This is my first Yelp review, and I hope it helps save someone from the frustration of Megapath. Here we go: 1. I called to ask about getting a T1 line for my business. Salesperson promised a $500 credit to offset the $500 installation fee. This credit has still not been provided to me. Support tells me it's up to the salesperson to handle the credit. Meanwhile, the salesperson tells me it will take "at least 1 full billing cycle" for the credit to appear. Yes, yes, no. No $500 credit. 2. When the installer arrived, he asked me if I had received a T1 modem. I had not received a T1 modem. The installer told me that he had asked his dispatcher whether he should call me first to make sure I had a modem. His dispatcher told him "not to worry about it" so installer arrived without a modem and wasn't able to complete installation. Installer contacted Megapath and was told that I had my own T1 equipment. What?? Why in the heck would I have a T1 modem available? I assume this goes back to the salesperson in Item 1, above. 3. On the second installation attempt, the installer asked me for my T1 modem. WHAT?? I don't have a @#$!@# T1 modem. So installer had to use the one he had with him. Installation failed due to a technical problem. Installer said he had to go to the local office an check the connection and I never heard from him again. I called the next day to learn that there was a technical issue that needed sorted out. Thanks for letting me know! NOT. 4. I get my first invoice. Aside from the missing $500 credit, there was a $4.95 charge to HAVE THE BILL MAILED TO ME. I didn't request a mailed invoice, and I certainly would not agree to a FIVE DOLLAR CHARGE FOR PAPER INVOICE. 5. So, I submitted a support ticket to ask that my paper invoice be changed to email invoice. A Megapath rep called me and talked to me on the phone. The rep told me that I would receive an email invoice going forward. TODAY, I RECEIVED A MAILED INVOICE WITH A $4.95 CHARGE TO HAVE IT MAILED TO ME, almost FOUR WEEKS since I talked to the Megapath rep and was assured that I would no longer receive a mailed invoice. I get a lot of invoices, both emailed and snail-mailed. $4.95 to mail an invoice is the highest cost I have ever seen to get a mailed invoice for ANY service that I have ever had. ESPECIALLY after I was told that I would no longer be sent invoices my mail. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. If you are considering Megapath for anything whatsoever, EXPECT ROTTEN SERVICE BASED ON POOR COMMUNICATION. I'm one of the lucky ones. I only signed up for 12 months of service. I feel very sorry for anyone who has 2 years, 3 years or more on contract with this company. If I wasn't "on the hook" for 12 months, I would switch to ANY other internet including DIAL-UP. I wish I could go back in time and prevent myself from ordering anything from Megapath. Argh! read more

I'm on day 5 with no broadband internet thanks to Megapath/Fusion. I'm operating 2 business, all using cloud-based applications, all using VOIP, all hung out to dry. Fusion dodges and weaves, won't call back, leaves me on hold for 30 minutes, escalates to no avail, and still my internet is down for 5 days. They are reselling internet on a leased FIOS line and they don't even seem to know who owns the line and who is supposed to fix it. Now nobody is taking responsibility for it. I told them I would just buy direct from Frontier: they threatened early termination fees. It's mean to say these guys are the worst of the telecommunications companies, but it's fair to say they epitomize the rotten customer service I've come to expect from that industry. read more

