I have had them for a year now for my business, I signed for a one year contract with them and not my business is going under, I called them to shut off service and they told me that after a year i signed for they just signed me up for another year and now I have to pay for the next year. I told then I never signed anything like that i was told after the first year it would be month to month and they said not that I have to pay for another year, that makes no sense read more

They took over from Speakeasy (I cancelled of course) and they kept billing--and billing--and billing. They don't let you cancel and are aggressive about sending their bills to collection agencies. Stay away, stay away. read more

Horrible service would be welcomed at this point -- Mega Path is far worse than horrible! Our business service costing me $200/month hasn't worked since November and they cannot figure out what the issue is. Needless to say, they haven't stopped billing me monthly and stated they will invoke the $2500 cancellation fee should I cancel their service but have NO problem with the fact that their service sucks and DOESN'T WORK!! I've have to contract Verizon to get another service provider in our office -- which works just fine -- because Mega Path sucks and their service doesn't work. It's unfortunate that you can't give them NEGATIVE STARS as a rating...This is for the service in Los Angeles. read more

do not - i repeat - do not lock yourself into a contract with this company!!! the customer service is worse than horrible - it is non-existent!!! the phone service has never been 100% and nothing ever gets resolved. call them megapath-pass-the-buck!! my it company had to step in and my company is stuck with this incompetence until 2019 or until we buy our contract out at $14,000!!!! read more

Service has been absolutely horrible. I was told three year contract or month to month service. I chose month to month because of the very poor quality of the Internet service. When I cancelled a couple months later, they said month to month is not an option and I have to pay early disconnect fee. Additionally, after being disconnected in early November, they didn't officially disconnect me from billing until the middle of December. I have spent hours on the phone dealing with customer service reps, account managers and now billing. I understand if they simply can't get quality Internet service to my location, but the dishonesty within the organization combined with their departments not communicating with each other resulting any many lost hours on the phone makes this a no brainer: Do not commit to service with this company! I had used Speakeasy for years and was pleased to support a local business with a strong commitment to the community. Since Speakeasy was sold, my experience has been horrible. I have given up on Megapath and switched to a gmail account. Megapath continued to bill me, in spite of my request to terminate my account. They have now turned over their spurious billing for services to a collection agency, with threats of attorney fees, court costs, etc. In spite of the fact that I had NO CONTRACT with Megapath. Helluva way to run a business. As another reviewer has recommended - RUN, DON'T WALK, AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

The worst scamming busniess ever. I told them only two weeks into the service that they had signed us up for the wrong service and they claimed we signed a contract for it which really we agreed to a toatlly different contract. The SERVICE WAS CANCELLED IN OCTOBER!!!!!!! read more

Horrible business practices. Stay far away, even if they are your only choice. We tried to get an internet service installed for our business in Kirkland, WA. They were unable to install the line, and the sales rep told us that we would not be billed or charged an early termination fee. He escalated to his supervisor and we were told it was taken care of. We called, emailed, wrote to follow up and were passed around, ignored, and given empty reassurances. Six months later, we're still receiving a bill each month for $3200 and counting. I was just informed that it's being sent to a collection agency. Megapath will not work with us and had the guts to ask us to make our "best offer" to pay a portion to settle the account. I was advised against Megapath by other business owners, but took a risk anyway. Don't make the same mistake. Your business and personal credit rating are at stake. read more

Had done personal business with Speakeasy for a very, very long time. As "point man" for a friend's small business we started with a T1 and eventually worked our way to bonded T1s and then added VoIP to the mix (with a 3yr contract) around the time the Megapath merger really started bringing about change (or at least when my contacts started turning over - should have seen that one coming). Prior to the merger Speakeasy was my #1 go-to choice. Consistent service, technically skilled staff, you name it they did it right. All of that went out the window after the megapath merger. Avoid at all costs. Friend's contract is up this fall and we'll cut-over to the local cable company who has been hounding us for their business (and I *despise* them - what does that tell you about MP??). read more

