The bartender was very knowledgeable and walked me through their extensive beer selection. Many of the beers leaned Belgian, which is just not my style, so I cannot really rate those, but it was clear they know their beer. I ordered their take on a shrimp po boy. It was different and fine, but not something I would specifically seek out again. Oh, this place was like visiting an old friend that I had been missing for a long time! I went to the downtown Dallas establishment for many many years. It was the go-to place for my coworkers and I to go to relax after a long stressful day. Alas, that location was torn down during Covid, and since Irving is not really on my typical foot path I had not been to it even though it has been open for multiple years at this point. Anyway, my coworkers and I looked for a central spot to get together since we now all work remotely, and I settled on trying out the "new" Gingerman. I was pleased to see that they now offer a full bar, and not only beer and wine. This was frequently a complaint for the Dallas location. They also offer a full food menu! Hurrah! Everyone's sandwiches came out well. I ordered the jalapeno poppers and could not finish even one because none of the seeds had been removed, so beware of that menu item. Service was a little sparse. There was only one lady working the entire front of the restaurant when we got there, so to order anything you had to go to the bar. After a while more waitstaff appeared. Parking was a little difficult as there is a small garage with not many spots in it. There is some curbside parking. The space has a lovely patio to enjoy if the weather is nice. There are trees to provide shade. The inside is not particularly large, but there were several tabletops to choose from. We had a VERY VERY disappointing experience at this restaurant. Our group of 7 tried to sit inside, where the indoor was completely empty. Despite that, the server wouldn't allow us to use a six-seat table due to a strict seating policy. We were told to either split up or move outside. Clarissa (I believe that was her name), who mentioned she's originally from Temecula and has lived here for about four years, was incredible. Just got back from their Oktoberfest to celebration had a blast. It was great service. I was impressed with the beer menu. Lots of options to choose from the Stein hoisting was fun, but it just had a nice atmosphere. It seemed kind of small on the inside, but I found that very cozy as long as you find a table I don't think that would be a problem. Service was nice, but not overbearing. The food was tasty. Good quantity for the price I believe just a nice good neighborhood bar I've been looking for one for a while. I think I might've found it. I noticed some happy hour special some brunch. We were walking in the Mandalay Canal and decided to stop here for lunch with my family. Had some subpar service: took a bit just to get water, food took ~45 minutes to come out for a party of 7 (even though it was just us and 2 other tables), had to ask for the check after some time, etc. Our waitress was pleasant but just seemed disorganized. Most of the food items were okay but nothing to write home about. The buffalo chicken sliders were not spicy at all. They were just some breaded chicken tenders tossed in some slider buns. They had no heat to them so wouldn't recommend this dish. It was the same deal with the spicy chicken sandwich. I guess they say it has 'crispy spiced chicken loins' but I think a breaded chicken breast coated in hot sauce would be a better option. The one bright part of the meal was the ultimate bacon jam burger. This was cooked to perfection and the bacon jam in it elevated the texture and mouthfeel of the sandwich. Since I have actually gone to the original Ginger Man, close to Rice University in the late 1980s-early to mid-1990s, I have loved the concept of an English pub and its ambiance for entertainment and in all facets. That original location in Rice Village was a frequent meeting place for me and my friends during my graduate school education at the other major university in town, The University of Houston, where I earned my MBA and Ph.D. in December 1992. From there, I spun the globe, and pointed to the Southern Hemisphere, hoping to land in Australia for my first academic post teaching management and organizational behavior, but wasn't very accurate, landing instead on South Island of New Zealand, and an agricultural university called Lincoln University, in the province of Canterbury, with the magnificent Alps mountains in the distance. I don't think I did too badly and worked for two and a half years till Meningoccemia took hold of my healthy body, and decimated me, and confined me to a wheelchair for life.
