My favorite pho in Seattle, and really, anywhere! This place is amazing! They treat their guests like regulars, and they treat their regulars like family. I have not had a bad meal here, and neither has my friends. This is honestly my favorite place for pho, and in my humble opinion, the best pho I've ever had. It tastes like your Vietnamese aunties are cooking in the kitchen, because they are! I crave this place, and usually eat here once a week if I can. My regular order is a large pho tai chin nam bo vien, (no white onions), which is rare steak, brisket, flank, and beef meatballs. Their pho broth is clear, yet rich and beefy and filled with authentic spices - you can really taste the bones being lovingly simmered for hours. Their Bun Bo Hue is also very good, with outstanding homemade pork meatballs. I tried my friend's Bun Rieu and it was seafoody and delicious as well. Also, don't miss out on their Goi Cuon (spring rolls). It's not on the menu but they do offer a shrimp & pork spring roll. They are absolutely delicious and very fresh. As I said, not a bad meal to be had here! Pro tip: For extra rich, beefy tasting pho, order some nuoc beo, (pronounced "nook bay-o") to add to your broth. You can thank me later. There is a lot of upside to Mekong Village, especially because it is one of just a few Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle which serve won ton noodle soup (mì hoành thánh). My wife always orders it and I always get the pho dac biet (large). Mì hoành thánh was brought to Vietnam in the late 1800's by Chinese immigrants. However, the broth that is commonly used Vietnamese restaurants for wonton noodle soup is far better than the broth in Chinese restaurants. The mì hoành thánh at Mekong Village is fabulous (5/5). My pho dac diet was great until I got to the brisket. It was so tough I couldn't bite through it using chopsticks and had to use my fingers to get a bite. It was cut too thick and not cooked long enough. (3/5) The service was good and the interior is really nice. It looks a little run down on the outside. If you choose to venture inside you will find a simple and friendly environment with, in my opinion, the best Pho soup in Seattle. The fast friendly service is welcoming and the quickness of Pho to your table after ordering is impressive. There are several other Vietnamese staples on the menu but I always order the Pho Ga, because it's one of the best Pho soup bowls I've had and I just can't stray from it. The pre-pho plate of Thai basil leaves, sprouts, limes and jalapeños are always fresh and abundant. The broth is a beautiful light brown and not overrun by fatty clumps, instead offering a deep satisfying flavor that once properly seasoned to taste with Sriracha and Hoisin, is heavenly to sip. The pulled strips of tender chicken are just the right texture and provide a hearty balance to the cooked onions and noodles. The noodles are always made to perfection, a firmness that makes them feel substantial but also a silkiness that almost melts in your mouth. The combination of the crunch of the sprouts, the aroma of the basil, the tender chewiness of the chicken and the softness of the noodles, all swimming in that delightful golden brown broth is simply beautiful. I am now craving a bowl and will be heading out shortly. I've gone to Mekong Village many times now and the most impressive thing to me is that it is ALWAYS great. My friend & I came here for the first time & enjoyed the experience. Outside is nothing spectacular (but at least they have a parking lot!), but inside is nice. Nice Asian décor which I always like. Was expecting a lot from the food due to the reviews written but neither my friend nor myself were super impressed. I would be happy to come back here, but wouldn't drive out of my way for the food. We both had an entrée and an appetizer. I had the fresh shrimp spring rolls for my app and it tasted good and didn't fall apart. For my entrée I had to noodles with beef and vegetables. The entrée is large portion so I was able to take home leftovers which is always nice. I've been sick for a few days and the day when I finally got my appetite back, first thing I wanted was pho. I've tried many pho places to strike gold only like once, but this was my second time finally! I knew better to look up places a little outside the city center, saw Mekong Village, and saw the good reviews, so I decided to give it a go. I ordered delivery through DoorDash - I usually don't get pho deliveries but I'm still sick and didn't feel like getting it myself. What helped a lot was that the pho was cheaper than any other places I usually go ($13 for pho ga as of 8/28/24). This got me a bit worried since all other cheaper places I've been to hasn't been great in Seattle. When I first opened the noodles onto a bowl, I saw that the noodles are skinny as I like it. I reheated the soup and poured it on top of the garnishes and noodles. The soup had quite a straightforward taste - simple salt flavor and not sweet, also my preference! I got the pho ga so the pho had chicken in it. I would easily say Mekong is top three Vietnamese places to eat in WA. I've been to A LOT of Vietnamese places in order to find a few really good spots that my significant other and I can keep going back to and this place is one we always go to if we're nearby. I've taken a lot of other friends here and they all love it. It's one of the few places that remind me of Việt Nam. The only thing missing are outdoor tables and chairs that are so low to the ground you might as well be sitting on the floor while you're listening to the motorcycle honks and sweating from the heat and humidity! The service is nice, the food is good, the wait isn't too long. Truly such a great place to always come back to. It's not the most extravagantly decorated place but a lot of phenomenal Vietnamese restaurants are very homey and comfortable versus upscale. I personally love the decor and the vibe, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea if you want something fancier. I really recommend people to try Mekong if you already haven't. I've been looking at DoorDash restaurants and this restaurant kept popping up on my app whenever I searched up noodles or soup. Had to check it out as the food options seemed suuuper enticing one day that I decided to grab take out! It's located next to a UW Medicine COVID-19 Testing Site on Aurora Ave N. There's a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant looks small on the outside but was relatively big inside! I got two combination pho, one small and one large, and an order of the fried egg rolls. The amount of meat for the pho wasn't much compared to other places I'm used to. But the portion was relatively big! Definitely enough for the two of us. The broth wasn't too bad. It was a bit "clean" compared to what I was used to but not too bad as it didn't have much of an instant flavor. Definitely refreshing after a night of drinking LOL. The fried egg rolls were kind of thin and small especially for the price paid. They weren't the traditional kind of rolls I was used to. The texture was deep fried as if they used the clear wraps. Loved how crispy they were AND full of flavor. YUM! Definitely will be back for more food in the future. Especially since it is really close to my home. Being Vietnamese, I honestly think Mekong Village has the best Vietnamese food in the area. Food tastes good, it's consistently good, and the portions are large. Price has increased throughout the years which is understandable so I'm not complaining - at least they haven't skimped on taste :). I will usually go here when I want to get my Vietnamese food cravings fulfilled. I mainly only get the broken rice dishes (specifically com dac biet) and my husband usually gets the vermicelli bowls (specifically Mekong Special). My daughter loves their pho and I actually think it's a pretty solid bowl of pho for a place that doesn't specialize in pho. There was a lot of broth compared to how it's usually served (less broth to noodles ratio). The pho broth was very light! The eggs rolls were good!