Megapath and Speakeasy is the worst business decision I have ever made. I purchased their service in december of 2010. The lady that took my order was very happy but neglected to tell me that we won't have the service installed until March. For the first few months we relied on our cell phones to answer the calls. this was brutal. once the internet kicked in, we used skype to make ends meet. after a significant time our phones were installed. Voice over internet is a horrible decision. after this install, we still had to buy two analog lines; one for reliable 911 calls and the other for the alarm line. completely defeated the purpose as we could have just ordered analog lines and internet by itself. speaking of internet access, we purchased a T1 line. you would think that would suffice, but i'm lucky if I hit 30 kb/sec. it is worse than a dial up connection. calling tech support is like urinating into the wind. an absurd waste of time. I now think outsourcing to a third world country is a better and more reliable option than dealing with the support staff at speakeasy / megapath. I am locked into a 3 year contract. I am trying to figure out a way to break this contract. it has been a very frustrating process and it has shaved years off my life. I dread picking up the phone and dealing with them. I think riding this out for 2 more years is a better option than contacting them for support save yourself the agony and do business with anyone else. this is the pinnacle of terrible service and support read more

I cannot remember ever posting a complaint about a company in my 20+ years online. Take me seriously when I say do not do business with this company. I had DSL service with this company until today. I just went 12 days without service to my business. I spent 25+ hours of my time trying to get my service restored over this 12 days. Much of that time was spent waiting on hold for technical support. Some days I would call and stay on hold for 40+ minutes and never get anybody on the line. It has been a disaster that I can say was 100% MEGAPATH. About 5% of my time is spent maintaining over 60 computers, 12 high speed lines (5 different providers), 11 digital video recorders, 3 servers, 2 web pages, 15 routers, etc. etc. I know how to get things configured and running. Megapath should be avoided at all costs. read more

So, we had Covad which was merged with Megapath. When we upgraded our service (which was slower than dial up) we were told we had to cancel Covad ourselves online--they couldn't do it even though they are the same company now and all we were doing was upgrading our service. Horrible installation issues, took three months with Megapath telling us it was AT&T then AT&T telling us it was Megapath, hey guess what? It was Megapath. Oh and they downgraded the speed two times leaving us with an unbelievably expensive T1 that seemed as slow as dial up. We finally had another option and went with it canceling our service. Shock and surprise when the $4,000 cancelation fee showed up. Turns out that even though we all agreed on the phone to a one year contract, they sent (and we signed UGH!) a three year contract. That sales rep has left the company so there's no record and they just don't care. Our IT guy has spent months trying to get them to honor the one year committment with us paying $1,200 to finish out our year and every time we agreed to the amount they told him he had to get them two more T1 customers or there was no deal. They sent us to collections and we've spent months trying to work this out to no avail. Our IT guy will NEVER commit another client to Megapath. Turns out if we'd had a record of complaints on file we could have gotten out of our contract without the penalties. So if you have them and are struggling be sure to lodge all complaints about slowness, outages, whatever. DO NOT USE MEGAPATH, they are crooks. read more

I just ordered service (10MB Internet) from Megapath for my company and after a month of service, the sales rep emailed me and said he would give me a $25 Amex gift card if I posted a positive review on yelp. Seems like they are desperate and are now resulting to bribing their customers for positive reviews. Not to mention the sales guy initially told me I would get the first month of service for free, which didn't happened. Thankfully I kept his email and he had to go back to his boss and honor it. One word of advice, is if you use these guys, get everything in writing. read more

Yet another zero-star review. I've had Megapath fixed-wireless service (reselling Sprint) since 2009. Though the broadband itself is terrible (I don't have better options), Megapath's customer service used to be OK. Whenever the Sprint tower went down, they always managed to get Sprint to restore the service. Until Sprint "upgraded the tower" - and for the last six weeks, I haven't been able to hold a connection. It works for five minutes or an hour, and then not again for days. Have been working off my cellphone or in a coffee shop. Not a good way to run a business. Megapath no longer seems to have any tech support people who know anything - a few years ago they did, but they've all gone on to better jobs, apparently. The ones who are still there are not just ignorant but mostly rude and uninterested. Yesterday they finally told me this was a "best efforts" service and they wouldn't do any more for me. I should buy a T1 line for $600 a month instead! (A bit steep for a one-person business.) I told them best efforts did not mean zero effort, and that I was going to cancel the service - and then I realized that was useless as a threat, because it was exactly what they wanted me to do! Let me join all the other reviewers in saying: Stay away from this company. read more

