Really quiet place. Nice big open bar counter.

Disclaimer: I'm on a hunt for the best cafe to work from as I'm working remote. My review is based on factors for a good place to work from and not necessarily the coffee or food. Overall okay cafe for work. Noise level - 60db quiet conversation Wifi speed - 1 down 1 up :( Power plugs - more than 10 Seats - 30 indoors Parking - free 10 lots The baristas were very friendly, they will greet you when you enter and leave. They made my day honestly. My coffee came within 5 minutes and was an oat milk flat white. They don't charge extra for oat milk! The place has soft background music and really nice for me to concentrate on my work or to read. The place is spacious, clean, bright and the temperature is kept cool. The bathroom even has a huge world map. The place is also dog friendly - they even offer free dog treats. However the reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because this place has really limited wifi. My browser was struggling to load and definitely no video calls here. I had to work off of my own mobile internet connection at some point. I really enjoyed myself here and will come back for the coffee, ambiance and relax when I'm not relying on the internet.

Needed a place to read for a couple of hours between errands. Came in on a Friday around 10. No line. Service was so friendly. Loved all the baristas. I could see why folks would appreciate this as their neighborhood coffee shop. I splurged on an almond croissant. Omg. It was so good. So worth the thousand or more calories. I ate every last bite. People brought their pups in which I loved but others may not. The couch I snagged was comfortable and I enjoyed relaxing and looking out the window. Oh. And the coffee I chose was divine too!

I LOVE this place. It is decorated in kind of an artsy, but minimal way it's a great vibe. It's a lot quieter in here too, so it's really great for studying and cranking some work done. Their coffee is so good, and the croissants are great as well! The cost is MUCH better too than many of the other houston coffee shops (that are way overpriced). As far as the service goes, everyone is so kind. Graham is so nice too, and always remembers us which is so kind! We love this place! Highly recommend.

I love this place Nested in a little community The coffee is good Service is lovely The vibe is fantastic I love it sooo much

This was after the extra "shot" she poured in

I've come to this coffee shop quite a few times and have never experienced such disrespect. I feel like my intelligence has been questioned.. i ordered an iced brown sugar espresso with oat milk and this is what i got. Yes this is the whole drink... i asked if i could get an extra shot at least and the lady with the short red hair literally poured a tea spoon in... idk if she thinks I'm dumb or if she was just trying to be funny .. I'm a bartender btw lol i know how much a shot is. She actually used the cup that pours a shot in from the machine into the metal cup to pour it into my cup and left majority in the metal cup on purpose.. extremely disappointed. I've been nothing but kind and patient each time coming here and to be blatantly disrespected like this puts a bad taste in my mouth. Don't even want the drink anymore

Nice coffee shop in the Montrose area that has a similar look and feel as Black Hole located several blocks away. Plenty of tables and chairs for seating (though I do wonder who ever uses the indoor swing). Standard coffee and tea menu on offer with a selection of various pastries as well. The space has an artsy feel to it, and I appreciated the style of the barista who was wearing a "Montrose" cap but in the colors, lettering, and style of Marlboro cigarettes. Additionally, I enjoyed the huge world map on the wall of the bathroom (what better place to contemplate one's next international trip than while on the john?). Service was quick, coffee was good, and the place proved to be a quiet place to get some work done. My only hangups with Mercantile are that it was actually a bit too quiet for my liking. I like there to be a bit of background music and a light din of conversation, but things were almost completely silent here like a library. Along with that, the space felt a bit cold and warehouse-like without the cozy vibe that I prefer when at a coffee shop to get some work or studying done. Regardless, I still enjoyed the spot overall and will add it to my list of coffee shops for Montrose.

Good location, excellent study/working spot, lots of parking, quirky interior design (in a good way). The shop is nice and quiet. Lots of seating area. Their wife is strong and they have good wall outlets. Iced matcha ($5.5): it's good to note that it comes sweetened, but it's a solid matcha and I would get it again.

this place has a wonderful atmosphere with a lovely, welcoming barista. it's tucked away in Montrose, feeling hidden in some way. The barista was the sweetest ever. I wish I got her name so I could shout her out. I loved the atmosphere of this place, with their books and decorations. The coffee I had, while good, was nothing really spectacular. But, the kind customer service made it for me. I had a iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. Again, nothing terribly special, (I'm partial to richer espresso blends, and this one didn't have much dimension). It has a bit of an aftertaste. I wouldn't come for the coffee necessarily, rather for the vibes. The coffee is just a plus. If the barista who served me sees this, you were tall with long hair and I came on Thursday 12/14 around 7:30 am, keep doing what you do :) you made my day!

Mercantile is a solid spot in the montrose area for your coffee needs! their coffee tastes great, is not insanely priced, and they have so much seating inside! The baristas are really nice! mercantile is a great place to meet up with friends or sit at the community table to get some work done. only complaints are the wifi was spotty and they charge extra for alt milk :/ overall, would recommend mercantile if you're looking for a coffee shop in montrose

It felt like a place you could hang out for a while, whether you're there to celebrate something or just have a few drinks with friends. One thing to note is they don't serve food, I did hear they rotate food trucks at times, but none were there when we went which was a bit of a downside, but they did allow us to bring in outside food, which honestly made up for it and gave us more options. Parking wasn't too bad when we went, and since it wasn't super packed, everything felt smooth and easy. Overall, great vibes, good drinks, and a fun place. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for a casual hangout or social night out.