I just got done with the most horrendously rude customer service representative. I am astounded. Just... shocked. All I was asking for was a quote and all I got was someone's terrible attitude and disturbingly bad customer service. Excepts below: you: What is necessary to place an order? Maybe they will have some tips on how to talk to people without being rude. Please take care. I was a Speakeasy customer for years in San Francisco. I selected them to get better Quality of Service by including their VoIP solution as well. Over time this was clearly an expensive way to go and the VoIP quality went downhill. Then Megapath came into the picture (a merger between Speakeasy, Megapath and Covad) and it was clear that this was a disaster for me. Technical support was not helpful, download bursts which came close to my rated speed resulted in simple disconnection without a reconnect, phone support became a nightmare of long waits before learning that they had downtime. On and on like this. The final straw was not being able to cancel my service without memorizing my account number. Formerly, Speakeasy support could take my user name to look up the account. By the time I rooted out a bill with the number it was Labor Day weekend and attempts to reach support got me abruptly disconnected without explanation. I will end up paying three more day for service simply because the cancellation people are not available and you can only cancel by calling and waiting during "regular business hours." Some "Internet company." Megapath sucks rocks! Just don't bother considering them for anything but the dumpster. Happy to move on to a locally owned ISP and good riddance to them. Too bad zero stars is not a rating. [Added update] After calling to cancel (my first attempt was disconnected but eventually a courteous gentlemen took my cancel order) I was told I would have a refund due because I was paid through the middle of October. This is how THAT works: I have to first wait for my next invoice in October. It will show a credit due. THEN I have to call them again (more voice menu BS) and REQUEST they send me the refund! What a joke of a company. If you still want to be a customer of Megapath you definitely know something I don't (and don't want to). read more

NO NO NO NO NO! Do not use mega path services. They are expensive and no connection all the time! When we ask them to send guys to fix the Internet, they would say it's our own cable had "water damage ". Cost 1500-2000 dollars to fix it. When we want to stop this unusable interest service, they would charge you BIG BIG BIG ($4500-$5000) penalty apparently I signed up for a 3 year service that I didn't know of. This company has not provided good internet service, over charged price, make up big so called "penalties " only benefit themselves. I as a very unhappy customers wrote complaint letters to them and never got any reply. This is day light robbery! Do not use their service!!!! read more

We've had a T1 with them for years. It will be working great for a few weeks and then begin to deteriorate over the course of a few days to the point where it up and down constantly. Their outsourced service reps are nice, but unable to solve the issue. I repeat the same call every time. There's an issue, and the only way I'm going to resolve it is to go to the trouble of terminating the line, which is a hassle, and replacing them as the vendor. Frustrating part is that the circuit could be fixed and our monthly check for hundreds of dollars would continue. It just seems to be outside their response protocol. read more

This company is beyond disappointing, and while we have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, it's a scam in our opinion. Once the company acquired Speakeasy we went with another hosting company, but Megapath kept charging us monthly. When I called to find out what they were charging us for the guy said, "domain forwarding." When I asked him to explain what that was he talked around it, transferred me to someone else and couldn't give me a straight answer. Once we figured out that this was a useless service that they weren't even providing in the first place, we cancelled the service. They tried to scare us by saying we had a contract, and we said that we never signed anything and then they backed off saying that the service was cancelled and we would no longer get billed. We have been SPEAKEASY customers for several years. In the past few months as we have experienced issues with our T1 line and VOIP service the customer service has been horrible. Hate to pile on but after my company has been WITHOUT INTERNET FOR 3 DAYS and there is still no attempt by anyone at Megapath to do anything more than transfer us to another department (that all seem to close at weird times like 1:38pm and 4:25pm) there's nothing else to do but tell anyone who will listen to never give these guys a second of your time or a dime of your money. They would make the world a better place by going out of business - before they put small business owners like me out of business. Our entire company is now working from home and driving in to the office daily to retrieve files from our server - Megapath's incompetence has damaged my business.... and no one there seems to care or be the least bit interested in expediting a solution (this is all from their proprietary router that only they can configure breaking after 8 months - no one seems to know how to stick a new one in a FedEx box and send it to us). Save yourself an ulcer and do the world a favor by not using this company.... better yet, mail them a paper bag filled with dog shit. I have been a long time speakeasy customer, so when I moved I asked to create a new connection with speakeasy. They gave me a Megapath account, and said it is the same. The initial setup was hard, as they sent a mis-configured DSL router. It took a many phone calls, lots of hold time, many incompetent techs, but eventually they gave me passwords to log in and configure it my self. Every few months I have to straighten out bills with them. They send a bill that is missing previous payments. I caught them on at least one double bill but I had to call and audit the bills with them. As an example of a customer experience: Right now my DSL has been down for 11 hours, on Megapath master ticket number 5568153. The First Tech (Dyan) didn't know basic trouble shooting. She simply asked me to verify my identity and re-provisioned the line. She said there was not error on the circuit. I asked her to ping my gateway or IP and she could not. She asked if they can send a technician to my house, which is very weird. The Second Tech (Mc) called back to say it might be fixed within 24 hours. An hour later I called the phone number on http://www.megapath.com/support/network-status, as I did not see an outage listed. The Third Tech (Carol) told me their provider at the central office had a problem and it's has been escalated. I asked if they would please post the outage on http://www.megapath.com/support/network-status. The tech explained they will not post this outage as it is not their problem, but I can call back for updates. I am a customer experiencing an outage, so what is that web site for? So the web site is a false attempt at transparency, and does not actually show the state of their network. I keep hoping Megapath will try to improve their company, now that they ate Covad and Speakeasy, but a lack of transparency, low quality of technical support, flaky billing, and flaky service make them a strong candidate for failure. It is a real pain to switch providers, but I'm warming up to the idea. read more