Can you give zero stars?? Because that is what this company deserves. We started having issues a few months ago where our phones would go out for an hour or so and then come back on after you sat on hold with Megapath for hours on end...Well we came in one Monday morning and nothing... I have been on the phone with Megapath for four days straight and they have given me little to no answers...They keep you on hold for 30 min sometimes longer and then say oh This is not my issue and transfer you to someone else who will keep you on hold and transfer you again... Whenever I have asked to speak to a manager they put me on hold and then drop the call....THIS IS RUINING MY REPUTATION AS A BUSINESS....I am so dropping them!!!!!!! I do not recommend this company to anyone not even the companies I am in competition with... This actually has to be the worst providers anywhere! read more

I would like to agree with Jeff M's comment and take a quote and use it in my review... "I have not worked with a worse company in any industry, in any city, at any time in my life. You think Comcast is bad. Megapath makes them look like Apple. Do not sign up with them. Switch your service from them as soon as you can." Jeff M. MegaPath has made our entire office's job awful! Our phones have been down and in our industry it is a huge liability issue if our customers can't get through in case of an emergency. Their calls go nowhere and are just lost in space. Spending 5 hours a day with MegaPath has yielded zero results and it seems everything just keeps getting worse. Further attempts to contact them after we've cooled down enough haven't been successful as they're now ignoring us. Nobody knows what they're doing. The one technician told us that their sales people are out soliciting new business and don't care about getting the MAJOR problems fixed. They're just one big mess of a company and nobody knows how to fix it, so nobody does. Word of advice....steer clear! MegaPath MegaSucks!!!! read more

Megapath is HORRIBLE. I am not able to get an outgoing line 2/3rds of the time. I get a fast beep. Incoming calls are effected as well. The Nov01 migration to a new email platform has been very broken for me, my accounts are still not back to normal 20 days later! Somehow they mangled the password for the master speakeasy.net account. Then instead of setting it to a new value, they were able to look up the current password. That is poor system design, passwords are under enough attacks without being stored in readable form. They are hosting my c4e6d9.org domain, but neglected to tell CarrierZone (their new email subcontractor) about it. I have not received any of my primary emails this month. The Level 1 help desk folk are all pleasant enough on the phone, but they are not the ones working on the ticket. It does not seem that the Level 2 and Advanced Services actually read the ticket. I have added notes to AN7199728 rather than call Level 1 to avoid phone trees and information being dropped during transcription, but they do not call back or add their own notes. The Help Centers I have been it would not allow ticket updates to be ignored by the owning technician. read more

I have a business, and I was using Megapath as my internet provider. This company is the worst, if you are thinking of using them; no matter how cheap prices they offer you do NOT. STOP NOW! The customer service is horrible. I lost so much money while waiting for them to restore my internet connection because I wasn't able to make credit card transactions. and they always blamed it on my POS, I bought a new one for $2,700 and they still said it's the POS. Finally after I yelled at them they let me speak to a technician and magically he was able to get it to work after I lost 3 weeks of Credit card sales. and I have new computer that I don't really need since they were wrong about blaming the malfunction on the POS. read more

