost it on the guy, but let it go, paid with a card and stiffed him on his tip-that he didn't earn to begin with. All while this was happening another bar top table was brought chips, a trio of salsa, guac and queso. All this to say, we were profiled by the staff, treated with bias bc we weren't dressed to the nine's and looked "blue collar". We won't be back, and will take our government issued food stamps to another establishment. read more

Brought a group of 11 to eat before their first homecoming dance. They had carefully selected this restaurant and were excited to start off their night here. Unfortunately, after waiting an hour and asking a few times for service, they never had their order taken and had to leave to go somewhere else. For the record, it was not busy at all. This is a hotel restaurant with access to the Westin. Even in today's inflation riddled economy and this goofy neighborhood of wannabe hip neighborhood vibe, these prices vs what you get is a joke. read more

I was in Texas visiting from Canada on business and decided to stop in to our hotel restaurant - Mesa Mezcal for drinks with a co worker. The staff was extremely pleasant and very personable. Our server's name was Ali. As a way to start great conversation Ali had written that she was passionate about her dogs on her name tag. That sparked a discussion that immediately connected us and created a very relaxed atmosphere for the evening. Ali provides top notch customer service to all her customers and has an infectious smile and positive upbeat attitude. The food at Mesa Mezcal was excellent. They start by serving you warm nacho chips and homemade salsa dips. I had tried the lunch earlier that day - a chicken soup and tacos. Very good. I highly recommend that you stop in and have lunch, dinner or just a drink and say hello to Ali (ask her about her dogs). Thanks Ali from your new Canadian friends. See on our next trip! read more

Extremely poor service. We waited an hour to pay. We could have walked out and no one would have noticed. When we asked for our dessert (ordered 45 minutes prior), the manager on duty seemed dumbfounded and did not apologize. There are so many other options in the area. Came to have a lunch. Ended up having a couple drinks, Brujita & Diablito. They both tase great! One is mezcal, the other is tequila. Michelle is the best bar tender. She is full of energy and very knowledgeable on the drinks. (FYI, you don't have to have a room here to dine, like most hotel restaurants) read more

I am in the hospitality business, and I was appalled at the experience I had here. I was excited about trying this new place in the area, and brought my friend for a special birthday dinner. I made an Open Table reservation for 6:30, and noted it was a birthday. Called earlier to get parking directions and got a pickup after 8 rings. Arrived at 630 to find valet backed up all the way to the lot entrance but no cars moving. One valet on staff obviously suffering. Took a long while to get parked. Entered restaurant to find no host at host stand. Ever. Stood around for a long while waiting for someone to help; nobody ever acknowledged us. Where was the manager? Walked near the kitchen where a server came out and said he'd be with us in a minute. Sat us at one of their tiny tables situated in a near cafeteria style arrangement, which, if they were busy and sat anyone near us, we'd not be able to have a conversation comfortably. Our server was good, although she hadn't been trained on product knowledge. We asked questions and the answers were less than confident to say the least. She was good though at keeping our drinks full and timing our apps, entrees, and desserts. Her demeanor was pleasant and as helpful as she could be. The chicken flautas were great. Loved those. The salmon was overcooked and the chicken enchiladas had way too much sauce on them to the point where we couldn't taste any chicken or enchilada. All sauce on that one. And the rice tasted like instant rice. The churro was wonderful though! That was the best part of the meal. Also, nothing was mentioned about my friend's birthday at all. Again, where was the manager who is supposed to be checking on tables? Cocktails were ok. Although they were unique, there weren't all that exciting or delicious. Not terrible either. Just meh. The menu itself looked like it had been printed on a color fax machine, crooked, a copy of a copy, and then put through the ringer a few times. Both of our menus were dirty, printed so crooked you couldn't see the bottom part as it was diagonally cut off, the ink was lifting from the paper in some parts, and there were ink spatters in other parts that made it difficult to read. It was comical, but sad and unprofessional especially for a Westin restaurant. When we left, we stood at the valet stand for about 10 minutes (staring at my car that was a short 30 feet away from us). Valet never showed up so we went on a hunt. Found him off to the left behind a couple walls sitting on a bench playing on his phone. He popped up to get our car soon as we announced our presence. I needed change for a 20 to tip him and he gave me four 5 dollar bills. I didn't think he deserved much of a tip after making us hunt him down while he played on his phone, not to mention my car was within spitting distance, and I would have rather him just give me my keys, but I can't bring myself to not tip being in the industry. I told him to bring back some ones and keep three of them, which was awkward, but I do not appreciate him assuming I'm going to give him 5 or more bucks after our experience at arrival and at departure. I won't ever go back there. It's a shame. Was hoping for a really good new restaurant option in my area. Two stars for the server but that's it. read more

I am giving two stars because Maria and Michael were great. Very attentive. The only problem was the chicken. You would think the owners would have tried it first before serving it. I thought it might have been my girlfriend's food was just bad but I got my tacos and they tasted the same. It's great that they want to be unique but it was not for us. read more

Beautiful atmosphere but lacks attentiveness from the staff. 6PM dinner and started off with cocktails. Well those took over 15 mins to arrive at the table. Ordered food and came out cold. Ordered a milkshake for my son and that came at the end of the meal. Very disappointed about the whole experience. Our waitress was no where to be found when we were ready to leave. The restaurant was clean, however, service was not existent. Sat for an hour and a half and never received my food. The hostess avoided eye contact. There were plenty of empty tables but after being sat, it was at least fifteen minutes before getting a half glass of warm water. Another fifteen minutes to get our order taken followed by an hour before we finally had to leave without food. We did get (finally) some chips and wonderful mango salsa, but then had to get up to find someone to all about our food. Only excuses were provided by the hotel manager and hostess; "we over sat guests," "we have only been open three weeks," they are working on it now." Being sat at 11:15... other than chips and salsa, after twenty minutes, but no food ordered was delivered by 12:55 and we left. Note: there were several people leaving from other tables without having gotten their food as well. read more

Headed for lunch on break from the Irving Convention Center, but ended up bonding with co workers over the most ubsurd food service I've ever witnessed! Our table was the first to sit and the last to receive orders during the lunch rush. This is partly because the other tables were dropping like flies! It was like Survivor up in there! Is that even still a thing? People were being chased with tacos in to go bags or chased down to pay for food not yet received. We sat down at 11:30 and were served food at 1:15 that had reportedly been "being plated" for a good hour! We dined at the bar and received above board service from our bartender, Eboni. She was courteous, professional and knowledgeable of a cocktail that my husband could not name. She made it based on his description, and it was perfect. However, the food was far below our expectations. The roasted chicken lacked flavor and heat. The flautas were rubbery and cold.