This is by far the worst internet company ever. My roommate signed up with them in august and we have spent that entire time trying to cancel. I want to switch to AT&T uverse but they claim there will be an 800+ cancelation fee. These guys are crooks stay away. We pay 100 a month and I can't even load a youtube video. It is faster for me to look it up on my phone. I have never been more dissatisfied with any service in my life. If anyone from this company reads this, Please respond to our emails and allow us to cancel. I am sick of Having to go to coffee shops to send my emails. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We don't have thousands of employees, but that doesn't make our needs any less important. I expect on point service and support. And Megapath consistently drops the ball. We have used Megapath for ethernet Internet connectivity in one of our offices for many years. (because our choices are very limited) The service ITSELF is fine. It's as stable and reliable as any, I suppose. Just do NOT ever upgrade your service. You'll encounter some of the worst customer service and support you've ever seen. We've upgraded our internet twice. Both of them have been like something straight out of your worst nightmares. Four years ago we upgraded our service and Megapath and Verizon pointed fingers at each other for 3 days while we had no internet. Let that sink in for a minute. No internet for three days. This year, we decided to double our bandwidth. I was obviously skeptical and worried about the process. Because of that I asked if the upgrade would require any onsite visits or require any change in equipment or result in any downtime. Our sales rep ASSURED me that not only would there not be any onsite visit needed, there wouldn't be any hardware changes either. In fact, everything could be done on Megapath's end, transparent to us. And best of all, we wouldn't experience any down time as a result. Win win win. Not so fast. Guess what? Last week I get an email notifying me that a site visit that was required. I inquired and was told our sales rep didn't know what he was talking about. Not only was a site visit required, there would actually be TWO site visits and on the second visit, they would need to bring us down while they swapped out some equipment. Our second site visit was scheduled for this morning between the hours of 9a and 1p. It's now 2:20pm, and no sign of Megapath. No emails, no phone calls. Nothing. I had to call Megapath to find out what was going on. They told me our visit had been rescheduled to between Noon - 4pm. I'll leave it at that. Never never use their service, cause they do not own any of your local line, they just rent from your local provider, also, they will add their own profit into the bill, so you will pay double even triple for your internet bill but only have the basic service!! This is a follow up to my 2/19/13 review. I've never experienced a more cynical and corrupt business model than used by this company. As many have taken time to do in these reviews, I earnestly warn you not to do business with them. Megapath's statement made here in response to my 2/19 review was calculated and cynical (and probably canned). My effort to get reimbursement in the past for downtime was thwarted by hoops and denials. Megapath made clear that getting due reimbursement would be like pulling teeth and I'm certain is calculated to discourage claims. I cancelled my T1 service with Megapath after repeated downtimes exceeding 24 hours, around the date of my 2/19/13 review. Those downtimes followed years of poor, sometimes horrendous, technical and customer service, with long periods of downtime sometimes exceeded days. Although service ceased and I started using ATT in February, Megapath now asserts that I did not follow contractual form in canceling service and now asserts I owe them for at least 4 months of service at $310 each following cancellation. I've just received a call from their hired muscle ominously threatening lawsuit for payment of months of service following my cancelation and its termination. Yes, no service was provided for the periods they are demanding payment. I think this company needs to be forced to modify its practices. I hope anyone who also feels this way will also explicitly state this in their reviews. read more