I'm sitting here for the fourth day in a row, calling Megapath for updates on a ticket. So far today, I've called FIVE TIMES, was told that my outage was caused by a different company, was given a 4-hour SLA window that was missed, was told that I "need to expect that they would make billing mistakes sometimes." During these four days I've lost time at work and spent nearly 10 hours reaching out to this company. Bet you anything that when I ask to have my bill prorated to reflect the time lost, Megapath will tell me that they can't help me. This is the actual worst company to deal with. Seriously. Try to find one that has more incompetent customer service and tech support representatives, more dishonest sales representatives, slower SLAs. and higher prices, I dare you. I've had techs out here twice (one needed to stay for FOUR HOURS - and I'm a residential customer, not a business!) both of whom advised me to jump ship as quickly as I possibly could. I'm a customer service manager and value service reps and know how to speak to them, but I've never gotten any results with this company without resorting to screaming into my phone. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with these idiots for now, but my mistake can be your lesson. If the choice is between Megapath and nothing, pick nothing. read more

We just recently switched from AT&T landline telephone service to Megapath's VOIP solution, and could not be happier. Please have nothing to do with this company. They said they could provide internet service for my location in KY. They have no equipment themselves and rely on other providers. In my area that is Spectrum and Spectrum had already said they would not supply service unless I paid $13K for construction of 1290 feet. MegaPath sent me an estimate of 22K for construction which I did not approve. They said they would close the work order for high speed internet service. Knowing this company I didn't blow away the email correspondence because by this time every time they talked it was a lie. Sure enough I got a bill for $528.05 for service when no service was ever installed. They send your account to billing long before they know if they can give you service. STAY AWAY!!! Just an awful company to deal with in every way. Salesman only interesting in commission. The minute the contract was signed he disappeared. Advised that I could change service packages up or down at anytime, so told me to start with the highest and I could lower it later if I wanted to. Now says he never said that. Now locked into 3 year contract at max price. Installation was extremely difficult. Data tech was awful. Tried to discuss with upper management and they wont return calls. They have me for three years and not a day longer. Will low ball you on price to get you locked in then change it later. Not trustworthy. Do yourself a favor and deal with another company. I just want to say this company has the worst company service. You call in and punch in the #'s and that person says you need to talk to someone else, they transfer you to another # and this person says I should have been talking to the first person. DO NOT USE THEM. READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS FIRST, THEY ARE ALL TRUE. If it were possible to give negative stars I would give them as many as possible. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONTACTING THEM REGARDING SERVICE. Do not do business with them. This is without a doubt one of the most incompetent businesses I have ever dealt with. The list of mistakes, miscommunications, broken promises, poor service etc are far too long to list. In an attempt to get them as a VOIP provider they switched project leads on me 3 times in 4 months. After each time I had to basically start the project over from scratch and re-explain everything to the new person. Despite explaining things simply and clearly they routinely botched everything. I asked for a simple design with redundancy and and no single points of failure. I was promised that their solution was redundant and would fail over automatically to a secondary circuit if there was an outage on the VOIP circuit. They LIED. Of course they promised the system would be fool proof with no single points of failure. Contract was signed, equipment was shipped and installed and guess what. Not only was there a single point of failure, there were several in the design, despite the fact that they promised there would be none. Apparently to them concepts like "automatic failover without human intervention" actually mean that someone will have to move a cable, or a switch, or manually intervene into the process. If you value your time, money, and business do not and I stress DO NOT use them for phone service. I literally almost lost my job due to their complete incompetence. If you work in IT and value your job at all do not use this company. Go with someone else like 8x8 and save yourself the pain and suffering. I'd rather have a root canal without any novocaine than do business with them again. If you value your time, your money, or most importantly your job stay away. How they are still in business is beyond belief. READ ALL THE REVIEWS, PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU TO DO SO BEFORE SIGNING ANY CONTRACT. read more

Coming from Covad, which apparently they purchased. DSL just OK. Customer for 10 years. Cancelled after problems - Dropped signals with router and customer service assured that router was their equipment and they would maintain it. Contracted service tech came and changed DSL filter and said try it but router was probably bad. Dropped signals right away, second trouble ticket, again assured router was their responsibility. Different contracted service tech replaced router. All assured no charge. Auto debit charged our checking for over $500 for these two service calls and the equipment without notice. Told us our auto-debit agreement for the monthly service gave them the right to auto-debit charge our checking at any time without prior notice, including on-site service. No estimates, paperwork, signatures, invoices, anything. Just an auto-debit charge without notice. Over $500 dollars missing from checking, we noticed. Told us by phone the charges would be cancelled. Letter arrived today, months later, from attorney as a collection letter for charges. Don't believe what they say. Changed to LMI. read more