6 year history with Megapath - First started with Speakeasy in San Francisco which was purchased COVAD which was purchased by Megapath. Service is spotty at best. ADSL2. Blaming issues on AT&T, cables, internal service, and so forth, to no avail. We pay for 8MB down and 1MB up, and oftentimes get speeds of .5MB down and .1MB up with no users on line and no one using VOIP; all devices disconnected. Their techs can see that there's serious packet loss and latency. Customer service is spotty at best. Some times, I get someone who speaks English well enough, some times in Seattle, sometimes in Prince Edward Island. But now, it seems that they moved most of the support from India to the Philippines. They are working in many different locations and seem all to simply read scripts, do basic tests, and then try to close tickets. They call after hours to schedule a visit by a technician. They don't read the information that others have written in the tickets. We're done. Time to switch. Going to Comcast or Microwave. read more

Stay away from this company! I signed up for a VIOP account with MegaPath in late June 2012. The customer service and the actual product were so bad that I cancelled within the first 30 days. Now, over 18 months later, MegaPath sends a notice that payment of almost $1000 for multiple invoices is required to complete the cancellation. I had not received any indication over those 18 months that the account was active, and I did not receive any invoices. Further, I had been told in June/July 2012 that by canceling within 30 days no fees would be due. They didn't even send copies of the "invoices" with their notice of overdue payments. Ridiculous. Not only the service is terrible and inconsistent, if you ever need customer service or change or service or cancellation, they give you a runaround that it's second to none, plus nobody is ever available to answer your calls unless you want to purchase new service or give them some money for something. Quick update: I spoke with Ryan who makes some changes but cannot assist me to cancel the other services that I don't need and he transfers me to Charlie who is trying to convince me to keep a service than I do not need but he cannot help cancel the service so then he transfers me to Jeff who is supposed to cancel my service and sends me an email which he Never does. I then call again and speak to Felicia whom I tell 5-6 times what I need until she sounds like she gets but she doesn't and says that Jeff was supposed to have taken care of this but them she cannot help and transfers me to Brandon who sounds to be the smartest of all and understands what I need to do (after I tell him just once) but cannot help me because he works in Voice Support so he gets Felicia back on the line who apologizes to Brandon for wasting his time and she now is convinced that she Can help me but then she does not seem to understand what I need and then she can only do certain things and she's "happy" to cancel part of the service but I need to speak to somebody else, Carter the account manager that can handle "downgrades" whom I was supposed to know but then after this 55 minutes ordeal... we get disconnected so nothing gets done. I have to give up while I am still in my right mind, this is beyond crazy at this point. read more

This is the absolute worst service I have ever encountered. It has gotten progressively worse over the last 3 weeks. Now we can pretty much count on coming to work each morning and having NO PHONE SERVICE. Forget trying to call; you will be on hold for at least 30 minutes and THEN when you finally get someone to answer, you will be cut off and have to start all over again. The employees have obviously been instructed to to lie to the customers. They will never admit that the outage is on their end. Today, was the last straw. They finally admitted that their "system is down" and on my third call, some poor guy told me that "honestly, he has no idea when it will be up again." I will be switching to another VOIP provider as soon as I get an approval from management. Class action suit, anyone? We have paid THOUSANDS of dollars for a service that we are not receiving and are losing potential sales due to our lack of phone service. read more

Email address leaks Today on the email website, when I type in a letter or to to the address field, I get a list of dozens or more addresses that I have never written to. I'm guessing that the lookup feature has gotten hooked to some global list of addresses (maybe all thos that have been mailed to recently?) It's consistent with the incredibly poor service I've been seeing yesterday, and possibly a serious privacy violation. read more

I wish I could give a lower rating to them. Worst phone company I've dealt with. My boss decided to change phone provider companies and heard Megapath would be a great change that could really make the company work at a more professional level. It was great for the first few months but after awhile, calls kept getting dropped. It would happen only a few times so we thought it was the phone provider of the people we called. Then the calls were getting dropped more and more. We talked to our, "Client Account Manager," which he RARELY picks up the phone and if you miss him and leave a message will never call you back, but he said, "if you would like we can upgrade your system [for an extra $850.00 per month]." We're already paying more than $1200.00 per month and they want us to pay almost $900.00 extra per month! They have never sent a technician to try and fix the situation, they have never tried to resolve the issues; all they want is more money for a service we had in the first few months. They give us this lack of service because we are stuck in a contract until 2019 so they know we can't do anything. Having MegaPath has been extremely frustrating! Once you're stuck in a contract, don't expect them to help unless you're willing to pay almost double. The only thing I can do is write this review so that at least I can prevent one person from doing the same mistake as my company did. read more

If I could give a lower score I would do so. The customer service and abandonment of customers during outages was literally impressive. Later we found out why. They do not control their own lines but book on ATnT's lines. as a result not only could then not give us updates, or explanation during major outages, but they raise their rates as a result. ATnT bid on our service blowing them out of the water. When confronted with the situation the Account rep only responded by explaining we should pay more for additional services. Refusing to speak to the situation. Now they are re-branding under Fusion Connect to get away from all of these terrible but honest reviews. read more

Ugh. I used to have Speakeasy which has now degraded to Megapath. Tried to upgrade speed now I have no internet at all. They are unable to tell me why my current service went dead 2 days ahead of the install date for the faster service.. They repeatedly schedule things for dates I am not available and make appointments that I have not approved. They sent out the wrong time for 2 appointments and they say they'll call but never do. Tech support now goes to an Indian call center where they are unable to do anything except read from a script. It is horrible. Try and ask them what something in the speech they just read to you means or how it works and all they do is REREAD the script. I miss the Speakeasy help which was actually able to 1. fix things and 2. explain what was broken. I would give them zero stars if possible. The only useful person was the install guy. He did the best he could despite the fact that other screw ups made it impossible to finish getting my service working. Literally every other employee I have spoken to seems both confused and unhelpful. I have no idea when / if I will have service. update: 8/12 I still have no service and it's now been 6 days. I was told that a phone company person would be coming out to look at things but I can't get confirmation from Megapath as to whether or not that happened. When I called to check they thought it was for my old service not my new. update: 8/13 I have been contacted by a special customer service rep. We will see if this helps any or not. I still have no service. update: 8/15 service finally restored after a week and a half. I don't think it would have been possible w/o the customer service response here that connected me with an escalation dept. That person was the only on who seemed to be able to see the logic in doing things like making sure the lines worked before sending a tech or making sure that I had notice that a tech was coming. It is so weird - general tech support and provisioning are still so not very useful. Provisioning in particular is insane - still scheduling appointments and sending techs out without notifying via email or confirming w/you that you're available. I'd recommend trying to get to the escalation dept at the first sign of trouble.This cost me an extra day off work, extra hours on the phone and I still don't know how to go about asking them to prorate me for the cost of the down time. update: 8/17 the online form to cancel the old circuit doesn't work of course. I now have to call them during business hours. Removing a star for this. update 8/19 new contact to escalation has them helping cancel my old service and get my request for a reduced bill for the outage. I'm giving starts back as things are workign now. read more