Billing is hopeless. After signing what I thought was an unlimited VOIP plan for my business, I was hit with six months worth of per-minute charges. They claim on the invoice that within the last 6 months (that's 180 days), I was on the phone, on an intra-state call, for 72 of those days. It's clearly marked as "minutes" on the bill. I called customer service and they informed my that Megapath labels "seconds" as "minutes." So, I've been on an intrastate call for a week or more? Regardless, I had the impression that my service was for unlimited VOIP. I guess the salesman lied. All of this is par for the course for a telecom company. Lying rats. AVOID MEGAPATH. They are dishonest to the core. read more

My salesmen, Scott, lied to me and someone else on his team pressured me into signing a contract that he didn't give me time to read. I was assured it was a work order and it needed to be signed now to get the phone company out. "We gotta sign this and get it in before 5! So please hurry so I can get it started for your business!" My reasoning for canceling service: 1) I told Scott in the beginning that I planed on canceling and switching to another provider as soon as it was available. At the time only megapath was available. When last I spoke with him, he claimed he briefly remember that conversation where I made it abundantly clear I would leave them for a more reasonably priced service. 2) it took 3 months to get service with promises of "someone will be there soon." 3....months... 3) Scott and I agreed over the phone that it would be $150 a month with NO CONTRACT. I repeated this several times and have even requested the recording of our conversation. He lied. And his partner who also lied about what I was signing as he rushed me, tricked me into a contract (not a work order as described) for 5 years at $250 a month. I was told if I didn't sign it now and send it to him that it would take several weeks to get service. I had a new store that I desperately needed internet at so in a panicked state, I signed the lie. 4) I tried to resolve this matter with Scott with several emails and phone calls (emails documented). I never received follow ups from the company. They just up and canceled and said I owed them $5k (which now is up to $7k) because I was 30 days over my "trial period" of 30 days. 5) megapath was not compatible with our equipment. After several technical support calls, megapath said it was our fault we didn't check and that they weren't going to send anyone out to fix it. Everyday I received emails about service being down but with no solution on their end. So to recap, I was lied to (I still want those recordings), manipulated in my desperation, unanswered in my plea for a resolution for a product THAT DIDNT EVEN WORK on top of the fact it took 3 months to even get it installed. Megapath is full of liars and scam artists. Selling snake oil that doesn't work like advertised. I'm confident there is a legal issue with a salesmen saying one thing and then tricking the customer into signing something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. read more

Not to be believed. Started the service with Covad in 2009. Great service until Megapath bought Covad. First it took two weeks to get them to stop threaten to shut of the service because they could not bill the credit cards. We should have canceled then! Starting in January 2012 the service came to a halt. We went three months trying to get support. Our business was dead in the water. We lost thousands of dollars in sales. After three months of trying to resolve the issue we install another service and canceled Megapath. Seven months later Megapath refuses to cancel my account emailing fraudulent bills. I have hundreds of hours tied up in this mess and thousands in lost sales. Now I just got off the phone with them I guess I need to pay an attorney to get them to stop the harassment. read more

I used Megapath for home DSL in Chicago. Once you sign their contract, they have you. I signed a 2 year agreement and was told that if I move, I can take my service with me and finish out my contract as long as it's offered at my new location, and if not, I can cancel, no problem. However, when I did move a year later, they told me that I either had to pay 1/2 of the remaining amount of my contract (over $600) or sign up for a NEW contract. And to keep my current rate, I had to sign for a new 2 year agreement. So, I either had to pay a huge cancellation fee, or sign a new contract at a higher rate. Being that the internet was a step faster than dial up, I had no interest in continuing any longer with them. They are jerks and run a scam. DO NOT give them your credit card! read more