They are crooks, stay away. We once had their service at our office in Sunnyvale and service was beyond crappy. I spent as many hours on the phone with their useless technical service as I did using their poor internet. We were so desperate that we hired AT&T (yes, we were really desperate) even before our contract with them expired. If time wasn't the precious commodity it is we'd probably sue them. I have had them for a year now for my business, I signed for a one year contract with them and not my business is going under, I called them to shut off service and they told me that after a year i signed for they just signed me up for another year and now I have to pay for the next year. We changed from Telepacific to Megapath in November 2013. What should have cost us possibly $500 to $700 to make the switch, cost us $1,700. The people that work for Megapath insisted that we have an IT person, or telephone installer here when they did any work on our system. The first thing they scheduled was for one of their installers to do some wiring and install a piece of equipment at our office. They gave us a time window for that day of 9am to 1pm and we had to have our IT person here. About 12:15pm the Megapath installer finally calls us and says he'll be here at 2pm. When he got here he informed us that he had been rescheduled for a time window of 1pm to 5pm. They never had the courtesy to let us know of this change and they refuse to reimburse us for the 4 wasted hours we had to pay our outside IT person for the 9am to 1pm window. Plus, there wasn't anything for him to do the entire day, AT ALL. They cite their "Company Policies" that states they are not liable to 3rd parties. That isn't the whole story. The Megapath installer improperly programmed the equipment he installed and our IT person had to waste about 5 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with our broadband connection. He called their tech support line and they were useless. It was only when the owner of the IT company cam and figured out the programming problem that we had internet access. Quite frankly, our outside IT person should One other gem. When you start manually dialing a phone number you better have it memorized. Once you get a dial tone you only have three seconds to start dialing before you get a recording and you have to hang up and start again. Same thing between button pushes once you've started dialing. You can't pause more than three seconds. This is Megapath's system that causes this, not our phone system. They say there is nothing they can do about that. If I had known it was going to cost us $1,700 I would have never changed. If you do decide to go with them and you need an outside installer/IT person, don't let them push you to have him there until the day they cut voice over from your old company. read more

I really would give no star to this bad business company. They are hurting tens of thousands of business operators in the bay area operating with constant interruptions during business days. WORSE WORSE WORSE COMPANY EVERRRRRRR!!! I cancelled my whole company service from them on Feb. 5th and its March 19th they are stillsending me a bill, I had to call them twice to inform them that I cancelled my freakin' service from them and there is still a wait to shut down all of our old phones from them. I will NEVER EVER go back to megapath and I don't recommend this company to anyone. They suck BIG TIME! read more

We finally cancelled this service in April after long years of periodic outages and poor service. We received a copy of the cancellation confirmation. Bills kept coming after the cancellation. I contacted Megapath in late May and requested the new invoices be cancelled and provided the cancellation confirmation. Another invoice arrived so I repeated the exercise with another Megapath representative in late June. No response to my request for resolution. So today I receive a notice from a collection agency in Tampa for unpaid amounts due to Megapath. My humble advice - do not even think of doing business with Megapath. Ever. read more

do not - i repeat - do not lock yourself into a contract with this company!!! the customer service is worse than horrible - it is non-existent!!! the phone service has never been 100% and nothing ever gets resolved. call them megapath-pass-the-buck!! my it company had to step in and my company is stuck with this incompetence until 2019 or until we buy our contract out at $14,000!!!! read more

Service has been absolutely horrible. I was told three year contract or month to month service. I chose month to month because of the very poor quality of the Internet service. When I cancelled a couple months later, they said month to month is not an option and I have to pay early disconnect fee. Additionally, after being disconnected in early November, they didn't officially disconnect me from billing until the middle of December. I have spent hours on the phone dealing with customer service reps, account managers and now billing. I understand if they simply can't get quality Internet service to my location, but the dishonesty within the organization combined with their departments not communicating with each other resulting any many lost hours on the phone makes this a no brainer: Do not commit to service with this company!
